Man of Tomorrow Tuesday : Grant Morrison

Initially I wanted to do another post about Stan Sakai´s brilliant USAGI YOJIMBO series ( because I used one of the covers in my last post and realized that I haven´t written nearly enough about it ) but while doing the research as always I was going through the celebrity birthdays of the day and I had just to do one in honor of Grant Morrison´s 57th birthday.

If his birthday had fallen on a Friday I would have done a FLASH FRIDAY post but it´s not and also I wanted to do something different. For those who want to sample some of his FLASH issues I have already posted issues 130 , 131 , 132 and 134 in my FLASH FRIDAY Paul Ryan appreciation posts with more on the way. We will eventually get to all of them although it may take a while for me to post those issues not drawn by Paul Ryan.

So instead of posting a particular issue from a series I´m doing one of the ever popular cover posts. As always these are personal favorites and series I have read and by no accounts meant as the ultimate representation of his work. So don´t be offended of your favorite series or issue is not to be found but if you are so inclined you can tell me which one that is in the comments. After all one of the reasons for making these posts is to remind readers of the oeuvre of certain creators and point them in the direction of stuff they haven´t read and might want to try out - which of course includes myself. All of these books are highest recommended and you can easily find a plethora of posts singing their praises so I won´t even try it. Some of the series have even had a big influence in pop culture like I do not know if there would have been a MATRIX trilogy without Grant Morrison´s INVISIBLES and if what it would have looked like. Without further ado here´s a sampling of the best of the best of Grant Morrison.

Now you might have noticed that there are no Marvel covers among my selection and before there are wild speculations on the internet I want to say that it´s not that I think Grant Morrison didn´t do great work there but after two Marvel - centric posts my readers might want a little break.

Speaking about taking a break, after our last long birthday - centric video block Today we are taking things light and easy starting with Batman & Robin. It´s one of the few NEW 52 series I actually enjoyed and there are still a few chapters I have to read. But before Grant Morrison took the dynamic duo under his wings there was an animated version which was much less gloom and doom which influenced a lot of creative people.

Which is our segueway to Animal Man, one of Grant Morrison´s first big hits which I discovered while on vacation in Spain. During that time I had already started to read a lot of american comics so it was not always easy to find spanish translations of comics I hadn´t already read which meant a lot of Vertigo stuff. So it was more the fact that I desperately needed something to read that made me pick up this book. Because I would not have picked it for the art. But after reading a few issues I was hooked so if you haven´t already picked this one up do yourself a favor. You can get the back issues from the dollar bin, find the trades or even the omnibus.

This video is actually a re - post but it´s already been long enough that it bears another spotlight on the blog. Also : Flex Mentallo is just the best !

I really have a knack for going from one extreme to the other and since Grant Morrison also worked on Vampirella here is one of the worst comic book adaptions ever with former Bond girl Talisa Soto and Roger Daltrey.

I always have a hard time deciding which music video I´m going to post so I chose one with 3 incredible performers from different casting shows.

Originally I wanted to wait until Tomorrow to make a special post in honor of Ron Frenz´ 57th birthday but then I asked myself : why wait another day ? And maybe I still can make a special THORSDAY post Tomorrow.

Like usual I went through all my folders because the Ron Frenz stuff was scattered all over the laptop and it very quickly became apparent that there are only two folders with a lot of Ron Frenz artwork : the one with the THOR stuff after Walter Simonson´s run and the SPIDER - GIRL stuff.

As I said, if I am going to do a post about Ron Frenz´ THOR run it will be on Thorsday and probably something with Eric Masterson. Because the Epic Collection THOR - IN MORTAL FLESH comes out in August I was thinking maybe one of the issues that are included but then I thought it would be better to post an issue I have already covered. Now I´m thinking maybe neither since what I really want to post is an issue with Eric Masterson like maybe his first issue as the new god of thunder or even the first issue of THUNDERSTRIKE. That was one of my favorite series from the 1990s.

Okay, so now that I had decided not to do the usual selection of covers post I didn´t just want to post random pages from the SPIDER - GIRL series so the only full stories I have are from SPIDER - MAN FAMILY 5 and 6.

Longtime readers may remember that way back when the book was still fighting against cancellation I wrote a post about this cheap ploy. Ever since the Spider - Girl from the Marvel 2 universe hit the comic scene Marvel has done it´s best to kill it which is one of the reasons I have trouble swallowing this new all different, all diversified Marvel NOW universe. Because as much as everybody hates the 90s comics we DID have a female Spider - Man that was the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. Marvel doesn´t have anything that comes near it, current, past or in the future and at it´s time it was one of the only two Spider - Man - related series you could still read. The other was UNTOLD TALES OF SPIDER - MAN which started out costing less than a dollar. All the other Spider - books couldn´t compete, not contentwise and definitely not where the price was concerned. Today they tell you that they can´t produce good comic books if they don´t cost five bucks but back then they did it all for under a dollar. Really makes you think.

By the way, in the Marvel 2 universe we had a female Thor, a female Captain America AND a female Wolverine. Just for all those readers out there who think that Marvel is now at the height of racial and sexual diversity. So if you thought having X 23 as the new Wolverine is a brilliant new idea they already tried this with WILD THING who at least was the daughter of Wolverine ( with Psylocke, no less. Logan gets all the babes ).

Coming back to Spider - Girl, after I set on posting her story from SPIDER - MAN FAMILY 5 I went looking if I could find some original art from the issue but like always I found more than I had bargained for which was dozens of pages from all the other series he has worked on. In any case I had already put back all the other stuff and it was much too late to change the post.

So here is the first Spider - Girl post which I promised I don´t know how many years ago and I hope I can do the second part of this next week.

birthdays

We start Today´s celebrity birthdays with Lisa Marie Scott who turns 43.

This professional ballet dancer of japanese descent became Playmate Of The Month in February 1995 and was the first playmate to be featured on the PLAYBOY website. She also pursued a film career and you might have seen her in Friends, Baywatch Nights, Married With Children, Playboy videos or midnight classics Ringer with Shannon Whirry or The Corporate Ladder with Ben Cross, Talisa Soto ( whom we had in our last post as Vampirella ), Meilani Paul and Lorenzo Llamas´ wife, Kathleen Kinmont.

After her film career Lisa went back to college to study and majored in history summa cum laude. She then went on to law school but soon found out that it was not the job she wanted so she went back to modeling.

Next we have porn star royalty with ultimate blonde blow up sex doll Jill Kelly, who majored the porn star academy sukka cum louder thanks to her 37E - 24 - 36 measurements, superior oral skills and a relentless sex drive. The now 46 year old lesbian who derived her stage name from two of Charlie´s Angels and lied about her age to perform at her hometown strip club with 15 has retired after starring in over 50 b movies and more than 400 adult films - some of them produced by her own company Jill Kelly Productions - but she left with one of best performances in her farewell to her fans 100 % Jill about which she said : I wanted the movie to really define my sexuality since that's what being a performer in this industry is all about. It's a very sex - driven video. It's not big on dialogue and it's not big on plot. It doesn't waste any time in getting right down to the heart of what I like sexually. I'm really proud of it. It's the perfect send - off.

If there is one actor who definitely has german roots it is Brian Krause who celebrates his 48th birthday. He is best known for his longstanding role of Leo Wyatt on Charmed. In the show he was romantically involved with Holly Marie Combs´ character but in real life he dated Alyssa Milano ( who by the way just had her 44th birthday in December so you might want to check out her post which has links to previous Alyssa Milano posts ) and who wouldn´t ? Now can we cancel the whole stupid reboot idea ?

Today we have a playmate Two - In - One party as one of my favorite centerfolds, the tall, buxom and brunette Donna Edmondson turns 51.

My days of reading PLAYBOY are long gone - especially since they don´t have pictures of naked women anymore what completely defeats the purpose - but I still kept my copy of the german issue in a secure place. Which by the way didn´t have Donna on the cover but german bunny Kirsten Schaefer. It also had an article on Falco - but we´ll get to him later.

Back to Donna Edmondson, I don´t know if she was predestined to take her clothes off for men´s magazines but in her high school yearbook she was voted " Most likely to become a bunny. " Which she did and thanks to her stunning 36F - 23 - 35 measurements she not only became Playmate Of The Month in November 1986 but was voted Playmate Of The Year in 1987.

Now since I read the german issues I had no idea how people in America react to certain playmates ( which is one reason why writing these entries is interesting - I learn so much ) and I had no idea about the controversy because Donna Edmondson was called The Virgin Playmate after it came out that at the time she did her nude pictorial for PLAYBOY she was still a virgin. Which got all the tv stations interested in interviewing The Virgin Playmate Of The Year from the Bible Belt which got all the politicians and religious zealots involved. I remember that at that time there were a lot of politicians who wanted to make a name for themselves by posing as paragons of virtue and decency by attacking the easy targets like movies, magazines and comics. People from my generation may remember how one politician furthered his career by driving the Volksverlag out of business while the other publishers did nothing. Because the money grubbing bastards were too busy thinking about which licenses they were going to bid for once the Volksverlag had to cease publication. According to what I read a report by the Meese Commission prompted all 7 - Elevens to pull the issue of PLAYBOY from their shelves and Joan Rivers ( who had an interview in that same issue ) did her best to rake Donna over the coals.

In the end all we have Today are fond memories of Ms Edmondson´s great pictorials and she hasn´t done bad for herself as she took a job as a tax accountant after the whole scandal where she met her husband with whom she has three kids. The best revenge is a life lived to its fullest.

Thorsday : Whosoever holds this hammer !

$

As promised Yesterday here is the very first appearance of Eric Masterson as the new Thor from THE MIGHTY THOR issue 433 penciled by Ron Frenz.

Since I already explained why I chose this issue from Ron Frenz´ epic run on Thor I will only address a few misconceptions that people might have.

Most of them have to do with the newest female version of Thor. Which is neither a very good idea - at least in my opinion - nor a very novel one. Right from the start the idea of somebody else becoming the mighty Thor has always been around. In fact a lot of people might not realize it but it is the origin story of Marvel´s Thor in JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY issue 83 from August 1962. Before it has been retroactively changed that Doctor Donald Blake was just the earthly disguise Odin made for the thunder god to teach him some much needed humility Doctor Blake was just a lowly earthling who found a stick and when he struck it on the ground he was imbued with the power of Thor. But he was not Thor. He was a citizen of Midgard who got his power because as the inscription says Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.

In the current incarnation of the THOR book they make a big deal about the fact that the inscription says he and not she but as anybody with a bit of learning can tell you these old inscriptions are not always meant to be taken literal. They are written according to the times in which they are written and all notions of implied male chauvinism aside you can´t expect them so write Whosoever holds this hammer, if he / she / it or any mix / combination thereof be worthy / struck with an incurable illness or be passable as a temporary replacement in a time of crisis, shall posses the power of Thor on the hammer. After all there is only so much room on that hammer or they would have to write it so tiny nobody could really read it.

Because what all those social justice warriors who are fighting so strongly for the new female Thor don´t know - aside from comics obviously - is that the inscription is just the short version and there are many clauses and a lot of fine print that comes with it. And which is not always spilled out. There have been many times somebody else has been able to lift the hammer. Even Superman once managed to do it. Until he didn´t. For all those who have not read the brilliant JLA / AVENGERS four issue mini series by Kurt Busiek and George Perez ( I´m not commenting on this, you deprive yourself of one of the best comics ever ) in issue four Superman sports Captain America´s mighty shield and manages to employ Mjolnir.

But once the crisis has passed and the main villain has been defeated Superman tries to pick up Mjolnir and is not able to lift it anymore.

According to Kurt Busiek part of the enchantment Odin placed on the hammer is a kind of fail safe that enables suitable candidates to lift the hammer in times of need going so far as replacing the god of thunder for lengthy times if he should be missing, incapacitated or even dead. And to tell the truth I find it a bit hard to swallow that the inscription should be so adaptable and open to interpretation in this case and so inflexible and literal where gender is concerned. So the whole thing with the inscription changing itself so a woman can claim the power of Thor is clearly a case of somebody having no idea about how these things work. As well as comic books since Jane Foster has become the mighty Thor once before and without having to change anything - which I wrote about in this post .

Coming back to Ron Frenz´ run on THOR, there are various replacement Thors including a Thor from a future where the real Thor has disappeared.

The main one is Eric Masterson who first becomes Thor´s secret identity after he is mortally injured and Thor melds his life force with him to safe his life. Which Sif once did with Jane Foster to save her life when she was struck with an incurable disease in a story nobody seems to remember.

Probably because either it doesn´t work with the story ( grrr, darn that annoying continuity ) or having Jane Foster as Sif´s secret identity would not generate the news media buzz Disney aims for now or maybe it´s that as open and gender bending as Marvel claims to be they are not ready to have a woman as Thor´s secret identity. Although that would certainly be a much more interesting story than what they got going on right now.

Now Eric Masterson was a callback to the original Thor series - as you might say was the entire THOR run by Tom DeFalco - in that at first you had two different personas trading places with each other like Rick Jones and Captain Marvel before or even Billy Batson and the original Captain Marvel from Fawcett Comics. Both were separate individuals and when one appeared the other vanished. Like it had been the case with Doctor Donald Blake and Thor in the earliest issues of THOR. The original part came when Thor disappeared to parts unknown ( this mystery unfolded in the what I like to call The Soul Shroud Saga as nobody else has cared to put a name on it ) and Eric Masterson had to fill in for Thor full time. This was really the first time somebody from Midgard had to learn the ropes of wielding the power of Thor while struggling with trying to lead a normal life. Which in the case of Eric Masterson meant working as an architect and having a semi normal relationship with his son while sharing custody with his ex - wife and her new husband who was a rich football player.

It was really the first time we saw a mere mortal struggling with having to live up to the standards of a god ( even when Donald Blake had no idea that he was the original Thor he was on autopilot when he became the god of thunder ) so it´s no wonder I got hooked. Plus, he went back to the bearded look Simonson brought into the comics. I was so disappointed when the clean shaven girly man Thor made a comeback and Eric stayed true to the beard through his short lived career from replacement Thor to Thunderstrike. Which I also followed religiously. Even though Eric had not to wrestle with having to fill Thor´s boots anymore now he had to find a place for himself in the world and prove to the hero community that he was a hero in his own rights and not only a cheap Thor knockoff whom the Avengers would call when Thor was busy. The story sure had potential but the writers never got the right handle on him and finally decided to take the easy way out and kill him off. With all the reality changing / bending / melding all - new, all - different Marvel NOW stuff I was hoping they would bring Thunderstrike back but I guess it´s too much to expect that even one single good thing comes out of all of this crap rehashing old stories.

Anyway, what should have been a short introduction has once again become much too long so let´s finally get to Eric Masterson´s first adventure as the real Thor. Hammers high, buddy, we miss you.

As a bonus - and because I think a letters page is an integral part of a comic book - here is the letters page from THE MIGHTY THOR issue 433 which has a sidebar on the retirement of Joe Sinnott who was the regular inker on this series from issues 400 to 429 ( which was the second issue guest - starring Ghost Rider which brought me back to reading THOR ).

Al Milgrom took over with issue 430 of THOR and later followed Ron Frenz to THUNDERSTRIKE where he became the regular inker until its demise.

She puts the f - word into sci fi : Jeri Ryan

$
0
0
Today hot sci fi sexbomb Jeri Ryan celebrates her 49th birthday so it is about time to pimp her cult siren entry which I posted two years ago.

Because as always I went through the list of celebrity birthday posts I had done on this month in previous years and for some reason I didn´t re - post this. And comparing the original Jeri Ryan post with my latest re - post of Star Trek sexbomb Jolene Blalock there really was no competition.

Also there have been a lot of animated Star Trek GIFs added to the blog. Anyway, this is the new version and if you have any information where I can find better Jeri Ryan GIFs or pictures please let me know. Now Star Trek - Voyager stuck Jeri Ryan and her titanic tits in a skin - tight suit in the show after Season 3 as the 36DD drone of Borg Seven of Nine ( or Sex with Nine ). It´s no surprise that it´s the role she´s best known for.

Jeri was one of three reasons to watch the show, and I´m not counting her awesome twin torpedoes and the holographic Doctor as three.

I´m also putting half - klingon sexbomb B´Elanna Torres on the list.

But to tell the truth for me it was mostly hardbody Jeri and her big borg boobies that I could suffer the show because it was so badly written.

She´s the only reason people want to get assimilated - although in this case I´d rather be tittilated, if you catch my drift. I think Harry Kim is probably one of the few males in creation who was afraid to get it on with her. Most others - myself included - would love to have a borgasm with a sex machine ( literally ! ) that´s built like Jeri. And as a cyborg she can take a great deal of punishment and has a lot of endurance. So you don´t have to be gentle and you get a lot of mileage out of this cyber amazon.

Number 13 on THE 50 SEXIEST SCI FI COSTUMES

Borg - couture is clearly heavily influenced by the science fiction classic Buck Rogers In The Twenty - Fifth Century. Ryan’s ‘ orphaned ’ spandex - clad demi - alien Seven Of  Nine was usually rated 10 by the male fans that the character was clearly put in to attract after a ratings dip.

Ryan only took the role at the fifth attempt by producer Jeri Taylor. A certain contingent of Trekkers took umbrage at the inclusion of a crew - member so overtly sexy in the usually glam - free Trek - verse. The rest of us were busy setting our vcrs as we fell for the oldest trick in the book.

Jeri´s boobs were so huge that they made her skintight suit darker and darker so you couldn´t see them as good but to no avail. Seven of Nine is THE cyborg sex machine every sci fi fanboy wants to assimilate and the only one who could hold a candle to her was Jolene Blalock as T´Pol, the sex massage specialist with the inbuilt automatic Pon Farr nympho mode.

Jeri Ryan discussed the costume with Trek Today :  The whole ' sex symbol 'or ' babe 'thing doesn't bother me. It's the costume that I wear on the show which is ... a little snug, shall we say, and doesn't leave a whole lot to the imagination. I don't have a problem with it because of the way this character's been written, how intelligent she is and how strong she is and what a wonderful female portrayal she is.

Although there is lot of booty in Star Trek : Uhura in the original series,

the green slave girl which was played by Batgirl Yvonne Craig,

all of Kirk´s girls which he just seemed to find on any planet he was on,

Tasha Yar in Next Generation got android Data to turn on his sex files,

there were also Deanna Troy and Beverly Crusher in Next Generation,

bajoran chief of security Major Kira on Star Trek - Deep Space Nine,

Jadzia Dax on Deep Space Nine ( who had been a man in her last life ),

Ezri Dax on Deep Space Nine ( she was the next incarnation of Jadzia ),

I always brain fart on Chase Masterson who plays Rom´s hot wife Leeta

then the former borg drone Seven of Nine on Star Trek - Voyager

Enterprise´s hasian sexbomb Ensign Hoshi Sato played by Linda Park

or vulcan crew member T´Pol on Enterprise played by Jolene Blalock.

Really, someone at starfleet has a knack for picking hot chicks.

Man, I´d love to do a sandwich with T´Pol and Sex with Nine during the time of Pon Farr. Between the insatiable vulcan nymphomanic sex addict and the inexhaustible cyborg sexdoll you could probably wear yourself out for all time. Not that anybody would complain about going out like that.

Coming back to Jeri Ryan she didn´t get naked on Star Trek - Voyager although there were some scenes in which she was supposedly naked we just didn´t get to see it since there was no full frontal nudity involved.

The best we got were some scenes where we could see her back - but not her butt like with Jolene Blalock in the unforgettable sex massage scenes.

( go to Jolene Blalock´s solo post to read more about her sex massages )

I heard that Kate Mulgrew was constantly bitching because she didn´t get the attention she thought she deserved as star of the show. Okay, let us think about this, there are two women on the show : one a bitchy old broad and one a smoking hot sexborg. Hmm, who gets more attention ?

And let´s be realistic : nobody likes Captain Janeway. Not because she´s a woman. But because she´s frigging crazy. With the other Captains you knew where you stood. Kirk always broke the rules and his crew was the most important thing for him. Picard always obeyed the rules - but his crew was more important. Captain Sisko bended the rules on occassion because he was first stuck out in the middle of nowhere and then he became an emissary of the gods. And in the end he became a god. But Janeway ? One day the rules are the most important thing, the next day she couldn´t care less because it´s Wednesday or that time of the month.

And she didn´t care about her crew at all. They could all kick the bucket as far as she cared. With her as captain your f - word - ed ! Just ask Seven of Nine, she was told by Janeway that she´s nothing but a toaster. Daimn, she can roast my baguette any time she likes if you know what I mean.

Reading some online threads you could think Jeri Ryan was the first actress on Star Trek who was brought in to sex the show up. But as a matter of fact Marina Sirtis was on tv long before rocking the cleavage and the best parts of some episodes were counselor Troy breathing heavily.

There are even some online rumors - but there´s probably no truth to it - that her role was supposed to be the ship´s telepathic sexdoll. In the first draft Deanna Troy wasn´t the ship´s counselor but rather the " ship´s consolation officer " a orgasmic priestess from the planet Betasex skilled in all known sex techniques to be used by the male crew for stress relief.

Because of their telepathic abilities the women from Betasex were ideal prostitutes and they also had a very high pain threshold and were very resilient so their clients could go for it. Which happened very often when they were working at some mining outpost frequented by sexstarved aliens with dozens of huge reproductive organs or slimy tentacles.

Anyway, that´s just a silly rumor and there´s probably nothing to it. I mean the whole concept would never have passed american tv censors.

What is strange is the fact that for someone who is just supposed to give people advice she wore a pretty sexed up outfit that would totally defeat the purpose of counseling. All her male customers would be thinking about ripping her uniform off and banging her brains out and knowing it would be really uncomfortable. I guess the reason why they only made her kind of telephatic was that if she knew what the male crew members were thinking she couldn´t walk ten feet in the Enterprise and would never visit the bar. Speaking about the bar, if her role was to give people sage advice why did Guinan do basically the same ? So while still unverified the idea of Deanna Troi not only as the ship´s cleavage but also the ship´s adult entertainment system does have its merit. On the other side we know that the holo deck was used for the same thing. It´s so confusing.

What I could verify is that in the original draft Deanna Troy was supposed to have three breast, Tasha Yar had an unhealthy sexual crush on Wesley Crusher and Captain Picard couldn´t help but noticing  the ship´s Doctor Beverly Crusher´s natural walk resembles that of a striptease queen. Oy. Anyway, click here for more GIFs of Doctor Crusher´s and Deanna Troi´s space yoga and The 21 Times Dr. Beverly Crusher Was Your Fashion Idol .

Of course Jeri starred in other tv shows like BOSTON LEGAL for which she did a supersexy photoshoot and even had a scene in which she undressed till she only had a shirt on - which showed much of her fantastic breasts.

I really was lucky to catch that episode because after ALLY MC BEAL I really stay away from courtroom drama series. And I prefer to watch James Spader in THE BLACKLIST. What I did see was the TWO AND A HALF MAN episode with Jeri. In the episode she plays an old flame of Charlie Sheen who starts a relationship with his brother but he is too obsessed with what happened when she was with Charlie - so he ruins it. Poor guy, I bet she would have spoiled him for all other women on earth.

I also caught the episode QUEEN FOR A DAY from WAREHOUSE 13 where Jeri Ryan had a small guest role as Peter Lattimer´s ex wife Amanda.

Kate Mulgrew who played Captain Janeway on STAR TREK VOYAGER was also on the show as Peter´s Mom ( kind of a reunion here although I´m not so sure Kate was so happy to see Jeri again since she was always bitching about Jeri stealing the attention of the viewers away from her ) which didn´t exactly made it easier to watch the show. Not that it isn´t difficult enough to watch the show as they kept changing the time the show was on, then it was put on a different channel and now they are doing marathons. Some day I´ll buy all the seasons and binge watch it.

What I didn´t watch was the O.C. even if was supposed to be for comic people so I didn´t see Jeri in it. And I somehow missed DRACULA 2000 which was probably as bad as it sounds so I might have lucked out on this one and the only good parts were the ones with a very busty Jeri Ryan.

I also don´t watch BODY OF PROOF, another tv series where Jeri Ryan appears but I´m already watching too many crime series as it is. Although judging by the scene from the episode FALLEN ANGEL I may reconsider.

Other shows where Jeri Ryan appeared include THE SENTINEL, WHO`S THE BOSS, MATLOCK and LEVERAGE. I guess that´s everything covered.

Oh, I almost forgot, Seven of Nine was in the only STAR TREK VOYAGER comic I bought called FALSE COLORS. It was a prestige format one shot from Wildstorm and Jim Lee did the variant cover ( I know it´s the variant cover because it was almost impossible to find a picture of the regular ).

The story was written by Star Trek novelist Nathan Archer and the interior art was done by Jeff Moy ( and possibly Phil Moy on backgrounds ) and W. C. Carani, who had a lengthy run on DC´s threeboot LEGIONNAIRES book.

I don´t remember much about the story so it can´t be that impressive but it wasn´t my favorite Star Trek crew either. I only bought it based on the art and I don´t have any idea where it is at the moment so I can´t check how well the comic has held up. But I know I must have it somewhere.

There are no links for this post except this one that I just had to post. I didn´t make this up : 7 bizarre facts about Deanna Troy´s cleavage .

And with that we come to the video section of this post.

Sit back, relax : Thorsday with Joe Sinnott

If you read my last posts this may not surprise you as I already announced that at least one Joe Sinnott themed THORSDAY post is in the pipeline.

What may surprise you is why this post is so late if I have already prepared all the material in advance. Well, being the perfectionist that I am I went looking for any additional material one last time and I DID find a few pieces I´m including in this post instead of some others I had selected.

But I think the post will be better because of that. Now - like I said - the downside to that is that I found a lot of other stuff ( which is always what happens when you look for one thing on the internet ) including a few great original art pieces by John Romita Jr. so don´t be surprised if one of the next posts is either a spotlight on him or a few selected black and white original art pieces. Anyway, Joe Sinnott has graced a plethora of THOR issues with his inks but most of the splash pages I chose for this are from the Tom DeFalco / Ron Frenz run on the book that followed right on the heels of Walter Simonson´s ( and also Sal Buscema´s ) epic THOR run. Which is the reason it is underappreciated and maybe because of that it´s one of my favorite periods of THOR. If I had to pick a definite run of THOR I  would probably mash both of them together. When the Tom DeFalco / Ron Frenz THOR run came out I didn´t appreciate it as much as I do now ( which is one of the reasons why I took the title off my pull list and now have a hard time to close the gaps in my THOR collection I still have ) and I didn´t see the Kirby influence ( and Stan Lee where the stories are concerned ) although there are also other artists who Ron Frenz emulated.

Of course I had to include a few splash pages by the great John Buscema. You can get his THOR issues either in the ESSENTIAL THOR paperweights or the MARVEL MASTERWORKS if you have a bit more spending money. The ESSENTIALS might be a bit hard to come by now that the line has been canceled but at most comic shops or comic conventions you can get those for around ten bucks. The MASTERWORKS are not as easy to find but I have had the good fortune to find more than one for a good price and there is also the IF ASGARD SHOULD PERISH hardcover that collects a lot of John Buscema´s issues although the second half of the book is inked by Tony DeZuniga instead of Joe Sinnott. I wish they had just included the Joe Sinnott but I can understand that they wanted to wrap up the storyline. In any case there are always the MARVEL MASTERWORKS.

From the Tom DeFalco / Ron Frenz THOR run there have only been a few trades so far - like THE BLACK GALAXY SAGA - and I hope Disney will make more EPIC COLLECTIONS from this run after WAR OF THE PANTHEONS. So far it seems they are putting anything but this in the books. I mean they put the dreadful WORLDENGINE story with the Chippendale version of Thor by Warren Ellis and Mike Deodato in a hardcover for crying out loud.

Since I have exhausted all my Thor links - and the only post that is worth mentioning is one about Joe Sinnott on WIZARDS KEEP - let´s head right to the birthdays which start with Sarah Hyland´s 26th anniversary. She has filled out quite nicely in all the right place which for me serves only as a reminder that I´m still halfway with the first season of Modern Family.

Next we have Katherine Heigl who turns 38 and who has starred in a lot of romantic comedies - most of which I haven´t seen. Maybe I should do something about that. Anyway, for her and Sarah Hyland I went looking if I could find any animated GIFs on the internet - since that is much faster than making my own - but in the end I decided to go with these pictures.

In the case of cuban MILF sexbomb Aylin Mujica´s 42nd birthday I can use a GIF without having to do any work because I already did a long post about herlast year. Maybe I can re - post it later on if I can find the time but for now you have to settle for the old post. Although to tell the truth there is not much to add as I still have not found the time to watch the episodes of the telenovela Marina I found on the internet some time ago.

Now some people say that I am always writing about the same tv cult sirens and that it is mostly out of nostalgia because they are long past their prime. So I am including a video of Aylin Mujica during a red carpet event this year where she proves that she still has a spectacular figure.

Without last year´s post about Aylin Mujica I would not know that another hot cuban also turns 42 : Aylen Alvarez. Because she doesn´t appear on any lists I usually consult when preparing the entertainment section.

I already posted two videos with Aylen and I thought I had to fall back on the last one - a photoshooting in the desert of which there seem to be three versions - when I found this one where she has some amazing body painting. Man, that is the kind of canvas I would love to finger paint on.

Moving on Denise Crosby celebrates her 59th birthday whom I just saw as Doctor Gretchen Kelly in the second season of Lois & Clark : The New Adventures of Superman where she successfully revived Lex Luthor´s corpse. Lately she has made appearances on such shows like Dexter, Mad Men, Prison Break, Bones, The Walking Dead, Scandal, Castle and Ray Donovan but she is of course best known for her role of Security Chief Tasha Yar whose rampant sex drive even overtook Data´s programming.

We are staying with tv programs from my youth but we are making the jump from America to Germany with Ilja Richter, the man, the myth, the legend. He turns 64 and for those of us who grew up during the 70s and 80s he was a constant companion either through the movies he appeared in or through the cult show Disco where his intro Lights out, spot on ! became a part of german culture. I didn´t find any clips of that show with Wencke Myhre - she had a booming body around that time - but instead I found one of his sketches with wannabe erotic starlet Dolly Dollar ( not to be mistaken for german porn star Dolly Buster ). Anybody remember her ?

Another cast member from Star Trek celebrates his 69th birthday. Or don´t you remember that Dwight Schultz played Lt. Barclay ? Although I have to admit that he is most famous as Howling Mad Murdock on The A - Team.

Yes, in the prehistoric times of comicdom Marvel Comics did three issues of The A - Team and since I don´t think many of my readers have it in their collection here is CGR Comics with a review on the third issue.

Today´s music video doesn´t have anything to do with the birthdays or the topic of the post but as longtime readers of my blog know Janet Jackson takes precedence before everything else. In my first post about cult siren Salma Hayek I mentioned Janet´s fantastic performance of All For You on the german show Wetten Dass ? which I missed because of the worst host in the history of german tv entertainment Thomas Gottschalk.

It took me years to finally find this on the internet but so far there was only a video on youTube with one minute of her performance and the rest is her getting pestered by uns Thommy. Well, out of the blue I found this clip with her full performance on YouTube and for those who have only seen the short part of it I am putting this on the blog as soon as possible.

Comics Master Monday with Rich Buckler !

Today is Rich Buckler´s 68th birthday so it´s time to go spelunking in the catacombs of my laptop and see what graphic treasures I can unearth.

Originally I wanted to do a review of his entire career but it´s not only too long to fit into a single post, after seeing how much stuff he did for DC I decided to make this a DC Comics only post since - once again - we had two Marvel posts in a row. Maybe that is the new rhythm from now on.

I thought about what I could add to the post as a little bonus feature for my faithful readers and there have been numerous requests for a better resolution of the splash page for the lead story Strangers At The Heart´s Core from Superman Family 206 with Supergirl in a nightie. I did not only find that page but I´m also including the next page which also has a bit of lingerie action. I wonder if we´ll see something like this on the tv show.

Despite all the material I had in my Rich Buckler folder there was quite a bit of research I had to do to turn this into an all DC post ( maybe I can make an all Marvel post next year since I probably can´t do another Rich Buckler post in the next few days ) and as everyone who has read this blog for any length of time knows that means it´s time for the usual kudos for the peeps out there who create the content guys like me depend on.

First of all a big thank you goes to the guys from A GRAPHIC STATE OF MIND who provided the black and white art for the cover of All New Collectors´ Edition C - 58. Some of the other covers are courtesy of PROFESSOR H´S WAYBACK MACHINE , DIVERSIONS OF THE GROOVY KIND has a collection of splash pages from Space Hunters ( which is where I found the one above ) and there´s a cover gallery of the series on SPACE 1970 ( where else ? ). For more reading fun with Rich Buckler check out CHRIS IS ON INFINITE EARTHS , where you can find Cobra 5 ( this has nothing to do with the german comic Kobra ) and for more six gun action with Jonah Hex follow the old indian trail to THE BRONZE AGE OF BLOGS . Now I didn´t get to write about them in this post ( and Terry Hooper will have some cuss words for that, I´m sure ) but Rich Buckler also worked on The Mighty Crusaders and there is a post about them on BEACH BUM COMICS .

We start our - as always highly selective depending on whether there are any connections to hot chicks or any videos I got bookmarked or at least an interesting story I can tell - celebrity birthday rundown of the day with the always delightful Alice Eve who you might have seen in films like The Raven, Men In Black 3 or Star Trek : Into Darkness and who turns 35.

She is a frequent guest on one of my favorite talk shows, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, although he would probably argue that it´s not a real talk show. I thought I already posted a plethora of her appearances but when I went back to the blog archive I could only find two of them. I know, that´s the noise I made. Anyway, as I didn´t have any bookmarks for Alice Eve I wanted to post one of her best visits to a talk show although it was on another show ( chhh - ptui ) namely Conan O´Brien. I could not find her full appearance but this short clip is enough to give you an idea.

We are staying in England as Rick Astley celebrates his 51st birthday. Sometimes it´s funny how things work out. I remember that Rick Astley and Kylie Minogue started out around the same time. But while all music critics attested a long and prosperous career for Rick Astley because of his obvious great talent most people said Kylie Minogue would never amount to much more than a one hit wonder. In fact, on of the vj´s at Mtv - way back when they were a music channel - Steve Blame ( the guy who looks like Leghorn´s secret brother separated at birth ) went on record that she was nothing more than a one hit wonder and called I Should Be So Lucky the worst written song of all time. Adding fuel to the fire was the fact that for some uncanny reason if you play an Rick Astley song faster it sounds exactly like Kylie Minogue ( or if you prefer it, if you play a Kylie Minogue song slower it sounds exactly like Rick Astley ) which led to the rumour that Kylie was not really singing her songs and that - since they were both under contract at Stock, Aitken & Waterman - it was really Rick Astley. Nobody even thought for a moment that it might be the reverse although Kylie had two big talents of her own as she demonstrates here.

By the way, speaking of demonstrating big talents and down under : is it just my imagination or is Sydney hotter in every new Teens React video lately ? She´s on fire and her chest seems to be growing exponentionally ! If she keeps going in this direction she´s on her best way to become the next Daniela Elger or Tatjana Ohm. Man, if Andy Sidaris or Russ Meyer were still making movies they definitely would have cast this teenage brabuster.

Okay, sadly Sydney is not in this video which I picked because Rick Astley is. Like I said, life is sometimes funny as Kylie Minogue has become the big super star while Rick is remembered for a meme which´s time has passed.

Birthday re - post with cult siren Dona Speir

Since Today is Dona Speir´s 53rd birthday I want to re - post her cult siren entry from last year which was basically cannibalized parts of my post on UNSUNG 80s DIRECT TO VIDEO ICON ANDY SIDARIS because I didn´t get to write much about Dona Speir in the post or in the JLA MOVIE CASTING : ANDY SIDARIS SPECIAL follow up. And she deserves a post of her own.

Now like with all re - posts I will be adding something new, but for the most part it will be stuff that has already been posted on the blog although in other posts. So there will not be that many new stuff, just enough tweaking that it deserves a new post. At first I just wanted to mention it in my next post and put up a link to the old post ( which I already did so if you want to check out the original post use the link above ) but being the perfectionist that I am I was not 100 % satisfied with last year´s post. So I will try my best this time around although there are some of the best pictures of Dona Speir and Roberta Vasquez I can´t post since I am still trying to keep the post - relatively - safe for work.

Looking back I can´t believe how much Bush we had back then - and I am not talking politics here. Luckily there is not so much Bush in the japanese version which kind of surprised me. In any case, I haven´t done any major changes to the main text which therefore looks not as smooth as you are used to. I wrote this on a smaller scale but I had to augment the font size on my screen because otherwise I could not read it. Anyway, you are probably getting really anxious to get to the good part so let´s begin.

Gorgeously buxom, shapely, and statuesque blonde knockout Dona Linda Speir ( 37DD - 24 - 35 ) was born on February the 7th, 1964 in Norwalk, California. Spier was a gymnast and runner while growing up in Newport Beach, California. Speir was the Playmate of the Month in March, 1984.

Not surprisingly, she went to to appear in several Playboy related videos and did follow - up pictorials in a few additional issues of the popular men's magazine. Dona studied film acting with R. J. Adams at The Actors Workshop, Orange County and made guest appearances on episodes of the TV shows AUTOMAN, MIKE HAMMER, MATT HOUSTON, KNIGHT RIDER and MARRIED WITH CHILDREN. She's however best known for portraying tough, gun - toting federal drug enforcement agent Donna Hamilton, in seven low - budget action exploitation features for director Andy Sidaris.

Dona was one of the mainstays from the series alongside Roberta Vasquez who became her bosom buddy ( with an emphasis on the bosom part ).

Dona had been part of the series as federal agent Donna Hamilton since HARD TICKET TO HAWAII, Roberta Vasquez played Panthera in PICASSO TRIGGER and started as Dona´s colleague Nicole in GUNS. Now GUNS brought the Lethal Ladies movie series to a new level because with the unbeatable combo of the busty blonde Dona and the exotic and even bustier raven haired Roberta the male viewers were glued to the tv sets.

Roberta Vasquez was born in Los Angeles, on February 13, 1963. She became Playmate of the Month for November, 1984, her measurements then were 40DD - 25 - 36. She stood at 5'8", weighing 125lb, with some of the most perfect natural breasts to ever appear in PLAYBOY magazine.

A former California Highway Patrolwoman, she ended up playing one in Clint Eastwood's 1990 film, THE ROOKIE. She has also featured in several Playmate compilation videos and publications, including WET AND WILD WOMEN ( July 1987 ) and 21 PLAYMATES ( April 1997 ).

Roberta acted in several movies made by Andy Sidaris, in the late '80s and early '90s where she became the new co star opposite Dona Speir.

Add to that redheads like Cynthia Brimhall, brunettes like Ava Cadell or asians like Carolyn Liu - with dozens of other blond and black haired playmates throw into the mix - and you had all the bases covered.

With her athletic frame and martial arts experience the gorgeous Vasquez is a natural action heroine and with her background in the force she is much more convincing as a federal agent than Dona´s previous on screen partner Hope Marie Carlton. All and all, if anyone had to replace Carlton, Vasquez was certainly a great choice, and her chemistry with both Speir and Bruce Penhall would only grow stronger with each subsequent picture.

Andy is probably THE BEST director of action movies for adults. And his cast reads like a WHOS´S WHO of playmates : Roberta Vasquez, Ava Cadell, Cynthia Brimhall, Dona Speir, Pandora Peaks, Julie Strain, Suzi Simpson, Samantha Phillips and Julie K. Smith to mention just a few.

His business plan was as effective as it was simple : make action movies with playmates who get naked very frequently. What´s the best part of the Bond movies ? The Bond girls. What´s the worst part of the Bond movies ? That we don´t get to see more of the Bond girls. So why not make a movie where the Bond girls - or government agents that are as hot as the Bond girls - are the main characters ? I know it sounds simple but the question is : why has no one done it before - or since ? Thanks to the only legitimate heir to boob king Russ Meyer we could see dozens of hot playmates and small screen babes get naked and get their freak on.

But if you now think that the girls in Andy´s movies were just stupid bimbos there to take their clothes off you couldn´t be more wrong. Okay, in MALIBU EXPRESS where we have a male lead the damsel in distress rule applies but starting with HARD TICKET TO HAWAII the girls took over. And for them to be believable main characters they had to be capable agents and what´s more independent women. Yes, the women in these movies were clearly ahead of their time because they could get along without the help of a man. Which doesn´t mean they were prudes, quite the contrary.

But they didn´t wait around until some Prince Charming decided to get it on - these women took charge at the workplace and in the bedroom.

Another cool thing are the locations in the movies. The first couple stick to Hawaii, then they start to expand out - but usually to the same places - Las Vegas, Texas, Lousiana, and Lake Havasu, Arizona in addition to the regular shoots. There are also stops in Washington DC and Paris. Unlike most movies like this, which make do with stock establishing shots, then faking the locations - Andy and his wife Arlene really made their movies in the locations. The only time they diverted from this was Washington - which was faked. But the funny thing is, the stock shots are real footage shot for the movie ! It seems one of their regular crew members was headed to DC to visit family, so clever Andy sent the camera rig with him, and the guy got Malibu Bay a couple of nice, new, crisp establishing shots that completely match the rest of the movie they're put into !

The website CRAVE ONLINE has The Series Project : L.E.T.H.A.L. Ladies which takes a look at all the Andy Sidaris movies inthreeparts and it promises : Professor Witney Seibold introduces you to the greatest action series you've never heard of, with babes, bazookas and blow - up dolls.

I´ve taken the liberty of borrowing this part form the intro :Andy Sidaris, who wrote and directed all but the 8th and 9th films in the series, was a veteran of television, and was perhaps best known for his work on The Wide World of Sports and Monday Night Football. He has been credited in several places for having pioneered what he called the “ Honey Shot ”, which was a gametime reaction shot of the buxom cheerleaders.

Sidaris, with his wife Arlene, decided in the early 1980s to move into dramatic features, and his entire career was dedicated to a single series of films. This series features all the best and cheapest special effects. Sidaris hired Playboy Playmates and Penthouse Pets as the lead actresses, and notoriously had them strip, rather frequently, for no good reason. He went to exotic locales, hired expensive vehicles, and got bodybuilders and martial artists to pilot them. Squibs and explosions followed. And many, many softcore sex scenes with some of the best bodies ever seen.

And while his scripts were always pretty shoddy ( for b film cheapies these movies have surprisingly complicated stories ), and the acting was commonly pretty bad ( bodybuilders and Playboy Playmates aren't known for their thespian virtuosity ), there was a straightforward purity to Sidaris' b movie sensibility. He seemed to have a very sensible and simple filmmaking philosophy: The cheapest special effects are, after all, bare breasts. Throw some bare breasts into a passable action plot of spies and double - crosses, shoot on the beaches of Hawaii, and blow up a few vehicles, and, hey, you've got a pattern that will have audience appeal for time immemorial. He even included an original song in each film, kind of running a parallel to James Bond. His formula lasted through 12 films over 13 years, and he probably would have made more in the series, had he not tragically passed from cancer in 2007.

But the Andy Sidaris movies did not only have playmates, penthouse pets and actors from b movies and tv soaps. For every Erik Estrada there was a Danny Trejo or Pat Morita who starred in DO OR DIE. You know that the reason why he accepted the role were the many happy ending massages by sexbomb Lady Silk that Andy Sidaris wisely wrote into the script.

You know that Andy Sidaris made things up on the go and changed things whenever the script needed it because the role of Kane played by Pat Morita was later played by a caucasian actor. I´m not entirely sure what the reason for this was, if there was any explanation given like Pat Morita had not been the real Kane but the new Kane is descended from Nazis and his german name was Rohr, which could be loosely translated as Kane.

These inconsistencies are the topic of Playboy Playmates, Penthouse Pets, and Parallel Realities: The Comic Book World of Cult Filmmaker Andy Sidaris which analyses the different parallel worlds of the Andy Sidaris movies that have similarities with the retconned DC universe after CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS. It has many interesting insights about the movies :

There is no doubt that the films of Andy Sidaris appeal to a specific audience, one that very probably included Sidaris himself. The world he created was one full of spies that were, for all intents and purposes, the cheerleaders and football players everyone knew in high school who had gone on to live the exact same kind of life on the stage of international intrigue. Like comic books, everyone who appeared in a Sidaris film was idealized or larger than life, and like vintage adventure comics, the line between good and evil is always very clear. Even with their reputation as low-budget exploitation, Sidaris’s films feature hardly any profanity at all and each one of them prominently features strong female characters who can more than take care of themselves. The tone of the films never becomes too dark, despite the bright splashes of blood that punctuate every gunfight.

In many ways, the films of Andy Sidaris are very similar to comic books, but not the contemporary books that were being released at the time of his most popular films, when many superhero books were trying to tackle “ real world ” problems and recasting their characters in darker, more violent stories in a desperate attempt at remaining relevant. The simple good vs. evil storylines, the beautiful people, the ass-kicking women and sophisticated villains, and yes, even the complete disregard for any kind of standard continuity seem more an echo of Silver Age comics of the 50s. Sidaris refers to the films as “ family films ” in an interview that appears as a film introduction in the Girls, Guns & G-Strings collection, and while he’s obviously joking, the straightforward nature of his stories and the lack of any significant moral ambiguity ( along with the curious lack of profanity ) make the comment much closer to truth than even he may have realized. While the quality of the films took a noticeable turn for the worse in the later installments, it is inarguable that Sidaris always strove to deliver pure entertainment, and in the process he may have inadvertently given “ comic book ” b - movies a good name. Or, at least, a better one than they had before Hard Ticket to Hawaii

I can´t mention DO OR DIE without mentioning the best scene featuring the hot Ava Cadell ( whom I therefore had to give a post of her own you might want to check out ). In later Andy Sidaris movies she had the part of Ava ( coincidence ? ) who was head DJ and president of local Hawaiian radio station KSXY in HARD HUNTED. 24 hours a day, she broadcasts sleazy, porny F&S music, giving out some sex advice and moaning in orgasmic ecstasy. Her sexy speeches also serve as code to spies in the field.

Then there’s the office assistant, played by Becky Mullen ( it would take too long to go into detail on her so check out her solo post ), who fetches coffee in a skin tight red leather bikini. And if dressing for work nearly naked wasn’t enough, then hold on, because later in the film they actually do work naked, well, almost naked. Ava proceeds to do her radio show from a hot tub topless alongside her by then topless office assistant. It seems that Ava works from wherever she wants wearing whatever she wants. Seriously, if this was a real radio station it had to be on tv !

By the way - talk about playing what you know - DOCTOR Ava Cadell ( you can call her The Sex Doctor ) is America’s number 1 sexpert as a Clinical Sexologist, AASECT Certified Sex Counselor, Hypnotherapist, Founder of LoveologyUniversity.com and President of the American College of Sexologists International. Dr. Ava Cadell’s brand is sexual empowerment as an the author of 8 books and the monthly Sex Advice Columnist for Penthouse Magazine for whom she has created a series of online courses and videos entitled Sex Academy. Dr. Ava is also a sought after media therapist, and global speaker; her mission is to empower people to overcome sexual guilt & shame so they can enjoy the benefits of healthy, sexual relationships. She also has a radio show called SEX DRIVE !

So Ava plays the contract killer in DO OR DIE and she looks spectacular !

But the best part with her is not when she takes her clothes off ( I had to omit the part with nippleage so it´s SFW ) but when she puts them on. I have never seen a woman putting on leather pants the way Ava does.

Especially the way she pulls the zipper up is just soooooo provocative !

A few years back I bought the Andy Sidaris DVD box via amazon because it was offered at a bargain price and I am glad I did it because it´s not available through amazon anymore or if it´s going for a really extreme price. The only downside is that the box does not include ENEMY GOLD and THE DALLAS CONNECTION since they were done by his son who sadly did not follow in his father´s footsteps as try - outs. The last one is also known under the title DEADWORKS and features another two sexbombs who were in a few of Andy Sidaris´ later movies : Julie Strain and Julie K Smith a.k.a. Julie & Julie the double rack attack. There are two great scenes ( among others ) in DALLAS CONNECTION : in the first one Julie Strain is tying a guy to a chair and stripping to make him ultrahorny.

Julie Strain debuted in FIT TO KILL, where she played the evil Blue Steele, then she portrayed bad girl Jewel Panther in ENEMY GOLD and bad girl Black Widow in THE DALLAS CONNECTION.  Since she wanted a recurring role in DAY OF THE WARRIOR and RETURN TO SAVAGE BEACH she became federal agent Willow Black. And for those that moan about me bringing up Julie Strain in a comic blog I want to mention that this Penthouse Pet of the Year 1993 not only starred in over 100 movies and was the inspiration for the main character in the animation movie HEAVY METAL 2000, she was also married to Kevin Eastman who created the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES with Peter Laird and was Editor in Chief of HEAVY METAL.

Of course other hot playmates in this movie are leggy Wendy Hamilton and real life Power Girl Julie K. Smith who also does her Andy Sidaris debut here and who also starred in subsequent Lethal Ladies movies. Daimn, for a woman with her slender frame she really has an incredibly big bosom !

Together with Andy Sidaris veteran Julie Strain new girl Julie K. Smith becomes the new mainstay of the Andy Sidaris movies after the combo of Dona Speir and Roberta Vasquez had their last Hurrah in FIT TO KILL .

In any case, things were in good hands with new leading lady Julie.

And that´s all for Today´s post. You can read more about the Andy Sidaris movies through the two posts I have linked to and I have also included some links to watch some of his movies on YouTube. Normally I´m a bit hesitant to include stuff that´s not safe for work - like the trailers I have included in the post - but you can find all of his movies on YouTube.

Now before we come to the entertainment section I have to make a correction in regards to last year´s Dona Speir post. In it I wrote that Today is Alejandro Jodorowski´s birthday but it seems that imdb is the only site which has his birthday on the 7th of February while the rest of the consensus is that it´s on the 17th of February. Since I don´t know Alejandro personally I can´t be one hundred percent sure but I´m going with the majority here so I will not include a video about him. If I manage to do a post on the 17th this month I might do so or maybe I can even do a post on him. There is still more about his collaboration with Moebius on The Incal I want to talk about. You know how it is on this blog, a lot gets post poned but nothing is forgotten so sooner or later I get around to it.

That said however I do want to include a video for the late great Jean Giraud a.k.a. Moebius since it will probably take me some time to do the next post about the Incal and I have bookmarked a few videos about him.

One reason for making re - posts is that I can switch up the birthdays I mention which means sooner or later I will have covered them all. And then I can decide which videos I will include. So last year I had a video with Buster Crabbe and this year it´s James Spader´s turn who celebrates his 57th birthday. I also think that THE BLACKLIST fits in pretty well with Today´s overarching theme of secret agents and spies. I have to admit I didn´t know they had started with the fourt season so I will have to binge watch it to catch up to the current episodes. And don´t ask me where german tv is, they are so far behind that it´s not even funny anymore.

Another birthday I didn´t cover last year is Charles Dickens, whose books have been adapted so many times that it is difficult to choose only one.

There is a version of THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER with Raquel Welch but I could not find a good version on YouTube and I also remembered that the story was written by Mark Twain. Also, I am not very fond of what I call Charles Dickens´ drama porn which are stories that are just about how awful things used to be in dem olden days like OLIVER TWIST. I mean I have seen the musical and all that but there is nothing gained by moaning about how bad things were. There is however A CHRISTMAS CAROL which is probably his best story and a fairly positive one too. The downside is that it is pretty popular and seeing that there are like a gazillion versions from The Muppets to one with Patrick Stewart and even  Doctor Who you should not be surprised to see some of the animated adaptions over the course of the next weeks. For Today I went with one I am not familiar with even if it´s an old - I really mean old - companion from my childhood.

Since we are on the subject of Andy Sidaris´ version of James Bond I also have to mention the spanish comic version of him, ANACLETO : AGENTE SECRETO by the great Vazquez who also is the author of such classic series like LAS HERMANAS GILDA, LA ABUELITA PAZ and LA FAMILIA CEBOLLETA.

There has been a movie of ANACLETO : AGENTE SECRETO ( called SPY TIME in America, I shudder to think with which horrible title the germans will come up ) and last year I posted the trailer in the hopes there would be a german version soon so I could order it from amazon. Well, that didn´t happen so for all who still haven´t seen it here is the best spy movie ever.

I want to end this post with another video with cosplayer Yaya Han who would be equally qualified to star as a sexy astronaut ( or alien ) in a sci fi movie or doing a striptease as a lethal lady in an Andy Sidaris movie. Or as fate would have it as another overdeveloped oriental opponent from the comic book realm. Just the other day I managed to find all the issues from Comico´s much sought after four issue full color run of THE TROUBLE WITH GIRLS by Will Jacobs and Gerard Jones and if Yaya wasn´t born to portray asian nympho and main antagonist Lily Lee a.k.a. the Lizard Lady I don´t know. Especially when the always scantily clad oversexed nympho with the XXL chest is inked by Chuck Austen who pioneered erotic comics with series starring obscenely oversized sexbombs like STRIPS and HARDBALL ( I wish I could post a better example than a cover but it is impossible to find any interior pages - much less in color - from the book ). With her perfectly shaped overripe melons Yaya looks like she stepped right out of the comic ready to break Lester Girls in with her asian sex techniques.

If you have never heard of the series, THE TROUBLE WITH GIRLS is about Lester Girls, a poor guy who suffers from the same curse as his father before him, namely that he is drawn into a life of dangerous adventures, incredible wealth and mindblowing sex with the most beautiful women.

That does not really sound like a curse you might say. Well, it is for Lester Girls, since he soon becomes bored with this life and he would trade it all in for a quiet, boring life in his hometown Dullsville where he can lead a boring life and finally finish reading TOM SAWYER. The only problem is that there are hordes of unsatisfied women, vengeful enemies and shady spies and they all want a piece of Lester. Really, if it wasn´t for Lester´s indian brother Apache Dick who selflessly relieves him of half the riches, naked women and adventure life would be completely unbearable. And if that doesn´t tell you what a crazy and funny comic series this is nothing will.

In this book nothing is sacred, everything is ripe to be sacrificed for a good laugh and the creators are constantly putting the mirror to the incomprehensible workings of our modern, consume - oriented society.

The series by Comico is the second volume and although it´s only four issues it totally delivers on the sex and exploitation part. With issue five the series returned to black and white and publisher Eternity but I could only find the issues up to number nine anyway. There was another series called THE TROUBLE WITH GIRLS from Marvel´s Epic imprint in the nineties by Will Jacobs and Gerard Jones with pencils by Brett Blevins but that was just a watered down, censored version that never managed to achieve a fraction of the originals brilliance. Alas unlike the original TROUBLE WITH GIRLS series THE NIGHT OF THE LIZARD is easily found in trade paperback.

Since none of the other videos have music I chose this one which I think is the last one with Yaya in her Chun Li costume I haven´t already posted.

Speaking about Yaya Han as Chun Li and seeing as the video above is titled as fan service, I haven´t gotten around to start my series on comic covers, magazine covers or pin ups I´d like Yaya to re - enact ( which is probably for the best since these post would most definitely be NSFW and go into the pervy creep / full blown porn addict direction - not unlike most of the times I mention Yaya Han ) but I dream of her one day doing the bonerinducing shower scene from the animated STREET FIGHTER movie.

I know it will probably never happen especially since Yaya would object to such an explicit scene and it is nearly impossible to find a body double for a small hasian with such big hooters. Her outstanding omnipresent openly oversized operated olympic oral orgasm guaranteeing opai are unreal. I bet her boytoy is the luckiest guy on the planet since he is the only one who gets to experience the mega busty living blow up sex doll Yaya going full frontal on his mega rod with her giant 40D double airbags all soaped up.

As improbable as it is that Yaya will ever play the scene here is the full uncensored video. I am pretty sure I already posted it although to tell the truth I am not sure if it was the complete scene. In any case it´s better to be safe than sorry and it will probably not stay long on YouTube anyway.

Webslinging Wednesday with Ron Frenz - 2

Well, technically speaking I´m not writing this on a Wednesday but seeing as there is no special post that acquires my attention Today and I already prepared all the necessary material for this and the next THORSDAY post I hope my followers can overlook this slight bending of the posting rules.

Also I didn´t want to let my readers hang longer than necessary as our last WEBSLINGING WEDNESDAY ended on a cliffhanger. I always hate it when that happens although it´s one of the things that used to make reading comics interesting and I have always appreciated a good cliffhanger at the end of a comic ( I am not sure if they still do that in mainstream comics and when I say mainstream I mean the big two ). So what happened ?

As you can see instead of the intended THORSDAY post the last one was a re - post of Dona Speir´s birthday post which was not planned. Initially I was just going to mention it in the video section with a link to the old post, then I thought it wouldn´t hurt to give the old post the once over and add a few new things and before you know it two days are gone, as usual I went totally overboard and the post got longer than the list of hot babes I want to get jiggy with before I croak. And of course then all the other distracting life stuff happened like the refrigerator quitting, having to order a new one and catching up with season 4 of THE BLACKLIST. But now we are back with the next installment with the adventures of May " Mayday " Parker from AMAZING SPIDER - MAN FAMILY 6. As you may have noticed ( no pun intended ) the story has only 16 pages since it appeared in an anthology book which was only one of a neverending attempts by Marvel to eat the cake and keep it at the same time but since there might be comic readers who were not around in January 2009 and so could not read about it in my post I want to explain it a bit. Well, as best as I can since I only experienced this story from the consumers side and have no insight to the corporate decisions. But it seems there are not only books that are destined to fail but also some that are designed to do just that.

Sometimes it´s to keep the copyright to a character or a name, sometimes it is a cop out to fulfill contractual obligations and sometimes it is the publisher´s way of giving the readers what they want or clamor for and also proving them wrong at the same time using this emergency back door.

Like when readers say " We want more of character x. " or " We want to see more this kind of stories. " and the publishers have no interest in doing these kind of comics. So at first the publishers will just proclaim that these kind of books would never sell and that the readers who demand these kind of comics are just a vocal minority. So let´s say the readers keep demanding these books but the publishers don´t want to make these books and want to sell other books. Now if they keep denying their readers they will look like the bad guys ( which trust me, they are ) but what´s even worse, they might loose those readers who will go to the competition and find out that their books are much better. So the comic company will try to keep the readers by giving them what they want - at least for a while - but also sabotage their own books so they can cancel them and then sell what they wanted to sell the readers in the first place.

Any comic publisher spokesperson will tell you that comic companies would never sabotage their own books but the truth is they constantly do this and it pays off in the end. So how do they do it ? That´s easy. Either they assemble a team right from the start that they know will not have much success - the creative team or the super hero team as this works on both levels - or they put it in a format that readers will not support or they create a book that seems to be what readers want on the surface but when you look at it in detail it is the opposite or things like that.

And then when the comic has to be canceled the comic book company is not the bad guy but the one who´s supportive of it´s readers even when they are ungrateful and they say " We told you that nobody wants these kind of books and we were right so trust us and please buy title hero x. "

Comic companies always try to present things in a way that makes them look innovative and political correct and with lots of diversity. Which is not a natural phenomenon. Despite what social justice warriors might want you to believe life has no quotas and you will almost never see an adequate representation of the populace in any given group. Sometimes it´s even impossible. I am no expert but I would think that in your average clan gathering there are very few if not zero members of afro - american, asian, mexican descend or other ethnic groups that are not aryan white caucasian. Also by nature there might be a high representation of female comic readers at a convention when the actual number of women reading comics is much lower. But for some reason comic book companies ( and let´s face it, the tv and movie industry do this too ) go " We gotta have a black member, a female member, a homosexual member, a member with an illness or a handicap and aliens are also always a seller. So how about a black blind lesbian alien ? That should cover all our bases. " and all the news media people are telling us how cool this new character is and that anybody who doesn´t like her ( which means every reader who sees it for the cheap sales gimmick it is ) is a racist, a chauvinist, a xenophobe and totally unamerican ( which 7,159,478,320 people around the world are ).

Not american I mean. I don´t know about the other stuff. Anyway, one of the reason why these kind of things always work is that most of the people involved have no real knowledge of the things they talk about - in this case comics - or knows anything about the history of characters or the overall history of comics. Readers have no memory and most of the readers who are involved in these battles are new readers since the old ones have already left for one and are the only ones who remember that this particular idea has already been tried once with very little success.

Now in the case of Spider - Girl I have no idea which particular bee went up Marvel´s bonnet that they were so determined to obliterate her.

Maybe they were pissed off that it made the rest of the spider - book look like crap which was not difficult since they were, maybe they didn´t want female protagonists to succeed despite what they always proclaim, maybe Tom DeFalco had too many enemies, maybe it didn´t fit in with the rest of the bad written, mega grim and gritty pseudo realistic depressing bad fast food comics they were churning out. Whatever the reason Marvel tried its best to squash it again and again by not supporting the book in any way, shape or form, canceling it multiple times, re - starting with a new number 1 after the 100th issue, changing the creative team and then putting them into an anthology title. And as even that didn´t work because of the vocal AND ACTIVE ( this is the most important part if you want to save a title from cancellation ) fan community they put it in an anthology title ( said SPIDER - MAN FAMILY ), then turned it into a digital only comic followed by another stint as part of an anthology title only to end in the short lived ( only four measly issues ) SPECTACULAR SPIDER - GIRL title and SPIDER - GIRL : THE END ! the last Spider - Girl story Tom DeFalco wrote for Marvel.

So that´s - in a very short and abbreviated from - the reason why our WEBSLINGING WEDNESDAY Spider - Girl stories only have 16 pages. Before we finally start with Today´s episode I want to mention that the cover at the top of the post is from an issue of AMAZING SPIDER - GIRL since all the covers from AMAZING SPIDER - MAN FAMILY have Spider - Man on it and as much as I used the guy ( man, nowadays it´s like I don´t even know the dude ) I am not starting a post about Spider - Girl with le Spider - Man.

Not after the way Marvel is constantly trying to shove new Spider - Girls down our throats all the while ignoring the one true Spider - Girl that is still out there. That´s right. Even if you accept that the Spider - Girl from the MC2 universe is dead the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane that was supplanted with a dead infant should still be out there. Call me an optimist but I think she would even survive the BRAND NEW DAY ( since that was only supposed to cancel out their marriage not them being together ) and SECRET WARS train wrecks. By the way, forget about an summary of what has happened before. I´m not going to recap 150 issues of continuity in this already too long introduction so don´t even ask.

Well, it looks like May is in some trouble as this is an old sparring partner of her Dad and for those of you who read SPECTACULAR SPIDER - MAN back in the day this brings back some ugly feelings of deja vue. And since I know there are a lot of readers out there who are particular fans of that section here is the cover that was the inspiration for the last splash page.

It was of course drawn by the fantastic Sal Buscema - who is the inker of SPECTACULAR SPIDER - GIRL - and used for the cover of the just recently published TOMBSTONE trade paperback that reprints issues 137 to 150 from Sal´s epic run on SPECTACULAR SPIDER - MAN. I just ordered it a few days ago and in my opinion it´s one of the most underrated run of the spider - books. I only hope Marvel continues with this and does not put it all in the Epic Collections. Because that would take a lot of money to collect them.

Speaking of money, since there are no links for this post we can start with the birthdays right away and our first is german Busenwunder Bettie Ballhaus who turns 39. As my picture archive is sorely depleted from the last clean up campaign I have no picture of Betty and any GIFs I could find online would not be safe to post anyway but I do have a video with her.

Not what you are thinking, this one is actually funny. Busty Bettie was the host for one of these call in shows on german tv a few years back ( I don´t know if she still does it as I don´t watch that much german tv when my Mom is in Germany ) where you can - in theory - win cash prizes. If you were wondering what Betty´s connection to money was. The tv station actually started out as a sports channel but I don´t know if they still show sports. I used to watch it on a daily basis back when the mother of all big breasted call in show hosts, Daniela Elger used to be on regularly. Anyway, I don´t know how difficult it is to get through to the host on these shows but one of the callers was not so much interested in resolving the quiz or winning the dough but rather in seeing Bettie´s oversized money makers.

Today Seth Green is mostly known for his voice acting of Rick Jones or Rocket Raccon on Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Howard the Duck on Ultimate Spider - Man and a gazillion other shows like Family Guy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Phineas and Ferb or Robot Chicken but I first saw him as the likeable werewolf on the tv series Buffy. Which was a remake of a really awful movie starring Kristy Swanson ( hence the banner ). He celebrates his 43rd birthday so here is an episode of my favorite late night show that also features the saucy Jenna Louise Coleman ( Craig´s words ).

And yes, I explicitly picked this jam piece to have a connection between everybody´s favorite slayer to Bruce Timm who turns 56. I thought I had done a post on him last year but it seems I only prepared the stuff and never got around to actually do it. Maybe next year. One of the things that Bruce always pulls off flawlessly is distilling each character to the quintessential iconic basics therefore showing what makes him so unique.

John Grisham celebrates his 62nd birthday who has provided the source material for what I call the article movies : THE Firm, THE Client, THE Pelican Brief, even one of his lesser known movies with natural born stripper JaMILF Lee Curtis ( I definitely wrote a post on her which I re- posted last year ) has the article in it - Christmas with THE Kranks

Speaking of hot Hollywood MILFs, Mary Steenburgen turns 64 who is best known for giving Dr. Emmett Brown the hots in Back To The Future III.

It is kind of weird to be living in the year that was the future in part 2 of the mega successful trilogy but one of the better aspects is that it has brought back a lot of attention to Back To The Future. Now on one side I wish there was a part four because come on, we´re due for another. Man, this was way before timey wimey was an actual thing. But would they be able to recreate the perfect storm or would this be like the bad Star Wars movies before The Force Awakens and Rogue One - A Star Wars Story ?

Our Dearly Departed section starts with Jack Lemon and a correction. In my post in honor of Mike Mignola´s 56th birthday I wrote that as a little boy I was most impressed by the scene in The Great Race Around The World where Natalie Wood tries to escape in her underwear. Now I recently found the time to re - watch the classic and while Miss Wood´s charms have not lost any of its mesmerizing qualities I totally blanked on the fact that she is in her under wear for most of the remaining movie.

Believe it or not, there are still two movies with Jack Lemon on my to watch list, the first one being Some Like It Hot. Yes, I know that it´s a classic and it has the quintessential blonde sexbomb Marilyn Monroe in it but I never understood why men wearing women´s clothes are supposed to be funny. The other movie is The Apartment because no matter how often it is on tv and how often I watch it I always miss the beginning.

A Jack Lemon film with Shirley MacLaine I have watched numerous times is Irma La Douce although I only recently found out that cult siren Tura Satana who appeared in such cult movies like The Doll Squad and Russ Meyer´s Faster Pussycat ! Kill ! Kill ! had her first role in it as Suzette Wong. I also wrote a post on Tura Satana of which I did a pimped version .

Another birthday shoutout goes to Bill Finger who finally starts to get recognition for his contributions to the Batman mythos. I don´t want to get into too much detail since there is a plethora of comic book creators and afficionados on the internet who are more qualified to talk about that but I think Ty Templeton´s strip encapsulates the whole thing pretty well.

And we return one more time to Back To The Future, this time in it´s animated from. I had no idea this existed but thankfully there are always guys n the internet who can review such things. To give you a hint about who our last birthday candidate is here are three clues : he has written some of the best known science fiction stories of all times which have been adapted into countless movies and tv series, he is one of Doc Brown´s big idols and the cartoon show revolves mainly about Doc Brown´s family including his two sons which were named after him.

Before I continue binge watching the fourth season of The Blacklist I want to add another cartoon video since the previous one just has little bits from a show and not one full episode. Constant Payne apparently was the pilot for a show that was planned for development at Nickelodeon but because of a scene that was too similar to 9 - 11 it never got picked up. I don´t know but could they not have simply changed it ? I have seen a lot of pilot episodes now and sometimes they change everything or even reshoot the pilot from scratch. Maybe this deserves another chance.

Chauvinism is the same as, rather than the opposite of feminism. If feminism was really about equal treatment of the genders, it would be called humanism or equalism. There is no opposite to feminism in existence. That´s part of the problem.

Unexpected Thorsday with Rich Buckler !

Like I mentioned in Yesterday´s WEBSLINGING WEDNESDAY post I know that technically speaking it is way past Thursday but there is nothing else important to do Today so since I have already prepared all the necessary pictures I might as well go ahead and do the post, late as it may be now.

The truth is I felt a bit bad that I didn´t do a post about Rich Buckler´s Marvel work on his birthday but it´s only possible for me to do 2 posts on one day under special circumstances so I had to leave it for another day.

But when I was just about to prepare the first part of Erik Larsen´s THOR issues for Marvel I thought : " Why not postpone it for another week and do a post with one of Rich Buckler´s THOR issues instead ? It´s not going to make that much of a difference to the Erik Larsen posts and I get to pay homage to Rich Buckler´s THOR issues. " Okay, as I mentioned in my birthday post on him Rich appears in a lot of series as he had the role of fireman at Marvel, where he would be called in when a regular artist was leaving a book and they did not have a replacement yet or they needed somebody to fill in for a few issues to give the regular artist time to catch up. I don´t know which was the case in THOR but the issues he did were 227 to 230. I picked issue 228 for this post because you have Hercules and Firelord in it but mainly because of a fantastic splash page with Galaktus. Only after I had already selected all the pages I found out that Rich Buckler was not the only artist in this issue, he had some help from Arvell Jones and Keith Pollard ( who did a long stint on THOR later on that includes an adaption of the Nibelungen tale and the reason why Thor is bound to the planet Earth - which a lot of subsequent writers just outright ignored ).

That was a big dilemma since it would mean making a post about Rich Buckler´s THOR issues with an issue that also has other artists involved.

And the idea here was to showcase Rich Buckler. So I went over the other issues again but still I like issue 228 the best. So I decided to stick to my initial decision and in a way isn´t that the best way to show how things were done at Marvel ? If push came to shove they just brought in more artists to finish the issue on time. I wonder when that concept got lost and it became acceptable for issues to be up to one year late as long as a certain artist did it ? I´m not saying it became acceptable as long as the art was good because in some cases the art wasn´t even that good to begin with. In any case, before we get to the actual issue I guess I have to say something about the swiping Rich Buckler has been accused of. Which for me is not so much of an issue. Because all artists do it in some way if you think about it, the only difference is to which extent. Sometimes it even happens involuntarily and one of the sections of this blog is the DEJA VUE add ons because I´m a big fan of cover homages - which in a way could also be seen as swiping. I think the difference between swiping and an homage is the intention behind it and how good you can pull it off.

As for using swiping in regular comic work I don´t remember who said it, I think it was one of the comic veterans and his take on this was that when he was making comics you had to be fast if you wanted to earn enough money to eat. So if you could use a pose somebody else drew you did it, if you could use a panel somebody else drew you did it and if you could use an entire page all the better. I guess it´s all a question of making comics as a job versus making comics as art. There is the question of intellectual property involved - of course - but I guess in the old days that was not so important because it was all work for hire anyway so the ultimate owner of it was the publishing company. Okay, what´s my point in this ? I guess that I don´t care so much about the fact if Rich Buckler swiped from other artists as long as he manages to entertain me. Also bear in mind that he often came in at the eleventh hour so he might not have had the luxury to work on pages for days. With that said we are really coming to THOR 228.

A Happy Valentine´s Day with Paul Ryan

$

Even when it is not Friday I am late with the Flash posts but I hope it is not too late to wish all my faithful readers a happy Valentine´s Day.

Last year I did a special Valentine´s Day post about the worst break up in comic history EVER and this year I wanted to continue the tradition. But I could not find any information as it seems nobody has ever compiled such a list. All I could find were comics about break ups or comics about life after a break up or comics which are supposed to help you get over a break up. But no posts about break ups in comics. Either it´s something you don´t write about or there are no other bad break ups in comics ( who believes that ? ) or it is something that is ignored on Valentine´s Day.

I have to say Valentine´s Day was always a bit suspect for me especially the way little kids were forced into a popularity contest in the PEANUTS cartoons that is sure to make them spend a fortune for therapy later on. I mean, it must have been a sick individual that one day decided : " Hey, let´s have little kids write each other Valentine Day cards so that the kids who are not popular anyway can feel even worse. " So in this spirit of vain self adulation I thought about doing a post about my top Valentine honeys but lately the babe factor has reach a dangerous level and since these kind of posts can get out of hand very quickly I decided against it in the end.

So I could not think of any other bad comic book break ups from the top of my hat and since I couldn´t find anything online there was only one other direction : a post that fits in with the theme of Valentine´s Day.

Originally the plan had been to post FLASH 129 as a prelude to Valentine´s Day and then do something else Today but since I didn´t get to do my usual FLASH FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN post I am hijacking the whole thing and turning it into a Valentine´s Day Special. Now this is the third part of the Hell To Pay story line and if you have missed part one and part two of this you might want to go back and read those first. Like I promised in my last post this issue shows how a comic master like Mark Waid could have resolved the whole BRAND NEW DAY mess in five minutes although you have to keep in mind that Joe Quesada started with the premise of completely destroying the Peter Parker Mary Jane relationship. So he set Spider - Man up to fail from the beginning. Which could have been the topic of Today´s post now that I think about it. On the other hand I have always preferred to be positive and light a fire than to curse the darkness.

So instead of Joe Quesada´s bad imitation of the story here is how things SHOULD be done in comics. The hero gets to kiss the girl at the end. Yay !

By the way, now I know where DC front man Dan Didio got the inspiration that started the whole NEW 52 fiasko. Is anybody surprised at this point ?

Since the ever - growing list of links threatens to become overwhelming and unmanageable I have decided to include some even if they don´t have much to do with Today´s topic. Now the first ones do tie in even if it may be a bit late ( it´s from 2014 ) for this Best Art Ever gallery on COMICS ALLIANCE that´s all about Valentine´s Day. Continuing SCANS DAILY post on The Many Weddings of Dick Grayson is also two years old and I almost forgot The Cloud With The Lethal Lining from Adventure Comics 466 on DIVERSIONS OF THE GROOVY KIND written by Cary Bates pencils by Mike Nasser a.k.a. Michael Netzer and inks by Vince Coletta in all the posts.

A few days ago I thought about buying DC´s Superman : A Celebration Of 75 Years but thankfully I read Chris Sims´ post What DC´s SUPERMAN : A CELEBRATION OF 75 YEARS Says About How They See Their Flagship Character on COMICS ALLIANCE . I already have the Flash book and as I´ve written in an earlier post in my opinion Wally West gets the short end of the stick. It seems now that Barry Allen is the Flash again - in comic books and on tv - they want to forget it ever happened. That´s the only logical explanation why from over 200 issues of Wally West as the Flash they only picked four and not even four of the best ones. They picked his first appearance as the new Flash, one issue from the Rogues War, they DID pick one issue by Wike Wieringo but it´s the zero issue from ZERO HOUR which is not canon and a random annual that looks boring. There were other issues they could have picked that would have been better suited.

Judging from the amazon customer reviews the other books from this line don´t make much more sense either and it really bears the question under which criteria they picked the issues. It´s definitely not the best stories - maybe because they want to sell a line of Best of Flash books somewhere down the line - but also not stories that have not been reprinted before.

Well, according to Mr. Sims it is even worse with the Superman book as they seem to deliberately have picked stories that do not show us the Superman everybody knows and loves ( the one who always triumphs without going the easy way because he not only is an optimist but really smart ) and instead promote the new Emo Superman that seems to be all the rage Today in comics and movies who has to stoop to the level of the villains he fights, who seems to be insignificant and inconsequential in every story, a superhero wimp who throws in the towel whenever he is confronted with real world problems and who is sad and helpless most of the time. As I said, I´m thankful that I found Chris Sims review because that is not my Superman and it´s only one of the reasons why I don´t read any of the actual Superman books. And there is like a plethora out there.

Speaking of the current abysmal movie version of Superman, Jason Iaonne at CRACKED has 6 Specific Reasons Why Superhero Movies Ruined Comic Books, Jim Avery knows 4 Signs DC Comics Has No Clue How To Make Superhero Movies , there is Luke McKinney´s article on 5 Superheroes Who Should´ve Gotten Movies Before Ant - Man which for some reason does not include Terry Hooper´s favorite, Gilgamesh and David Christopher Bell has found 6 Bizarre Signs That Hollywood Is Stuck In A 10 - Year Loop .

Last but not least, for those who think this post has not enough hot babes check out some GIFs of 41E hardbody Abigail Ratchford washing a mini in a bikini on THE JOBLO NETWORK and speaking of bikini babes, GIF PLANET has some GIFs and bikini pictures of the sensational Kate Upton. LISTAL has a nice Jessica Lucas GIF collection, KING MAG has the 5 hottest Christina Milian GIFs ever - which are still not as hot as this giant - sized HQ GIF of Rihanna´s almost - wardrobe malfunction on SNL, apparently you have to re - evaluate your life if these 11 GIFs of Katy Perry don´t arouse you but for the best body in all of showbiz go to the JANET GIFS tumblr .

Since we only have one other birthday in our entertainment block Today I want to mention horror movie cult siren Hazel Court, whose anniversary was on the 10th this month about whom I wrote a long post last year. Since there is nothing I can add to improve the post at the moment I did not do a re - post but all who´ve missed it might want to follow this link .

As somebody who experiences this special day from scripture rather than from real life experience I am not sure to which extent horror movies fit the occassion but since I posted The Masque Of The Red Death last year here is another one with Hazel Court, Doctor Blood´s Coffin from 1961.

One reason why I keep doing the birthday section is that there are so many things that interest me that a lot of them fall to the wayside and it´s only for the post research that I remember Roger Langridge´s 50th birthday. I pimped his Thor and Snarked books but after that I somehow lost track. Well, it seems like he has been busy as the writer of Dynamite´s Mandrake The Magician and a new Betty Boop series. He also did a 4 part mini series for Boom ! called Abigail And The Snowman I knew nothing of.

As it has been quite a while since the book came out I could not find anything about it on YouTube but here is the intro to a show called The Slammer. I think this is a british show ? Maybe Terry Hooper can explain.

Even though I decided against doing a Top 10 list of my Valentine´s Day dream dates I had to include real life Power Girl Erika Andersch whom guys from my generation may recognize as Diamond, the blonde double D sexbomb of german descent with the killer body on American Gladiators.

Not only to continue the tradition of including Power Girl in the FLASH posts ( Erika Andersch was my first reader request in my SEARCH FOR POWER GIRL series ) but also because so far I could not put the video on the blog. As usual I had started doing the GIFs myself but then something else came up and I had to postpone it again and again which Diamond obviously didn´t like very much. That is one reason why she was so popular with the male viewers : her XXL - sized, round ... crazy eyes.

With her overdeveloped chest which she displayed freely thanks to her tight uniform´s generous cleavage Diamond would have been perfect as Power Girl and she oozed more sex appeal doing something as simple as climbing up a ladder than other women have being completely naked.

And I´m sure her warm up exercises shot an entire generation of teenagers through puberty prematurely. Daimn, I wish I could have had a physio therapist with her build during my rehab. I would have even paid out of my own pocket for a few tantric oral lingam massage sessions.

Coming back from my Nuru fantasies to Diamond, the best part of the show was when she was in Hang Tough where you could see every inch of her body. She always did it so effortlessly and gracefully and I bet she could have given Spider - Man a few pointers about web - swinging.

Her opponent, Michelle " Rack Attack " Ramelot ( with a name that sounds like rammed a lot I´m sure she got worse nicknames than this ), also has some nice airbags and I bet a lot of guys dreamed of being in the middle of that sandwich at night while venting their sexual frustration mercilessly pounding their exhausted girlfriend´s / fiancee´s / wife´s / secretary´s / teacher´s / co - ed´s / house maid´s / busty stepsister´s brains out.

There is not a man on the western hemisphere whose loins were not afire and growing rapily when watching Diamond climb all over her opponent while wishing she would rub her body all over him - only to be rudely interrupted when she finally managed to bring the contestant down.

Yes, just when you had reached the point where you were hard enough to cut diamonds ( I may be permitted a small play of words here ) it was all over and with a bit of luck you had managed to record it with your vcr.

God, I feel old. So that all those unfortunate souls who have never experienced Erika Andersch here is the best clip I could find on YouTube. And I don´t expect this to last very long so don´t wait too long with watching it. How goes the saying : Diamond is a man´s best friends.

And no, I´m not implying anything by posting this video right after Erika Andersch but come on, which audition should I pick for a Valentine´s Day post if not the one that has Valentine in the title ? Just listen and enjoy.

We can´t end without a Flash video so here is one from Batman - The Brave And The Bold with 3 Flash Family members, including Jay Garrick.

Thorsday with Erik Larsen part one : Home

Well, after all the delays you probably thought it might never happen but here it is : the first post on Erik Larsen´s THOR issues for Marvel during the Superman with a hammer or in short SuperThor run by Dan Jurgens.

Now for those who were not around at that time, Dan Jurgens is of course best known for creating Booster Gold and his involvement in THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN storyline which by some is hailed as one of the greatest stories of all time while others say it was one of the reasons for the overblown speculator boom with all the foil stamped glow in the dark gimmick covers and the collapse of the comic book market in the 90s.

Having already written one super - powerful being in comics the next step was to write an actual god, even though it was a minor one, in this case Marvel´s version of the god of thunder, Thor. Again, for some readers this was one of the high points of the title while for others - not so much. As a longtime THOR reader I fell in the latter category since I still remembered the War Of The Pantheons storyline which I had enjoyed very much. So another story with another forgotten pantheon invading Asgard - again - taking the gods hostage - again - only to be ultimately defeated only to be never heard of - again - was just another rehashing of old stories to me.

Especially since the War Of The Pantheons story was not the first story in which the Asgardians were pitted against other gods. Also in my opinion it was not very well written. I mean there are a lot of stories in comics that are similar to other stories but if they are at least well written then they have their own merit. And I´m not saying that I don´t like Dan Jurgens´ writing. If that was the case I wouldn´t have been reading the SUPERMAN titles for as long as I did. But unlike what some people might want you to believe super heroes are not interchangeable because even if they have the same powers they are different and don´t behave the same way. Okay, that sound like a lot of malarkey so let´s have an example : Aquaman and Namor. Basically the same hero, the same powers, the same background.

Both the offspring of an air - breather and atlantean royalty, both breathe underwater, both have super human strength on the level of the most powerful being in their universe ( Aquaman - Superman / Namor - Hulk ) and both were for a time rulers of their respective universe´s version of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. But while Aquaman has always been a douche until Geoff Johns revamped him to total badass in the NEW 52 Namor has always been one you don´t mess with. Because he does what he wants, takes no flak from anybody and invades the surface world when he´s got nothing better to do on a Sunday. He either works with Doctor Doom or beats him down depending on what suits his plans and he is somebody that is capable of just anything. He´s Marvel´s version of Don Johnson and he will sleep with your better half - just ask Reed Richards.

Or Flash and Quicksilver. While one is the fastest man alive and - in the case of Wally West who will always be MY Flash - somebody who started out as an obnoxious guy and became one of the nicest, most dependable guys, somebody who started as a sidekick and became a hero in his own rights who even surpassed his mentor the other is a total tool, a complete dick and nutcase whom nobody likes not even nearly as fast as Wally is.

And I could go on and on. The thing is that Dan Jurgens was writing Thor as if he was still writing Superman and what might be in character for Superman might not work for Thor. Because they are not the same guy.

Granted, both are larger than life super heroes who have almost godlike or even godlike power. But while Thor does not really know how it is to be a normal human Superman gets to live something similar as Clark Kent. On the other side Superman has always been looked up to as the living and breathing embodiment of the american way of life and all those values that could be described as decent. In the Marvel universe that role is more closely associated with Captain America ( whom Dan Jurgens wrote after his stint on THOR, but by then it was so obvious that he was using old scripts that were leftover Superman stories that even the comic critics called his Captain America stories Superman with a shield ) not with Thor because Thor is a brash northlander, the god of harvest and lightning and battle who likes to hit things and people with a hammer.

So if Superman would sit in a bar and drink with strangers this would be a very powerful scene because a . ) Superman never drinks and b . ) most definitely not with strangers. If something like this happened it would mean he has sunk very low and is probably feeling very bad. Now as I said Thor is a northlander, viking or whatever equivalent thereof an Asgardian is. Who drink on every occassion they get and they probably have more alcohol than blood in their veins. So to have Thor drinking is not that unnatural. As a member of the Avengers Jarvis had to make sure the fridge was always stoked with enough mead so it is sure to assume Thor was a regular drinker. Not an alcoholic like Tony Stark but he sure kicked a cold one back ever so often. Okay, maybe he would not drink with strangers every day but after a particularly taxing battle to celebrate his victory ?

Why not ? And this is just one of many instances where Thor behaved more than Superman than as Thor under Dan Jurgens´ control. Now no matter what you think of Dan Jurgens´ writing at least he had enough sense to keep Thor as a guy even if he had to give him another secret identity ( after Walter Simonson proved that he really doesn´t need one ) as Jake Olson whom you will see in this and the following two issues.

And while Dan Jurgens used ye olde secret identity schtick to make things easier when he needed a way to bring in additional tension he recognized that the old trope of Thor´s hammer becoming a stick that Donald Blake had to carry around or would loose was too much of a cliche so instead of that Jake just had to strike his fist on the ground to transform into Thor.

One more thing before we get to THOR 26 ( besides the fact that readers of Today´s female THOR may encounter a character they are unfamiliar with : a Jane Foster who makes sense ) for anybody who has not read Dan Jurgens´ THOR and is thinking about getting them : while I am not that much a fan of his writing here it should not stop you from checking out these issues since the artwork by John Romita Jr alone is worth the price of admission. He really knocked it waaaaay out of the ballpark in this one.

By the way, if you are wondering why the Absorbing Man is kidnapping Jane Foster so she can heal Titania instead of trying to exchange her for Thor´s hammer, back then Thor´s hammer had no special healing power.

There are no links for this post because I am too lazy to go through all my bookmarks again after looking for the right videos. Our birthdays are a bit comic book heavy starting with Ron Wilson and that is not because he´s the youngest one but because apparently nobody knows in which year he was born and he´s not telling. Smart move, dude. I think the first I saw of him was the Super Boxers graphic novel back when Marvel first put out graphic novels and was putting a lot of effort into it. He also did a long stint on John Byrne´s The Thing series where he did the historic issue three in which Lockjaw talked for the first time. Seek it out if you want to know what I meant earlier with Quicksilver being a colossal dickhead.

Anyway, some writer later flip - flopped on the story and explained that Lockjaw was not really talking but rather the Inhumans playing a practical joke on Ben Grimm turning all the Inhumans into insensitive dicks. But that always seems to be the case, no matter if it´s the comics or the tv series, somebody always whitewashes the ugly parts of Inhuman society.

I mean, have you ever wondered why the Alpha Primitives have not been on Marvel´s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ? It probably doesn´t go over well doing a recruitment drive. " Oh, those giant machines that keep things going and supply the energy ? We don´t know how they work because we have these ugly, primitive, stupid slaves who take care of them. But do not worry, they are not allowed to come to our part of Attilan into the sun and fresh air. "Just to answer the question why the Inhumans have never sustained a long comic series. Because while they act so enlightened and free spirited they really are a bunch of bigots, hipocrits and genenazis.

Our first on - the - record birthday is british writer Warren Ellis who turns 49. He has done a whole plethora of books but I guess the longest running book of him I read - from start to finish - is Transmetropolitan. Longtime readers of Tales from the Kryptonian know how much I adore that book since I have mentioned it in posts about Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson although I have to say that the success of it has to be put mainly on the feet of the latter. Not because I usually follow artists rather than writers but because as much as I did like Warren Ellis´ writing he did take his time on a lot of the issues and if it hadn´t been for Darick Robertson doing the impossible and sometimes whipping an entire issue out in just a few days the series would have surely crashed and burned in it´s earliest stages.

I hope his scripts were a bit more on time on another favorite series of mine, Nextwave, Agents Of H.A.T.E. where he worked with the great Stuart Immomen. Unlike Transmetropolitan here there is a specific post I can link to even though I was a bit confused what kind of series it was after reading the first four issues. They DO have a theme song, though.

Tim Bradstreet celebrates his 50th birthday and he has connections to two of Today´s celebrity anniversaries since he not only provided some of the covers for Transmetropolitan but also IDW´s Star Trek ( more on this later ). Although I knew him mostly for his covers for Hellblazer and Punisher. I thought about doing a special post about him but quite frankly if you have two of his covers next to another they already look exactly the same and the effect would only multiply with 22 of them. At first I thought I had to look on the internet for something I could post but them I remembered that he also did covers for the first Human Target series from Vertigo.

From british comic writers we come to british cult tv series as Christopher Eccleston turns 53 who is the one who started it all again with what is now known as New Who. He only did it for one season and the reason for that is a bigger mystery than the Kennedy assassination so I won´t even try to unravel it. I always had the impression that he was like the dude who was in the Beatles and walked away only to regret it later. You know, kind of like the actors who become well known because of their part in a tv series and then they quit the series because they think they can turn their popularity into a movie career only to find out years later that the tv series was the best thing they got going. Kind of Rob Morrow on Northern Exposure or sexy Teri Hatcher on Lois & Clark : The New Adventures Of Superman. In any case, Christopher Eccleston is the one that started the triumphant return of Doctor Who to tv and while he never publicly said anything negative about it he also did not appear in the 50th anniversary special. Which he will probably regret because I´m not so sure if he will be around for his next chance at the 75th anniversary special with 78 years.

Initially I wanted to post a documentary about all of the Doctors but then I decided to go with one that was all Christopher Eccleston. He did play a really good version of The Doctor after all and if there are people who still don´t know what this show is all about, this is the season where you start as they do a pretty good job at setting the whole thing up and explaining what happened between the so - called wilderness years and New Who.

Today we really cover all the bases as our next candidate Ice - T celebrates his 59th birthday. Not only is he an award winning musician, iconic rapper and accomplished actor he also managed to get married to a real life blow up sexdoll who is the personified wet dream of every black man : a white sexual freak built like a sister with an ass that just won´t quit. Since she looks like the original Bart Sears Power Girl come to live with her 39DD - 23 - 45 measurements I cast her in that role in the first part of the Subzero edition of my Casting the Justice League of America movie post series .

I almost posted this clip of Coco´s remarkable chestical control a few times before but since the one I had bookmarked of Brian Williams rapping Straight Outta Compton was deleted I ran out of options. By the way, if you want to see a great movie with Ice - T check out Surviving The Game.

It´s back to brits in comics as John Totleben ( only germans know how macabre and contradictory this name is ) turns 59 who is best known for inking Steve Bissette on Alan Moore´s acclaimed run on Swamp Thing. In the original printing John Totleben´s work can get overpowered by the color but thankfully there was a special black and white edition of this run called Essential Vertigo : Swamp Thing which lasted twenty - four issues.

Writing these short encapsulations can be really rewarding. In the case of LeVar Burton who celebrates his 60th birthday I knew he is best known for the iconic role of Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek : The Next Generation ( I told you we would come back to that ) and before that he was Kunta Kinte in Roots but I had no idea that he was born in Germany.

Since all of my bookmarked Star Trek videos are with the original crew - and we haven´t had a cartoon video yet - here is another show LeVar Burton is known for Captain Planet and the Planeteers where he not only did the voice of Kwame but also was the narrator in the series opening.

Our last comic related birthday is Len Strazewski who turns 62. He was one of the writers on Prime published by Malibu Comics with art by Norm Breyfogle who celebrates his birthday later this month on the 27th.

Since we already covered all the usual bases, from comics to music to sci fi to cult tv shows to cartoons to boobs I can choose the last video from my huge pile of unused stuff. Night of the Ghoul stars Vincent Price and Veronica Carlson so I am not sure for whom it was originally intended.

New to the blog ? Everything you need to know about TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN :top ten posts / more posts of interest / best of the best

Magic is the cheat codes for the world.

I almost forgot Curt Swan´s birthday - again

Just as I had posted all the pages of FLASH issue 133 and was already going through Today´s celebrity birthday list I realized that I totally brainfarted on Curt Swan´s birthday - again. Which is not something you are allowed to do when your blog has a name like TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN, dude.

Luckily after last year´s oversight ( I did a post on Hammer Studio cult siren Yvonne Romain instead who also was born on this day ) I started collecting Curt Swan stuff in a special folder so we will have to shelf the FLASH FRIDAY post until next week while Today is all about remembering an artist who has defined the look of the Man of Tomorrow for decades.

He even illustrated the Man of Tomorrow´s Tomorrow and past so to speak since he drew a lot of his adventures as the young Superboy as well as his exploits 1,000 years in the future with a whole legion of super friends.

Since Curt Swan´s birthday falls on a Friday this year I thought about doing a Flash - centric post like posting SUPERMAN 220 - Who Stole My Super - Powers ? but as I didn´t do a Curt Swan post last year I decided against it. In any case I would have only re - posted what somebody else had posted.

Instead I have decided to select a few iconic moments and favorite stories from Superman´s long and wonderful history. Today´s writers very often complain about how complex and overwhelming Kal - El´s universe can be while forgetting how whacky, heartwarming and gut - wrenching all those stories were. As somebody who has lived a lot of these adventures - as much as one can really live four colored pictures in funnypages - I would almost pity them but just Today I finished watching THE ADVENTURES OF THE MINI GODDESSES, which is a cartoon spin - off from the manga series OH MY GODDESS ! Now while I stopped reading OH MY GODDESS ! because after the first story they just kept repeating it over and over again with the stakes becoming higher and higher I just love THE ADVENTURES OF THE MINI GODDESSES and could read it forever. Which shows you that just because something is the source material of something it does not mean it has to be the best version or even your favorite version. And that is totally legitimate. I have written about this topic a lot, that my favorite version of the X - Men are by John Romita Jr. and Marc Silvestri, that my favorite Daredevil is also by John Romita Jr, heck, the best Iron Man is by John Romita Jr and when you think about it Curt Swan was also not the first artist to draw Superman but he was the definitive one for many generations. And now there are new generations of readers out there whose favorite Superman artist may be John Byrne, Dan Jurgens, Rags Morales or - again - John Romita Jr ( is there anything he can´t draw ? ).

So without further ado here is my totally incomplete and highly subjective selection of Curt Swan´s best of the best Superman moments and stories. And if there are any special stories or memories you want to share, as somebody else always says - please let me know in the comments below.

So for our 820th post ( it´s almost like I planned this only when I DO plan things they never work out as intended ) I don´t have that many new Curt Swan Superman links and a few of them might be actually re - posts. First up DIVERSIONS OF THE GROOVY KIND has a groovy selection of Superman splash pages and besides the stories The Man Who Murdered The Earth from Superman 248 , Keeper Of The Eternal Flame from Superman 260 and Superman Meets The Nightmare Maker from Superman 266 you can find more posts about Curt Swan there. THE LEGION OF SUPER - BLOGGERS naturally has a Curt Swan birthday salute as does 13TH Dimension in 2015 and 2016 . Today´s other birthdays start with Ed Sheeran who turns 26.

Jerry O´Connell celebrates his 43rd birthday who has been the voice of Nightwing, Captain Marvel and Superman and who - among other series - appeared on Crossing Jordan. I tried to to watch the show but in the first episode I saw she let herself get railroaded in court even though she was the foremost authority in her field. I don´t know but I got the feeling the writers of the show tried to make her like Temperance Brennan on Bones but failed. Jerry also played Sheriff Dan Lamb on Veronica Mars with bikini 34D siren Charisma Carpenter best known as Cordelia on the show Angel.

One of these days I´ll have to get the first season of Veronica Mars to find out how it all started since I came in at the tailend of that season - as usual. Besides Veronica Mars Charisma Carpenter was also in episode 11 of season 5 of Burn Notice where she showed she still can deliver the goods.

In Germany only the first three seasons of Burn Notice have come out on DVD and right now I´m halfway through season 2. I´m not sure if I should wait any longer to see if they will do the rest someday or just get them through imports. Now that I´m invested I want to know how it plays out and there is even a spin off with Bruce Campbell´s character Sam. In any case Charisma´s funbags alone are worth the price of admission . Daimn !

But coming back to Jerry O´Connell he co - starred with more incredibly hot sexbombs : he was Mariah Carey´s boyfriend in the music video Heartbreaker but his biggest claim to co - starring babe fame was as Intelligenzbolzen Quinn Mallory in Sliders alongside cult siren Kari Wuhrer .

She was put on the cast as the boner guarantee for the male audience and they got more than their money´s worth in the Wild West episode where her big melons are almost spilling out of her snug saloon girl corsage.

She also was in HOT BLOODED, a really bad movie that doesn`t even have full frontal nudity. Nevertheless it´s one of my favorite movies with Kari because she looks really hot in this one. You get to see a lot of cleavage and boobs and in the first sex scene on the bed you can see her sexy ass.

And because one scene where she´s at a gas station and pulls down her leather top to make the desk clerck horny. She´s really pulling it in all directions so you get to see her full boobs. I have no evidence but I swear I can see some nipple. I bet Kari had to do this scene a hundred times as the crew was sabotaging all takes just to see her boobs again and again.

In any case, I had this scene on a video tape on a loop and I must have heard the words " This material just doesn´t breathe ! " a hundred times.

Like I said there is no full frontal nudity in this cineastic masterpiece but you get a bit of sideboob in a scene that was heavily cut on german tv.

They cut parts from when she´s using a whip to get into the mood and pours hot wax on his body. They also cut some parts from where she´s on top of him which I didn´t know until I found the movie on the internet.

Damn you, german tv for keeping Kari Wuhrer´s sideboob away from me !

There is however no sideboob involved in our next birthday babe, Denise Richards who turns 46, only full frontal in her most famous scene from Wild Things - for which she could have used a body double but she declined.

In the lesbian threesome with Neve Campbell and Matt Dillon that secured Denise a place in the nudity hall of fame herbreasts became the focus of several storyboards that were sent back and forth between her lawyer, the producers and the director in order to determine how much of her spectacular bosom would be shown. At first they only wanted to film one breast but thankfully both ended up on the screen. And while Robert Downey Jr enjoys much fame for his role of Iron Man it has to sting that Matt Dillon got to motorboat Denise Richard´s champagner - covered wet perfectly shaped boobs instead of him. There have been sequels to the movie but none have reached the level of the original for obviousreasons.

Speaking of perfectly shaped boobs, obvious reasons and motorboating in another of these strange coincidences I don´t believe in adult model, exotic dancer, actress and living 42H Power Girl body double SaRenna Lee who was turned down as a waitress at Hooters and who appeared in Russ Meyer´s Playboy´s Voluptuous Vixens also celebrates her 46th birthday.

From basketball - sized breasts we come to the real thing as my name twin Michael Jordan turns 54. Has it really been twenty years since Space Jam ?

And it´s even harder to believe that Lou Diamond Phillips is even one full year older with 55. He had his biggest success in the Young Gun movies and the Richie Valens biography La Bamba but while he´s currently on Longmire ( which my mother watches like a lot ) I am currently watching season two of Num3ers where he plays sharpshooter Agent Ian Edgerton.

Hammer studio cult siren Yvonne Romain celebrates her 79th birthday. Since I wrote my post on her last year I have managed to watch The Brigand Of Khandahar and Captain Clegg a.k.a. Night Creatures and it really seems that The Curse Of The Werewolf is Yvonne´s best work.

Now while Yvonne´s part in Captain Clegg is rather small the movie in itself is very entertaining with a few unexpected plot twists towards the end.

Our last birthday shoutout goes to Alejandro Jodorowsky who turns 88 and I almost included him in an earlier post since I got his date of birth mixed up. He is of course best known to science fiction comic fans around the world as the creator of the Incal and if you have never heard of it you need to read this . Now After The Incal and Final Incal have finally been released in the US and you might ask yourself what exactly are those books. After The Incal is the unfinished aftermath of The Incal series and illustrated by Moebius. The comic was announced in Germany but I guess since it was never finished it was not published here. I did manage to get a copy of the spanish edition from amazon and I was a bit disappointed because the art was greatly different from the other Incal books and I didn´t know that it was unfinished. So after Moebius´ death Jodorowsky still wanted to finish the story so he re - wrote it so spanish artist Jose Ladronn could do the art. That is Final Incal which is on my to - read list.

Since I already posted a Moebius video on said occassion here is one about the influence of Jodorowsky on Luc Besson´s The Fifth Element.

What´s up, Doc ?

Happy birthday Gail Kim ( not a re - post ) !

Today canadian professional wrestler, wrestling valet, model and actress of korean descent sexbomb Gail Kim - Irvine celebrates her 40th birthday.

Now since I already did a post on wrestling legend Gail Kim last year usually I would consider doing a re - post but since I never got to do the follow up post I promised my readers ( for which I already selected all the material ) here we will have all new stuff which I couldn´t fit into the first post. Yup, this is not Disney´s Marvel so when I tell you something is all - different and all - new you can bet your bottom dollar that it IS stuff you haven´t seen before. Not just a rehashing of old ideas and story lines plus gays.

That also means that I will try not to repeat anything I have written in my last Gail Kim post. So if you want to know more about her just go to the other post. I hope this will make the post a bit shorter and let´s face it, you´re not here to read my musings you want to see Gail Kim in action.

Now as usual I am not up to date on all things wrestling and even moreso than last year. Since my Mom resides here at the moment it has been months since I watched wrestling and even before that I had to make an effort because WWE wrestling has become too much of a dog and pony show - and not in a good way. I mean, what does it say when you would rather watch three episodes of Thunder In Paradise than any episode of a WWE show ? I have to say I started watching more NXT because there is more wrestling and less sports entertainment involved. Even TnA had become like the WWE and the only reason to watch it are the Knockouts.

Which is way better than the WWE´s Divas - which is why they had to restock from the NXT roster. Anyway, most of the GIFs in this post are from last year and I haven´t even watched any TnA wrestling clips through the internet so I don´t know if there still is a TnA wrestling league or if Gail Kim is still active. For all I know she might have become a full time model or an action movie star. On the other hand things might still be going on as usual and she is still having matches against the Dollhouse.

Which I always found a bit boring. If you have been watching wrestling since the 80s this whole " one against a group " thing is kind of done to death. I mean, really, how many times do you have to get your ass kicked before you go for back up ? Anyway, with Today´s wrestling everything turns into a group thing sooner or later. I don´t know, but I have never been someone who tends to be in groups. Even in school I never wanted to be in any cliques - which is how I always ended up with the weirdos and school rejects. For Todays kids this may sound a bit strange but back then you were not cool if you read comics or knew a lot about tv shows.

At least being good at art helped a bit because sooner or later all of your classmates needs a favor that involves drawing something and the girls don´t totally think you´re a creep. Well, at least until they see what you draw. Back to wrestling I always liked it better when it was just one on one like with Gail Kim and Taryn Terell. Those were some epic matches.

I may have already posted this video but before we come to the Gail Kim versus Angelina Love GIFs I think abit of context is needed. We have to keep in mind how Gail Kim returned to TnA wrestling and how Velvet Sky was clobbered by the Karen Jarrett gang on a regular basis. I don´t think she got any help from her old Beautiful People ex - partner at that time.

No, you really can´t say that Angelina Love is a nice person although she has two 34E arguments that are 100 percent certified crowd pleasers.

Speaking of Angelina´s love balls am I the only one who thinks it´s a bit hypocritical to have a special move called the implant buster when you are walking around with some obvious enhancement in that area yourself ?

I am adding a few wrestling videos although I know that most of them will probably be deleted until next year. On the other side what good is it to bookmark them if I don´t put them on the blog when I have the chance ? There are a few I will save for other posts where Gail Kim fights other female wrestlers about whom I have already written in the past. But apart from them there will be quite a number of wrestling videos on this post.

Now Gail Kim´s feud with Brooke Tessmacher ( somebody at TnA wrestling must have been a big fan of the Richard Donner Superman movies ) must have been around the time when they still showed TnA on german tv because I remember watching them in the living room with my brother.

At this point you have probably seen enough hot women beat the stuffing out of each other so I want to close the post - or at least this part of it - with a happy Gail Kim. Well, Gail Kim in a bikini always makes me happy !

This first video is a compilation which I decided to include at the last minute because you won´t find these Gail Kim moments anywhere in GIF form and I don´t have the necessary time to make them all myself. But if there is anybody out there who has enough free time on my hands be my guest and most importantly send me an e - mail or link when you are done.

The second one is from a photo shoot Gail did for Muscle & Fitness, a magazine I used to buy on and off when I was a regular commuter. Some reading material you only buy when you see it at a newsstand and if you don´t frequent one a few times a week you just stop. I used to buy this and the special IRONMAN issues for the swimsuit pictures - a lot of them with swimsuit models that later became Divas like Trish Stratus or Tylene Buck - but that dried down with the rise of the internet. I still have the IRONMAN Swimsuit Special videos somewhere and one of these days I have to find an internet store where you can get them on DVD. Those were awesome and much better than anything related to wrestling Divas.

I added this section after I had put all the material in that was original intended to go on the post because it´s kind of a throwback to the last Gail Kim post. Longtime readers might remember I mentioned that Jade from the Dollhouse had the potential to be more than just a background character if she was willing to bring her qualities more to the foreground.

Well it seems I was not the only one who thought along those lines as other people seem to have noticed Jade a.k.a. Mia Yim´s ... I was going to try to avoid the term porn star qualities because of the racial stereotype that all asian women are natural born deepthroating nymphomaniacs, genetically engineered through centuries of prostitution as perfect blow up sex dolls to make males squirt their brains out but when a woman has arse antlers I stop arguing. A tattoo is something you get not something that happens to you and it´s not called tramp stamp without a reason.

Her asian predestination as a porn star notwithstanding Jade decided to try her luck in the squared circle before taming well hung potent studs for a living. Besides her superior oriental sex techniques she has a background in Muay Thai as well as in lucha libre which was very helpful in becoming the new Knockout champion. At least for a time but I don´t know if she is currently still the champ. She definitely has the fighting abilities, a tireless hardbody and that natural korean flexibility that is helpful in both camps.

And to show you that she´s not only a freak in the bed but also knows how to wrestle here´s her first title defense against Madison Rayne.

What started out as just a short post has become longer and longer so I am going to wrap up things. Which means that I don´t have time to go trough all of my bookmarks but I still want to share a few links that I came across while looking for the site where I usually get my wrestling clips ( only to find out that it is completely outdated - like me ) with my readers. I am very careful with what I share on the blog because I don´t want to put anything out there that´s NSFW but with these I think I am safe. As I don´t know when I will have the chance to do my next wrestling related post here are the links for a hot GIF of Taryn Terell from her Playboy days , more Gail Kim vs Dollhouse GIFs and for more high quality wrestling GIFs than you can shake a stick at go to the WHATEVER I FEEL LIKE tumblr.

Our first celebrity birthday is musical super star Rihanna who turns 29. I think I had some posts on her on the old blog but so far I haven´t found the time for it. Also I am not current on all things Rihanna ( like what´s the name of her latest music video ) since I don´t watch much music television lately and I don´t have a video bookmarked so we leave that for a later date. For now here is a GIF from her almost wardrobe malfunction at SNL - I posted a link to a high quality version of this in an earlier post.

Apropos, I could have sworn that I mentioned singing sexbomb Ophélie Winter who celebrates her 43rd birthday in an earlier post because she was one of the candidates for the french superheroine Crimson Fox from my Casting the Justice League of America movie posts but it seems I must´ve replaced her with someone else when I overhauled these posts.

This is the first video I saw of Ophelie Shame On You ( it was around the time when we first could watch french tv through the tv cable so I was always zapping through the french tv stations when I was channel surfing and I only caught the second half of it which was still better than having nothing ) which made a very big impression on me and I chose the english language version of the song because it is the one with the best quality.

And we are staying in that time period - although not on the continent - because that´s when Cindy Crawford became one of the first supermodels ever. It´s hard to believe that she turns 51. How time flies. I went on the internet to look for an iconic image of her that was safe to post but I had no idea what I was looking for. Once I saw this picture it all came back.

I really was convinced I had to put Sidney Poitier in the Dearly Departed section and was very relieved to find out that he is alive and celebrating his 90th birthday. With the huge lists of celebrities we lost last year I may be forgiven this oversight. I wanted to post In The Heat Of The Night but since I could not find it - or any of his other movies - in good quality ( I was desperately trying to find Let´s Do It Again with Bill Cosby which was arguably not one of his best movies but one I must have watched more than a hundred times as a kid growing up ) here are his top five films.

Definitely no longer with us is Dwayne McDuffy, best known for his work on the animated Justice League cartoons ( anyone who reads this and only knows the recent Justice League Action cartoons do yourself a favor and seek them out ) and the Milestone universe titles like Hardware, Icon or Static Shock. I remember that when these comics first came out I didn´t pay it much attention since I thought that as a white man ( even one with spanish roots ) I was clearly not their intended target audience and I also was more interested in the mainstream superhero comics.

But just a few months ago I found a lot of these Milestone issues for a really low price and since you can practically get them for peanuts at most comic shops I wanted to know if they are worth reading. I think I got to mention this comic haul on the blog although I still haven´t found the time to do a review of them. So instead of the Justice League Unlimited extra with Mark Hamill I wanted to post ( and which you can find pretty easily on YouTube ) or an episode of the Static Shock cartoon ( which I missed completely and of which you can´t find any complete episodes ) here is the History of Icon - who has a few similarities to Superman.

Speaking of icons, Today is also the anniversary of movie maker Andy Sidaris but since I just did a post on Dona Speir a few days back - just like last year - I am not going to make a special post since I already did one and I don´t think that there is anything I haven´t covered in previous posts.

Which brings us to the final video which is dedicated to german comedy bedrock Heinz Erhardt. In my last Gail Kim post I posted a trailer for Karl May´s The Oil Prince because he has a small part in it but this time I am posting the first part of a Heinz Erhardt special. Which is due to the fact that I could not find any of his movies in good quality but he was always better in front of a live audience anyway. Like reciting short funny poems or the hilarious sketch where each word has to begin with the letter g.

Science fiction siren Jeri Ryan re - posted !

Oy. Anyway, click here for more GIFs of Doctor Crusher´s and Deanna Troi´s space yoga,The 21 Times Dr. Beverly Crusher Was Your Fashion Idol and last but not least THE VALKYRIE DIRECTIVE takes a more than extensive look at Kira and Dax´s wardrobe through the Deep Space Nine series.

What I did see was the Two And A Half Men episode with Jeri. In the episode she plays an old flame of Charlie Sheen who starts a relationship with his brother but he is too obsessed with what happened when she was with Charlie - so he ruins it. Poor guy, I bet she would have spoiled him for all other women on earth. And beyond.

I also caught the episode Queen For A Day from the show Warehouse 13 where Jeri Ryan had a guest role as Peter Lattimer´s ex wife Amanda.

Kate Mulgrew who played Captain Janeway on Star Trek - Voyager was also on the show as Peter´s Mom ( kind of a reunion here although I´m not so sure Kate was so happy to see Jeri again since she was always bitching about Jeri stealing the attention of the viewers away from her ) which didn´t exactly make it easier to watch the show. Not that it isn´t difficult enough to watch the show as they keep changing the time the show is on, then it gets put on a different channel and now they are doing marathons. Some day I´ll just buy all the seasons and binge watch it.

Other shows where Jeri Ryan appeared include The Sentinel, Who´s The Boss ?, Matlock, Leverage and Arrow.

We start the entertainment section with the obligatory birthday greeting for Kyle MacLachlan who turns 58. He has been in everything from Twin Peaks to Desperate Housewives and Marvel´s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but the reason why I am mentioning his birthday in this post is that he also starred in a little sci fi movie from 1997 called The Hidden. The film is still shown on tv mostly because of the raunchy striptease by Claudia Christian ( with which she secured herself a spot on my personal Top 10 Best Movie Striptease list amongst other silver screen stripper stars like Halle Berry and Erika Eleniak ) who is best known from another sci fi show, Babylon 5 by comic writer J. Michael Strazynski where she plays Commander Susan Ivanova. Although I doubt she wore anything as skimpy as this on it.

In our Dearly Departed section we have Billy Mo whose Ich kauf mir lieber einen Tirolerhut was one of the Schlager we kept playing to keep our spirits up during basic training at the Deutsche Bundeswehr in Munich.

Since it is Jeri Ryan´s birthday - and I already posted her appearances on Craig Ferguson in my first post on her - I went looking for something else. Initially I wanted to post her part from Arrow but then I found this. That´s one of the reasons why I love writing these posts : I never knew this show existed and you get two Star Trek stars for the price of one, Jeri and Wil.

Originally I posted a Power Records edition of Star Trek but then I found Wildstorm´s Star Trek - Voyager : False Colors and changed the video.

Since I have never seen an episode of it I wanted to include the classic Filmation cartoon but I could only find complete episodes in spanish.

Speaking about things I have not seen, I don´t think I have ever watched The Last Starfighter but I have heard only good things about this movie.

Totally unexpected Tom Peyer Thursday !

You probably thought you were getting the next installment of THORSDAY WITH ERIK LARSEN or - at least - another post singing the praise of SHANG CHI, MASTER OF KUNG FU as it is Doug Moench´s 69th birthday and I had planned something similar when I read that it´s Tom Peyer´s birthday too.

Now the name Tom Peyer has probably not come up very often on my blog and you won´t probably see it on any Best Of or Favorite Writers lists so I may be forgiven for not knowing which comic books he had written from the top of my hat. I then did what anybody with half a brain would do : I went to the internet to improve my superficial knowledge with half - truths and unverified facts. And surprise, surprise, Tom Peyer has written or co - written some of my favorite series. Because I spent most of the day preparing Tomorrow´s super special FLASH FRIDAY post I am just going to post some covers - kind of like the highlights of his career - but don´t think I made it easy on myself because I started with over 200 covers and had to bring it down to 23. So here are the covers I selected and each of them has the Subzero seal of approval. Oh, you might notice that some of the books are covering a certain area or time frame of the DC universe.

Surprise : Flash Friday with Greg LaRoque !

$
0
0
You probably expected to see my post on FLASH 133 - which I had to post pone to do the birthday post for Curt Swan last week - or the special FLASH FRIDAY I mentioned Yesterday ( you know, the one for which I went all the way to the Sammlerecke in Esslingen to prepare for ) but since Today is Greg LaRoque´s 63rd birthday we´ll have to do the special FLASH FRIDAY next week and FLASH 133 .... when I get to it. It´s been delayed since January so one more week is not going to make a big difference.

Greg LaRoque has worked on a plethora of titles both at Marvel and DC but the two books he´s mainly known for are LEGION OF SUPER - HEROES and FLASH. As everybody who has followed this blog for some time knows I´m a huge fan of the Legion and any excuse to put more Legion content on the blog is fine by me. But we had a lot of Legion of Super - Heroes covers in Yesterday´s post in honor of Tom Peyer and to tell the truth I am not so up to date with Greg LaRoque´s Legion issues as I am with his Flash issues. And it IS Friday so FLASH FRIDAY with Greg LaRoque it is. We will have to do another post with his work on the Legion of Super - Heroes at some other day. But don´t worry, as I have already proven over the last weeks nothing gets shelved indefinitely here on TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN.

Now that it was settled that I was going to make a special FLASH FRIDAY post for Greg LaRoque´s birthday the question was about what it should be ? The special FLASH FRIDAY post I had planned to do is a review of the recently published THE FLASH - A CELEBRATION OF 75 YEARS and how it compares to the german counterpart FLASH ANTHOLOGIE - 75 JAHRE ABENTEUER IM ZEITRAFFER. But the thing is that there is no issue from Greg LaRoque´s FLASH run in the US edition. So I thought about finally doing one of my long post poned FLASH posts - either DEATH IN COMICS : THE DEATH OF BARRY ALLEN or THE RETURN OF BARRY ALLEN - but then decided against it. For one, I still need to put a lot of work into the posts and I have to finish Yesterday´s post so I don´t want to spend all day on this post. Also these two posts are like my FLASH FRIDAY trump cards so I want to hold on to them a bit longer. And then there is the thing that writing about the last one involves one huge spoiler so I want to do that as late as possible. So instead I was just going to post one issue of FLASH.

Okay, all that was left to do was to pick one issue from Greg LaRoque´s entire run of FLASH that showcases his great art, Jose Marzan´s fantastic inks, William Messner - Loebs wonderful writing and also shows what a great character Wally West as the Flash was. No pressure there, right ?

Luckily for me it was not as difficult as it had been since there was one issue that came up in all the reviews of THE FLASH - A CELEBRATION OF 75 YEARS on amazon as the one issue that should have been included, the same issue that IS included in FLASH ANTHOLOGIE - 75 JAHRE ABENTEUER IM ZEITRAFFER. I don´t want to completely shoot my bolt here because I still plan on doing the review post but I think a lot of people who bought the US hardcover were disappointed because they came in with a wrong premise. It is not THE BEST FLASH STORIES FROM 75 YEARS nor GREATEST MOMENTS FROM 75 YEARS OF FLASH HISTORY. As it says it is meant as a celebration although if you look at the way how disparate the selection of stories is the word acknowledgement would be more appropriate. Anyway, we will discuss all this and more at length in another post. For Today I give you Nobody Dies from FLASH issue 54 which is not only a big fan favorite but also William Messner - Loebs´ favorite issue from his entire FLASH run.

Maybe this Agamotto dude just wants his eye back.

Willaim Gaines Wednesday double feature

$

0
Since we had two DC - centric posts I thought about putting the next chapter of Spider - Girl on the blog and have another WEBSLINGING WEDNESDAY but is there a better way to start off the month of March than to honor one of the most important pioneers of comic books ?

I know this sounds a bit like the usual hyperbole but keep in mind that William Gaines took a floundering comic book company and turned it into the most successful comic publisher that was kicking all the others butt.

His comics Tales From The Crypt, The Vault Of Horror and The Haunt Of Fear were without any competitors so that it took the combined forces of Frederic Wertham, the Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency and the rest of the comic publishers to bring him down. Of course the loss of one is the gain of another and while William Gaines ceased publishing most of his horror titles for the less successful new trend titles he concentrated on a new magazine that would not be subject to the restrictions put on comic books that became a cult publication for a whole generation : MAD magazine. Anyway, if you haven´t guessed from the title of this blog I am a huge fan of the EC cult horror comics that were among the best comics ever published - back then and even now in the 21st century - so Today I have selected some material from those cult classics from Yesteryear.

Because it was too difficult to choose a selection of art from all the EC comic stuff I have amassed over the last few months - and because I like to post original art - I have decided to go with complete stories which narrowed it down quite a bit. And since I also like to post the colored pages next to the original black and white pages there were not that many stories left. The first one I have picked for Today´s post is Southern Hospitality from THE VAULT OF HORROR 19 by EC stalwart Johnny Craig.

Our second story is Wined - Up from one of the less known EC series CRIME SUSPENSE STORIES 19, which is the reason I couldn´t find any of the colored pages. Nevertheless I wanted to include it in the post because it was drawn by one of my favorite EC artists, George Evans.

It´s fitting that with my 825th post we return to the roots of the blog which means that post number 900 is only 75 posts away. I don´t think I can meet that goal at this years blog anniversary in April but maybe it´s possible for my birthday. Who knows ? As always there are a few people to thank and the usual links of interest starting with the original art of Wally Wood´s cover for Shock SuspenStories 6 which I found on Dan Nadel´s review of IDW´s Wally Wood´s EC Stories : Artist´s Edition on THE COMICS JOURNAL . Speaking of finding things, while I did not find any color pages from Crime Suspense Stories 19 I found another story by George Evans The Assassin from Shock SuspenStories 17 on CREEPY COMICS and JACK`S ATTIC has a post on The Most Infamous Comic Book Cover of All Time which is Crime SuspenStories 22 with a few homage covers thrown in.

We start Today´s rather long entertainment block with Sterling Gates, one of the writers on the Supergirl tv show who celebrates his 36th birthday.

The show has really picked up steam since it went over to the CW as they have fixed most of the things that were not so good on the first season.

One of the best changes was that they finally stopped ignoring Superman and brought him into the fold. Not only that, they managed to bring a version of Superman to the screen that is better than anything we will see in Zack Snyder´s upcoming Justice League movies ( we will come to Zack later as he also has an anniversary Today ). I have just watched the latest episode of Supergirl Yesterday - which had Helen Slater and Dean Cain in it - so what I want to know is if they will have Teri Hatcher in an episode. And what´s really on everybody´s mind : will they introduce a new version of Power Girl ? With all the parallel earths they have visited in the Arrow / Flash universe lately it could even be an asian Power Girl .... hint, hint.

Apropos magical cleavage windows, real life Power Girl Anna Semenovich turns 37 who also could easily fill out that role or star in any Russ Meyer movie with her bonerinducing 43E ( !!! ) bust. I don´t know what it is with former female athletes that makes them boob out that much after ending their career ( you may remember hungarian gymnasts Csisztu Zsuzsa and Stefany Hohnjec who turned into mega endowed brabusters ) but I guess that when they stop with the doping it gives the female hormones that have been suppressed so long a chance to come back with a vengeance and turn them into the ultimate Sexbomben. Now in the case of former figure skater Anna Semenovich I don´t want to say she was born for porn ( which totally could be the title of a reality tv casting show for porn stars in spe ) but nomen est omen and she has the word " semen " in her name.

We are staying with hot women as Erika Michelle Barre celebrates her 38th birthday. On her info sheet it says that she was PLAYBOY´s Cyber Girl of the Week in the third week of June 2001, Cyber Girl of the Month for October 2001 and Cyber Girl of the Year for 2002 and I´m not entirely sure what that means. What I do know is that around that time I was reading PLAYBOY magazines on a less regular basis so that I only remember the more exceptional playmates and Erika was in one of the issues I did read.

Speaking of things I used to do, Jensen Ackles is just one year older than Erika with 39 and he´s of course best known as Dean Winchester on Supernatural. I always watched the show with my brother but at some point he lost interest and we still have half a dozen episodes on the recording device in the living room nobody uses anymore. I don´t have the slightest idea at which season we were IF I wanted to continue and since all the episodes are heavily cut in Germany I haven´t bought any of the seasons on DVD even though they are in every amazon DVD sales.

Besides Supernatural Jensen also played Jason Teague on Smallville and was the voice of Jason Todd / Red Hood in the animated adaption of Under The Red Hood. Which for me was not that good of an adaption because it did not really translate Doug Mahnke´s style into animated form. I don´t know but am I the only one who sees these things ? When I hear how well they turned The Dark Knight Returns, Batman : Year One or The Killing Joke into cartoons I can only facepalm. I mean those cartoons look nothing like Frank Miller, David Mazuchelli or Brian Bolland´s artwork.

Or Superman / Batman : Public Enemies for instance did not look like Ed McGuiness art. He turns 43 Today. I´m not sure if the movie incorporated one of the most famous panels of Power Girl´s entire history from issue 4 of Superman / Batman ( it all comes back to Power Girl Today, mates ).

Speaking of Ed McGuniess version of Power Girl, there´s a review of the ... can I say toy or is it Power Girl action figure ? ... by Artemis on OAFE . You know, after I did the post for Grant Morrison´s birthday last month I naturally found the first issues of Justice League Classified and said to myself that I will post the first issue on Ed McGuiness´ birthday but now I don´t think I can do two posts on one day so I will have to post pone it.

What I can´t delay is mentioning Javier Bardem´s 48th birthday if I ever want to go back to Spain. I just saw him in the 89th Academy Awards Yesterday where he presented an Oscar together with Meryl Streep.

Which is one of the reasons why there has been no post since Friday ( the other reasons being such mundane things like eating, sleeping, putting the finishing touches on two posts and cleaning up all the material I needed for that ) as it was not easy finding the show. Now personally there is always something that bugs me about Jimmy Kimmel - even after I found out how the whole Matt Damon thing started - but I have to say, apart from the snafu at the end he did a good job. And speaking of the 2017 Oscars, is it just me or did Taraji P Henson have the best dress ?

Now I may be biased here but for me the best moments of the show involved Taraji P Henson - and free food. There have been a few jokes about this but we all know how it is at these shows, you don´t eat before it because you don´t want to have to go to the can so often since you can bet money on it that the moment you go to relieve yourself is the moment they call up your name. And especially women don´t eat before shows to fit into their dresses. So one can get pretty hungry during long shows and when there are snacks dropping from the ceiling you go for it.

So far I have not watched Empire because at the moment the first two season are still expensive but if it´s true that there are some nude scenes with Taraji ( which I doubt since it has a rating of apt for 12 year olds here in Germany ) I may have to look for a way to see it. Man, Taraji really has some lucky lips and it looks like her mouth is just the right size too. She can come over to my crib and play Swallow the Salami all weekend long.

For more Oscar glamour check out GIFs and picture of Taraji P Henson in her Oscar dress at LAINEY GOSSIP and more Oscar 2017 GIFs at COMPLEX .

So far we had the good DC adaption with the CW´s Supergirl, the bad with the animated versions which leaves us with the ugly meaning the works of Zack Snyder who celebrates his 51st birthday. It´s funny but before Batman vs Superman : Dawn of Justice came out people were up in arms because Ben Affleck was going to play Batman and they shoehorned a Wonder Woman cameo into the movie. Now they are upset because Ben will not be in the next DC movies which means total disaster will ensue because only his constant rewrites of the screenplay saved the movie and the best parts were the ones with Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot.

I am not sure what to think of this Zack Snyder guy. While I couldn´t care less for Sucker Punch I did like 300 and Watchmen as I seem to be one of the few ones who understands that you can´t cram an entire 12 issue mini series ( I´m not going to call it a graphic novel even if DC´s marketing branch insists on calling it the best sold graphic novel of all times ) into a two hour movie. Or it might have something to do with the fact that I am one of only a handful of comic fans on the planet who does prefer Mark Gruenwald´s Squadron Supreme series over Alan Moore´s Watchmen.

Apropos, I think Zack Snyder is still trying to do Watchmen because he does not know that the DC universe is not the Watchmen universe. I can see that Dawn of Justice is the logical consequence of the way Superman behaved in Man of Steel ( which was totally out of character and shows that Zack does not understand Superman and super heroes at all ) but there is too much happening in the movie. There are so many moving parts that I totally missed the death of Superman - which I think was supposed to be a major plot point. I kid you not, when they mentioned that Superman was dead at the beginning of Suicide Squad I was like " Whoa, WTF, when did that happen ? " Anyway, here is a little video to show Mr. Snyder that you can have super heroes behave in a heroic way.

Picking Today´s music video was not easy because we have everything from Roger Daltrey to Harry Belafonte and Glenn Miller and you probably expected me to go with Nik Kershaw as an 80s kid. But in the end I choose Sarah Hickman who turns 54. I picked the song Blue Eyes Are Sensitive To The Light written by Martika of the Arachnophobia soundtrack because I think this was the first song I heard of her. Back then teenage Subzero was a frequent movie goer and I was interested in everything about the movies so when I heard this haunting song I had to look her up and the next time I was at the CD shop ( this was before you bought everything from amazon and the internet shops ) I bought her album Shortstop. Which did not have that song on it nor did the other songs sound anything like it. I still liked the music and played the CD nonstop for a few months.

Today we really cover a lot of movies and tv shows like with our next birthday candidate Dirk Benedict who celebrates his 72nd birthday and who always plays the aceman, the spaceman in Battle Star Galactica and the faceman in The A - Team. Where he basically plays himself since you can see Dirk on the set of Battlestar Galactica in the A - Team intro.

We start the Dearly Departed section with Sir David Niven whose movie credit list is much too long to mention so I just want to bring up that he starred in the best adaption of Jules Verne´s classic Around The World In 80 Days alongside mexican superstar Cantinflas as Passepartout. It seems the videos I bookmarked from various adaptions have been deleted but luckily I came across a version by Rankin Bass last week. I still am not sure why the style seems so familiar. Maybe it has something to do with MAD ?

Our last birthday shoutout goes to Roger Delgado born as Roger Ceasar Marius Bernard de Delgado Torres Castillo Roberto ( as someone who has experienced the difficulties german bureaucracy has with a guy that has four names I can understand why he felt the need to shorten his name ) who shaped Doctor Who´s classic best frenemy the Master. Together with Unit he was one of the mainstays of John Pertwee´s tenure of the earth bound timelord and they not only had great on - screen chemistry they also were best friends. When Roger died in an accident in Turkey John was so devastated that he decided it was time to wrap up his time as the Doctor since he could not imagine continuing the series without him.

There are a few videos with Roger Delgado from Doctor Who but I did not want to pick one that just has some music and opted for this trailer with a lot of scenes from the series to show what a charismatic villain Roger was.

Man, I thought I would never get to the end of this post. I would say you are really getting your money´s worth for this 825th post but you don´t have to pay anything and I most definitely don´t get any money out of this. Since this post is in honor of William Gaines I am not closing things out with one of the many documentaries about the Tales From The Crypt movies or tv series. Instead here is a look at the artists of EC Comics. This is part of a documentary I already posted but this clip has a better quality.

Erik Larsen Thorsday part 2 : The Forsaken

$

0
After last week´s unscheduled post for Tom Peyer we are back on track with Erik Larsen´s THOR issues and this time he even got to do the cover.

Before we come to the actual issue at hand it is time for a little update on what´s new at the THOR front for me. Making these posts not only serves to let readers out there who only know the new female Thor see how the god of thunder is supposed to be written but it also reminds me why I love the book so much. When Disney is not messing it up with the Social Justice Warrior bs agendas and genderbending nonsense - or most of Dan Jurgens´ writing in this volume - it can be one of Marvel´s best titles.

Speaking of which, after getting volume 4 of THOR VISIONARIES : WALTER SIMONSON at a bargain price from amazon a few months back I decided to close the gap in my Thor trades and ordered volumes 3 and 5. Although I did make a small snafu. Now I have mentioned this before but there are currently two different versions of Walter Simonson´s THOR available in trade and you have to be really careful which ones you order because if you have a few of one version and you order trades from the other version you might have issues missing. The THOR VISIONARIES : WALTER SIMONSON line collects issues 337 - 348 in the first trade, issues 349 - 355 and 357 - 359 in the second trade, issues 360 - 369 in the third trade and issues 371 - 374 and BALDER THE BRAVE issues 1 - 4 in the fourth trade while the THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON line collects issues 337 - 345 in the first trade, issues 346 - 355 in the second trade, issues 357 - 363 and BALDER THE BRAVE 1 - 4 in the third trade and issues 364 - 369 and 371 - 374 in the fourth trade.

The fifth trade of both versions is basically the same collecting issues 375 - 382. I don´t know why Marvel decided to mix things around when they reprinted the issues again but it seems that with the second version they made sure that trades ended before the issues they omitted, issue 356 which was written by Bob Harras, penciled by Butch Guice and inked by Bob Layton and has Hercules telling one of the epic Hercules / Thor brawls as part of Assistant Editor´s Month and issue 370 written by James Owsley a.k.a. Christopher Priest, penciled by John Buscema and inked by none other than P. Craig Russell where Thor follows Loki to the old west where the god of mischief has hidden the apples of Idunn. While I understand why they left those issues out I would not have minded if they had included them since the first one is a very funny yarn and the second one has the legendary John Buscema on pencil which is always a good thing especially if you have somebody of the calibre of P. Craig Russel on inks.

So since I already had volume 4 of THOR VISIONARIES : WALTER SIMONSON I could not get volume 3 of THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON because I would have the BALDER THE BRAVE mini series in two trades and I would be missing issues 364 to 369. Now because the fifth THOR VISIONARIES : WALTER SIMONSON is almost impossible to find for a reasonable price I ordered the version of THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON but I forgot that those are the newly colored version which I already mentioned on this blog. So when I finally got the trade I was appalled by the coloring which totally overpowers the art by Walter Simonson which defeats the purpose of having a special edition dedicated to Walter Simonson´s run on THOR.

Now the reason for this long - winded explanation is that amazon currently offers volume 4 of THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON in their bargain book section and I want to warn my readers before they do something they might regret. IF you have already seen the new colored version of Walter Simonson´s THOR issues and you either like it or don´t care that much for the coloring then go ahead and buy it. BUT if you have not seen it - and you can´t see any preview pages through amazon on this one - better google it online and check out some of the pages before you do.

And speaking of checking out THOR trades, what I do recommend is the upcoming THOR EPIC COLLECTION : IN MORTAL FLESH that comes out in August this year and which collects issues 401 to 418 and THOR ANNUAL 14 from Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz´ highly underrated THOR run. I am going to buy a copy myself because it includes one of the issues I´m still missing in my collection which is a highly sought after issue since it is not only an ACTS OF VENGEANCE crossover but also the New Warriors 1st appearance.

But that is enough introduction for Today as a short preamble has become more time consuming than planned and it´s now seven o´clock. Here I have everything prepared to make a quick post and then I spend hours on reader service for trade paperbacks. So without further ado here is part two of Thor´s face off against longtime sparring partner Crusher Creel.

Now as usual I wanted to add a little bonus to the post and since I know how popular those DEJA VUE posts are with my readers I thought about including a few homage covers to THOR 126 but since I realized that there are some covers that are homages to that cover I totally missed I did a little internet research. Turns out there are more than just a few covers I didn´t know about so that will turn into a separate THORSDAY post down the line but it was another reason why making this post took so long.

So to give my readers that extra ooomph we have to go to the addendum which starts with two more THOR links of interest : Michael Hoskin at SECTION 244 who presents Thor : 40 years of favorite moments which naturally does not include the time Volstagg had a successful Food Network cooking show . Apropos tv shows, our birthday list is kicked off - pun intended - by italian mega sexbomba Federica Ridolfi who turns 43.

So far all my stuff about Federica is on the post about italian Über - MILF babe Simona Ventura since it´s not enough to require a separate post.

I first saw Federica as the front dancer of the ballet of the best tv show about soccer EVER which was the italian show QUELLI CHE IL CALCIO : a sports variety program that was broadcast live from Milan mixing coverage of italian series a soccer in real time with comedy, music and lots of hot women. Yes, in Germany tv programs about soccer are old, balding guys sitting at a table and drinking beer while in Italy it´s all about comedy, movie stars, interviews, music acts, a megahot presenter like Simona Ventura and a dance group with various incredibly hot sexbombs helmed by Federica Ridolfi. Since there is - like I said - not enough to do a solo post on Federica Ridolfi I am just going to put up the link for the Simona Ventura post where you can read more about her. Man, with all the work I have put intothese post you might think that this year I don´t have to do a re - post but it looks like I have to do another overhaul on April the 1st. At least the new version will not take as long to upload since I´ve already done a separate post for the Tutti Frutti girls so I can cut that part of it.

And from italian MILFs and Chin Chin girls we make the jump to Bond girls : Yesterday was Javier Bardem´s birthday who starred together with Daniel Craig in Skyfall ( or like I like to call it the last good Bond movie ) who in turn has his 49th anniversary Today. To top things off Yesterday´s post was in honor to EC Comic visionary William Gaines and Daniel Craig also starred in the episode Smoke Wings from the Tales From The Crypt tv series.

According to my brother Daniel Craig will not be in the next Bond movie and going by the huge drop in quality between Skyfall and Spectre I can´t blame him. I mean how do you go from a movie that does everything right to one that fails miserably on all levels ? It wasn´t Daniel Craig´s fault - he was brilliant like always - but if you can´t make a villain played by an Oscar winning actor with the caliber of Christoph Waltz scary you need to go back in and fix things. As it is the only good thing about Spectre - aside from providing another huge paycheck for Daniel Craig because a man has to eat and pay bills which in this case is mainly the Doctor´s bill - is The Writing´s On The Wall another great Bond song written by Sam Smith.

Since I don´t know when I will have another opportunity to write about female wrestlers ( it seems I only get to do that once a year on hasian rubber sex doll Gail Kim´s birthday) I absolutely MUST mention wrestling MILF Debra Marshal formerly known as Debra McMichael´s 57th birthday.

It´s no surprise that the Texas raised sexbomb with the huge hooters was a cheerleader as well as her school´s homecoming queen and Debra always catered to the sexual fantasy of doing it with the horny CEO with the porn star body or your nymphomanic boss with the perplexing puppies you could never drill. She always used her spectacular boobs to distract the opponent or the referee - whatever was more successful - and her ridiculously skimpy outfits come in every color of the 36DD rainbow

Coming back to comic books, Mark Evanier turns 65 who started as a production assistant to Jack Kirby and is best known nowadays for his collaborations with Sergio Aragones on the creator owned Groo the Wanderer. Dang, every time Sergio Aragones comes up I am reminded that I still have not gotten around to purchase the Conan vs Groo mini series.

Besides his numerous works in comic books which are just too many to list Mark Evanier has also written for tv shows like Welcome Back Kotter, Scooby - Doo and Scrappy - Doo, Garfield And Friends, The Plastic Man Comedy / Adventure Show, Richie Rich and Thundarr The Barbarian.

Coming from science fiction cult cartoons to science fiction cult shows Gates McFadden celebrates her 68th birthday who is of course known as the best reason to report to sick bay with a case of priapism for oral treatment, Doctor Beverly Crusher on Star Trek - The Next Generation.

Although she does not have her own post yet there is plenty of Star Trek centric content on this blog as I just did a re - post of cult siren Jeri Ryan.

She played cybernetic blow up doll drone of Borg Sex with Nine on Star Trek : Voyager and in three days Jolene Blalock who played vulcan Pon Farr nympho T´Pol on Enterprise celebrates her birthday and I´m afraid I have no other choice than to do a new re - post of her cult siren entry as well.

Since I have to save the cartoon video for the finale of this post ( and because the episodes I posted from the Star Trek cartoon have already been deleted ) here is The Crier In Emptiness from the Power Records.

Now german actress Uschi Glas who turns 73 is probably not regarded as a cult siren but she has appeared in everything from SOKO to Winnetou und das Halbblut Apanatschi and she started her career displaying her then booming body in the movie Zur Sache Schätzchen ( Go For It Baby ).

Which was a stroke of luck because otherwise unbelievable Uschi would had continued in her career as a secretary or accountant. When I saw the movie for the first time I was surprised how subversive it was compared to the actual tv content and as far as I could ascertain it was a big hit when it came out because it perfectly captured the Zeitgeist of the youthful protest against the german establishment and the loosening morals in the wake of the sexual revolution. Of course part of the big draw was the hot ( but sadly interrupted ) striptease at the police station by Schätzchen Uschi - how she was quickly nicknamed by the german yellow press.

Uschi also tried her luck as a short lived Schlager star during the 70s and even recorded the album Wenn dein Herz brennt with Giorgio Moroder.

We start our Dearly Departed section with cult siren Jennifer Jones who is sadly one of the world´s most underrated Academy Award - winning actresses. Over the course of her 30 year career she starred in over 20 movies of which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Song of Bernadette over Ingrid Bergman nominated for her work in For Whom The Bell Tolls. Jennifer was furthermore nominated for an Academy Award for her roles in Since You Went Away, Love Letters, Duel In The Sun and Love Is A Many - Splendored Thing.

My last birthday shoutout goes to Dr. Seuss and it is a bit weird that while I am from the generation that is more familiar with his work from the cartoon adaptions rather than his books there is a whole new generation out there who don´t know the books or the classic cartoons and their first contact with his material are the new awful 3d movies like The Lorax. I guess you can´t but fail if a money hungry company like Disney tries to convey a story with and environmental and ecological message at its basis.

Flash Friday - Through the looking glass !

You must be really tired of me telling you that I´m late with my FLASH FRIDAY posts so I won´t use that excuse Today since I´m actually not sure if I´m late or if I´m early or right on time or what. It´s a bit complicated.

But let´s start in the here and now. It´s Saturday and I am putting the finishing touches on the post so you might think that I am late. I am not.

Because I originally wrote the post in February and had already posted the main part when I realized it was Curt Swan´s birthday. So as I had already failed to do a special Curt Swan post last year - and there was no hurry to put the FLASH FRIDAY post on the blog - I put this post back into the draft folder. So you could say I am early because I wrote this post three weeks in advance. But - when I originally wrote it I was also late. Oh, boy. You see, the same week I had already posted a FLASH issue for Valentine´s Day but the FLASH FRIDAY post before that was back in January. So I do not know if I am coming or if I am going, if I am late or if I am early and if you get the strange feeling of Deja Vue that you have seen this post before than you are right. Whew, did you understand any of this ? Me neither.

Anyway, when I first put this issue of FLASH on the blog I wrote a brilliant intro which was probably the best piece of writing I have ever done on this blog without patting myself on the back too much. It was short but still poignant, witty, extremely clever worded and - might I say it ? - even a bit philosophical. One of this true moments when you can grasp the true meaning of life and I have to admit I had to get a tissue to wipe away a lonely tear, so moved was I. BUT you might say if it was that good why did I erase it ? The answer is : for my readers. Because as much as it might have changed the life of everybody who might have read it back then forever it only worked within the context of when it was originally written and if somebody would read it now it would make no sense and all the meaning would be lost. So it is with a heavy hart that I have to delete such greatness even if I´m sure that the new introduction will not even achieve a fraction of that. But it is all for the sake of my beloved readers.

Now if you have only started reading TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN this year you are probably going " Wait a minute, the special Valentine´s Day post was FLASH issue 129 and this is issue 133 of THE FLASH. Where´s the beef ? "( okay, nobody who wasn´t around during the 80s will probably use the expression where´s the beef ? but you get what I mean ) and you are absolutely right. The thing is that I already posted FLASH issue 130 , issue 131 and issue 132 which are part of the excellent Emergency Stop written by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar so you might want to go back and read those before continuing with this. I also already posted FLASH issue 134 in advance so don´t be surprised if our next issue is FLASH 135. By the way, we are nearing the end of Paul Ryan´s run on FLASH as there are only two more issues left to post. I´m open to suggestions on how to continue - and if to continue at all - the FLASH FRIDAY posts. I think if nobody objects I´d like to continue with Paul Pelletier´s issues from the series.

Anyway, here is finally the continuation from the cliffhanger I posted in July last year, sorry it took me so long. I hope the long wait was worth it.

Reposted birthday cult siren Jolene Blalock

$

Today one of tv´s hottest sci fi babes, Jolene Blalock celebrates her 42nd birthday. She is of course best known for playing T´Pol on ENTERPRISE.

From all the alien sexbombs on all the different Star Trek tv series T´Pol is on the top of my list. STAR TREK VOYAGER stuck Jeri Ryan and her big tits in a skin - tight suit in the show after Season 3 as 36DD drone of Borg Seven of Nine but ENTERPRISE just went and put the alien blow up sexdoll in the main cast of the show right from the pilot episode. Thanks, guys.

Sub - Commander / Commander T'Pol was the hottest vulcan sexbomb in the history of the universe and Enterprise's version of said Barbie of Borg ( read more about Jeri Ryan and the hot Star Trek women in her post ).

Under an agreement with the Vulcan High Command and Earths Starfleet T´Pol was placed aboard the NX - 01 Enterprise as Science and Executive Officer, serving under Captain Jonathan Archer. However she would eventually be brainwashed into " serving under " Commander Charles ' Dubya ' Tucker the Third, while under the effects of Trellium D.

I mean a Trellium - drugged out, semi emotional vulcan love slave with great curves and a killer rack - what's not to like about that ? Commander Fucker.....I mean Tucker had mul - t´pol orgasms thanks to the forbidden vulcan sexmassage....I mean T´Pol´s vulcan " body relaxation massage ".

Although I have to say T´Pol was also needy for Tucker´s earth meatpole because while Phlox gave her the idea to practice the vulcan massage it was T´Pol who went all " Kama Sutra on acid laced steroids " on Tucker.

She was so turned on by their midnight olympics that she had to use the old " it´s just for scientific reasons " schtick to bang him into submission.

Not that he put up much resistance to her since he´s been whacking off to her body since their first sessions in the decontamination chamber.

He even slipped Doctor Phlox a few bucks to get some quality time alone with T´Pol in decontamination like most of the horny males on board.

But he only managed to get her to strip and put the detox lotion all over his body with her boobs the first halfdozen times. It was totally worth it.

Okay, she didn´t repeat the sex experiment after finally banging Tucker silly ( which is the first rule of every scientific research - not having wild sex......but to repeat the experiment ) but it is not know if it was because of disappointment or because she was afraid she would like it too much. And in the mirror universe he even helped her out during Pon Farr.

There is this rumor that Pon Farr, the thing that turns all female vulcans into absolute nymphos worse than a cat in heat, was just a cheap attempt by the writers to get a bigger male audience. Well, I`m up for anything that lets T´Pol show her naked body. I bet the line to her bedroom goes through the whole ship during that period of the year and all the male " members " of the crew are taking turns at her as long as it lasts. Too bad the " Captain´s privilege " means he can cut line whenever he wants.

Now Pon Farr sounds hot and all, but I´m not sure I could wait another seven years before a lass like T'Pol wanted to explore her biological urges.

Although you would probably need seven years just to recover from getting your brains banged out by T´Pol every day during Pon Farr.

Jolene Blalock's Vulcan portrayal helped keep Star Trek : Enterprise in the limelight, but it was her time spent in decontamination and applying " neuropressure "to colleagues that re - ignited my warp engines.

Reading some online threats you could think Jolene Blalock was the first actress on Star Trek who was brought in to sex the show up. But as a matter of fact Marina Sirtis was on tv long before rocking the cleavage and the best parts of some episodes were Marina breathing heavily.

That´s all for Today´s post, happy 42nd Jolene and many happy returns !

We continue with the celebrity birthdays in the video section and first up is german MILF Barbara Schöneberger a.k.a. Boobara Schöneberger or Barbara Schöne Berge depending on which Freudian Slip you tend to.

The talk show host / tv presenter who likes to see herself as a comedian and entertainer turns 43 but I think she could have made quite a career if she would have used her obvious talents more ( 40DDs at her best time ).

I´m not saying she should have done adult movies but her agent did her a disservice when he let her go in the singing / comedy direction when her body was clearly made for nude sex scenes in rated eighteen movies.

Two other hot cinema sexbombs celebrate their anniversaries on this very day. Eva Mendes ( 43 ), who was in two comic adaptions, none of them very good : GHOST RIDER, which is considered to be the " good " Ghost Rider movie after SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE and Frank Miller´s THE SPIRIT movie. At least you can see Miss Mendes´ naked buttocks in the last one.

You also get a quick glance at her fantastic backside briefly in Training Day.

Daimn, Eva has the prototype of a perfect heart shaped ass. I bet Denzel was really happy that she reconsidered quitting her acting career to star in that movie because you know he tapped those luscious latin nalgas  !

Speaking of naked buttocks and things that suck hard, if there ever was a movie actress whose full bodied, luscious lips were just made for giving men oral pleasure without end it´s skin flick veteran Rena Riffel who turns 48. The bendable blonde wiggled her whats - it in such cult movies like Undercover Heat, Showgirls and Striptease but also appeared in the god awful Mulholland Drive. Well, everybody can slip up. Anyway, she has upgraded a lot of bad movies with her appearances so thanks for that.

Since I covered most of Today´s birthdays last year - and I could not find a music video by MC Solar I had heard before - I want to include a few from the pile I usually skip. But since I am already hard one the razor´s edge about what is still safe for work I am wiling to include a few riskier ones.

Now Showgirls has gone from being the allegedly worst movie of all time to one of the most common guilty pleasures with a cult following and Rena Riffel who starred in it has even managed to finance a sequel Showgirls 2 - Penny´s From Heaven ( no, this is not an error since Penny is the name of Rena´s character in the first movie ). You can find the trailer and some clips at YouTube but there is no doubt that the production standards are not as high as in the original movie. Rena also starred in Striptease and I finally found the making off but I think I am saving that one until my next Demi Moore post and instead I am including the much post poned video with fitness guru Zuska Light ( I have no idea if that is her real name or what ) who could easily take it up with Jolene Blalock or Elizabeth Berkley.

I picked this one because of her outfit which really emphasizes her big bust and slender midsection ( just look at those ill abs ) and it being one of the few available in a high resolution and normally she explains every workout in a extra video step by step - how to do the exercises, possible alternatives if you can´t do strenuous exercises and how to breathe - but the embedding on that one has been disabled so you have to look for it yourself. And no matter if you actually do the exercise or just watch her doing it I am guaranteeing that at the end you will be covered in sweat.

The next video is not risky in a sexual explicit way but there is a warning before the actual trailer so I think it´s safer to put it here than in a regular post. This is for Stan Lee´s Lucky Man, a show I was not aware of which apparently is already in its second season. As far as I can make out the main protagonist comes into possession of a charm bracelet that grants its wearer constant luck. Which sounds like a dream come true but apparently this luck comes at the expense of others. I don´t know if this show is well known in America but here we didn´t hear anything about it. With all the constant buzz about upcoming shows like Iron Fist or Legion you might think they would make a bit of promotion for this but I guess the fact that they didn´t is because Stan Lee did not make this show together with the Disney guys. Does anybody out there have more information on this ?

I want to dial things down and close the post with a final birthday shoutout to the late great Jean Tabary who created one of the best comics in the whole world Iznogoud ( or Isnogud if you live in Germany ) about which I already wrote a lengthy post after his passing in 2009 .

Usually I don´t have that many comic related videos for my german readers but I found this clip - from arte naturellemente - about Jean Tabary´s son who seems to have inherited his drawing talent and continues the series.
