It´s Comic Master Monday with Will Eisner

A man is running down an elevated train track, right at me with the train right behind his. His clothes are tattered, his face looks tired but he still is trying to outrun the train. This is the first image that comes to my mind.

I´m talking of course of the cover to the third issue of the Warren reprint magazines of Will Eisner´s THE SPIRIT. After the last few days I thought I could take the day off from blogging and do a bit of sorely needed sleeping and clean out the laptop but as always the gods had other plans for me.

First off I forgot that Today is my Mom´s birthday and I had planned to make the trek to Ludwigsburg to get her a present. Then when I went over Today´s birthday list I saw that Will Eisner was on it and since I never got around to do the follow up post to my BLACK AND WHITE post on Will Eisner´s THE SPIRIT ( which was the first black and white post I made ) I knew I had enough material to pay homage to one of the greatest comic artists who ever lived. Since I have already elaborated at length why THE SPIRIT is such a great comic I am not going to bore you with it again ( for that you just have to use the link above and read my first post ) so here is a selection of personal favorite covers and pages of THE SPIRIT series.

As always we have a few thank yous to give and links of interest to share starting with M. K. McFarland´s article on WIRED about a new bio on Will Eisner which may be a bit old but there are twelve beautiful pieces of Will Eisner included, two of which ended up in this post so kudos and speaking of biographies, for more info on Will Eisner you can go to WIZARDS KEEP .

There also is an interview with Will Eisner about the Warren reprints from Comic Book Artist 4 on TWOMORROWS website and a post from partner blog DIVERSIONS OF THE GROOVY KIND that did not make it into my first Will Eisner THE SPIRIT post is The Fortune from Warren´s The Spirit 11.

Today´s rather short and - to the relieve of a lot of my readers - almost completely babe free entertainment section starts with Michael Bernd Schmidt who celebrates his 49th birthday. The name may not be familiar to many people but at least my german readers should know more if I tell you that he also goes by the name of Smudo and is one of the members of Die Fantastischen Vier and I am not talking about Marvel´s first family here.

Speaking of family, when I first saw Kieron Dwyer´s art in the now classic Captain America No More story line in which Steve Rogers gave up the mantle of Captain America and the Superpatriot became the new sentinel of liberty I did not know that he was the stepson of John Byrne. Although I don´t think that had any big impact on his career. Besides working on Captain America he has worked on various books - mostly for Marvel - like Kurt Busiek´s Avengers Assemble series where he was one of the artists that followed George Perez and drew the finale of the Kang War. He also stayed on the title under Geoff John´s short reign. Kieron turns 50 Today.

Speaking of the Avengers, Al Milgrom who celebrates his 67th birthday has been everything from penciler to inker to writer and even editor and besides his eight year stint as inker of X - Factor he is best known for his work on the Whackos how the West Coast Avengers are lovingly referred to by their fans. A few years back I wanted to buy the first omnibus as a birthday present for my brother since it was offered at a very low price but because he said he was not interested in that kind of material I let the opportunity pass by. Since then I have gotten volume two ( mostly because I want to read the famous time travel story ) and the Avengers by John Byrne omnibus but so far I have not found the time to read it.

When you are not doing a special post it is always difficult to sum up a career in a single paragraph but thankfully it is much easier with a video.

We start our Dearly Departed section with Bill Ward who is best known for creating Torchy and his knack for drawing the female anatomy. A few years back I ordered The Glamour Girls of Bill Ward from Fantagraphics Books via amazon and because of the price I thought I had ordered a softcover book. Just a few weeks ago I had bought The Pin Up Art of Dan DeCarlo and thought this would also be a manga sized booklet. Imagine my surprise when it was not only in hardcover but the size of european comic albums.

Next we have two comedians starting with Jürgen von Manger who is best known to german audiences as Ruhrpott original Adolf Tegtmeier based on the real life version of his alter ego whom he met at a party. He originally created the character for radio but after his first show in the Ruhrpott dialect on Sylvester 1961 was a surprise success he went on to play the role on television, most famously on Tegtmeier´s Reisen. Besides the Commander´s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Order of Merit of North Rhine - Westphalia he has a star on the Cabaret Walk of Fame at the Romano - Guardini - Platz in Mainz.

Our last birthday shoutout goes to Lou Costello, one half of the best known comedy duos. As a big horror movie fan I was looking for Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein but since I could only find short clips from that movie here is one of the most famous sketches in history instead.

It is probably unnecessary to explain comic legend Will Eisner to people of my generation but for the younger comic readers out there I want to add this video. Unlike Alan Moore´s much hyped Watchmen his A Contract With God really was a graphic novel and although some comic people have nothing better to do than to debate if it really was the first graphic novel I can´t help but wonder if Will knew what he started when he drew it.

Happy birthday hasian siren Kiana Tom !

Today one of tv´s hottest fitness babes celebrates her 52nd birthday : Kiana Tom, mostly known for making men drool on FLEX APPEAL.

Of course like most shows with hot sexbombs FLEX APPEAL didn´t air in Germany. As I understand it - at least from the commentaries on the internet and later from the clips I could watch through the internet - the biggest pull of the show was Kiana Tom herself and her firm puppies ( 36Ds ! ) stretching the thin fabric of her tiny tops in a most fetching way.

According to wikipedia she was an original member of the ESPN fitness show " BodyShaping " until 1995 when she left to host " Kiana's Flex Appeal ". Being that her stunning 36D - 23 - 35 measurements were the only reason anybody watched " BodyShaping " in the first place, her show eventually became the more popular one. She has written a number of books on the subject of physical fitness and she even posed for Playboy magazine. In addition to hosting, she has made a few appearances on screen as an actress, most notably in Universal Soldier: The Return.

She also was on other shows like BLADE WARRIORS but I mostly missed the show because of work. But I caught a few episodes and I can say she really looks good in those. In fact, since I didn´t know she was born in Hawaii I cast her as Psylocke in multiple comic book casting posts.

Yeah, I know you´re probably tired of hearing me say that but asian girls are my kryptonite. And by assessory all exotic looking sexbombs. Damn, that´s one of the reasons cosplay queen Yaya Han still hasn´t gotten her own post. I want to give her props but I´m afraid it will turn into porn.

Which I have to look out for on basically any post involving hot cosplay girls if I don´t want to look like a pervert. Anyway, back to Kiana Tom.

Born in Maui, Hawaii, she is the daughter of Chinese American child actor, Layne Tom Jr. She is part Chinese, Hawaiian and Irish. She was a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Raiders before becoming a TV personality.

As an actress her most famous part was in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 2 or UNIVERSAL SOLDIER - THE RETURN how it is sometimes called were her short bit part at the beginning is the only redeeming value of the flick.

In the scene Jean Claude Van Damme and Kiana Tom´s character Maggie are running an exercise run against the universal soldiers. They are separated and Kiana Tom is captured by wrestler Goldberg. Now I don´t know where the logic is here as he´s supposed to be some kind of cyborg but he does what any healthy man would do in his situation. Namely tie the helpless Kiana Tom whose shirt reveals a really huge bulge to a tree.

But it gets even better as Goldberg ( named Romeo in the movie which might explain why he tries to get it on with Kiana ) rips open her shirt !

Now that´s what I call entertainment : we´re only six minutes into the movie and we already see Kiana´s bra - clad melons exposed ( sadly she doesn´t go bra - less although she definitely has the hardbody to pull it off, but since she doesn´t show more skin it is the erotic highlight ). It is just a quick glimpse, but you can see that Kiana really doesn´t have much to be ashamed of because those perfect heavenly hangers look amazing !

Like I said, this doesn´t make much sense since Goldberg is supposed to be some kind of machine here but as an AVENGERS fan I also bought that the Scarlett Witch has such a hot body that even an android got horny. As well as everybody else in the Marvel universe when the only women were her, the Wasp and Susan Storm. Looking back on old AVENGERS issues it´s kind of weird that all her male teammates had the hots for her.

Even her own brother it seems which is something they picked up again in ULTIMATES. Which was so oversexed and badly written that this really didn´t matter. But back in the day Wanda was the go - to damsel in distress and the top item for a villain´s bachelor base was probably to have her chained to a bed naked. I mean I get that all the villains like Arkon wanted to mate with her. Okay, in the comics they only kidnapped her but guess what they intended to do with her. Which wasn´t in the least bit awkward when it was revealed that Magneto was her father. Yes, that´s one way how writing as you make things up can bite you in the ass.

Now all those times Magneto had Wanda under his spell and tried to turn her into his lust slave look really weird. Of course he played the old amnesia card but the truth is he probably knew all along that old dog.

For more on the Scarlet Witch the website SCARLET WITCHING has a post about The entire histoy of Wanda and Magneto´s relationship and THE PEERLESS POWER OF COMICS has an entry on her hex powers and her first glimpses as a villainess under John Byrne. You see ? Long before Bendis made Wanda a reality altering super mutant it was established that everything was possible for her ( she even had twins with an android ) and that she´s so hot she made her own father and a machine horny.

So maybe the producers use the same logic since Kiana´s mindboggling curves can overcome any programming. She´s so hot she melts metal !

The only thing that brings this down is that some sources claim that Kiana used a boob double for the scene. Which is hard to believe since it really isn´t necessary. Dammit, Kiana´s body is banging and if you check out the frames just before her pigeons fly loose you can see her big bust. So the only reason why they would have used a double would be that she was too erotic and they shot somebody with a smaller chest. I´m no expert on chest sizes especially when it comes to american chest sizes but I just like to believe that we get to see the real Kiana here. And if not then I stick to the theory that Kiana´s at least as gifted as her body double or that her chest is even bigger because otherwise it makes no sense.

In any case I´d like to get more information on who was her body double for the scene since she must also be a pretty hot number. Back to the scene, there isn’t a whole lot of skin here, but the bra busting moment might have you doing some serious Van Dammage to your man region !

As for her role in the film, Maggie is hardly used ( no pun intended ) and many reviewer bemoan that she didn´t get naked. I don´t know where the producers are coming from as they fumbled one of the biggest pulls of the movie when they decide not to make her a bigger part of the movie but some people suspect that one of the reasons why she is dumped so quickly in the movie is so the target audience doesn't have to deal with the suggestion of a mixed race relationship. Which I find a bit hard to believe since this really is no precedent in the history of US movies.

Secondly, it really doesn´t make any sense since what everybody hoped to see was more of Kiana Tom. Heck, I even found some fan fiction where Goldberg is not interrupted by JVCD ( typically he appears at the worst moment so we don´t see more of Kiana´s stunning physique ) and gets to unveil more of Kiana´s body before going down on her. And to show that others agree with me, here are some excerpts from various reviews :

After one of the most ridiculous opening jet - ski, machine gun scenes in cinema history, Kiana Tom's shirt got ripped open for a much too short bra shot. I immediately thought this movie, like sexpot Kiana, had potential.

The film opens with what the filmmakers hope is a pulse - pounding jaunt up a river, a jaunt filled with explosions, stunts, gunfire, and the briefest glimpse of Tom's incredibly fit form. As the mission grinds to a halt we learn several important things : Kiana Tom is incredibly hot but can't act her way out of a paper bag, JCVD has a daughter named Hillary who you just know will get into trouble at some point, and the only soldiers we must pay attention to are Goldberg and Michael Jai White.

Frankly, turning off the film immediately after glimpsing Tom's amazing physique is a good thing. Everything that follows is dull, predictable, and so full of plot holes as to defy description." Universal Soldier 2 "feels like eighty minutes of dental surgery rather than an action film.

Plot holes in this film are innumerable, as uncountable as grains of sand on the beach or acne on a teenager's face, but let's instead discuss the performances - or the lack thereof. I should say I adore Kiana Tom; she's drop dead gorgeous with a body that could stop the earth's rotation, but watching her stumble through dialogue is like having your appendix taken out through your mouth. Another problem is the lumbering Bill Goldberg, whose" funny "lines are anything but. And the more I think about Heidi Schanz, the less I think of her. You have to wonder about a film where Jean Claude Van Damme is the best thespian in the cast.

Here I hoped that Heidi Schanz was the name german Playboy centerfold Nadine Tschantz used in Hollywood since they tend to have difficulties with german names ( as some playmates have used other names to break into the business ) but this is a totally different woman that doesn´t quite share her physical qualities - or her proneness to get naked on celluloid.

Before we end the topic of the movie I can´t withhold what one reviewer refers to as the Jean Claude Van Damme Matrix for reviewing movies :

The Jean Claude Van Damme Review Matrix ( JCVD - RM )

1. Who is he ?

Luc Devereaux, the only remaining UNISOL from the first experiment. He now serves as technical expert to UNISOL 2500, the second generation, which has resulted in a stronger, faster, more deadly warrior.

2. Which family member / friend must be avenged ?

Not only does Dr. Dylan Cotner ( Xander Berkeley ) - the lead project scientist - get fried, but his daughter also falls into danger.

3. Does he take his shirt off ?

No, but Romeo, the alpha male of all the UNISOLs, is constantly shirtless. And Kiana´s shirt gets ripped off, although she wears a bra in the scene.

4. Does he have sex with a C - List actress ?

I hoped that there'd be copulation with his partner Maggie ( Kiana Tom ), but sad disappointment hit me when the credits rolled. Really guys, which producer who´s in his right mind passes up an opportunity to get a body like this naked ? Let´s just be realistic here. If a hot exotic sexbomb like Kianna with a pornstar hardbody that just won´t quit was my co - worker I´d spend all my free time slam - banging the living daylights out of her.

5. Is there a tournament ?

No structured tournament.

6. Is training needed for this tournament ?

As a regeneration from the first experiment, all the training he needs.

7. Does he do the splits in training or in the tournament ?

The splits are in full force when JCVD delivers a sack - stretching spin kick to SETH ( Michael Jai White ) - Self - Evolving Thought Helix - the computer system controlling the new genetically enhanced soldiers that implanted its programming and consciousness into human form.

8. Does he punch someone in the balls ?

Since the UNISOLs don't feel pain, but need to breathe, the throat - shot replaces the groin - shot in this one.

9. Does he do a series of flying or 360 kicks ?

OMG ! I'm dizzy !

10. Is his enemy unbeatable ?

SETH isn't quite SkyNet, and the UNISOLs aren't quite Terminators; so, JCVD has a manageable, yet difficult foe.

11. Does he overcome an injury or other hindrance ?

While Luc is battling the new and improved UNISOL army, he has to contend with an beautiful but irritating reporter named Erin.

12. Does he win ?

Judgment day averted.

And that´s all I´m going to say on the subject of UNIVERSAL SOLDIER II.

If the rumours on the internet can be trusted Kiana Tom is a very private person but still very business savy. And she waited with doing the pictures for PLAYBOY till she decided that she was in the best physical condition ( May of 2002 ). And I have to say : Thank you very much for that, Kiana !

Too many celebrities never grab the chance to do nude pictures when they are really in good condition, when their banging bodies are in their prime.

Then, twenty years ( or thirty years ) later their biological clock starts ticking, they want to prove they still look good and do some pictures.

Well, how are we supposed to come to a qualified decision ? We don´t know how she looked when she was young and sexy. So please girls, do some nude shots while you look good. Otherwise there is no proof.

Once again, time to wrap things up. As always I managed to talk about a lot of other stuff than Kiana Tom, but since the post is just an excuse to post as many pictures of her as possible I wanna wish her many returns !

Since I already did an all Kiana Tom video section in last year´s post I´ll do the usual selection this year. You can find a plethora of Kiana Tom videos on YouTube but to add something new here are two GIFs of Kiana.

I had to at least include one video with Today´s birthday sexbomb so here is one with Kiana Tom showing off her stunning physique in a bikini.

Space Girl is a video series I just recently discovered so you might already have heard of it. There are various episodes and making ofs on YouTube starring Lauren Franchesca as the busty heroine. I´m not sure in which order the videos are supposed to be watched but as far as I can tell this episode takes place right after she is swallowed by the Iron Giant. There is an origin episode but since it is not revealed if she is an original or one of the many clones we see I´m not sure if it´s the first episode. Apart from Lauren´s obvious charm and proneness to loose great parts of her wardrobe the production values are extremely good and the writing delivers the kind of retro style classic sci fi adventures I would like to see in a comic. According to imdb this was a tv series but I never heard of it.

When I first saw the picture below ( without the text, mind you ) I thought this was THE best STAR WARS cosplay ever. Holey Moley !!!

Instead it is a burlesque show about Star Wars that seems to be quite successful and they are playing their new show The Empire Strips Back.

Now with our next video I´m 100 percent sure it´s cosplay because it features international cosplay icon Yaya Han. She is one of the celebrities where looking for fake nude pictures on the internet is just an enourmous waste of time since what you find can never be as good as the real thing.

Speaking about nude pictures of Yaya Han there are some pictures of banker / model Li Ling Ling from Singapore a.k.a. Busty Singaporean ( 38DD - 25 - 34 ) on the internet which were supposedly " leaked " by an IT person who was repairing her laptop. For some reason these pictures are on various adult websites under the title of " nude pictures of Yaya Han ".

Coming back from the faked Yaya Han to the real deal I couldn´t find a video with her with all the ones I bookmarked which means I already posted the video with her cosplaying as the Scarlet Witch or I just can´t find it. In any case here is a rather new one I found and I tried to make a better animated GIF than the one above but right now imgflip does not work properly and I had to restart my computer to make the one above.

We´re ending the post with a video from Lip Sync Battle UK that has been requested numerous times by one reader : the ravishing Carol Vorderman.

Paul Ryan Flash Friday : Heart and Souls

$
0
0
Once again I´m late with the FLASH FRIDAY but this time I have a good excuse, I mean reason. In fact there are various good reasons for this.

The first and most important reason was to make this post possible. You see, up to THE FLASH 128, the issue I posted last week, I had all issues prepared in advance. Which is one of the reasons why the FLASH FRIDAY posts - at least for a while - were the only posts that came out regularly.

The only problem had been the special posts which interrupted the series and finding the time to write the posts. So I went to the website where I found the other issues but I could not get issue 128 of THE FLASH there.

What to do ? Now some people might say that now that the original Wally West Flash has returned in the DC REBIRTH universe there is no more need for these FLASH FRIDAY posts. Which is only partially true. Yes, one of my crazy ideas when I started this series was that if enough people got on the Wally West is the best Flash ever bandwagon that could generate enough buzz on the internet for DC to realize what a great character they are wasting. I am not sure if I really made a difference here. But the thing is that I also wanted to make people aware of the great run Wally West as the Flash had - the stories, the artwork, the character, the world building.

Now some might argue that too has become obsolete as the success of the tv series has finally prompted DC to reprint more Flash material which includes the FLASH run by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar and a separate line for Mark Waid´s run. Which means that I may finally be able to close one of the gaps in my comic collection - FLASH issue 70 - in May if only in trade form. Issue 1 is included in the THE FLASH - A CELEBRATION OF 75 YEARS hardcover which I initially bought as a birthday present for my brother ( but he told me he has no interest in the character ) so I don´t know if I will still be on the lookout for the issue in single form. Anyway, while together with the SHOWCASE editions and the FLASH BY GEOFF JOHNS omnibus books this might now be the time that most of the FLASH lore is available in collected editions I do not feel that my work is done.

Last but not least one of the reasons for the series was to make people aware of Paul Ryan´s work so I will at least try to continue until I have posted all of his issues of THE FLASH. After that I don´t know. Maybe I will continue in numeric order or start again with number 1. As for Paul Ryan, there is that epic FANTASTIC FOUR run where I have only started to show the tip of the iceberg. Even before Paul Ryan passed away I had started to collect material for a DEATH IN COMICS : THE DEATH OF REED RICHARDS post and although I have not written the post yet because it is macabre it would be sad to let all that work go to waste. And it would be a way to keep featuring one of my favorite artists and prove not all comics that came out in the 90s were as bad as their reputation at the same time.

Anyway, now that my resolve to continue with the FLASH issues by Paul Ryan had been invigorated the question was what to do ? I could use the meager material I had on the rest of the issues to write up a summary - or a few of them. But so far I have always posted entire issues and I wanted to continue in that vein. To make a long story short ( or at least shorter ), I found another source for the issue and hopefully it will be smooth sailings from now on even if I have to reduce each page to post them.

Okay, that was the first reason why this post is late. The second one has to do with superstition so I don´t know if all my readers will agree on the validity of it. When I had finally finished preparing all the pages and stuff and bells and whistles I realized that it was already very late. Now I have been trying to go to bed earlier and also get up earlier and do more work during the day - and so far failing miserably at that - so that was another argument to wait one day with the post. As was that I would be posting on Friday, the 13th. Now I´m not sure if I really am that superstitious or cautious just in case but I decided it would be best not to tempt fate.

And finally reason number three is that I wanted to make some animated GIFs for the celebrity birthday section which was supposed to reduce the babe factor on the blog ( I am conscientious that people have commented that I need to dial things down in that regards ) but which - like always - has taken up more time than anticipated. But I think it was worth it. In any case, now I have finished with the preparations, I got all my ducks lined up, from all the FLASH pages of this issue to the celebrity birthdays and the corresponding animated GIFs and even all the videos. If nothing unexpected comes up at the last minute all I have to do is post the thing.

Now this is part two of Hell to Pay and you might go back to last weeks post and read that first if you have missed it. This story not only has Jay Garrick, my favorite second world war speedster, and the complete JLA with Zapp ! Superman and Kyle Rayner but also the Rogues ( of whom you might have seen the redneck version of Captain Boomerang in the Suicide Squad movie ) who have turned into demons ( I think ) after the fallout of the UNDERWORLD UNLEASHED crossover event. Yep, Flash´s Rogues kicked the bucket in that one but you just can´t keep a good villain down. Neron was ultimately punked by the Trickster and couldn´t get the pure soul he was after but he always has a plan b and now he has set his sights on the scarlet speedster. But enough recap, let´s follow the story in progress.

So there you have it : Joe Quesada totally swiped the idea for BRAND NEW DAY from Mark Waid. Although he totally botched the story since he used it to undo 25 years of spider continuity. If you want to see how this kind of dilemma gets solved more elegantly by a good writer you will have to wait until our next FLASH FRIDAY because I don´t want to spoil things.

What I always found a bit strange is the lengths to which Joe Quesada went to eradicate every positive developments had happened in Peter Parker´s life going as far as bringing a possible future offspring of Peter and Mary Jane into the story only to tell people that this would not be happening in the future. Without commenting on the offspring Peter and Mary Jane already had in the present. Yes, most people forgot about it but it happened during the Clone Saga : they had a girl which was switched with a dead fetus and they were told that it was stillborn. Which is the story of Mayday Parker a.k.a. Spider - Girl. It seems everyone but me has totally forgotten this and if I could write one Spider - Man story that was what I would write. There would be a mysterious vigilante with spider powers and Peter would find out that this is his daughter. Although after the whole Marvel universe was destroyed in SECRET WARS III and then recreated by the Silver Surfer - and the whole Spider - Verse mischmasch - I don´t know if there still is a 616 Spider - Girl out there. Or any Spider - Girl. Or any trace of the 616 universe. Thank God the ALL - NEW, ALL - DIFFERENT Disney NOW universe has made things so much easier for us.

In any case, if you haven´t done so already your assignment is to go to your local comic shop or the internet and get EVERY issue you can of the one, true, MC2 Spider - Girl. This has my utmost recommendation !

Today´s birthday roll starts with Baywatch babes Nicole Eggert who turns 45 and Traci Bingham who turns 49. As longtime readers of this blog know I have done numerous re - posts of my Traci Bingham post and I thought this year I would just mention it in this post and then link to last year´s post .

Which would have worked if I hadn´t made new GIFs of Traci Bingham. Because after going over the old Traci Bingham posts I realized that not only would now my best GIFs of her not be on any of her posts the GIFs of all the other hot Baywatch babes were scattered all over the blog. So to make things easier I made a new post which naturally got completely out of hand and you can find it here . The good news is that I succeeded in not having so much stuff about Traci Bingham and Baywatch on this post. The bad news is that because of the new GIFs this post was delayed and the content of hot babes has not diminished on the blog. Aw, who cares ? I already said that I might make a new one if something tickled my fancy.

Originally I wanted to add the second Baywatch Special of Family Feud but I couldn´t find it for the life of me. Maybe I already posted it but after going through my bookmark list five times the point is moot. Now with every Traci Bingham re - post I come back to the subject of John Byrne´s X - Men run which after a few days prompts another X - Men post. Maybe this year I can finally find the time to do DEATH IN COMICS : THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION AND DEATH OF JEAN GREY a.k.a. The Dark Phoenix Saga. Which a lot of people think they know but they don´t. And since the Traci Bingham post is so packed I don´t want to add another video : 9 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About The X - Men which has in part to do with comics being complicated but also with people getting their knowledge from movies and cartoons instead of reading the comic books.

But even without Nicole Eggert and Traci Bingham we have no shortage of bikini clad beachbodies as Michael Worth celebrates his 52nd birthday who starred in a few martial arts movies but who is most famous for starring in the almost ( but not quite ) Andy Sidaris like tv series Acapulco H.E.A.T.

Although not to slight Michael Worth but he was not the main reason for me to watch the series. And I´m not talking about Fabio here either.

Especially playmate Alison Armitage made me watch more episodes than was healthy and I never understood why she didn´t get more screen time than Catherine Oxenberg. I mean, the producers had to pay her anyway and to just have her in a few short bits in most of the episodes must have been a waste of money. Maybe I am naiive but to me that sounds like you got two weapons - a pointed stick and a gun - and always use the stick. If it was me after a few times I´d say f - word the stick and go for the gun right away. But that is probably one of the things that are done because they have always been done that way and therefore nobody questions.

Because of that it was extremely difficult to find an episode with Alison Armitage doing more than just a short appearance ( I can´t believe how many episodes of Acapulco H.E.A.T. are on YouTube - which probaly won´t last very long ) and also with Michael Worth getting some exposure.

We are staying with 90s tv series but we get from the lower level to the top with Julia Louis Dreyfus who turns 56. To Today´s audiences she´s best known as Vice President Selina Meyer on the comedy show Veep but I saw her first as the funny and sexy Elaine Bennet on cult show Seinfeld.

Even though it was not shown to the general public in Germany ( they always aired it when most people were asleep ) I managed to catch a few with Elaine´s best scenes. Seinfeld has been in amazon´s bargain section a few times now but as always I didn´t have the money to spend.

So far I haven´t seen an episode of Veep which also is a frequent guest in amazon´s 3 tv seasons on DVD for only 25 Euros bargain deals section.

Michael Worth is also the connection to our next birthday since he was in an episode of The John Laroquette Show. Which brings us to Richard Moll who celebrates his 74th birthday has starred in The Flintstones, Jingle All The Way but is best known for playing Nostradamus " Bull " Shannon on Night Court alongside John Laroquette and 80s Power Girl Markie Post .

Now usually I don´t like to post two similar videos in one post and we already have a complete episode from a tv series but as I could not find an episode of Night Court I could not pass up the chance to post another episode of The Fall Guy. This is one of the episodes I vividly remember because Markie´s character Terri Michaels is constantly interrupted by Colt while trying to make out with a guy. Anyway, I also count this as the music video as the story takes place in Nashville and we get so see a few country star perform. As does Colt when he loses a bet with Howie and has to perform his ballad of the unknown stunt man before an audience. So for everyone who wanted to know who wrote the title song : Howie did it.

As always we end the post with a Flash video and as there are less and less left Today´s video is about the alternate versions of the Scarlet Speedster.

Erik Larsen Thorsday 3 : Wrecking Havok

Well, if you count the first Erik Larsen THORSDAY post I did which was all about the red bearded Thor from SAVAGE DRAGON as number 1 this is actually part 4 but we don´t want to overthink things too much here.

And speaking of the counterpart of Marvel´s blonde haired unbearded God of thunder from SAVAGE DRAGON some of my readers might be delighted to hear that while this is the last issue Erik Larsen did of Dan Jurgens´ SuperThor it is not the end of my THORSDAY WITH ERIK LARSEN series.

Now you might ask how come ? Well, to enlighten you, just the other day I was looking for something completely different - as usual - and came across the folder where I had put all the material from SAVAGE DRAGON that I might have needed to make the first Erik Larsen THORSDAY post. Well, as it turns out in that folder are two more complete issues of SAVAGE DRAGON where he squares of against the nordic deity so there are two more Erik Larsen THORSDAY posts coming up. Although the next post will probably be the already promised DEJA VUE post with all the homage covers for THE MIGHTY THOR 125. And there also may be a special edition of THORSDAY or two - you never know. Anyway, in this story Thor and the Warriors Three fight against The Wrecker and his Wrecking Crew.

By the way, even if I believe that what was told in Secret Wars 7 is what really happened between She - Hulk and the Wrecking Crew ( in the story She - Hulk wants to avenge the Wasp´s supposed death and takes on the whole Wrecking Crew until Titania blindsides her and they almost beat her to death with the help of Doctor Octopus and the Absorbing Man ) and not the version where Marvel white washed a gang rape how is it that there never was any kind of retaliation from She - Hulk against the sick Wrecking Crew ? In all the stories I can remember she only was furious at Titania, who all things considered, was one of the main factors why it happened but the Wrecking Crew were not exactly innocent bystanders.

Comics are strange. Anyway, let´s continue with the story in progress.

So this is my 830th post according to the blog statistics which means that post number 850 is only 20 posts away and with the posts about Kianna Tom and Sabrina Salerno already written this means I have to do 18 posts and then I´m good. So there is still hope that I will manage to do that until the blog´s anniversary in April. As most of Today´s material has already been prepared long ago and I blew out all my Thor links there is not much to add but as I DID mention She Hulk I want to put up the link for SCANS DAILY because it has some pages from SENSATIONAL SHE - HULK 50 where Marvel had some great pages by different artists and then explained in the story why they did not get the job of new penciler on the book. And by explained I mean came up with all kind of bogus bs and phony crap as the real reason was probably money. I mean, seriously - the whole we can´t use somebody like Adam Hughes because we have a certain percentage of female readers is total nonsense because a. ) that would have to be a pretty high percentage of female readers on SHE - HULK, much higher than what the other books get because you never heard that kind of argument with THE FANTASTIC FOUR or THE AVENGERS and b. ) Adam Hughes is one of the few so - called babe artists whom women like because he doesn´t resort to exaggerated proportions or draw women in lewd poses so yeah, Marvel has always been lying to its readers and this is not a new thing.

Today´s first birthday shoutout goes to Matthew Gray Gubler who turns 37. There´s not much to say here apart from the fact that I always wanted an excuse to put his name on the blog. I stopped watching Criminal Minds because watching too many crime shows became too depressing for me but the name Matthew Gray Gubler still cracks me up. What can I say ? I still find names that sound funny or have an actual meaning in german - like Michelle Trachtenberg or David Krumholtz - funny. Apart from hunting down evil serial killers Matthew also voiced the Riddler and Jimmy Olsen.

Ever since I did this year´s post on Gail Kim I have decided to put more female wrestlers on the blog and while I already missed Tylene " what rhymes with "Buck´s birthday on Tuesday ( I cast her as Ice in my JLA movie ) I´m right on time as Melina Perez celebrates her 38th anniversary.

Because of her stunning physique and her athleticism Melina quickly became a crowd pleaser not in the least because of her unique way of entering the squared circle that drove all males at ringside into a frenzy.

Here´s one of her legendary epic matches against Gail Kim and there is just something about watching two hot women going at it with no quarter asked that can´t be explained, it has to be experienced.

Speaking of legendary hot women, cult siren Ornella Muti turns 62 who is best known to american audiences - at least the ones from my generation - as Princess Aura in the 1980 adaption of newspaper strip Flash Gordon.

To european movie goers she was known as the stunningly beautiful - and quite often scantily clad - romantic interest in dozens of romcoms, a lot of them starring Adriano Celentano as the gruffy guy with the soft interior.

Here is a short retrospective of Ornella´s movies ( even her name sounds sensual ). When they made her they sure broke the mold. Grazie Ornella.

We start our Dearly Departed section with Mickey Spillane and another episode from the Mike Hammer tv series whose big attraction were the many sexbombs in short guest roles, called the Hammerettes. They even had real life Power Girl and playmate Karen Witter / Lorre in one episode.

This is the last episode I could find on YouTube so I hope somebody else uploads a few more until Mickey Spillane´s next anniversary.

Another birthday candidate is Raul Julia and since he starred in the only good movie adaptions of The Addams Family I wanted to post a video from that franchise but it seems I either already put all of the ones I bookmarked on the blog or the ones I had left were all deleted. Then I remembered that he also starred in the Street Fighter movie with Kylie Minogue and Marvel´s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.s Ming - Na Wen as Chun Li.

I also wanted to acknowledge Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space and after going through my complete list of bookmarked videos I chose one I found rather recently. What I find absolutely fascinating about cartoon shows is that just when you think you know most of the animated tv shows you come across something you have never heard of like Space Sentinels.

Monday with the Legion of Super - Heroes

After working on the Simona Ventura birthday post - which is not due until April - for the last few days I´m taking things slow to do a quick post.

Way back when I did the Tom Peyer post last month it was very hard to pick just one cover from his run on LEGION OF SUPER - HEROES and ever since I wanted to put more covers by the great Alan Davis on the blog.

A few of these covers are homages to other covers and as I know how much you like the DEJA VUE section I have included the original covers and some other homage covers where I deemed it necessary although I have not included all homage covers since there are a few very familiar among them who have been copied a dozen of times. And there are some where I´m not entirely sure if I have picked the right ones as originals. I still hope there are a few covers among them you have not seen before.

Now those readers who don´t like my extra long celebrity birthday / entertainment sections will be glad to read that since there are no special birthdays of notice Today we make it short and sweet Today. On the other hand it means that I get to pick all the videos without the need to fit a certain topic so be careful what you wish for because you might just get it. Since the Legion of Super - Heroes is a science fiction comic I thought this video about how the future used to look does fit right in because the Legion also presented a different version of the future in each decade.

To keep with the theme of science fiction and how we tought the future would look I originally posted a song about the year 2000 from La Parodia Nacional but then I came across possibly the coolest music video in my entire life : True Survivor by The Hoff from Kung Fury. The music video was made for a kickstarter for a film and while the money they raised was not enough for a full length feature they DID make a 30 minute short film .

Since the Legion of this post has also been called the Archie Legion I wanted to include a cartoon video from that company. Like with Smallville a lot of people didn´t know that the tv series Sabrina, The Teenage Witch with Melissa Joan Hart was based on a comic book series. Although I have to say that they did turn Sabrina´s aunts from old hags into hot MILFs.

Now while we probably never will see WWE diva Ashley Massaro as Sabrina I wanted to include her in Today´s post. On her last birthday I could not include her in the post because I didn´t have very much on her but since I just recently found a few videos of her matches I want to correct that regrettable oversight. Unless the knockouts from TnA´s iMPACT Wrestling the WWE divas are picked more for their good looks than for their abilities as wrestlers - which is stressed by the fact that Ashley Massaro was in the Playboy issue of April 2007 thanks to her 36E - 24 - 32 measurements - but I have to say that she shows incredible muscle control during her warm up.

The match for which Ashley is warming up is against Jillian Hall who - at least according to the internet sources - has the same cup size as Ashley. Does anybody have more information on that ? I mean often you read that two women have the exact same breast size but when you see them next to each other one of them seems to have bigger breasts than the other.

I wanna end Today´s post with this fan made short because I want this to go viral so everybody can send this to Zack Snyder. So far I have managed to avoid all Justice League trailers but judging from Batman vs Superman - Dawn of Justice this is more fun than whatever crap Zack is cooking up.

Since I already wrote the Kiana Tom re - post ahead of time I have a bit of leeway which I´m using to continue a series I let languish for too long.

That´s right. Here´s another batch of comic covers by the great late Gil Kane and this time it´s all about the horror titles. A lot of these are from Marvel´s GIANT - SIZE books for which Gil did dozens of covers, in fact he did so many that there will be at least one more post about them. Right now I´m not sure if I should put some of them into another post since I usually only put around 25 in one post or just do one big giant - sized post with the remaining few. That would be fitting wouldn´t it ? Anyway, here are some of Marvel´s biggest horror / monster title covers by the master.

Stephen R Bissette celebrates his 62nd birthday who is best known for his collaboration with Alan Moore and John Totleben on DC´s Swamp Thing.

I picked part 2 of Amy Dallen´s Swamp Thing Halloween Special because part 1 is all about Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson´s classic version of the muck monster. But for those readers who still want to watch it in order and start with the first part to get the full experience here is the link .

Billy Cristal 69 Jeff Goldblum as Buck Wolf and Valerie Perrine as Tina

Our cartoon video comes courtesy of Herman van Veen who turns 72. The dutch stage performer, actor, musician, singer, songwriter and author who was born as Hermannus Jantinus van Veen created Alfred Jadocus Kwak and the original one man theater show was adapted as a dutch / german / japanese cartoon which was broadcast internationally and in addition to create the show´s story Herman van Veen also wrote, composed and performed most of the show´s music. And there is a comic adaption.

I looked for some episodes that were dubbed in english but since I could not find any complete ones here is episode one from the show in german.

Quincy Jones 83 also producer of the fresh prince of bel air

Of course a big part of that show´s success and continued appeal around the world ( there are probably only a few people on the face of the planet who can´t recite the lyrics to the title song in their sleep ) is Tatyana Ali who grew from a cute little girl into an incredible sexbomb over the course of that series and who got to show her musical skills.

Much to the chagrin of the show´s producers she really bOObed all out in later movie appearances like The Clown at Midnight or Fall Into Darkness .

In fact, since I didn´t know she was born in Hawaii I cast her as Psylocke in multiple comic book casting posts on my old blog.

Speaking of superheroine casting, it´s strange but in all previous version of this post I forgot to mention that I cast Kiana Tom as the female post CRISIS Dr. Light in my first CASTING THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MOVIE ( THE HOLLYWOOD EDITION ) post and I also mentioned her in my second alternates post as part of an lesbian all asian double dildo fourway sex orgy with porn star Miko Lee, fetish model Akira Lane and cosplay goddess Yaya Han. Any excuse to put another pair of oppai in the movie.

After one of the most ridiculous opening jet - ski, machine gun scenes in film history, Kiana Tom's shirt got ripped open for a much too short bra shot.

Here I hoped that Heidi Schanz was the name german Playboy centerfold Nadine Tschantz used in Hollywood since they tend to have difficulties with german names ( as some playmates have used other names to break into the business ) but this is a totally different woman that does not share her physical qualities - or her proneness to get naked on celluloid.

Too many celebrities never grab the chance to do nude pictures when they are in good condition, when their banging bodies are in their prime.

Since I did an all Kiana Tom video section in my first Kiana Tom post I posted only one Kiana Tom video last year but there are just too much hot videos of her on YouTube that once a year is not enough. I had hoped to be able to post more of her videos on other posts but that didn´t happen and so I am including five new videos this year. Although her swimsuit videos are rather short and of low quality I still wanted to include them. And like I said last year you can find much more Kiana Tom on YouTube.

This year I am breaking the only five videos per post rule to begin with the other celebrity birthdays of Today. Maybe next year I can do a post on one of them and cross a few others from that list. In keeping with the asian sexsation theme of the post our first candidate is Grace Park who turns 43 and struts her stuff on Hawaii Five O after playing the toaster every potent guy would love to use for breakfast in Battlestar Galactica.

Speaking of Hawaii Five O, am I the only one who finds it a bit hard to believe that a potent stud like Alex O´Loughlin and a hasian mega sexbomb like Grace Park were just good friends during shooting ? I bet every time the rest of the crew left for the weekend Alex dragged Grace into his trailer where he relentlessly banged her brains out until Monday.

Speaking of relentlessly banging someone´s brains out, italian real life Power Girl Emanuela Botto has gotten uncounted requests so here´s another video with her. I still haven´t found any information on her so I can´t tell you her age or cupsize but apparently she works at teleshopping channel 84 which sells women´s jewellery and judging by the many close ups on her chest she could have easily starred in a Russ Meyer movie. I don´t know what the sales numbers on this blow up sex doll are but her ratings must be through the roof among the male audience members.

Her lips were just made to give hard schlongs oral pleasure and with her impressive melons she must make little boys reach puberty prematurely on a daily basis. Man, I´d love to see her and Daniela Elger compete for the title of the biggest boobs on teleshopping in a wet t - shirt contest. It took me an extra day to go through her videos - which further delayed finishing the post but these are the sacrifices I am willing to make for my readers - but I finally settled on this great video . For obvious reasons the videos where she presents necklaces are the best and I can only repeat Emanuela´s own words : Que maravilla ! Guardate que espectacolo !

We return to asian sexbombs with international cosplay goddess Yaya Han since I mentioned her in the post and like Kiana Tom there are not enough posts to put all her videos on the blog. I have chose a video where she cosplays as X - Force´s Domino and I can easily imagine her as the super spy who uses everything in her arsenal - especially her mesmerizing XXL mutant measurements and her superior sex techniques - to get what she wants. Man, Yaya Han really is one of the celebrities where looking for fake nude pictures on the internet is just an enormous waste of time since whatever you may find can never be as good as the real thing.

Now as you can see above this woman has an impressive chest but it´s only 38DD. Yaya is two sizes bigger ! Then I thought about asian porn star Hitomi Tanaka as Yaya´s boob double but I guess that´s taking it too far.

Although I definitely would try to find some way to put her in my Justice League Of America movie maybe as Chesire, Lady Shiva or sorceress Circe.

Mega endowed Hitomi certainly has the ability to turn all men into horny, drooling pigs even without any magic tricks - well, besides boob magic.

Coming back from the faked Yaya Han to the real deal I am not sure if this is an old video since it´s from 2011 or a new one since I have not seen it before. In any case it also features Riki Lecotey a.k.a. Riddle and Marie Claude Bourbonnais and it has a rare treat since we get to see the full figure of Yaya Han and her back which are covered in most Yaya videos.

You are probably already sick and tired of the obligatory Hyuna video after a Yaya Han video ( or you might have already watched all of her videos on YouTube ) so to switch things up here is the now defunct south korean girl group Rainbow Blaxx. The most famous and bustiest member is front babe Kim Jae - Kyung and there was some kind of scandal where a memo with the secret bust sizes of the Rainbow girls was released without their consent which caused a negative backlash because Kim is ( only ! ) a 32B.

In Spain Ibáñez was the " King of Comics "

It is kind of strange that two people who had a big influence on my life - pop sexbomb Sabrina Salerno and Francisco Ibáñez - share a birthday and since I already did the re - post of italian cult siren Sabrina Salerno I want to seize the chance to pay homage to one of the great comic masters.

Especially since I do not think he is well known outside of Europe. In his native country of Spain he is of course a legend and he is also very present in the german comic market since a lot of his series have been translated here, especially his most famous series MORTADELO Y FILEMON about two very special secret agents which was published under names like FLIP UND FLAP although they are best known as CLEVER & SMART which was coined by the Condor Verlag which published their adventures here for decades.

Now since I already had a lot of material which I prepared for a post on MORTADELO Y FILEMON I thought the bulk of the post would be a few covers from Ibáñez´ other series and lots of MORTADELO Y FILEMON covers. But then I went on the internet looking for more stuff from his other comics and while I knew that he did a lot of spin offs and crossovers ( the character from his series always appeared in other series and the successful ones got their own series ) I had no idea how many series he actually had done and so the more I found the less stuff from MORTADELO Y FILEMON could be included in the post. While I am not going to do the lengthy post I had planned in my head y still wanted to show the range of Ibáñez´ work while putting more covers from MORTADELO Y FILEMON on the blog. In the end I have decided to do two posts, this one which will include stuff from all of his series and a second one which will go online Tomorrow AFTER the Sabrina Salerno post and that one will be all about the cover layouts of MORTADELO Y FILEMON from different countries.

Since not all of Ibáñez comic strips got their own magazine I had to use a lot of interior pages for those and I also included some for the series that relied on visual gags or page layout. I have used covers where I could.

Since I had to do quite a lot of research for this post there is a long list of Thank Yous for all the fine people out there who have provided all the necessary material starting with EL BLOG DE JUAN A. ROS which provided the double page spread from La Familia Repollino above and also the page from the comic Dona Pura y Dona Pera, vecina de escalera . The page from Godofredo y Pascualino with the ad for Capitan Trueno Extra de Verano was found on TEBEOSYTEBEOS where you can find many more pages and also an archive of every character Bruguera ever published . Speaking of the Bruguera series you can find a lot of pages from Anacleto, Agente Secreto at COMICRAZYS and 13 RUE BRUGUERA has an article on Sir Tim O´Theo by Joan Rafart Roldán that british readers might find interesting.

And apropos interesting reads, TEENAGE THUNDER has a post on the epic crossover with Zipi y Zape in the pages of Mortadelo y Filemon and as we are on the subject of crossovers, FANCUEVA has a post on the on another Mortadelo y Filemon interaction with another comic. This time it´s El Capitan Trueno and during the story Mortadelo shows what a stud he is by scoring with Capitan Trueno´s female companion Sigrid. Way to go, mack !

Speaking about Mortadelo´s adventures with the ladies, MORTADELO Y ALGO MAS has an article on Irma, the blonde sexbomb with the Sophia Loren measurements that was introduced in the late 80s as a counterpoint to overweight and choleric secretary Ofelia and speaking of Irma, ADLO has a post on Los Superpoderes where she appeared in underwear which certainly was one of the high water marks in spanish comic book history.

For more on buxom babe Irma LOS MEJORES CHISTES DE MORTADELO Y FILEMON has a post on Terroristas in which she first appeared as well as on El Ansia del Poder , Armas Con Bicho , El Huerto Siniestro and many more and for more on Mortadelo y Filemon consult the official LA PAGINA NO OFFICIAL DE MORTADELO Y FILEMON . We still have some kudos to hand out : the 13 Rue del Percebe styled La Casera ad and the double pages spread from the follow up series 7 Rebolling Street comes from CINE TV COMICS and the other page from 13 Rue del Percebe is from EL PAIS .

I also want to include the link for EL DIBUJANTES WEBLOG which has a post on F. Ibanez´ first works, the aptly named COMIC IS ART has more F. Ibanez art, TEBEOSFERA presents a Rompetechos cover gallery, you can find a super extensive article about the role of women and children in the pages of comic publisher Bruguera on DE TODO UN POCO with tons of pics by a whole plethora of diverse artists of which some may find their way into future posts on this blog and there´s also a post on Zipi y Zape .

Speaking about women in comics there is a post about the pin up art Vazquez secretly did under the pseudonym of Elvaz at PENSION EL CALVARIO that I found thanks to EL TIO VAZQUEZ DOS PUNTO CERO

And for more about spanish comics just go to FACTORIA DEL COMIC . As this goes online before the Sabrina Salerno re - post I want to include a few birthdays that I did not get to mention in that post beginning with Bob Budiansky who turns 63. Which started out as kind of an error since I thought he was the guy who did the inks on the first american Captain America issues I read when in fact he is best known for his work on Marvel´s Transformer series and co - creating Sleepwalker, one of my favorite comics from the 90s. Oh, he also wrote all issues of that series.

We make the jump to Germany with underground artist Gerhard Seyfried who has his 69th birthday ahead of him. Here you don´t have to explain who he is since his cartoon collections Freakadellen und Bulleten and his comic Invasion aus dem Alltag are required reading for all school kids. And since his complete works have been collected in omnibus hardcovers long before Marvel ever had the idea he´s part of most german bookshelves.

To complete the comic book artist birthday trifecta - or rather quartet if you count Francisco Ibanez - a final shoutout goes to the late Dan Adkins.

If you are a fan of Marvel´s ESSENTIAL line or the MARVEL MASTERWORKS - or now the Epic Collections - his name will pop up there constantly since he not only drew a lot of the issues in the Silver Age but also inked all the greats like John Buscema, Gene Colan, Gil Kane or John Byrne to name just a few. He really deserves a post of his own but as usual all the pages I have from him are dispersed over many folders. It´s impossibly to squeeze an entire career into a few paragraphs but luckily THE COMICS JOURNAL has an extensive biography on Dan Adkins and the always reliable folks at TWOMORROWS have two interviews with Dan Adkins, one conducted by Roy Thomas about his work with Wally Wood from Alter Ego Vol 3 issue 8 and one by John B. Cooke about his work on the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents series from Comic Book Artist issue 14 . And if you ask yourself why you should check out the work of this comic icon here is my favorite Doctor Strange cover by Gene Colan - possibly the first I saw - which he inked.

Happy sling bikini birthday Tylene Buck !

Today wrestling valet / female wrestler / pornographic actress / swimsuit model Tylene Buck Hesemann a.k.a. Brandi Wylde celebrates her 45th birthday so I thought it´s about time to giver her a post of her own.

This gives me the chance to wax nostalgic about the time when wrestling was still worth watching because while the 90s were not that good for comics the decade was great for wrestling as more hot sexbombs became active inside and outside of the ring. It was the time of the Nitro Girls, the first Divas and generally female wrestlers looked more like centerfolds and porn stars than athletes. Which brings us to the star of Today´s post.

THE INTRO or WE ALL KNOW WHAT RHYMES WITH TYLENE BUCK

Sexbomb Tylene was one of the main candidates from the SEARCH FOR POWER GIRL series on my old boob blog because of her big 34Es and what is kind of funny is that the name she used for doing adult movies, Brandi Wylde sounds less like a porn name than Major Gunns or Tylene Buck.

She´s one of the most used massitas on my banners and not only because her name rhymes with s - word and f - word ..... you know what I mean.

As Major Gunns ( originally they wanted to call Tylene´s character Torpedo Girl for obvious reasons ) she made all wrestling fans happy giving mouth to mouth or ripping her shirt off with her signature " bombs away "move.

Tylene was first introduced as part of the NWO harem and she always had hot outfits either as a horny secretary in a business suit with a huge cleavage that showed off her incredible bust or as a lace and leather clad party girl with not much left to the imagination doused in champagne .

And let´s not forget all the glorious times when she was wearing an itsy bitsy bikini and lounging in the pool with the other NWO Busenwunder.

I have not found any clips from her secretary phase but I will add some material as soon as I find it. She then became part or better moral / sex support for the Misfits In Action and I can only speculate what kind of demented marathon sex orgies those degenerates subjected Tylene to.

She was then kidnapped by Lance Storm and pressed into service for Team Canada although she had to undergo a grueling training to become a Canadian - which was mostly and excuse for the male members of Team Canada to get Tylene Buck all sweaty and then drool all over her tits.

As a - at first reluctant - member of Team Canada Tylene was not allowed to show off her assets ( and her breast - ets ) like before despite wearing a very suggestive outfit. Talk about sending mixed messages Lance Storm.

But her breast ... I mean best moments were outside of wrestling in the IRON MAN swimsuit videos ( she´s on volumes 3, 4 and 5 ) when she modeled supertiny microbikinis or released her big 34E airbags.

THE CONTINUATION or THE LEGION OF SUPER - BABES ROLL CALL

And the IRON MAN swimsuit videos are real swimsuit videos. Not Making Ofs like the ones the WWE peddles. I remember one of the videos had her,

Linda ONeal ( whom I cast as Zatanna in the part of my CASTING THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MOVIE series that also includes Tylene Buck and most of the other hot swimsuit models / wrestling babes from this ),

philipino, irish and navajo indian swimsuit supermodel Cori Nadine and

LeAnna Scott ( because of her 5'4'' height and her incredible 36DD - 22 - 33 measurements her bust looks super huge compared to her slim body ).

MAI, MY FAVORITE MONTH OF THE YEAR or MAI ASIAN PERSUASION

Christina Mai, aka Le Anna Scott is a bikini model from Saigon, Vietnam.

Part of her popularity was due to her strikingly exotic good looks and her fit body, but her popularity really blew up when it was found that she had done several hardcore videos in her early years. In fact, LeAnna Scott was one of the first “ glamour ” models in the internet age to be exposed as having recorded a hardcore porn video. It was thought that LeAnna had done 2 hardcore scenes, but she had in fact done a lot more than that.

After LeAnna Scott’s hardcore stint she transitioned into modeling for big sites such as Playboy, Mac & Bumble, Blue Nudes, and Mystique, as well as appearing on model sites belonging to Shae Marks, Sung Hi Lee and Alley Baggett. LeAnna also did various Ironman swimsuit videos as well.

In 2004, she did a nude set from Blue Nudes which also featured Alley Baggett. It was one of her last nude photosets. Afterwards, LeAnna converted to her real name of Christina Mai and has only sought to do mainly non - nude modeling. The good news is that she is still hot !

LeAnna’s favorite quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “ Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ”

The video also featured April Hunter - a NWO babe like Tylene - and it had a warning at the beginning that it was dangerous for the faint of heart.

BACK TO BASICS or TYLENE UND HERRSCHEN ( WHO GOT THAT JOKE ? )

Because not only did it have one of the best and bustiest selection of swimsuit models ever their bikinis were so skimpy they were almost naked. One of the best IRONMAN Swimsuit Spectaculars I have ever seen.

Now some people might say that Tylene Buck is not a good fit for the Justice League Europe´s Ice since her character is most often written as shy and the goody goody one but she has become more confident lately.

Although with the NEW 52 you never know. Anyway, who says the nice girl can´t look like a playmate ? Blue and white are definitely Tylene´s colors.

I was looking for something more to add about Tylene Buck - like the brief biography of Leanna Scott - but most of the bios you can find online say basically the same. There are also some interviews I found but because they mostly covered her work in the adult movie industry I couldn´t post them. For any interested parties I want to mention that Tylene Buck enjoys doing it with other women and describes herself as a bi - sexual.

The interviews I CAN post are about her wrestling career and even if they are a bit old they have lots of interesting information. There is one on CRIMSONMASK ( no author given ) and one on WRESTLING EYE MAGAZINE by Mike Parker in twoparts . As for pictures I think you find the best ones here but there are much more on the internet - especially the NSFW ones.

Since December 2005 Tylene Buck has been doing adult films for Seymore Butts` Lighthouse Talent Agency and I swear I didn´t make that name up.

So this is my new cult siren post about Tylene Buck where I have gathered all the best material I currently have - and am comfortable with sharing on my blog - so I can link to it on future occassions although I hope I can find new clips for more animated GIFs when the re - post is due next year.

THE BONUS ROUND or WHY DON`T YOU TRY GOOGELING MARSHAL LAW ?

Since I put some Tylene Buck videos in the part above I am using my five videos for the addendum starting with Cully Hamner who celebrates his 48th birthday. Now since he created the origin material for a blockbuster with Bruce Willis most people would probably write about that but I tell you forget Red. Forget the other series he worked on like Black Lightning : Year One and I´m going as far as to say forget even the Blue Beetle series where Jaime Reyes first took up the mantle of Blue Beetle from Ted Kord.

You know, the series I am always pimping. Because what you need to do is put all that stuff to the wayside, completely ignore it and get the Green Lantern : Mosaic series by Gerard Jones which was Cully Hamner´s first big break. The reason why I´m so adamant about this ( longtime readers may remember that I pimped the series back in 2006 ) is that THIS is the best Green Lantern comic - and for some the best comic PERIOD - you will read in your whole life. I mean, no offense to other writers like Geoff Johns but compared to this you can throw everything he has written in the bin.

To my knowledge the series has not been collected in trade so far which either has to do with the fact that it came out in the 90s or that the people who make these decisions at DC have no idea about the long and rich history of the company they are working for - as I always suspected.

Hasian sexbomb Chona Jason turns 54 who is best known for her steamy sex massage / threesome scene in Sinful Intrigue where she plays Mai - Ling ( really, like there are no other names for asian women, but that´s Hollywood for you ). The main character of that movie is played by Becky Mullen so if you want to read more about the movie check out her post .

It´s back to comics with Peter Gross who celebrates his 59th birthday and has written Vertigo titles like Books Of Magic, The Unwritten and Lucifer.

Since I have not read a single issue of Lucifer yet ( I hear it´s currently ruined in from of a tv series ) and only three trades from the tail end of The Unwritten my video is a review of The Books Of Magic. This is a series I always plan to get back to but then I never find the time to sit down and do an inventory of which issues and trades I already own and which not.

Pat Mills - the godfather of british comics - turns 68 and he earned that title by revitalising british boy comics in the 1970s through the creation of cult comic book series 2000 AD together with John Wagner. He also played a major part in the development of Judge Dredd. But when I first heard of Pat Mills I knew none of that since to me he was just one of the creators of Marshal Law and one of the reasons why his name stuck in my mind for all these years is that when I first discovered Marshal Law it was almost impossible to find issues. You really had to hunt for them and each time you found a new issue it was like a small victory. Now the whole material is available in one big omnibus ( I´m afraid I will have to buy that one only to have everything in one place but like with the Books Of Magic series I never get around to do it ) and you can find more on MARS WILL SEND NO MORE , THE STUDENT REVIEW , THE COMIC WATCHER and COMIC ATTACK .

I didn´t really think I would find any interesting videos of Marshal Law on YouTube but here is an episode of Night Network with both creators.

Alan Weiss celebrates his 69th birthday and if you read more older stuff in the Marvel Essentials, Marvel Epic Collections or DC´s Showcase Presents his name keeps popping up a lot since he has worked on a plethora of comic books for Marvel and DC during his long career. And if that wasn´t enough he is also the creator of Steelgrip Starkey And The All - Purpose Power Tool which must be one of the longest titles in comic history.

Another shoutout goes to the late Gray Morrow who has worked for practically every big comic company and was the co - creator of Marvel´s Man - Thing and DC´s old west vigilante El Diablo. Apart from his work in comics he also was an illustrator for many science fiction magazines and did most of the covers of the american version of the Perry Rhodan paperback - book series. I swear I had another bookmark for Perry Rhodan besides MD Jackson´s post on AMAZING STORIES but like always I will probably find it when I´m looking for something completely different.

Originally I wanted to add the psychodelic Perry Rhodan movie from the 1970s but the quality on that is not so good and if you want to see it out of curiosity you can easily find it in german and in english on YouTube.

We close things out with german screen legend Heinz Rühmann whose work I have always thoroughly enjoyed. He mostly played funny roles but he also was a great character actor and my first version of Pater Braun.

I don´t think I have mentioned it on the blog before but Heinz Rühmann actually played a man who gets super powers in The Man Who Walked Through The Wall and he is actually called a Super - Man in the movie.

Sabrina Salerno´s bouncing action birthday

$

Today one of my all time favorite cult sirens, Sabrina Salerno celebrates her 49th birthday so it is once again time for the annual re - post of her.

This year I really thought I could skip this and just mention her birthday and then put up a link but after going over her old posts the last few days I realized there are some things I wanted to add or change and as usual when an idea gets stuck in my head I can´t work on anything else. At first I was just preparing all the material but after I had done that I thought I could go on and just do it so I can be done with it. So this post is basically the same as last year´s post although with a few changes and since I have posted the same videos two years in a row I initially didn´t want to put any Sabrina Salerno music videos in this post but after going through my bookmarks I realized there were a few I want to put on the blog. And since I don´t want to spread them out over the next few posts I decided to put them here. But don´t worry you will still get a complete new video addendum out of this. And if you still want to see more Sabrina Salerno videos just go to YouTube or check out last year´s Sabrina Salerno birthday post . And with that out of the way let´s get to our main topic : Today´s celebrity birthday babe, italian sexbomb extraordinaire Sabrina Salerno.

Sabrina was mostly known for two things ..... well, actually three things : the twins ( obviously ! ), lots of wardrobe malfunctions of the tiniest outfits that were riding up or wet t - shirts and see - through bikinis.

Last but not least she was famous for her scorching liveperformances .

Which were much better than most videos because of the bouncing action she invented long before japanese games designers had the idea.

Whatcan I say, it was the 80s and I was a young lad in the prime of his hormonal virility and I was easily distracted ( or sexually aroused ).

For those who didn´t live the 80s I should probably explain that at that time there were a lot of ultrahot sexbombs who tried - and most were mildly successful - to enter the charts through their physical attributes.

Music videos were something new and at first it was just doing any kind of video for Mtv, which at that time showed music videos instead of cartoons, animes or reality shows. The visual aspect was very important especially when somebody realized that it greatly benefited the video and therefore sales ( back then videos that were played on tv equaled record sales ) if the singer was hot or there were some scantily clad playmates.

The most successful member of this club was either sexbomb Sabrina Salerno or page 3 girl Samantha Fox depending on where you lived.

If you lived in the United Kingdom, Samantha naturally had more fans because of her nude pictures in THE SUN and various men´s magazines.

And if you lived in one of the countries that did not show the uncensored version of Sabrina Salerno´s video for her worldwide smash hit BOYS BOYS BOYS on tv like Germany Samantha Fox was the bigger star there.

If you lived in Italy, which was Sabrina Salerno´s home country she was of course the big star there since she won her first beauty contest with 15.

She was also pretty big in most countries that showed the uncensored version of BOYS BOYS BOYS like in Spain although I never saw it there.

Sabrina owes most of her career to that video and the tiny bikini top that couldn´t contain her massive ..... talents. It was quite simple : since the song had been released before without much success until the production company realized that they should make a video with such a sexbomb.

They decided to put Sabrina into a pool where she was singing and getting

all wet wearing a very transparent white bikini. As the shooting went on it became obvious her voluptuous breasts were waaay too heavy for her

top. It kept sliding down lower and lower and showing part of her nipples

which already were very clearly visible through the thin white fabric so she had to pull it up numerous times before they completely fell out .

Sabrina managed to do that in a way that got you a good look at her milkshakes and the director was smart enough to leave it in the video

( he even included it in slow motion ) and the rest is as they say history.

They couldn´t completely ignore Sabrina in Germany because even though television only showed her cut video she somehow managed to become number 1, which I think had something to do with her hot pictures that appeared in youth magazines like BRAVO or even men´s magazines.

So they had to invite her to FORMEL EINS which was the music tv for german teenagers. The show was a total train wreck, they always cut the videos because the producer of the show was in Bavaria and they are very catholic and prudish down there. When Sabrina was there as a guest they didn´t play her video and told her she had to do a live performance. Which was obviously more than they bargained for because Sabrina began to shake rattle and roll her boobs up and down like there´s no Tomorrow.

Of course they were appalled but they could not do anything against it. The camera man tried to prevent the worst by doing a lot of close ups and just filming Sabrina´s head but as you can see it didn´t help that much.

Speaking about Sabrina Salerno on german tv : in 1988 she appeared on Die Spielbude in Mallorca and I had the luck of taping it but my mother caught me and when she commented how big Sabrina´s breasts are I was so embarrassed that I deleted it. Now there were other live performances of Sabrina on german tv but not nearly as many as on spanish tv, and not many of them which I caught and was able to record. So this was one of her few rare appearances on german tv and because I was too young and stupid I erased it. Now of course there is the internet and YouTube where you can watch videos with Sabrina in all her glory - unless it gets deleted.

On the british tv show TOP OF THE POPS something similar to what happened on Formel Eins occured : they wouldn´t play her music video because it was way to sexual - well, too bad for them because her sexy live performance was even hotter which in the end won over millions of fans and shot a whole generation of british boys into puberty prematurely.

But she really got famous through her New Year´s performance on spanish tv in 1988 where she sang her song HOT GIRL and her breasts got out of control and popped out of her top. In Germany they would have censored it but the spanish tv immediately put it on a loop and kept showing it in slow motion during her live performance. It is her best known clip ever.

In Germany Sabrina is always labeled a one hit wonder although she had over a dozen Top Twenty hits worldwide like BOYS ( SUMMERTIME LOVE ) , SEXY GIRL , HOT GIRL , ALL OF ME ,  ( version 2 / extended mix ), LIKE A YOYO , MY CHICO or YEAH YEAH ( version 2 ). In Italy, Spain, France and other countries she´s a big superstar, pop icon and sex symbol since she managed to turn her initial claim to fame into a career that lasted a few decades. Besides her music career she appeared in movies and tv.

Now there is not much about Samantha Fox in this post either and one reason for that is that the post is still too long even after I cut the part about Brigitte Nielsen ( which you can still find in the original post ).

I might have gone a bit overboard with all the videos and animated Gifs I added to this post but what is life if you can´t indulge yourself a bit now and then. The other reason there is not much about Samantha Fox in this post is that I think Sam never realized her potential like Sabrina did.

I always had the impression that she could do more but didn´t want to do it. I remember that some years ago, well, more than a few years because this is about a video cassette, I found a video of Samantha Fox which was kind of a MAKING OF one of her calendars. I expected to see some skin, not like hardcore but at least as much as you could see in the pics for the calendar but the video was more like something out of Sesame Street and every time there was some exposed skin Sam was frantically obsessed with covering up again as quickly as possible. Now maybe she was tired of always showing her body and being objectified but then she should have either not do the calendar in the first place or not try to sell a video that is tamer than an episode of the Muppet Babies. Just my 5 cents worth.

Although now that Samantha has come out as a supposed lesbian I might finally do a solo post on her. I am not sure if I really believe that she is a lesbian and not just bi - sexual but it would explain why Samantha never found the right man and why she picked over endowed studs that could come six or seven times in one night as boyfriends. She obviously had problems reaching an orgasm with a guy and in the end she wore them out. But like I said, that might be the topic of a Samantha Fox post.

The post was not really comic related but at least I got a better picture of Milo Manara´s cover for the italian version of PENTHOUSE magazine.

And I still hadn´t any luck finding art from Manara´s Sabrina comic.

One final thought about the music industry, not that much has changed and there still are some hot singers out there who could easily cause the sales figures of any men´s magazine to skyrocket with their physique.

That´s all, many happy returns Sabrina and thanks for the mammaries.  Our first Sabrina video is a 1988 interview with a very young Johnathan Ross.

Here we have her performance of Boys, Boys, Boys on TVE A Tope that shows everything her live appearances were famous for : her mini skirt is constantly riding up and her boobs are bouncing up and down like crazy.

Speaking of Sabrina´s patented bouncing action there´s plenty of that in her appearance on german tv show Die Schaubude. I had a video of this performance that was the right frame ratio but here the quality is better even if the lower parts of Sabrina´s breasticals are cut off in some shots.

Last but not least I don´t know if this is from an actual concert or just a mix of various live gigs and who cares ? It´s more than one hour of Sabrina Salerno shaking what her Mama gave her in full HD, that´s all that matters.

We start our extra short and sweet addendum with german Busenwunder Camilla Renschke who turns 37 and is of course best known for trying on different bras that can hardly contain her huge puppies in Schlaraffenland and getting naked in Die Rosenzüchterin and Tatort - Tod eines Mädchens.

In Schlaraffenland a bunch of teenies want to get locked in a shopping mall to party when everyone is gone. Camilla plays Mary, who is the Power Girl of the group of juvenile delinquents meaning she has to distract the guards with her huge underage pornstar boobies so the boys can steal his keys. There is one pervert security guard that the boys know always goes to the two way mirrors of the changing booths to peep at the women.

So Camilla distracts him by trying to cram her huge melons into various bras while he masturbates. Mother Nature really meant it well when she was giving out boobies. Camilla must have come back for a second and a third helping. I don´t know if the bra really fits but it wouldn´t surprise me if she picked one that´s a bit too small as she needs to get the security guard hard. Camilla´s german bustsize is 85D and I don´t know how much that is in inches but those are some huge puppies, girl.

Man, I´d love to strip search this little munchkin for a few hours. And don´t worry, she plays a teenager but she was already 19 when she did the movie. So you don´t have to feel guilty for getting a rockhard erection.

No stranger to getting that kind of reaction is Eva Longoria best known as one of the Desperate Housewives who celebrates her 42nd birthday.

Daimn, I still have not watched the final two seasons of Desperate Housewives but Eva doesn´t look her age. Must be the latin genes.

Also turning 42 is Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am and since Today is all about hot pop sexbombs I have to mention that the group only hit the big times when they added rumpshaking frontwoman Fergie to the mix.

Will.i.am also played John Wraith in X - Men Origins : Wolverine which was not as distracting as I feared. Speaking about Wolverine so far I have managed to avoid anything concerning the Logan movie and I hope that if it is really based on the Old Man Logan mini series they change as much as they can because that was one of the worst stories I have read in my entire life. Nothing in that story makes any sense, like the farm where Logan lives. What exactly does Logan grow on that farm ? Dust ? Anyway, back to Will.i.am I wanted to add a video from The Voice UK since he´s one of the judges but a video with Fergie in a bikini trumps anything.

It can´t be a coincidence that bikini model Shannon Sky has the same initial like Sabrina Salerno and the same birthday although she is only 44 years old. I haven´t gotten around to do my Avengers movie casting post yet but I had always envisioned the 34E - 24 - 33 bombshell as a shoo - in for the Valkyrie. She was so hot that Thor showed her his real hammer.

Speaking of bikini babes, among the many things Fabio - who celebrates his 58th birthday - has appeared in besides Death Becomes Her, Dude Where´s My Car ?, Zoolander and Striperella is Acapulco H.E.A.T. and the cover for that super secret government enforcement team - at least for the females - is that they are bikini models. Writing tv can be so easy.

Making movies on the other hand is much more difficult so I want to pay homage to Renny Harlin - who also turns 58 - who I have to thank for many entertaining hours in front of the big and small screen with movies like Deep Blue Sea, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Cliffhanger, The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane and A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 : The Dream Master.

The last one was one of the better Nightmare On Elm Street sequels and you can find reviews of the movie at iBLOGALOT and KRUEGERNATION .

Usually I don´t like to include two similar videos in one post but I couldn´t pass up this horror double feature as David Cronenberg celebrates his 74th birthday. His resume reads like a list of my favorite movies with entries like The Dead Zone, The Fly or Dead Ringers and one of his movies is on a lot of lists about movies where the general populace is blissfully unaware that they are actually based on comic books : A History Of Violence.

As promised - or better hinted at - last week here are the homage cover for THE MIGHTY THOR 126, which was the first issue of Thor´s solo title.

Like with all Marvel books at that time cunning Stan Lee just continued the numbering from the title where Thor had appeared in previously which was JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY. So for any comic newbies out there if you are looking for THOR 125 - there is no THOR 125. It starts with Nr. 126.

Now as you might have noticed, the MORTADELO & FILEMON post has not gone up like I promised but not because I have become lazy. After five posts in three days ( okay, you might say two of those were written in advance but then you still have a one post per day ratio which is higher than my usual posting rate which is one post every two days ) you might think I took a well deserved time out. But no, I spent the time doing an totally unscheduled post about wrestling swimsuit sexbomb Tylene Buck.

I had skipped her when her actual birthday was up and since I didn´t do a post that day I didn´t even mention on the blog that she was a candidate in my CASTING THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MOVIE series ( I cast her as Ice ). Well, as fate would have it I came across a few videos of her from her wrestling days on YouTube which in itself was nothing extraordinary but those videos had a higher quality than the usual clips you find from that period. So I spent quite some time - that I should have used to make the MORTADELO & FILEMON post - making new animated GIFs and after I went so far as to forgo sleep to finish them I decided I could as well go one step further and make the new post so I could use all the GIFs. By the way, I´m still looking for clips from the period when Tylene Buck was one of the NWO busty babes and running around in a sexy secretary outfit.

Anyway, as usual the whole thing started with new Tylene Buck videos and one of them was from the IRONMAN Swimsuit Spectacular and I added that to the old post - which meant changing the text. Ah, the things I do for my readers. Well, after finishing the new Tylene Buck post I noticed two things. First, the swimsuit video I had included has already been deleted.

So unless somebody else ca upload it again I have to change the text one more time. And secondly, there is very little comic related stuff in the post so I might go back one more time and since the post is so long this might become more than two new posts. See ? I told you that if there was some new stuff that occurred to me in regards to that casting call I would continue the series so don´t be surprised if you see some CASTING THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MOVIE - RELOADED posts in the future.

And speaking of the future since I´m doing the DEJA VUE THORSDAY post Today which will most likely be followed by a FLASH FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN post I have decided to bump the MORTADELO & FILEMON post back to Saturday. But don´t fear ! As longtime readers of this blog know here nothing gets scrapped only shelved for very long periods of time. Sigh !

Okay, back to THOR 126 the first ones to pay homage to that famous cover were of course the artists of THOR themselves and there some covers where I myself did not make the connection right away. Here they are.

Then there were the covers from other books that payed homage as well as other companies which sometimes featured Thor or Hercules on it.

And then there are all the other homage covers for THOR issue 126..

Today´s entertainment block starts with Jhené Aiko who celebrates her 29th birthday. I first heard her on CONAN which is one of the reasons I like to watch late night talk shows and award shows : not always the best music acts make it to Germany and I don´t think she´s well known here.

I already pimped her in a previous post but this section is always a chance to catch up with things that I forget about or for some reason don´t pursue further. When I last wrote about Jhené her album Sail Out had just come out but is seems she already released the follow up album Souled Out ( am I detecting a name trend here ? ) which includes The Pressure.

Alexandra Daddario turns 31 and I have to say that I don´t know much about her. What I can say is that she always pops up when I am looking for GIFs of other babes which might´ve something to do with her 34D chest.

I always thought she was one of the vampire chicks, you know from all these vampire shows that girls love like My Bleeding Vampire Diary, My Secret Teenage Vampire Love, Vampire High School Teens or Vampire High School Host Club or howere they are called but after reading her imdb entry I must be mixing her up with some other girl. I still haven´t watched True Detective ( maybe I get the chance to do that when my Mom returns to Spain and the tv is once again free to the general public ) so I can´t say if Mr. Skin was right in voting her nude scene the best of the year 2014.

The creator of Spawn, Todd McFarlane celebrates his 56th birthday and here´s a little reminder why he became so popular. You can say what you want about his style but you can´t argue that he put a lot of work in his pages. Well, back when he was doing regular interior pages. I remember that I was very hyped whenever a new issue of The Incredible Hulk came out - which is where I first saw his art - and after word had gotten out I went over the pages again and again trying to find Felix, the cat. I don´t know what he´s doing right now ( the last I read about him was that he had differences with Erik Larsen when they collaborated on Spawn ).

On the other hand I know exactly what Victor Garber is doing who turns 68. After appearing on The Flash he is currently hanging out with DC´s Legends Of Tomorrow and I just saw the latest episode Moonshot in which he did a surprise vocal performance. I first saw Victor in Alias or how me and my brother called it during the last seasons The Jack Bristow Show because everything his character did on the show was much more interesting than follow Jennifer Garner on her missions ( although she did have a few very nice outfits in some of the episodes ). Well done, Victor.

Pop culture icon Erik Estrada also celebrates his 68th birthday whom I know mostly from the Andy Sidaris movies since I never watched an episode of CHIPs. By the way, looking for pictures of that series is a nightmare because all the pictures you find are either potato chips, bags of potato chips or people eating potato chips. Now I want to eat chips.

I half expected to find Jerry Lewis in the Dearly Departed section but he´s alive and well and just turned 91. Jerry is proof that there is some truth to the old saying that a prophet has no honor in his own country as americans were never as fond of him as germans but especially the french.

Jerry Lewis also was in a comic related movie Artists And Models where he roomed with Dean Martin who was a struggling comic book artist who used Jerry´s vivid dreams about the hero Vincent The Vulture and the secret formula X34 minus 5R1plus 6 - X36 as the basis of a new comic.

Unbeknownst to them the live in the same apartment as Dorothy Malone, the creator of the Bat Lady comic - of which Jerry is a huge fan - and Shirley MacLaine who is Dorothy´s secretary and model for the Bat Lady.

So we get to see her dress up in super hero fashion and there are even some mock pages from the comic in the movie which you can see on KLEEFELD ON COMICS . Of course the secret formula is real but only half of the formula and some spies are after it, Dorothy got fired and her comic was replaced by Vincent The Vulture and is on a crusade against comics, Jerry begins to like Shirley MacLaine not knowing she is the Bat Lady and all kind of hijinks ensue ( you can read more about the movie on DIAL B FOR BLOG ). I think I already posted a clip from the movie so here is a dance scene from The Ladies Man. There is a video with the complete scene on YouTube but the embedding has been disabled by request.

Of course Jerry Lewis has not only been in comic related movies and shows like The Simpsons he had his own comic and there was even a storyline in which he met various members of the Justice League .

We are staying with great comedic talents although we finally get to the Dearly Departed part with german pop culture icon Elisabeth Volkmann best known for Klimbim where she starred alongside blonde sexbomb Ingrid Steeger who celebrates her birthday on the first of next month.

While Ingrid always played the nymphomanic sexbomb next door - or at least her slutty sister - with the killer body but not much brains Elisabeth was the smart but totally kooky ( is there really no better translation for überkandidelt ? ) aristocrat with the playmate - worthy measurements.

Since full episodes of Klimbim in good quality are hard to come by I am posting this right away and my tip is not to wait too long to watch it.

I also want to mention Kate Worley, best know as the writer of Omaha The Cat Dancer, a comic I never managed to get into. Which is a shame because I have heard that it is well written and not half as pornographic as I hoped. I have some scattered issues that I found at conventions and dollar bins and when Alpha Verlag started printing the series here in Germany I thought this would be the right time to jump on board but they only published one album. Now when I did my research I found plenty of covers that were censored which I found hilarious because there are plenty of covers from that series that you can post without any worries

For those who have never heard of the comic here is an animated version and with that I mean one that is not animated like a cartoon but where you can actually read along - which some people might find too slow.

Speaking about female creatures who are right at home at the stripper pole : since there has been much demand and clamoring for the albanian sexbomb with the big double dees since I posted her first video I have decided to include another with the best news reader on planet earth.

As you can see I have taken the liberty of making some animated GIFs of Enki Bracaj since I could not find any of good quality on the net and although it took me a whole day ( and therefore might relay the FLASH FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN post and especially the next MORTADELO & FILEMON post ) I think it was totally worth it. In any case, if you find any GIFs of Enki in good quality please let me know in the comments below.

What I find a bit ridiculous is the whole brouhaha the press makes since she she´s not the first female news reader who gets noticed because of her big rack and she´s not going to be the last. She only consequently used her overdeveloped attributes to further her career in a logical way.

So for the moment my newest favorite person named Enki is the albanian news blow up sex doll with the gigantic gazongas, Enki Bracaj and comic creator Enki Bilal is relegated to second place. Now if only we could get the Jessica Rabbit of german news tv Tatjana " Busenwunder " Ohm to read the news like that it would be more epic. Can you imagine that ?

Switch Reloaded is not on air anymore but I bet not even they would be bold enough - or willing to show that much skin - to spoof Enki Bracaj.

Pull up a chair and gather around because it´s once again to delve into the magic that was Mark Waid´s and George Perez´ THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD.

Which is probably a surprise ( although I hope a pleasant one ) for my longtime readers who expected to find another installment of FLASH FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN in this space. For which I have a very good excuse.

I didn´t do my homework.

Okay, I know this didn´t work in school and it doesn´t work now but let me explain. You see, the next issue for FLASH FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN is FLASH 135 and it is one of the first I did not prepare in advance. Which would not be such a big problem IF it was a stand alone issue. Because IF I had prepared this issue in advance I would have known that it is part 3 of a crossover with GREEN LANTERN and GREEN ARROW. So because I don´t want to throw my readers into the lion´s den at the tail end of a three part story I had to get all of the parts. Which wasn´t the big problem, no. Because in order to do the story chronologically we have to start with part 1 which is the GREEN LANTERN issue and I could not possibly do a FLASH FRIDAY post with GREEN LANTERN. So I will be putting all the parts on the blog chronologically, GREEN LANTERN on Monday followed by GREEN ARROW on Wednesday and then finally FLASH on Friday. I don´t want to turn this blog into a DC only blog so I hope I can posts in - between.

So this still left me with a hole in my posting schedule and since I wanted to put up a DC post Today I thought why not continue with this series since the last time I did a post was back in January ? You might even want to go back and read issue 1 and issue 2 before you continue with Today´s issue that introduces a new dream team to the DC continuity : Supergirl and Lobo. Okay, on the other hand maybe not but now that I think about it I would like to see Lobo pop up in the Supergirl tv series just for fun.

With that said we come to Today´s celebrity birthdays and I want to start by saying I really envy rapper Ice - T. Not only is he an award winning musician, iconic rapper and accomplished actor he also managed to get married to a real life blow up sex doll, Nicole " Coco " Austin. Who is the personified wet dream of every black man ( and every white man who admits it ) : a white sexual freak built like a sister with an ass that just won´t quit. Since she looks like the original Bart Sears Power Girl come to live with her 39DD - 23 - 45 measurements I cast her in that role in the first part of the Subzero edition of my Casting the Justice League of America movie post series .

Pilar Rubio 39 was on ¡ Mira quién baila ! the spanish version of Dancing With The Stars and Operación triunfo the spanish version of Star Search but I know her from Sé lo que hicisteis la última semana ( I know what you did last week ) which is not based on a pre - existing tv show

Brittany Daniel 41 whom you may know from Joe Dirt, Joe Dirt 2, It´s Always Sunny In California, Club Dread, Just Shoot Me !, That 70´s Show, That 80´s Show or Dawson´s Creek although for me she will always be Jessica Wakefield from Sweet Valley High where her real twin sister Cynthia Daniels - whom you might know from her role in The Basketball Diaries with Leonardo DiCaprio - played Elizabeth Wakefield

Rob Lowe 53 started in movies like St. Elmo´s Fire and About Last Night where he schtupped Demi Moore

the last series I heard of was The Grinder but he is currently on Code Black and

Captain Marvel on Young Justice

Peter Illmann 58

Like promised - or threatened depending on if you like these posts or not - here is a selection of all the different interpretations of the poster from John Carpenter´s classic horror / sci fi movie THE THING with Kurt Russell.

I hoped to do this earlier but the fun block of my last post evolved into a real marathon writing session so I only finished with it Yesterday. Then the devastating news of Bernie Wrightson´s death hit. I thought about doing a special post for that but it´s still too early and I really don´t know what to say to that. Since Bernie worked mostly on DC titles I didn´t want to put it up directly after THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD 4 and frankly speaking with four DC posts already lined up - GREEN LANTERN issue 96, GREEN ARROW issue 130 and then FLASH issue 135 I don not know if I can keep to my schedule. Dong one post every day is grueling and I still have to catch up on two days of sleep as it is. Even I´m only human. In any case, I´ll try to finish this post quickly so maybe I can do the GREEN LANTERN post Today.

As for the different versions of John Carpenter´s THE THING, I found a lot of them on DevianArt and you can see who made them from the name. Unless they didn´t give the picture a specific name in which case I´m sorry. I can´t include all the links for all the pictures - especially since I´m not sure where I found some of them - but if one of your pictures is included here and you want me to put up a link for you e - mail me or contact me via the comments. I have tried to make the selection as diverse as possible so if your picture is not in here it doesn´t mean it´s not good enough but rather that somebody else did a similar version.

Well, doing the birthday section has taken longer than expected so I won´t bother with going through my bookmarks a third time to look for any links that might fit Today´s topic ( and I doubt that I would find any if I did ) so let´s get right to the part you all are really waiting for : the bonus round with lots of comic stuff, pop culture trivia and a plethora of busty babes. And we start with a comic related birthday although the real year of birth of David Hine, one of the deranged masterminds behind The Bulletproof Coffin and The Bulletproof Coffin : Disinterred is unknown.

Maybe he IS really just a figment of our collective imagination and there is on real David Hine. Be that as it may what IS most definitely real are the Bulletproof Coffin comic books which longtime readers of this blog may remember me pimping as the best comic you are not reading and also the best new version of WATCHMEN without trying to be the new version of WATCHMEN. High praise indeed but I am not kidding you it´s all deserved.

I discovered this comic thanks to Terry Hooper´s fantastic blog COMIC BITS ONLINE ( which you all should follow religiously as long as it lasts ) and if I should describe it to somebody in a short sentence I would probably say it is Alan Moore and Grant Morrison going on a peyote induced trip after drinking too much tequila drawn by Jack Kirby meets Geoff Darrow with every pop culture thing you love thrown in from dinosaurs to zombies.

I know that a lot of people are put off by the art reminiscent of old pulp comics but let me tell you it does not only grow on you from issue to issue but while you read you suddenly understand why it couldn´t possibly be drawn in any other art style. This comic has my highest recommendation and if you don´t enjoy the heck out of this comic you are probably not a genuine pop culture geek and only picked up a comic because it´s trendy.

And it´s okay if you don´t believe me, but before you say " Hogwash ! " and turn your attention to other things maybe you would rather put your trust in Nevs Coleman on FILTHY ORPHAN or P. M. Buchan at STARBURST who has everything you need to know about The Bulletproof Coffin new and old in one place. JOSHUA MALBIN has a short review of the first issue of The Bullteproof Coffin with some preview pages and if you are not afraid of spoilers got to David Brothers post on COMICS ALLIANCE for the complete first issue plus some preview pages from issue 5 ( he also has a post on the special cut - up technique used in The Bulletproof Coffin : Disinterred issue 5 ) or you can read COMICS RECOMMENDED´s spoiler filled review of the first series and THE OUTHOUSERS has some preview pages from the first issue of The Bulletproof Coffin : Disinterred book.

Now the first celebrity birthday where I know the year of birth is Christy Carlson Romano who turns 33 and if that name does not sound familiar her voice probably would since she voiced Kim Possible. For some reason my brother gave me season one and season two as a Christmas present but halfway through the first season I got distracted with something else and at the moment I´m just too lazy to go through all the episodes again to find out which ones I have seen and which ones I have not. And there´s so much other stuff on my to watch list that it´s not even funny. I´m also torn in which language I should watch it since usually I just stick with the original but it doesn´t have such funny creations like Bittedankeschön !

And speaking about different languages, since everybody is familiar with the original Kim Possible theme song by Christina Milian - and I´m saving that one up for her birthday post - here is the french version by Priscilla.

Maybe it´s just me but I think Disney forfeit a great opportunity to make money when they squandered the possibility to make a real live action Kim Possible movie with Lindsay Lohan when she was at her prime.

Speaking about women who kick butt, Freema Agyeman celebrates her 38th birthday who played Martha Jones on Doctor Who, just the best companion ever and not only because she was absolutely hot. She was seriously underused and had a difficult time with fans because she came right on the heels of Rose. I don´t know if I found the GIF below at THE WHONIVERSE tumblr but you can sure find more Martha Jones GIFs there.

And if you need further proof that Martha Jones was on the mind of all male Whovians : she was the first companion to be featured in episode one of the Doctor Who porn version. You know that you have arrived in entertainment mainstream when they make a porn version about you.

Now since I wanted to post a Doctor Who video with Freema Agyeman I thought I had to look for one but then I remembered that Brianna from FandomReactions is currently binge watching the series before the new season starts and her latest reaction video is Martha Jones´ first episode.

I have to admit I have become addicted to reaction videos especially with the CW series. Since I can´t watch those with anybody in my family it´s my way to re - watch the episodes and see other people´s reaction. Which is especially interesting with something where you have already seen all the episodes and you know what is coming like with Doctor Who. Anyway, I don´t think I have mentioned the girls from FandomReactions before and I have them to thank for the Justice League fan film I posted because I´m not always up to date on anything involving social media.

Janine Kunze turns 43 who is best known as Carmen Krause from Tom Gerhardt´s brilliant comedy series Hausmeister Krause - Ordnung muß sein. The blonde knockout showed her curves in Knocking On Heaven´s Door and a guest appearance on Die Rote Meile and if you happen to own a copy of the September issue of the german edition of the PLAYBOY of 2002 you might want to keep it safe since she won´t do another nude photoshoot. Not so much for her hubby but more because her daughter is slowly getting to the age where the male classmates get interested in sex and having them drool over nude pictures of her Mom would probably lead down to some therapy sessions down the line. Although I´m not sure how effective that is going to be since you can find anything on the internet.

Janine is a frequent guest on various shows but I picked a video from Extreme Activity because it has the highest babe ratio. As you might have guessed from the preview picture german Busenwunder Verone Pooth is the real eye catcher which explains why she was on the show so many times. So far I have not gotten around to make a post on Verona but maybe I can do it this year. The only problem is that I still haven´t found the video with her wardrobe malfunction on Stefan Raab´s Tv Total.

I had three videos with Verona Pooth and Janine Kunze on Extreme Activity but I´m saving the other for the third person´s next birthday.

Now our next candidate put me in a dilemma because Bernhard Hoecker, who celebrates his 47th birthday, is a frequent guest on Genial Daneben - as are Janine Kunze and Verona Pooth. So far I haven´t found a video with all three of them - which would have made things easier considerably - and since I don´t want to have two videos with Verona Pooth in a row unless it is her solo post here is a clip from Switch Reloaded ! to diversify things.

Naturally I could not choose anything else than their version of Tatjana Ohm, the Jessica Rabbit of news tv very ably played by Martina Hill.

Of course since then life has not only imitated art ( which in turn imitated life ) but turned it upside down completely with mega busty albanian sexbomb Enki Barcaj, the breast braless news reader in the whole world.

By the way, while I am trying to put all videos of Enki Bracaj on the blog as quickly as possible I am not going to make a new GIF for every new video. Making them is very time consuming so unless somebody else out there wants to jump into the breach ( I swear, so far I have found no GIFs of Enki ) I´m just going to re - use the same one over and over again.

We are slowly coming to the end of this post as controversial film director Spike Lee turns 60 who is known for making social issues the focal point of his movies and giving Rosie Perez her breakthrough in Do The Right Thing.

Before doing the right thing latin sexbomb Rosie was doing the dance thing on the show Soul Train which is where Spike Lee discovered her.

From Oscar winning director Spike Lee we come to Oscar winning actor who celebrates his 67th anniversary. I can´t list his complete list of films but he has been in comic book movie adaptions like A History Of Violence and the Hulk movies where he was General Thaddeus " Thunderball " Ross.

Now the question on everyone´s mind is if William Hurt will become the Red Hulk in the next Avengers movie since the Ross in the comics went down that road. I´m not so sure about that happening since Disney has made Ross the Secretary Of State in the last movie which is something that has not happened in the comics. I sure would hope they would finally give an actor of William Hurt´s pedigree more to do in the movie universe.

There have been no posts the last few days because I seriously needed to take a break from blogging to get some sleep and I also had to clean up the laptop because I had too much stuff on it. And while I´m not finished with that I thought I could let my readers reap the fruits of all my hard work.

Because I spent the entire day Yesterday getting all the cult siren clips I needed for the posts and the episodes of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends Of Tomorrow and all the other stuff that´s clogging the laptop on DVDs. And while the laptop is burning the files I like to do something else which was getting rid of all the doubles in my folder with all the material from the old Williams Verlag Marvel comics. The funny thing is that while I was going through the files I was hit by the realization how epic Marvel comics used to be. So I wanted to put some of them on the blog which should provide my german readers with some flashbacks from their childhood while my readers from outside of Germany might enjoy this peek at how Marvel comics were presented in another country. I have tried not too put too many pages of the same kind into the post so that is well balanced and if readers like it maybe it can turn into a regular thing.

By the way, I was so busy the last few days that I didn´t even notice that I broke the 2,000,000 hits mark. Yay, me ! And of course all the visitors who have helped make that happen. I will try not to let you down and it looks like you are enjoying this content so I must be doing something right.

We are keeping it german as Today´s first celebrity birthday is Hugo Egon Balder who turns 67. He is of course best known as the presenter of Tutti Frutti and I just love wikipedia because I have never heard it be described anywhere else as a soft - porn tits - out show but I guess it kind of was.

Now usually I would go into a tangent to explain the show to my foreign readers with lots of animated GIFs of dancing bare chested sex bombs and whatnots but since I made a separate post for Monique Sluyter and the Tutti Frutti Girls I can just put that link on the blog and you can click it.

Hugo also had a music career although he´s known to Today´s audiences as the receiver of ten tv and entertainment awards and a producer and host on various successful tv shows which means you get your video from Genial Daneben with Bernhard Hoecker and sexy Verona Pooth after all.

Since I posted a video of Hubert Kah last year I want to switch it up this year with Roger Whittaker who celebrates his 81st birthday. Although he was born in Kenya and lived in Britain for great parts of his life I always thought of him as german but the truth is that when he recorded his first songs in german he had to sing them phonetically because he didn´t speak the language. By the time I became aware of him he had of course learned to speak german quite well and he had a big following. He released 25 albums in Germany and is also known for his trademark whistling ability.

William Shatner turns 86 and since I don´t want to repeat myself too much in this section he only gets a short mention but you can check out last year´s post for a TekWar video and I specifically chose the picture below.

Because that´s my not so subtle segueway to artist Mort Drucker who celebrates his 88th birthday. He has contributed to the world famous MAD magazine for over five decades and some sources list him as being born on the 29th of March so don´t be mad if that´s the date you have listed.

Mort Drucker is of course famous for his movie parodies and when I was in school my allowance was so low that it was almost non existent so I did not have the money to watch all the latest movies. The only thing I could afford was MAD so instead of seeing the movie I read the spoofs and had to imagine the plot of the movie by the jokes they made about it. And even now I sometimes get the movie scenes mixed up with what I read.

The picture above is one example since I´m pretty sure that dialogue was not in the movie ( although the cleavage was ). If you want to check out some of Mort Drucker´s work THE BRONZE AGE OF BLOGS has three posts on Mort Drucker, The Milking Of The Planet That Went Ape , The Six Million Dollars, Man & Neuronic Woman and Mad Revisionist Westerns .

As a video I chose this animated version of Mort Drucker´s The Oddfather even though the quality of the picture and sound is really beyond abysmal.

We start the Dearly Depated section of the post with Steve Dillon who passed away rather recently. He is of course best known for his work on Punisher and Preacher ( hmm, both start with p ) of which the last one has just been finally adapted as a tv series - which I still haven´t seen.

Steve started his career with the title story of Hulk Weekly for Marvel UK and later worked on the Nick Fury strip before becaming one of the artists on british cult comic magazines Warrior and 2000 AD. What is really weird is that I´m about to read something from Steve Dillon from those days as Today my latest comic order from the guys at Comic Express arrived which includes all issues of Eclipse Comics Axel Pressbutton series that reprints some classic UK comic material by the likes of Brian Bolland or Alan Davis.

In fact I found out about this comic while looking for issues of Alan Davis to add to my order ( I also got rare Gene Colan issues of DC´s Silverblade and Eclipse Comics Ragamuffins) and after doing a bit of online research I ordered all the issues. At first I was afraid the inside would be in black and white but it´s full color. If - like me - you have no idea what the heck Axel Pressbutton is there is a post on LOOKIT ME I THINK PEOPLE CARE ABOUT MY OPINIONS and you can find the Zirk short story by Brian Bolland that is mentioned there on COMICS A - GO - GO ! ( god, Brian Bolland draws some beautiful females ). Also check out SAVAGE TALES for the story Cold War, Cold Warrior by Alan Moore and Gary Leach and the FORBIDDENPLANET blog has some Steve Dillon pages from Laser Eraser And Pressbutton.

Like most british artists Steve Dillon had worked on the Doctor Who comics which brings us to Mary Tamm, the first actress to play the part of Romana on the tv show. She only accepted the role of companion when the producers told her that she would also be a timelord and the Doctor´s equal and she left the show when the writers returned Romana to the old stereotypes. She was much sexier than Lalla Ward who came in after her.

Originally I wanted to post a trailer from the Doctor Who series with Mary Tamm but then I found this little nugget. Since she left during Tom Baker´s tenure she never got to interact with Sylvester McCoy on the show but after she left and before Sylvester landed the role of gallifreyan time traveller both appeared in the 80s action movie Three Kinds Of Heat.

If you are anything like me you want to see more so here is the full movie with Robert Ginty, Victoria Barrett and Shakti Chen for your enjoyment.

Another shoutout goes to Karl Malden whom I always watched in The Streets Of San Francisco and although I have no video for him - at least this year - here is Mort Drucker´s rendition of him from the movie Patton.

There is also no video for Bud Sagendorf, the artist I always associate with Popeye ( and who for some reason was NOT the main artist on the FAZ´s edition of classic comics ) because - again - I had a Popeye video in last year´s post and there already is a cartoon video in this post. Still I wanted to mention him so I could post this wonderful strip I found since last year.

Since I didn´t prepare this post I was caught a bit by surprise that Today is Bernard Krigstein´s anniversary or otherwise I would have done a post on him. As it is I´m posting the only work of him I have - the complete story The Bath from Tales From The Crypt issue 42 - and while Bernie is best known as EC Comic artist he also had done work in early issues of MAD.

Our last anniversary is Chico Marx which fits right in with the tone of this section as I can imagine him feeling right at home playing the piano with all the hot Tutti Frutti girls around him and I´m sure the kind of anarchistic humor the Marx Brothers displayed in their movies had as much influence on the makers of the EC comics, 2000 AD or MAD as they had on me. Even at a very young age I got that there was something special and at the same time inappropriate about their jokes and I watched their movies at any chance I got. Here is one of my favorite scenes ( which is sadly not the complete scene ) where they show the basics of the sales pitch.

Once again I´m taking a short break from cleaning up the laptop to finally start the three part crossover Three Of A Kind that was going through GREEN LANTERN and GREEN ARROW and culminated in FLASH issue 135.

I don´t think I can do four posts in one day so we will probably have to skip the FLASH FRIDAY post for this week but since I finally did manage to do the obligatory Marvel post before a DC post I wanted to put it up on the blog just in case. And to have some new content. I don´t know what my next post will be but don´t be too surprised if the next DC post is not the next part of this story but rather a remembrance post in honor of the great. late Bernie Wrightson as he did the bulk of his work on DC titles.

Coming back to the story at hand it was a team up between the three new versions of The Flash, Green Lantern and Green Arrow who had all taken up the hero mantle of their predecessors after their death - well temporary death as it later turned out - and in one case after the original had gone rogue. I´m talking about Green Lantern Hal Jordan here who had gone over to the dark side as Parallax and butchered the entire Green Lantern Corps. Well, he left some stranded in the vastness of outer space without ring power and some of them survived but no thanks to him. He didn´t care if they lived or died so he might as well have killed them given the chance. In any case the three heroes are taking a vacation together mainly to smooth out the problems between Wally West and Kyle Rayner with Connor Hawke as the operating conseglieri or mediator if you will.

And Wally West had any right not to like Kyle Rayner. I remember back at the time when Kyle was introduced into the DC universe he brought a lot of new readers to the title but a lot of old readers left - me included - and not only because of the disparaging and stupid way in which Hal Jordan´s entire history as a hero ( and also the complete Green Lantern Corps ) was wiped out for a cheap sales gimmick. Most of the newbie readers who were Kyle Rayner fans accused the older readers of just not being open to change and in some cases that might have been true but there was more to it. Now here somebody will probably come with the old - and absolutely incorrect - argument that you like the version of a hero you encounter first the most and since you get attached to that version it will always be the one you prefer. That kind of school of thinking has always be around and I don´t think at this point in time they can ever be taught otherwise.

How I know that this is not true ? Simple. When I started reading comics Hal Jordan was Green Lantern. There were some other Green Lanterns in the comics but Hal Jordan was always the Green Lantern of earth. But Hal Jordan is not my favorite Green Lantern. Anybody who has read this blog for a longer period of time knows that my favorite Green Lantern is Guy Gardner. Whom I didn´t read until my military service got me stationed in Munich where they had a real comic shop with a lot of american comics. And at that time the Norbert Hethke Verlag published the first issues of the Keith Giffen / J. M. DeMatteis JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA in Germany for the first time. So you might say that this was just a fluke.

But it was the same with the Flash. When I started reading comic books Barry Allen was the Flash. But my favorite Flash is Wally West. And the first time I read his adventures as the Flash was at the same time when I first met Guy Gardner. Now you might say that this is the common factor and that this is the reason why I like both versions of them better than their previous incarnations. Which might be true but then it goes against the argument that you like the first version you encounter the most since this was more than a decade after I first encountered the original heroes.

Talk about a late bloomer. And then there´s the matter of Green Arrow. Okay, I know some people will write some nasty comments about this but I never liked Connor Hawke. But not because I hated him but because I had no real interest in him as a character. I was always an Oliver Queen guy. Ever since he evolved from a´the cheap Batman knock off with a bow and arrow you might know from BATMAN - THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD carton series into the social consciousness of the Justice League he was my man and the best series he ever had was LONGBOW HUNTERS followed by the Mike Grell penned series that DC is now finally making available again for a new generation in trade. That is the best Green Arrow you will EVER read.

Okay, now that we have debunked the myth that you always like the first version you read the most you might ask where my dislike of Kyle Rayner stemmed from and the answer to that is very simple. Like the readers who defended him so vehemently he just didn´t get it. And that is one of the reasons why I could understand Wally West. Because Kyle Rayner didn´t get him and never could. He didn´t come in where Wally West came in.

He didn´t start out as a kid sidekick and had to work his way through the ranks. He did not have to work hard for years to earn the trust of the superhero community that he could take up the mantle and be as capable as his role model had been. He didn´t have to defeat his predecessor´s worst enemy in a baptism of fire during which he even surpassed him. He did not have to go through all of this to become a hero so he never could understand what being a hero really means to someone like Wally West.

And that is the second reason why I never liked Kyle Rayner. Because he didn´t get it. He did not get it what it means to be a hero and especially a Green Lantern. On most planets when you were chosen as the acting Green Lantern of your space sector your old life was over. It didn´t matter if you were a doctor or a banker or a factory worker from the moment that little green ring slipped itself on your finger Green Lantern you were. But not Kyle Rayner. Despite now being the only Green Lantern for the entire universe he still treated it like a job that you could do eight hours of the week and then do something else like he would pursue his art stuff. Where he also never quite succeeded which should be no surprise to anybody who had seen his ringslinging. The two laws of design I always believed in are Form Follows Function and Keep It Simple and it is clearly apparent that with his needlessly over elaborated ring creations Kyle spends way too much energy on looks and not enough on great ideas.

Okay, back to Kyle Rayner´s new role of hero, his defenders would say that he was thrown into it without a handbook and that he had a really rough start with his dead girlfriend stuffed into a refrigerator which started and entire feminist movement. But it´s not like he later made much efforts to find said handbook. I mean there was a storyline where he finally thought about asking some other heroes for advice how they go about their heroing stuff - but that was in issue 72 and he had become the new Green Lantern with issue 51. so for two years and a half he was only winging it ? And it was not like ALL the former members of the Green Lantern Corps were dead and he couldn´t ask them for advice. Gnort was still around, Guy Gardner was still around and even if he didn´t want to ask him for help which excuse did Kyle have for not talking with John Stewart ?

No, people may call Kyle Rayner the torchbearer and say that he kept the Green Lantern Corps alive when nobody else did but he never understood what a Green Lantern is and what he can do. The two most significant moments in that regard were in a Justice League Of America story where the new Lord of Dreams had to explain to him that that ring he has on his finger is basically a wish ring from the fairy tales and in GREEN LANTERN REBIRTH when his ring suddenly spoke and Kyle Rayner said : " I never knew you could speak. " to which the ring simply replied : " You never asked. " Which is something every reader of the old GREEN LANTERN comics knew. Yep, the ring is like an Encyclopedia Intergalactica which can tell you anything you wish to know provided you ask the right question.

Rest my case. Anyway, here is the first part of the crossover and over the years Wally West has learned to work with Kyle in the JLA and they even gained some kind of friendship although I doubt Kyle will ever understand what a pauper he is compared to someone of Wally West´s Airwolf - ness.

Teresa Ganzel 60

After I found the picture above I had to find out who the hot blonde was and after a bit of research I found out that her name is Teresa Ganzel and that she co starred with Richard Pryor in the movie The Toy from 1982.

Bursting with bosomness and a sly, kittenish sense of humor she often played ditzy, busty blonde bimbos and became famous as a recurring cast member of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, having replaced the late Carol Wayne as the Matinee Lady in the popular Tea Time Movie skits. You might remember that I mentioned Carol Wayne in Mike Zeck´s birthday post and if you missed that you absolutely HAVE to google Carol Wayne.

The blonde bombshell with the mega inflated body of a living blow up sex doll predestined for the adult industry ( her exact body measures are not known but it is assumed that they were around 39DD - 24 - 35 ) made dreams come true when she did a nude PLAYBOY pictorial in February 1984.

With a curvaceous body that must have been the envy of most porn stars of that time she had many fans who followed her guest appearances on such television shows like I Spy, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. , The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. or The Fall Guy. She had roles in the movies Gunn, The Party and Heartbreakers in which she had a nude scene. Carol appeared in many sketches on The Red Skelton Show but she gained her greatest fame for her 100 plus appearances as the Matinee Lady between 1971 and 1984. In Love American Style she played a secretary that constantly distracts her boss with her big gazongas . She would´ve made one hell of a Power Girl !

So both Carol Wayne and Teresa Ganzel got famous through appearances on Johnny Carson and I did find a clip

Happy birthday mi paisano Pasqual Ferry !

After some much needed sleep - and some more cleaning up on the laptop - I can finally do another post in honor of one of my favorite comic artists.

And it´s about damn time because I thought I had done another one just a few years ago but going through my posts I found out that I only ever did one Pasqual Ferry post and that was in 2011 on his 50th anniversary !

What made my search even more difficult was that I didn´t even put a tag on the post. I wrote it and then I made a special folder where I put all the pictures by Pasqual Ferry and it seems every year I looked in that folder and said : " Well, there is just a lot of Superman, Fantastic Four and Thor stuff in there and since I already had that in the last post I will just wait until next year. Maybe by then there will be a bit more variety in here. "

Well, I´m done with waiting. Although there will be no elaborate insights into Pasqual Ferry´s art, his trajectory through the various series and why I despised the new take on THOR - for all that you can check out the first post since I have nothing to add to it at this point - it´s time for more art. And since the situation in that folder hasn´t improved I did what every man would do - go to the internet for the hottest and coolest art pieces by Pasqual Ferry. So feast your peepers on this and chupate esto, tronco.

So these are the pictures I selected and I hope you like at least some of them. It does look though as if Pasqual is mostly doing variant covers these days and I hope we get to see him doing interiors again one of these days. Asi que feliz cumpleano, Pasqual, happy 56th birthday und alles gute zum Burzeltag, like we say in Swabia. Don´t party too hard.

Since I don´t have any links for this post in particular but as I need to decrease the bookmarked links somehow I have decided to include some that I have bookmarked ages ago and I´m putting them on the blog because if I haven´t done so until now I probably won´t in the future.

We start with a throwback to my last posts because as usual I find the links I need after I have done the post. As I don´t want to go back and re - write them again here is DEZ SKINN with an article on the Marvel UK black and white publications with lots of beautiful pages by the likes of David Lloyd, Steve Dillon or Dave Gibbons and one indispensable resource for the Williams Marvel post was the WILLIAMS MARVEL COMIC ARCHIV . I don´t know if I will ever write a post involving the Guardians Of The Galaxy again keeping in mind how Disney has treated the characters so here´s Brian Cronin´s post about The Unlikely Journey Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Rocket Racoon on COMIC BOOK RESOURCES which started with a Beatles song . Also worth of a look are FLASHBACK UNIVERSETHE MARVEL PROJECT70s CHILD which as the blog name implies is all about recollections of an era that will never be again, FANBOY WIFE the survival guide for a relationship with a fanboy, SEDUCTION OF THE INDIFFERENT is about comics, movies, travel and life in Toronto, LEYENDO TEBEOS where you can read comics - for my non spanish speaking readers - and don´t worry, even though the name is spanish a lot of the comic stories on the blog are in the original english language, THE SUPERHERO SATELLITE tackles commentary on the subjects of comic books, tv and the world of pro wrestling and SUPER TEAM FAMILY - THE LOST ISSUES presents those crossovers that didn´t but should´ve happened in a perfect universe.

I also want to include Paolo Rivera´s comic art blog THE SELF - ABSORBING MAN and I think I already posted the link for FIRESTORM FAN the website for everything about the nuclear teen hero but I want to re - up it just in case somebody missed it since he is now one of the stars on DC´s Legends Of Tomorrow. Finally I already posted various links to GIANT - SIZE MARVEL

We start the obligatory birthday roll call ( and when I say obligatory I mean totally randomly chosen by yours truly ) with Lara Flynn Boyle who turns 47. You might have seen her in movies likes Poltergeist III, The Rookie, Wayne´s World or Red Rock West and we´ll just ignore Men In Black II in which she totally failed in making the role of an evil alien nympho vamp who wants to infiltrate earth by becoming an underwear model believable.

I don´t know if it was the make up or the fact that the producers thought they had to go for a PG rating so she couldn´t show as much skin as you would expect from an aspiring underwear model but there was no sparkle and Lara looked much better on Twin Peaks - and so did HER twin peaks.

Now for all the poor souls out there who saw Men In Black II I got a little something to ease your pain : please look directly into the light. Good.

Okay, so what happened is that when you were just about to watch Men In Black II you met this guy you haven´t seen since high school and then you went to that bar and you were having drinks and he told you that funny joke about the orthodox priest, the catholic priest and the rabbi where you always forget the punchline and you simply forgot time. And then when you wanted to see the movie the next day you read a critic that said the movie was not so good and you never ended up seeing it. You will also get an irresistible urge to go to the toilet for an hour when you think about watching the movie. And to donate a small, unspecified fee to the next government charity you encounter. You´re welcome !

As a last comic trivia tidbit Lara Flynn Boyle was also in an episode of the terrible Sable tv series based on Mike Grell´s great independent comic.

Speaking about comics, I thought that I had Kelly Le Brock´s 57th birthday covered since I already mentioned a few times that she is best known for The Woman In Red - which is a remake by the way and not as good as the original version - and Weird Science which is based on the old EC comic series even if it is only in name. She also was in Hard To Kill which was from the phase where you could still watch Steven Seagal movies and I posted an animated GIF of The Sorcerer´s Apprentice. Or so I thought because I could find no trace of this on the blog. So either I had the weirdest kind of deja vu or this all happened in a parallel universe.

I also thought I had a video for this but then it turned out to be a video of Kelly Brook who also is pretty busty but apparently somebody completely different. So since I am not sure if I have written about this before I want to point out that the reason why I don´t think the movie Weird Science is based on an actual story in the comic of the same name is that in those stories people who get the perfect woman - there are several that go in that direction - never have tried to use her to score with another woman.

I mean, why go through all the trouble of creating a perfect woman in the first place when you are then trying to get it on with another woman ? If that is what you want then you have to come up with a plan to woo that woman from the start and not put so much time and effort into making a perfect woman that you are just going to ignore except in ways that help you win this other woman. Who is not the perfect woman by any means.

What I do kind of get is that the whole thing with trying to score with the other girls is initially started by the woman those two guys create because she sees where the train is heading and she has no desire to become their blow up doll. So she sets them on another path to keep them occupied ( also they probably didn´t measure up ) and because she gets hornier than an alley cat in heat she does it with the whole sports class or whatever the scene where she appears as the new coach is supposed to mean.

Anyways, I picked the cover below because the woman does look a bit like Kelly LeBrock and the two guys could be the two hapless science nerds.

As always when old EC comics are involved I did not find what I was looking for but here are some links to other horror stories. PAPPY`S GOLDEN AGE COMICS BLOGZINE delivers two stories, While The Cat´s Away from The Vault Of Horror 34 and Kaleidoscope from Incredible Science Fiction 33, THE CRYPT CAST offers Lower Berth from Tales From The Crypt 33, iO9 has quite possibly the most ridiculous story you will ever read ( at least according to Cyrlaque Lamar ) Only Skin Deep from Tales From The Crypt 38 and FRIGHT COMICS USA whips up Pearly To Dead from Tales From The Crypt 40. Finally, even if it´s not an EC comic I want to include The Corpse That Lived from Forbidden Worlds 33 from THE HORRORS OF IT ALL.

Burkhard Ihme, the man, the myth, the legend turns 63 and what hasn´t he done ? Musician, comic artist, self publishing editor he has done it all.

He has a place in german comic history as one of the founding members of not only the biannual International Comic Salon in Erlangen ( which is Germany´s most important comic convention ) but also of the ICOM , the Interest group Comic, Cartoon and Illustration which is the most important association in Germany for comic people from normal fans to professional. The ICOM is a place where all kind of comic afficionados can interact and it provides not only the ICOM Yearbook full with articles about everything important that has happened that year ( which is also done by Burkhard ) but also a handbook to facilitate the contact between members but also a guide with everything you need to know about page rates, contracts and copyright laws. Did I mention that he´s also the president of the ICOM since 1995 ? But that´s not enough. He is also a founding member of the Society for Comic Book Scholarship and for my german readers there is an article on the Society for Comic Book Scholarship website about The Unreliable Narrator which analyzes the things that happen in the gutters, the space between the panels. Since I couldn´t find a video with him here is a short report from the International Comic Salon in Erlangen in 2016.

Well, there is a video of Burkhard playing the guitar but I had to skip that so I can add a video of a music legend, the great Peret. Here is The Ballad Of The Bouncer or how the original title goes The Party Is Not For Uglies.

From a music legend we come to a silver screen legend : Yesterday we had Akira Kurosawa´s anniversary Today it´s Steve McQueen´s turn who was one of the stars of the John Sturges western The Magnificient Seven, the best known re - make of Kurosawa´s cult classic The Seven Samurai.

This movie in turn has inspired other things in pop culture like the approach Bruce Timm took to the brilliant Justice League cartoon.

While Steve McQueen is not the main hero of the movie ( that was Yul Brynner ) he very quickly becomes the center of attention because of his charismatic persona and engaging performance which earns him not only a place on Andreina Matos list of Los 7 actores más representativos del western at VIX but also two entries on Emily Kelley´s 10 Movies My Dad Introduced Me To Growing Up That I´m Still Completely Obsessed With To This Day on BUSTLE , the second one being The Great Escape from 1963.

And speaking of ensemble casts I want to finish with the Super 6 cartoon which most of the younger readers have probably never seen before.

Doing good for selfish reasons doesn´t make you good, it just makes you good at being selfish.

It´s Star Trek Sunday with Leonard Nimoy !

$

Well initially I wanted to make a post for Brian Bolland´s 66th birthday but when I went through the birthday list I saw that Today would also have been Leonard Nimoy´s 86th birthday I quickly changed my post plans.

Ever since I did the research for Jame Doohan´s anniversary I wanted to put more covers from DC´s STAR TREK comics on the blog so I couldn´t let this opportunity slip by. And let me tell you it was much easier to find covers with Spock than with Scottie. Anyway, I have also included some covers from other series and after going through the covers again I got a real hankering to read some of these comics. Maybe I can find some in the comics per pound section in the Sammlerecke the next time I make a visit. I think there are a few of these available in trade but not all of them. I do hope they are easy to find as there is not a high demand for them now.

I know that as you grow older the pop culture icons from your youth are starting to fade away and that´s just a part of life but that doesn´t make it easier. Especially when it seems like the stars from my generation are the biggest ones and they don´t make them like that anymore. I guess they DID break the mold like they used to say. Live long and prosper.

There is a long list of celebrity birthdays Today but I picked just a few where I actually have a video or at least something to write. There are a few where I thought I had something but either it was deleted from YouTube or I already posted it. Sorry, maybe I´ll get to you next year.

So Today´s rather short list starts with model, tv host and actress ( or like wikipedia says sometime actress whatever that´s supposed to mean, I think either you have been in a movie then you are an actress or you have not then you are not, they are trying to make it sound like she´s not serious but there are at least a dozen of other actors or actresses that would fall into that category and I never saw a sometime actor in their wikipedia entry ) Sarah Jean Underwood who celebrates her 33rd birthday. The former Hooters waitress was PLAYBOY´s Playmate Of The Month in July 2006 and Playmate Of The Year in 2007 and she was one of the hosts on Attack Of The Show which I only know from the internet.

I already posted all the Bustice & Power Girl clips and her naked yoga video is obviously NSFW but then I remembered this short interview.

As I have already mentioned in the post intro Brian Bolland turns 66 Today and I have already selected all the necessary material for a post. But even though Today´s post is not a superhero post it is kind of DC - centric even if it´s about Star Trek. So the next thing on the blog will be something from Marvel or another comic company or even another cult siren post.

The same goes for a comic book artist from my patria, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez who celebrates his 69th birthday. Only in his case you will probably have to wait a bit longer because with Brian Bolland I at least have a separate folder where all his stuff is. Sadly I never made one for Jose Luis so I first have to go through all my files to gather up everything I need.

Now as some may know for decades Jose Luis Garcia Lopez did the art for the DC bible which was a catalogue with drawings of how each character was supposed to look and the artists had to follow these guidelines. Ah, if only they had something like that now. Anyway, that catalogue was very coveted among artists and I read somewhere that a few of the artists only began working for DC to get one of these. These character designs were also taken as the basis for The Super Powers Team : Galactic Guardians cartoon which was a bit more mature than previous incarnations of the Super Friends. One of the episodes that went into that direction was The Fear in which Batman´s origin was told. Sadly there is not a lot of the Super Friends cartoons on YouTube but I found the most important part of the episode although it´s with the latino dubbing. Anderle, mis amigos.

Diana Ross turns 73 and like Sarah Jean Underwood she was in PLAYBOY various times but sadly not in a pictorial and much rather in the news.

Now James Caan on the other hand who celebrates his 77th birthday not only was mentioned in PLAYBOY magazine he also lived at Playboy Mansion for a while after a divorce dispute has left him homeless. Apparently his physicist thought it would be therapeutic and my question is where do you find a doctor like this ? James Cann has had a few ups and downs in his acting career - for example he turned down the role of Han Solo - but he has been in so many movies I enjoyed like El Dorado, The Godfather, Rollerball, The Killer Elite or Misery and tv series like Las Vegas and Hawaii Five - O that I wasn´t sure which one I should pick. Then I remembered that he also was in one of my favorite science fiction flicks, Alien Nation.

Now my mother is a big crime show fan so I have seen my fair amount of Criminal Minds where Mandy Patinkin played the boss of the B.A.U. in the first seasons and every time when I think about where else I have seen him I remember The Princess Bride where he played Indigo Montoya but I always forget Alien Nation. Speaking about aliens, two days ago we had Lara Flynn Boyle´s birthday and what I find totally bizarro is that she is on every The Ten Hottest Movie Aliens list while probably nobody knows whom I´m talking about when I mention Leslie Bevins. Sorry, wanna - be movie expßerts but I´ll take the hot sexbomb from Alien Nation over the cold sterile Serleena with her drowned corpse look any day of the week.

Today´s post has a big science fiction vibe to it : Leonard Nimoy was in one of the biggest science fiction tv shows in the world, James Caan was in more than one sci fi movie and even Brian Bolland and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez drew comics that delved into that genre like Camelot 3000 and Superman. So I want to end this post with a tribute to the late Barry Letts one of the producers and directors on Doctor Who for decades.

The Mark of Kane : Marvel Master Monday

Since we need a Marvel themed post before we can write the belated Brian Bolland birthday post I thought why not continue with this series ?

Yes, the Brian Bolland birthday post will be bumped back even further since I´m already late with this one but I was staying up very long because my brother told me that the working crew that was coming to repair the pipes of the heating - for months the heating has been making loud noises throughout the day and especially the night which didn´t go away even after I bled the radiator a few times - needed to come into my room. Well, that didn´t happen so after a few more hours of fruitless waiting I had to go to sleep or risk another knee operation and now I have just come back from shopping completely exhausted. I didn´t want to go into town all stinky and smelly but nobody does my shopping and otherwise there is no showering gel and if I don´t have any ice cream I won´t survive until Tomorrow. And I have a very important date at the Karlshöhe Tomorrow.

You may remember I mentioned that at my last trek to the unemployment office I found out that my entry for a special job - creation measure for disabled jobless persons has somehow been lost or forgotten and that they put me on the list again. Well, last week I got an invitation from the Karlshöhe for an interview and I have no idea what it is all about. What I think is that they probably want to find out how urgent my case is - since this course seems to be a very coveted one - so they know if they should put me in sooner or later. And maybe they want to find out if I´m faking it since my application for a certificate of disability just fell through. What I already knew from the start because according to my doctors there is nothing big wrong with me so I have only a ten percent disability and to get the certificate you need at least twenty percent and a lot of luck.

Anyway, here is the next batch of Gil Kane greatness and you may notice that I have included some favorite covers of a certain webslinging hero.

Happy belated birthday to Brian Bolland !

Since there are no other important birthdays to consider Today I can finally put the pictures I selected for the Brian Bolland tribute on the blog.

As I expected the visit to the Karlshöhe threw me back another day so that I´m now two days behind with posting but I´ll try to catch up by doing two posts Today. So there will not be as much text by yours truly in this post which might be for the best. Not all readers might enjoy my incompetent and arbitrary musings but I hope the pieces I selected speak for themselves and show why Brian Bolland is not only one of my personal all - time favorite artists but one of the great masters in the comic book medium and why it´s so sad that he doesn´t do interior work more often.

So this is my 845th post and I would have liked to write a bit more to make it even more special but the next birthday post - which will be about Marc Silvestri - is already in the wings so let´s start with the obligatory links.

The color version of the cover from Adventure Comics 475 is courtesy of DAYS OF ADVENTURE where you also can find some interior pages from that issue and there´s also a post on Adventure Comics 449 which has a wonderful Aquaman splash page by Jim Aparo and a Martian Manhunter solo story by Mike Nasser and Terry Austin. For more Jim Aparo Aquaman goodness from Adventure Comics 451 head on over to THE AQUAMAN SHRINE and speaking of Terry Austin you might want to check out Perilous Plan Of The Plant Master and Fury Of The Floronic Man by Denny O´Neil, Dick Dillan and the man from The Flash 245 - 246 on DIVERSIONS OF THE GROOVY KIND . Also for more Jim Aparo art THE DORK REVIEW has his Who´s Who pages for The Outsiders. The original black and white art for the cover of Superman Annual 12 was found on DC COMICS OF THE 1980s which also has posts on Brian´s cover for Elvira´s House of Mystery 1 , his famous Black Canary cover for Action Comics Weekly 609or his pin up for DC Heroes Annual 1982 as well as lot of other great original art posts.

You might have noticed that I didn´t include any covers from The Flash and that´s because I´m thinking about doing a FLASH FRIDAY special edition with Brian Bolland´s Flash covers. At first I was not sure if there were enough covers for a post but then I stumbled upon this post on IT`S A DAN`S WORLD that convinced me. Speaking of Brian Bolland covers, THE UNSPOKEN DECADE which takes A Look At 90s Comics has some Animal Man covers and there are more Brian Bolland covers on ABDUZEEDO .

Today we have only two birthdays I want to include and the first is Peter Hsu who turns 64. There is not much information on the web about him so I´m mostly from this gallery on COMIC ART FANS that has a lost Peter Hsu portfolio which is - naturally - NSFW but if you know his art you already knew that. I knew that the name sounded familiar and back in the 1980s there was a big black and white boom in underground comics other than the mainstream brands of Marvel or DC such as Trollords, Nexus, Grendel, Red Foxxx, Usagi Yojimbo, Samuraii, Albedo, Shuriken, Miami MIce, Adventurers, Quadrant, Gauntlet, Elf Warrior or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Well, Peter Hsu was part of that era. His stuff could be considered good girl art, he studied under Wally Wood and tried to emulate a Richard Corben like feel in his art and was influenced by Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo. He seemed to disappear from comics altogether after his stink on the Adventurers and in the 1990s only did a few covers for small press comic books. It seems Peter Hsu is doing good but doesn't paint anymore. He does small editorial cartoons here and there for a local newpaper in British Columbia Cananda but these cartoons are definitely not like his good girl art that made famous in the comic books. He concentrates on his other profession of photography and 3D computer animation mostly now.

The second one is the late Walter Neugebauer one of the founders of comics in Croatia which might be enough of an accomplishment but knowing me you probably suspect that´s not all he did. He earned his entry here because in 1954 Walter met german publisher Rolf Kauka and became the artist on Fix und Foxi which he made into the most popular comic in Germany. In 1972 he formed a new studio focusing on advertising art and he created the Goldbär for Haribo and Hubba Bubba for Wrigley´s.

Since I mentioned cult siren Elvira in this post I wanted to add a video from my long list of Elvira videos. This is a pilot for a show on the coattails of the Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark movie that sadly never was syndicated.

Yesterday I could only include one video about Mariah Carey so here is another one, I Don´t which I haven´t heard before. I´m really not up to date on all things Mariah Carey and I hope it isn´t deleted too quickly.

Coming from my number three sexual obsession to the second place on that list, since I mentioned hasian Yaya Han in my last post you probably expected a video about the cosplaying sexbomb with the titanic twin torpedoes but don´t worry boob lovers instead I´m going with another fan favorite, Angie Griffin whose bulging one hundred percent natural 41E bustline even eclipses Yaya´s surgically improved 40D made for porn oppai.

Here is her Agent Alice cosplay and Angie looks mas bueno que el pan.

Speaking of hot sexbombs built for starring in adult movies to double your fun ( and by double your fun I mean increase the size of your erection ) watch the spanish version where Angie even sounds like a pornstar.

Since Brian Bolland also did covers for Shade, The Changing Man and I wanted to include something Vertigo - related in this post here is the cartoon short from DC Nation. Every time I see one of those I can´t help but wondering if this was the whole reason why the NEW 52 was started.

Happy retro Wednesday with Marc Silvestri

Marc Silvestri celebrates his 58th birthday so I wanted to grab the chance to post some pages from my favorite runs of Marvel´s merry mutants.

I´m still trying to catch up and with this post I´m only one day behind. Longtime readers of this blog know that I started to read UNCANNY X - MEN in the american original during Marc Silvestri´s tenure on the book and it´s my favorite period of the book. So far I only have the X - MEN : INFERNO PROLOGUE with the first issues of his run in hardcover ( because when the X - MEN INFERNO hardcover was offered at half price - which I even posted on the blog - I had just gotten the regular trade and so let this unique opportunity pass by ) but I hope Disney continues with the X - MEN omnibus. If I ever would pay the 150 scheckels an ARTIST´S EDITION goes for here in Germany it would only be for some original UNCANNY X - MEN art by Marc Silvestri. Since I still hope to write a post about the X - Men´s australian adventure in the future I tried to select some art that is not essential to making that post but fantastic looking nonetheless.

Writer Chris Claremont also gave disco mutant Dazzler new life who had been very undeservedly languishing in comic limbo up to this point.

I know that right now people see Dazzler mostly as a joke but I remember reading the first issues when they came out in the spanish translation by Vertice ( I don´t think the series was ever published in Germany ) and the art was pretty decent with John Romita Jr. doing the pencils and Alfredo Alcala inking. I would like to read the entire series at some point to see if it was really as bad as people say and you just know that with the amount of Epic Collections Disney is churning out at the moment it is only a matter of time before they run out of good material and have to resort to reprinting this. Also I think this series has the potential to be adapted as the next Netflix hit. I mean it´s basically EMPIRE but with super powers.

Ah, Rogue. She was one of the new additions to the team - at least new for me since she had already been part of the X - Men for some time when I started to read the book - and I instantly fell in love with her character.

After wrapping up things on the UNCANNY X - MEN title Marc Silvestri continued doing what he does best but on another mutant related book teaming up with writer Larry Hama for one of the best WOLVERINE runs.

Some months ago I got volumes 1 and 2 of WOLVERINE BY LARRY HAMA & MARC SILVESTRI but like X - MEN : INFERNO PROLOGUE I haven´t had the time to read it. It was in the bargain section at amazon and although I have all the issues in single form I bought it because the printing in the first issues is not that good. I am just glad they didn´t use the new airbrush coloring they have in the new THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON trades that totally overpowers the pencil and ink artwork. Anyway, I can only recommend those trades even though they put a lot of stuff in it that neither by Larry Hama nor Marc Silvestri. But if you have to take some padding I guess it could be worse than comics by Alan Davis or Mignola.

The child android / killer robot Elsie Dee was one of the more interesting characters that Larry Hama came up with ( although I found it quite difficult to read her dialogue at times ) during his run on the book and it´s a testament to his writing abilities that he could do a 180 switch from heartfelt drama to laugh out loud comedy with her at the drop of a hat.

I always was waiting for the third volume that would wrap up Larry Hama´s run but for some reason Disney decided to put the rest of the issues - WOLVERINE 47 to 57 - in the WOLVERINE : WEAPON X UNBOUND trade.

Maybe it´s just me but how do they expect to earn money when they suddenly discontinue a series and just put the remaining issues into a completely different paperback without any mentioning that this is the continuation of the previous series ? I mean, this is not my first rodeo and it took me a while to find out that I needed this to wrap up the Larry Hama WOLVERINE run. How in the world do they expect regular comic shop customers who are comic newbies for the most part to know this ?

Sometimes you really wonder how decisions get made there. Anyway, if you too were wondering what happened to those trades you know which one to get now and for my german readers I want to mention that you can get the trade that is usually priced at around 35 EUROS at amazon for 23 EUROS right now. By the way if you have not read the WOLVERINE issues by Larry Hama you might want to skip the next part. Spoilers, sweetie.

After WOLVERINE Marc Silvestri went on the become one of the founders of iMAGE Comics where he first did his CYBERFORCE series whose main draw was his knack for drawing the female form and not the writing.

He also was involved in other stuff at Top Cow like WITCHBLADE and THE DARKNESS but I wasn´t very interested in those and only read the issues my brother bought. I know there was a WITCHBLADE tv series but of course they didn´t dare to put her costume from the comic books in it.

Makes you wonder why they bothered to leave Marvel in the first place if they left their balls there. Anyway, my brother got me the HUNTER KILLER trade paperback but the story was more complicated than necessary and it didn´t help that Marc skipped the pencils after the first few issues.

And that´s all for this post. I know that he did some other stuff at Marvel like the final issues of Grant Morrison´s run on NEW X - MEN and one of the CIVIL WAR specials. He also did some issues for the X - MEN / DARK X - MEN : UTOPIA crossover brouhaha which is one of the last good X - Men stories before things got too complicated. Because there are a lot of tie in and special issues involved ( I read it in the german translation by PANINI and they packed everything that was even remotely connected into those issues ) I want to get it in a collected edition but so far I have only found the trade and I would like to have it in a nice yet affordable hardcover.

Again it´s time for the links and since I don´t know when I´ll get to do the post about Marc Silvestri´s run on Uncanny X - Men or the next Inferno / Inferno Crossover post I am putting all links about that topic here in the meantime so I can find them easier and don´t have to go over so many bookmarks each time I make a new post. That saves me a lot of time.

We start things of with COLLECTED EDITIONS review of the Inferno trade and THE MOVIE BLOG has a series of post about the event with individual chapters for the main X - Men issues , the Avengers issues , the Excalibur issues , the Fantastic Four issues and finally the Daredevil issues . The real GENTLEMEN OF LEISURE examine Uncanny X - Men 221, which has the first appearance of Mr. Sinister as well as the Inferno tie - ins ( part 1 / part 2 ) and CHRIS CLAREMONT : MIND CONTROL takes a look at the Brood three - parter from Uncanny X - Men 232 to 234 which was my start with the american issues of the series ( and which you can find in the X - MEN : INFERNO PROLOGUE omnibus ) as well as New Mutans 26 to 28 which was the introduction of Legion into the Marvel universe which might be of interest now that the Legion tv series has started. IT`S A DAN`S WORLD reminiscences about Uncanny X - Men 242, the Inferno issue in which the new team of X - Men under the leadership of Wolverie and Storm meet the original mutants of X - Factor for the first time and you can find more original Uncanny X - Men pages by Marc Silvestri on STORM ARCANA .

Marc also put his art skills to the best possible use by participating in the Marvel Swimsuit Specials and you can find some scans of that on ANTRO ATOMICO DEL DOC and GIANT - SIZE MARVEL has the Adam Hughes entries of that series ( part 1 / part 2 ) while COMIC BOOK RESOURCES , COMICS ALLIANCE and iO9 do concentrate more on the pin ups of male characters.

To close things out the continuity freaks among my readers might want to check out the HOW WOULD YOU FIX website that tackles the topics that normal comic readers have problems wrapping their head around like Mr. Sinister´s Origin and other complicated conundrums of likewise caliber.

We start our birthdays with Lucy Lawless who turns 49. She is of course best known for the Xena tv series which was a spin - off from Hercules : The Legendary Journeys. At first I was not so keen on her as a warrior princess - whatever that is supposed to be - but then I read that she was the only one who agreed to play the part. Xena was just supposed to be a one off one - dimensional Hercules villain therefore all the other actresses couldn´t be bothered which I supposed they regretted once Lucy was so successful in the role that she got her own series. I am always looking for comic book connections but I am not sure if it is worth the effort here.

Even if Lucy Lawless did the voice of Wonder Woman in Justice League : The New Frontier the whole point may be moot since the Wonder Woman in the newest movies looks more like Xena than Wonder Woman anyway.

Coming back to Xena´s Hercules roots, now that Kevin Sorbo has been on Supergirl ( as Lar Gand nonetheless ) the question on everybody´s mind is when will Lucy make an appearance ? Since Xena celebrated lesbian life I thought it only fitting to choose a video with Xena and Gabrielle both.

Making one of my famous smooth segueways Lucy Lawless was Kathleen Clayton on probably the only Tarzan tv series I have never heard of while Christopher Lambert - who celebrates his 60th birthday - played the Lord of The Jungle in Greystoke - The Legend Of Tarzan, Lord Of The Apes one of the best adaptions of Edgar Rice Burroughs pulp hero on the big screen.

You also can´t fault Christopher´s taste in women because after being married to Diane Lane - who showed her stripper skills in The Big Town - for six years he gave it to the wardrobe malfunction prone queen of explicit nude scenes, french ( in every sense of the word ) blow up sex doll Sophie " Tits Out " Marceau at every chance he got seven years long.

Christopher Lambert has been on a few classic cult movies like Highlander ( there can be only one - and there is only one since the sequels don´t exist for me ), The Hunted ( one of my favorite white guy caught in ninjas vs samurai BS movies ever ), Fortress or Mortal Kombat ( he is still the best Lord Raiden ) but Today I want to pimp one of his best movies most people don´t know about : Subway by cult director Luc Besson from 1985.

On Monday we had Pauley Perette´s birthday who plays Abby Sciuto on NCIS, Today we have Christopher Lambert who was Marcel Janvier on NCIS : Los Angeles and Marina Sirtis who turns 62 and who played new Mossad boss Orli Elbaz on NCIS. She also did the voices for Mrs Wheeler, Sandra Stanyon and Queen Bee on Young Justice and Demona, Margot and Ms. Destine on Disney´s Gargoyles but she is of course best known for rocking the spandex cleavage on Star Trek : The Next Generation and the best parts of some episodes were counselor Deanna Troy breathing heavily.

There are even some online rumors - but there´s probably no truth to it - that her role was supposed to be the ship´s telepathic sexdoll. In the first draft Deanna Troy wasn´t the ship´s counselor but rather the " ship´s consolation officer " a orgasmic priestess from the planet Betasex skilled in all known sex techniques to be used by the male crew for stress relief.

Because of their telepathic abilities the women from Betasex were ideal prostitutes since they knew every perverted sex fantasy their visitors would not even admit to themselves and they also had a very high pain threshold and were very resilient so their clients could really go for it and hammer their bodies without restraint. Which happened very often when they were working at some mining outpost frequented by sex - starved aliens with dozens of huge reproductive organs or long slimy tentacles.

Anyway, that´s just a silly rumor and there´s probably nothing to it. I mean the whole concept would never have passed american tv censors.

What is strange is the fact that for someone who is just supposed to give people advice she wore a pretty sexed up outfit that would totally defeat the purpose of counseling. All her male customers would be thinking about ripping her uniform off and banging her brains out and knowing it would be really uncomfortable. I guess the reason why they only made her kind of telephatic was that if she knew what the male crew members were thinking she couldn´t walk ten feet in the Enterprise and would never visit the bar. Speaking about the bar, if her role was to give people sage advice why did Guinan do basically the same ? So while still unverified the idea of Deanna Troi not only as the ship´s cleavage but also the ship´s adult entertainment system does have its merit. On the other side we know that the holo deck was used for the same thing. It´s so confusing.

What I could verify is that in the original draft Deanna Troy was supposed to have three breast, Tasha Yar had an unhealthy sexual crush on Wesley Crusher and Captain Picard couldn´t help but noticing  the ship´s Doctor Beverly Crusher´s natural walk resembles that of a striptease queen. Oy. Anyway, click here for more GIFs of Doctor Crusher´s and Deanna Troi´s space yoga,The 21 Times Dr. Beverly Crusher Was Your Fashion Idol and last but not least THE VALKYRIE DIRECTIVE takes a more than extensive look at Kira and Dax´s wardrobe through the Deep Space Nine series.

Time for another brilliant segueway : while Lucy Lawless appeared on the Hercules show with Kevin Sorbo Eric Idle who celebrates his 74th birthday did the voice of Mr. Parentheses on the cartoon series that followed the awful Disney movie. Besides being a member of the legendary comedy troupe Monty Python´s Flying Circus he played butler Passepartout in the tv series Around The World In 80 Days with Pierce Brosnan as Phileas Fogg and appeared in the underappreciated Mom And Dad Save The World. In spite of this long prologue I´m not going to post a video from any of these because I can´t pass up the chance to include another episode of Shelley Duvall´s Faerie Tale Theater. I don´t know what it is about The Pied Piper Of Hamelin, if it´s that the complete episode is spoken in rhyme, if it is Eric Idle´s great performance or the hauntingly beautiful music by James Horner but I enjoyed it more than previous installments and you will too.

Our last candidate needs no introduction ( at least in Europe, I don´t know how well known he´s in Amerika ) Mario Girotti better known as Terence Hill turns 78 who started his career in the german Winnetou movies and became one half of the comedy duo of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill that dominated german movie theaters in the 80s. He is famous for his incredibly blue eyes and penetrating look of pure steel.

I´m always reluctant to put full movies on the blog, not because I think that this will keep people from buying these movies ( which in many cases they can´t because they are not available and can only be seen through YouTube ) but because they get deleted and then I have to look for a substitute. Anyway, right now there are a few Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies on YouTube but I had to go with Terence Hill´s best movie My Name Is Nobody and I have to go with the german dubbing because it has at least 50 percent more jokes than the original english language version.
