TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN

Since both Bart Sears and Mark Texiera celebrate a birthday Today and I have already done posts on both of them ( two on Bart Sears last year ) and I can´t do two posts on one day this year they get to share a post.

One of last year´s Bart Sears posts was a small retrospective of his work so this year I´m going to post more stuff from his legendary run on JUSTICE LEAGUE EUROPE which now - finally - has been released in trade form.

Longtime readers probably expected more Power Girl pictures as for me Bart Sears is the quintessential Power Girl artist but I already wrote a lot about her last year and I don´t want to simply re - post stuff in this post.

So far DC has made various attempts at a Power Girl comic and so far they have failed to various degrees because they can´t seem to grasp the obvious : put Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis on the book as writers and get Bart Sears to draw it, make Guy Gardner or the Flash, Wally West, the co - star and the book practically writes itself. I tell you, one of the main problems with comic companies is that they try to re - invent the wheel.

On the other side they still stick to some outdated tropes like a secret identity when Walter Simonson has shown that some super heroes can work without an alter ego. In the case of Power Girl a secret identity is also more difficult to maintain because while I can believe that not many people would look at Clark Kent twice no guy with a pulse would oversee Kara´s giant power girls. And according to most artists there are not that many women with her impressive mammary might around so it would not take long to put two and two together. Another point against a secret identity is that with her obvious superior physique logical job offerings would be in the adult movie industry, as a stripper or at least as a super model. With an emphasis on the super part. And I can´t picture Kara in such a position ( metaphorically speaking, I can OF COURSE picture Power Girl as a porn star thanks in big part to the tireless efforts of the good Mister Zimmerman, whom I would put on a Power Girl comic book if I was DC´s head honcho ) as it just doesn´t fit her character - no pun intended.

She could try a job in law enforcement but - again - because she looks like a walking blow up sex doll she would probably end up in the vice squad as a decoy for all the city´s sexual offenders - which naturally includes her horny superiors who would take advantage of her any chance they get.

Not to mention her lecherous colleagues who constantly try to get her drunk during stake out so they can pump her full of illegal sex drugs and f - word her brains out in the no tell hotel room the police department pays.

Coming back to Wally West, Yesterday I was all set to do another FLASH FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN post ( I had already put all the pages of the next issue into a folder ) when I stumbled over a few preview pages of DC´s REBIRTH one shot. Okay, apparently none other than Wally West - the REAL Wally West and not those effed up versions DC has been doing the last years - makes his triumphant return to whatever this new not - rebooted version of the DC universe is called. From what I could see online he first tries to contact Batman ( I´m not sure if this is an homage or a blatant rip - off of CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS ) before he finds Barry Allen . As always you have to take the good with the bad where DC is concerned as there are now TWO Wally Wests loose in the DC universe, the original and the one from the new tv series, as they obviously need to pander to the non comic reading crowd but I´ll take my chances and it seems I´m not the only one who gives offerings to the gods for the return of the One, the Only, the True Scarlet Speedster. So one of the reasons why I didn´t write a FLASH FRIDAY post - the other reason involves hasian cosplay goddess Yaya Han but we will get back to that later - was that I placed a comic order to get REBIRTH ( as well as the missing issues of THE SHADE miniseries, one of the downsides of finally emptying my comic subscription box at the Sammlerecke in Esslingen ) and we´ll see if there are more books with Wally West to check out. Anyway, it´s good to finally have MY Flash back !

Now you´re probably wondering how I´m going to make the segueway from Bart Sears´ JUSTICE LEAGUE EUROPE and Mark Texiera and GHOST RIDER but have no fear, one more time it´s Power Girl to the rescue !

A big part of my Mark Texiera birthday post in 2014 ( wow, has it really been that long ? ) was about issue 430 of THE MIGHTY THOR by Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz and Al Milgrom because I mainly bought it because Ghost Rider was a guest star and it brought me back to reading Thor. So I wanted to add more pictures from select Mark Texiera series this year.

I also have a trade paperback recommendation as I have read PUNISHER : NIGHTMARE since I last wrote about Mark Texiera. A good story with great artwork by Mark - that you can get for around eleven bucks - although I would not recommend it for diehard fans of the Ennisher as the Frank Castle in this story is definitely more rooted in the real work with a lot of introspective thoughts harkening back to his PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL stories. There is also a PUNISHER IN SPACE trade but so far I have shied away from it since I haven´t found a single review that was even half positive. I also have A HERO`S DEATH from IDW in my amazon cart so maybe I can give you a review of that on next year´s Mark Texiera post.

Before we come to the rather long link section of this post you probably want to know how Yaya Han came to be one of the reasons I didn´t do the FLASH FRIDAY post Yesterday and - besides the obvious one - the thing is that I wanted to add another animated Yaya Han GIF from her Scarlet Witch cosplay as I have had various requests clamoring for her exotic charms. Naturally the first thing I did was look for it online but as usual in the end I had to do one myself. Which I find a bit strange. Supposedly Yaya Han is all about the boobs and less about the cosplay - at least if you read what people write online and in the comment section of her videos on YouTube - but when you look at her and Jessica Nigri´s presence on the internet ( as Jessica Nigri is Yaya Han´s biggest rival as cosplay sexbomb ) you will notice that there are less GIFs of Yaya Han than there are of Jessica Nigri. And going even further there a at least a dozen videos of Jessica Nigri´s breast cosplay moments while I still haven´t found a single one of this kind about Yaya Han. I´m not entirely sure what that means.

What it meant Yesterday was that I spent too much time making all the individual screenshots to do a post afterwards. I have made a very short GIF of what I have done so far but I´m afraid that besides cutting all the screenshots I also have to make them smaller to get longer GIFs. That will take a while so don´t expect any of these GIFs to pop up soon and maybe somebody out there with a better programm than imgflip can make a few of these and save me some time. It would really be greatly appreciated !

Today´s title is a little throwback to 80s movie sequels which always had this tag line. Those who were already readers of this little blog last year know this is a re - post but there are a few things I wanted to add to last year´s post taking advantage of Alyssa Milano´s 44th birthday ( and yes, I got her age wrong last year ) even if the new additions are a bit risky.

Because of the new stuff I have cut all the non - essential portions where I have not added anything which is fine if you have already read the old post but if not use the link above. Now hot Alyssa Milano is of course best known as the most charming, sexiest and all around greatest of all the Halliwell witches, Phoebe Halliwell on the cult tv show CHARMED.

Before that she starred in the tv hit WHO´S THE BOSS ? where she grew up in front of the national tv audience. I vividly remember SELLING SAM SHORT ( season 8, episode 4 ) in which puberty has already hit certain areas of her body in particular her chest. Alyssa is at that delicate threshold young women reach when their breasts are already fully grown but the rest of the body hasn´t had time to catch up. She is wearing a green top that is straining heavily under her grown up breasts. I found the episode on YouTube but the quality is too bad to make an animated GIF.

But back to Alyssa Milano. During her time on WHO´S THE BOSS ? she produced and starred in her own workout video called TEEN STEAM, which ( despite its quasi - raunchy title ) was an exercise video for kids -- and was absolutely never used as an entertainment piece for guys in their parents' basements. I´m sure nobody used this tape of Alyssa´s tight and fit teenage body stretching, flexing and bending for recreational reasons.

I have to apologize because when I did this post last year I totally forgot about Double Dragon where Alyssa Milano´s body was booming and she put her firm teenage butt cheeks on display in a pair of cut off jeans.

After that italian - american actress Alyssa Milano got our italian beef swelling as she was trying to get away from her good girl image, slutting it out and getting naked in a few movies like POISON IVY II where her male co star got to live out every horny Samantha Micelli fan´s sexual fantasy.

But my favorite is the vampire movie. I´m saying the vampire movie because here in Germany it´s called EMBRACE OF THE VAMPIRE, KISS OF THE VAMPIRE or PASSION OF THE VAMPIRE depending on which tv station shows it. Alyssa who had played Tony Danza's daughter, teaching viewers the joys of watching a young girl develop, then buy a bra to handle her blossoming charms, and finally lose her virginity lost the bra and her massive talent spilled over onto the big screen. In this erotic direct to video classic she embraced more than gothic occultism, but lesbianism with a nymphomaniac Charlotte Lewis and threesomes too. Alyssa´s body in this one is incredible and she has her breast nude scenes in this one.

In the same year Alyssa starred in an episode of OUTER LIMITS where she didn´t leave much to the imagination thanks to the lower restrictions of the Sci Fi channel. She was well on her way to become a sexsymbol.

After that she went on to star in CHARMED where her 36C 23 36 measurements got the better of spoiled brat Shannon Doherty who left the series to be replaced by Rose Mc Gowan. Anyway, none of the other Halliwell sisters really did much for me where sex appeal is concerned.

Come on, you know Alyssa is the only reason why we guys watch the show. It´s to see her as a amazon, stripper, genie, harem girl or mermaid.

And that´s not counting all of her appearances where she just squeezed her huge overdeveloped XXL boobs into impossibly tight corsages.

When Rose McGowan joined the cast she and Alyssa entered a weekly competition to see who could wear the skimpiest outfits, wear a bikini more times and generally display their nipples or showcase their boobs.

Since Alyssa knew that her body is the reason why people watch the show, this continued even after she took the reigns as a producer.

Happy male viewers were treated to boobage, sideboobs, cleavage, buttocks and nipples from both women for an impressive eight years.

Now after the fiasko with the CHARMED DVDs around Christmas last year I bought all the remaining seasons in one order when they were available for a much cheaper price. When I started watching the show I expected to have to wait until maybe the third or fourth season to get to the good stuff because I knew some of my favorite scenes ( seen farther above ) are in the fifth season but Alyssa steals the scene from the get go.

After the third season Shannon Doherty leaves the cast ( her character dies in the series ) and Rose McGowan comes in as a long lost half sister.

CONAN`S DAUGHTER : " I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH DOCTOR DOOM ! "

This changed the dynamic of the show considerably because Shannen´s character Prue had been the oldest sister, a role which Holly´s character Piper had to fulfill now. And Alyssa´s character Phoebe, who had always been the plucky and irresponsible youngster of the group became kind of a mentor for Rose´s character Paige trying to get her to avoid all the mistakes she herself made. Like the regeneration on DOCTOR WHO the show gained new life and went on to become a world wide success that is still in reruns which makes it difficult for a new version to compete with.

So while the departure of Shannen Doherty may have been for the best it´s difficult to find out the real reason for this. There are stories that both did it with Julian McMahon who played Cole but most sources say that while Julian WAS with with Shannen Alyssa was dating co star Brian Krause. I tried to unravel this as best as I could but keep in mind that as somebody who was not there when it happened I have no inside intel and have to rely on outside sources. So this is probably not the whole truth.

Now I found the following on a chat so I don´t know how accurate it is. Since I didn´t write it it´s in italic type except for the parts I added. I DID take the liberty to cut parts and shorten or lengthen it for a better fit.

CHARMED started out as CHARLIE`S ANGELS with witchcraft, and a vehicle for Shannen Doherty. Spelling assured Shannen that none of the drama surrounding BEVERLY HILLS90210 would affect the show and her star status. And that the production would make this her vehicle. Spelling was a master at promotion, everyone turned in curious to see a spelling show with Shannen at the helm. Holly was a new actress with small credits, having been a supporting cast member on Picket Fences. Holly was brought in as a friend for Shannen, upon her request. Shannen´s input was asked in the earlier stages of development, including the casting process for her sisters. Then the last minute replacement of Lori Rom ( who quit after shooting the pilot ) by Alyssa threw everything off.

Shannen's lead status slowly changed according to the viewers who tuned in to see Alyssa and her big tittes ( not my words ) after a few seasons.

It was then retooled to give Alyssa the love story and other plots to keep male viewership, and Shannen felt her suggestions and requests for storylines and direction was minimized because Alyssa " popped " and production took advantage of her sex symbol status. Shannen felt her contractual agreements weren't being honored and her courtship between Spelling had waned. She felt the three actresses should work towards a less " soapy " alternative. Earlier episodes show this transition from a crime / supernatural drama into a camp soapfest. Shannen felt that her time on the series was at an end, and requested to be let go from her contract. She felt the show wasn't as good as it could´ve been.

Now there are two conflicting stories. In one version Shannen went to Spelling and said that he either fired Alyssa or she would walk which resulted in Shannen leaving the show. In another Alyssa was the one that gave the ultimatum. The crew was not overjoyed with Shannen leaving because while they didn´t love Shannen, they preferred her over Alyssa.

Alyssa and Holly were at odds over what they should do. Alyssa felt the show was fair at giving storylines and wanted to keep the trajectory of the viewership. Holly felt obligated to and a sense of friendship with Shannen Doherty and wanted to band together to work towards a mutual ground with production. Because of this tension, there were some hard feelings around, mostly between Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano.

Alyssa's contract of course had been renegotiated as well as Holly's and that is why the two stayed longer. Rose came around this time, and CHARMED survived the shake up with the cast feeling happy about that.

Shannen left with her rights intact to receive royalties and percentages from the show, and she didn't care if they let her go. She had money still coming in from the series run, and the DVD sales. So in all, she made a lot of money. Also, her reputation remained intact as well, she felt that her time on CHARMED showed that she could be professional.

BEYOND THE CHARMED LIFE : OF CITY SPINNERS AND MISTRESSES

Since the bonus part of this post will be all CHARMED I should probably cover the other series she was in. After WHO´S THE BOSS she played Jennifer Mancini on MELROSE PLACE which I initially watched because of all the hot babes like Daphne Zuniga, Marcia Cross ( she had a storyline where she went crazy which in tv terms means" nymphomanic ", what a performance ! ), Stacy Haiduk or Lisa Rinna ( her lips are sexier than Angelina Jolie´s ). Later on I watched it because of Alyssa and her brother Dr. Michael Mancini on the show whom I always called Wylie Coyote because he always had very elaborate plans to get what he wants.

In those shows the guys and girls are always trying desperately to get together with a certain partner only to loose interest and start betraying them with somebody else as soon as they have accomplished their goal. In any case, the life lesson that I learned from Wylie is that when you start lying you stick with it. Because even if you would tell the truth people would not believe that now you are telling the truth and what you said earlier was a lie. So even if they find out you lied you have to say you didn´t. Because if you were not lying but it looks like you are lying because there is some proof against you what would you do ? You would say that you are not lying. Which is the only thing you could do. And in the end lying is always better than telling the truth. Ask any politician.

Speaking about politicians on SPIN CITY she played Meg, the daughter of New York mayor Randall M Winston Jr who was always causing trouble for Michael J Fox´s character who was the mayor´s chief political adviser.

I would have liked to see more episodes of the show but in Germany it was shown closed to the public by putting it in ridiculous time slots.

First it was shown at two o´clock after midnight and then at five o´clock in the morning when nobody could see it. Later on it was shown in the afternoon during the weekends. They always do that with american hit shows like NORTHERN EXPOSURE or SEINFELD so that they don´t get good ratings and later can proclaim " Those shows may be a big hit with the uneducated americans but we germans are much more sophisticated than these stupid cowboys and not so easily entertained. " And then they go and copy every american show there is and do a horrible version of it.

Anyway, Alyssa reprised her role in 2001, the mischievous little minx.

Alyssa was on MY NAME IS EARL but since I didn´t watch many episodes ( my mother can´t stand it ) I can´t say much about it. I found the initial idea interesting - somebody trying to fix his bad karma by making a list of all the people he wronged and then putting things right - but the show is just too " redneck " for me. In lack of a better term. I know that some people get off on this kind of comedy but as someone who comes from the lower levels of society I know that just because you are poor doesn´t automatically mean you are uneducated or stupid. Was she Earl´s wife ?

Another sitcom with Alyssa I missed was ROMANTICALLY CHALLENGED. I´m not even sure if it was shown on german tv. Either it ended up the same way as SPIN CITY or it was shown on one of the cable channels you generally don´t watch like Comedy Central. It lasted - what - 6 episodes ?

The same goes for MISTRESSES. Except the six episode part, they had at least two seasons. But so far I have only seen some clips with Alyssa from the show via the internet so I don´t know anything about the quality.

Before we come to the link / video section there is the comic connection part we have to do. Yes, there is a comic part since this is still a comic blog - appearances may be deceiving. The obvious ones are that Alyssa played the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger in COMMANDO ( which was called PHANTOM COMMANDO in Germany ) and Arnold also played Robert E. Howard´s CONAN who was adapted as a comic by Marvel comics which was for the most part illustrated by the incomparable John Buscema.

Also her love interest on CHARMED, Cole, was played by Julian McMahon who also was Doctor Doom on what are now considered " the good " Fantastic Four movies and whom I first saw in this Danii Minogue video.

On the DC side of things she has done the voice of Aimee Brenner on DC SHOWCASE PRESENTS : THE SPECTRE and SUPERMAN / SHAZAM ! : THE RETURN OF BLACK ADAM and Poison Ivy on an episode of YOUNG JUSTICE.

As last year´s entertainment block was all about Alyssa Milano this year I get to cover the celebrity birthday and I have picked a few important ones - at least for me - starting with Til Schweiger who turns 53. The american movie audience knows him from Quentin Tarrantino´s history changing Inglorious Basterds and he´s Germany´s best known and most successful actor with his own production company ( when you want to be in good movies in Germany this is your only chance ) which produced such independent blockbusters like The Icebear or Knockin´ On Heaven´s Door.

A lot of people may not be familiar with Karel Svoboda´s work but for me it was always synonymous with good entertainment as he provided the music for Three Wishes For Cinderella ( which is a Christmas standard on german tv ), Maya The Bee, The Wonderful Journey Of Nils Holgerson With The Wild Geese, The Adventures of Pinocchio and Vicky The Viking ( or Wickie And The Strongmen how it was called in Germany ). There were some stinkers as he did the music for the godawful John Sinclair but the less said about that the better. I looked for Three Wishes For Cinderella on YouTube but since they had only short clips here´s an episode from Vicky The Viking. I guess he was the first cartoon hero who was a nerd because he always solved his problems with brains instead of brawn. And yes, it´s an animated episode not one of the new crappy 3D episodes.

Speaking of good tv entertainment from my youth, another birthday shoutout to the great beyond goes to Rudi Carrell whose Am Laufenden Band was THE biggest Saturday night tv show in Germany during the 70s.

Apropos 70s cult shows, I must pay homage to Gordon Jackson who is best known for playing George Cowley on The Professionals. The last time I mentioned the show on the blog I didn´t post a video because the size was so small but it seems that is all they have on YouTube. In any case, here is the first episode especially for my german readers who finally want to see the full episode instead of the cut version that aired on german tv.

We couldn´t end this post without an Alyssa Milano video and since most of the stuff about CHARMED is in the other post here is a compilation.

Like every year Christmas is approaching faster than expected ( I haven´t even done all my Christmas shopping or found the time to organize the Big Christmas Contest ) and since I don´t think my posting ratio will improve during the next weeks ( which is one of the reasons why I am writing this post in advance ) here is the first Christmas special.

It has been three weeks since I posted the first part of this and while I initially wanted to continue with the Erik Larsen Thorsday I have decided to finish this first since I have not posted as regularly as usual lately. Which, keeping in mind my erratic posting schedule, is not saying much.

As I feared Christmas is approaching faster than expected and thanks to the jobcenter which needed more paperwork for my application for continued support I had to go to Ludwigsburg this week which cost me two days - one for running the errand and one to recover from the ordeal.

What can I say ? I´m not getting younger and running errands gets more and more tiresome. Also there are only two shopping days left - or is that one and a half ? I have no idea how long shops are open on Saturday or on the 24th of December - I still have to buy AT LEAST three presents not to mention The Big Christmas Contest I was planning to do this year and which I probably have to cancel. Or at least postpone. Today I wanted to go to the bank and pay some comic orders but I got up too late and so I will have to do that Tomorrow. Yesterday I was making a new animated GIF of Yaya Han in her Scarlet Witch costume but when I tried to add a few screenshots for a better version the laptop froze and I could not finish it. Which might have something to do with the fact that I was preparing the other screenshots at the same time. As I predicted not only do I have to cut them but reduce them to half their size otherwise they are not usable. Anyway, I had to finish with the ones that were open and then I had to restart my browser and of course that was it for the animated GIF. So when I got up Today I fired up the laptop right away giving it another try but at six o´clock it still wasn´t finished so I had to break it up again to start with this post. Maybe I can give it another try later or Tomorrow.

Now you are probably wondering about the cover above and what it has to do with THOR 173. I have already used the cover of that particular issue in the first part and since I didn´t want to repeat myself - and because I am including the black and white pages of the german issues I thought why not use the german version of the cover ? I know that my reader always get a kick out of seeing the different covers from other countries.

But the thing is that in Germany THOR did not always have its own title and even back in the days of the Williams Verlag often was relegated to the role of back up feature in DIE SPINNE. So while THOR 171 and 172 was published as MARVEL COMIC SONDERHEFT 3 by Condor issue 173 was split into two parts as back up stories in DIE SPINNE 7 and 8. Not that german readers did mind much because we were happy for anything that came out and back then Condor did not publish that many comics that you could not afford to get them all. So while it may be a bit complicated for Today´s comic readers to find the german THOR issues back then you just bought all the different titles anyway so sooner or later you got all the stories.

Speaking about getting the story, when last we left our asgardian hero Goldilocks was ready to make his big entrance disguised as the fake Thor to find out to what shenanigans the Circus of Crime´s is up to and what role Ulik plays in their nefarious schemes. Let´s join the story in progress.

The second birthday I have to mention is german tv personality Annina Ucatis who turns 38 and was a candidate in my Search For Power Girl series although she didn´t look that part when she first started out.

Now I know what you are thinking but Annina did not start as a model either, she studied economics after graduating from school and became a property clerk and real estate agent. Because she always has wanted to have big breasts she went through two operations that turned her from a C cup to a DD and she decided to put the twins to good use as a model. With her augmented breasts she posed for magazines like HUSTLER.

But as she herself admits Annina had become addicted to plastic surgery and wanted to become bigger so when german surgeons denied her a third operation she went to Spain where she finally got her 42G melons.

In 2007 she was still working as a real estate agent but was fired because her breasts were too big and damaging the company´s image although her clients never complained and never had a problem with her large breasts. Anyway, Annina decided f - word all that and started a career in the porn industry and soon was Germany´s best known big bust model. For a time she was together with celebrity whore Oliver Pocher but I guess she was just too much woman for him. In 2009 she joined the cast of Big Brother where she was often shown naked or taking a shower and the network had no problem with using her double airbags to boost the ratings. Today Monique Sluyter celebrates her 49th birthday, a candidate from my JLA casting series, whom I cast as Fire a.k.a. Beatriz da Costa in the Andy Sidaris Special. She was the main reasons to watch TUTTI FRUTTI.

Originally I had posted this in my Ernie Chan tribute post but that got longer and longer so I decided to cut this and give it a post of it´s own.

So far I have always linked to my post about ITALIAN SOCCER MOM SIMONA VENTURA but lately I have added so many new GIFs to the post that it takes forever to load. So here is the new post I will be linking to.

Now for the benefit of new readers who might have missed this I should probably explain what TUTTI FRUTTI was. There was a show called COLPO GROSSO from Italy with some dancers dressed as certain fruits who would dance to a special song and when the last refrain said " chin chin " they popped their tops and the candidates had to bet ( before they opened their tops ) if they had stickers of fruits on one of their breasts or not.

If they had fruits - or rather stickers with fruits - on them the candidates would win points and if they had enough of them they could get the Euro Girls ( which sounds much sluttier now as the official european currency is the Euro ), the women who presented the european nations to strip.

Who could get the most women the most naked was the winner and the points they would score were called country points or Länderpunkte, a word that has become a household expression in Germany. It´s not unusual to hear german tv viewers say : Well, we´re not going to see any Länderpunkte in this movie. Anyway, the show was done to promote the Ecu, the new currency for a United Europe ( no, that really didn´t work out that well ) but the important part was getting to see girls strip.

Although the men always couldn´t remember which girl represented which country and just picked a country at random so often the hottest looking girls never got their turn. Like my favorite, the sexbomb in the middle.

Not only does she have a well rounded butt, legs like you wouldn´t believe and perfectly shaped torpedoes that not only are the right size but also those bikini tan lines that drive me crazy. No, on top of that she looks like the porn version of Princess Stephanie of Monaco who tried her luck as a pop star and after whom every red blooded male lusted after at that time. So since she was my favorite she was not on the Euro Girl´s roster very often and even when she was that didn´t mean she was picked. Which for me was worse then when she was not on the show because if she was not there they couldn´t pick her but if she was there and just wasn´t picked I was cursing like crazy. Anyway, since I first posted this I found a website with a lot of material about TUTTI FRUTTI ( and to which I cannot link because most of the stuff is NSFW ) including some of the names of the Euro Girls but as it couldn´t be any other way her name is not listed.

The show was adapted by various countries and it was called AY QUE CALOR in Spain and TUTTI FRUTTI in Germany. In Germany it was the show nobody watched ( or admitted watching ) but everybody saw.

When it was first shown in the 80s I was doing my military service in Munich and in my room there was cable tv - unlike at home. So every Sunday afternoon I took the ICE to Munich, bought some american comics at the station, went to the barracks, showered, shaved and watched TUTTI FRUTTI before going to sleep. And I always made sure to catch the beginning, I didn´t want to miss the big breasted hottie from the intro.

In Germany the show was hosted by Hugo Egon Balder, Tiziana and Monique Sluyter, who may be responsible for my fixation on Power Girl.

I mean it must have been around the same time when I read Bart Sear´s version of Power Girl in the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE EUROPE and when I saw Monique´s impersonation of Marilyn Monroe on TUTTI FRUTTI.

In the old comics artist Wally Wood kept making Power Girl´s breasts bigger and bigger to see how far he could take it. Or at least that´s the urban legend. Fact is that the artists after him drew her with normal proportions .... or what is considered normal for superheroines. Till Bart Sears took over the character and buffed her up and returned her to her signature breast size - at least for up until the whole NEW 52 fiasko.

When I started to read american comics the DC universe was brand new thanks to the CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS fallout and I grabbed all the series I didn´t know which included the two fisted combo of JUSTICE LEAGUE by Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire and JUSTICE LEAGUE EUROPE also by Giffen and Matteis, art by Bart Sears and inks by Pablo Marcos whom I knew from his work on DEFENDERS. I don´t know if it was fate but the very first issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE EUROPE I got was issue 4 in which Power Girl, Flash and Animal Man share a hotel room as they go to Bialya on an undercover mission. I re - read the issue a few times and I always wondered if these more human - and more horny in the case of Flash - heroes didn´t spend the waiting time in a more adult way.

What can I say ? I was doing my military service in Munich at that time which meant I had a lot of free time on my hands, a room for myself, a vivid imagination and there were practically no women around save those I saw on tv or in comics. So naturally the idea of Animal Man using some kind of pheromones for a threeway with Power Girl piqued my interest.

But back to birthday babe extraordinaire Monique Sluyter, she´s dutch and I have to say I liked her more than Tiziana who always played the goofy part. Not that Monique couldn´t be goofy but she always did it with charme and tongue in cheek humor. It also helped that she is totally hot.

Monique also always had problems with the german pronunciation - although her accent drives men crazy. Wir würfelen mit den Würfelen.

As this is a re - post I get to add new videos from my vast vault but the first one is a video I found Today. It seems RTL plans to do a Tutti Frutti revival and I´m not sure if a new version of the show can succeed since it was very much a product of its time. For some reason there is no sound.

What I find a bit strange is how did such a scene get approved when her father was producing this ? Should I be concerned that Daddy dearest put it in the script or does this say more about his employees. Maybe some disgruntled writers just decided to put his boss´ daughter into a hooker outfit and let her dance for him as payback for sleeping with his wife.

It´s in one of the two DVD sets I bought a while ago. The complete seasons have been pretty expensive for the longest time - between 40 and 50 bucks - so when they released them in two parts for under 10 bucks each I got the two most important ones. Of course now they have released new DVD collections where you get complete seasons for around 15 bucks so I have to see if I can still find the other part of the seasons I bought for less than what they now charge for a complete season. Damn.

One thing about BEVERLY HILLS that cracked me up were all the imagined problems these poor rich kids had. Because let´s face it, the rich kids may have problems too but at least they don´t have to worry about where they are going to sleep or where their next meal is coming from. Oh, my Dad won´t let me use the Mercedes and now I have to drive the Porsche to school. Or Brandon who always preferred his integrity to living in the real world. But the funniest episode - I really laughed out loud during this one - was when one of the kids realized that he became a drug addict. " But I can´t be a drug addict. Only poor people get addicted to drugs ! "

Anyway, I now had two ( or was that four ? ) reasons to watch the show.

But while Tori got her big breasts from Daddy´s money Tiffani got hers from Mother nature. The show is always on reruns but I always miss it.

Nonetheless here is one of the most memorable scenes with Tiffani.

On an episode of Beverly Hills ( episode 28 of the 8th season in Amerika and for some reason episode 27 in Germany ) Tiffani falsely thinks her boyfriend is sexually bored and buys supersexy lingerie and a bag of sextoys. But since she is mistaken her boyfriend is rather scared of her.

In real life he would be all over her. I mean, if a sexbomb with such huge hooters like Tiffani would be in my bedroom wearing black lingerie and telling me : " I´m ready for anything. ANYTHING !" ....... holy makarel !

Tiffani Thiessen also starred in SAVED BY THE BELL but I didn´t watch many episodes of the show. Even if both she and her co - star Elizabeth Berkley developed into supersexy bombshells. I remember my younger brother always watched it - they did marathons on Saturday mornings during the summer vacations in Spain - but I think I was always too busy with important stuff like reading comics or drawing superheroes or such.

Speaking about marathons with such a pair of incredibly hot sexbombs on the show it´s no wonder their male colleagues mimiked the relationships on the show by relentlessly banging their brains out behind the scenes.

Word is Tiffani was at times tagteamed by actors and even the producer and Elizabeth was especially needy about becoming her substitute in those marathon sex sessions where she was used like a blow up sex doll by all male actors. Like she had a lot of catching up to do, maybe because she played such a good girl on the show she needed them to relentlessly drill that part of her into submission to let the inner nymphomaniac free.

That´s a big part of pop culture I really never had access to so I don´t have fond memories of Tiffani Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley from that.

Man, who could have thought they´d turn into such ultimate sexbombs ?

Especially Elizabeth Berkley showed some impressive hip thrusting skills in SHOWGIRLS which left me no other option than to cast her as one of my alternate choices for Kara Fukk - Me, the Nympho Supergirl from Earth XXX in my second alternatives post for casting the Justice League movie post. I bet this was useful when she was auditioning for the part of Naomi with her portable fold - out casting couch that she carries with her anywhere.

Although widely labeled a " flop " the movie more than made its money back on video and DVD sales. I mean who is going to see a movie in the cinema where you want to rewind or see some scenes in slow motion ?

So even as SHOWGIRLS was considered a really bad movie by critics ( yeah, and we all know how much they know about movies ) when it came out it was still shown constantly on television the following years and landed on the top ten list of best movie striptease which made it one of the top guilty pleasures of movie fans. Due to a fan following that has only grown wider with the years it has even reached trash cult status.

I really have to thank Paul Verhoeven for discovering Elizabeth Berkley´s dormant stripper qualities. We always knew she was absolutely hot but who could imagine what a natural born pornstar she would turn out to be ?

But back to Tiffani. In BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 Tiffani Amber Thiessen ( I´m still referring to her as Tiffani Amber Thiessen although she goes with just Tiffani Thiessen now - maybe because her initials were TAT and she was tired of all the" tit for tat "or" tat got tits "or" tat´s big tats "jokes ) often wore bikinis or at least bikini tops or had to dress up as a prostitute because the script ( = the drooling director ) demanded it.

Those directors got it made, they just go "Okay guys, in the next four episodes Tiffani dresses up as a prostitute. And she has to do at least one striptease and two nude sex scenes in each episode. Which is really necessary for her character. Oh yeah, and send her to my trailer for .... extreme rehearsal. We have to go over the scene ... orally." Those horny perverts are to thank for that Tiffani was so often in bikinis on that show.

As for movies with Tiffani, I have seen SHE FOUGHT ALONE ( where her ex - boyfriend and BEVERLY HILLS co - star Brian Austin Green played a role ), which is your run of the mill rape drama although Tiffani has some good scenes in it, SWEET DREAMS, where she is topless but still covered and you can almost see a nipple and her strip in SON IN LAW is really the only reason to watch the movie. Unless you´re a huge Pauly Shore fan.

The movie was called SCHWIEGERSON JUNIOR in Germany because Yahho Serious´ EINSTEIN JUNIOR had just been a huge success in the cinemas.

There are two Tiffani Thiessen movies on my " to watch " list and the first one is THE LADIES MAN also starring THE FRESH PRINCE´s Karyn Parsons.

I don´t know anything about the movie besides some clips I´ve seen but it has Tiffani in lingerie so I´m already sold. What more do you need ?

One of the posts I didn´t get to do last month was a follow up to the deja vue post about Janet Jackson´s famous cover for Rolling Stone Magazine.

I already posted the best covers - including Jason Pearson´s cover for GEN 13 - in this post and I thought the topic was done. Well, last month I got an e - mail inquiry about a Janet Jackson Rolling Stone cover homage with April O´Neil from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. While I didn´t find anything to substantiate the existence of such a cover I did find out that artists all over the world have been busy and I found enough new cover homages to warrant a post. So here - again - are the best new covers.

Today´s entertainment block is mainly about two things of which the first could be summed up with the words " science " and " fiction ". Starting with Kristanna Loken, who celebrates her 37th birthday. She has been on Aliens In The Family ( never heard of that before ), Star Trek : Voyager and Sliders but she is best known as X - T, the killer robot with the killer body ( makes you wonder if there was a XXX - T model for special swinger club infiltration missions ) from Terminator 3 : Rise Of The Machines.

She has been in some comic related tv series, an episode of Lois & Clark : The New Adventures Of Superman and she was the lead character in Painkiller Jane. Now I haven´t read that many issues of the Painkiller Jane comic to be an expert but I found the tv series to be exceptionally bad written especially when it comes to the motivation of Jane. Maybe it´s a guy thing or maybe it´s just me but I expected her to need a bit more motivation than just " Because they have special powers they could be dangerous if they turn evil so we better take them out just in case. "to turn against her own kind for a shady government agency that would rather put a bullet in her head at the first sign of trouble. Especially if that includes killing them if their powers can´t be turned off. I mean, basically she´s Rachel Summers in Days Of Future Past wiping out the X - Men because they won´t let themselves be controlled by the government.

With Matt Damon who turns 46 we come to the other recurring theme of Today´s celebrity birthday section which is what I like to call kung fu fighting. As the one and only Jason Bourne he has had a lot of martial art fight scenes although he also has been in such sci fi movies as Interstellar and The Martian. Initially I wanted to post a clip with him and Jimmy Kimmel at couples therapy or the one which explains how the whole Matt Damon thing started but I will probably post those on Jimmy´s birthday.

Julia Ann celebrates her 47th birthday and while she is mostly known for her adult movies nowadays she also used to appear in various midnight movies back when Pro7 was still showing an erotic movie once a week. Her best known movie is Veronica 2030 where a pleasure android from the future which gets sent to our time by mistake becomes a lingerie model.

I always wondered why this didn´t happen with Kristanna Loken in Terminator 3. I mean why else have the built in breast enhancement ?

Back to Julia Ann, Veronica 2030 is one of the better midnight movies and her physique is at its peak in this one. Speaking of tv hit shows, Stephanie Zimbalist turns 60 who is best known as Laura Holt on Remington Steele. Here in Germany the series is finally available on DVD but I advise you to get the Best Of Remington Steele box if you think about buying the series. Because the different seasons cost 30 bucks and more while you can get the box for just 10 bucks or less if you get it as part of one of amazon´s 3 tv seasons for 25 Euros deals.

I am currently watching the episodes and I have to say that the early ones are really not doing it for me. The cast is too big, there is not as much interplay between Laura and Remington, the cases are too complicated and the whole story progresses too slow. I´m not sure if I have seen the episodes from the first season before ( it´s surely the first time I saw the origin of Remington Steele ) but I liked the episodes from the second season much more. So before you go and spend 30 bucks or more on a season get the box and see if the series still holds up for you. Okay, enough of my sales pitch, there are only a lot of music videos and bad quality Remington Steele episodes on YouTube but luckily I found this one.

We´re staying in the 80s but it´s back to martial art action with Michael Dudikoff who celebrates his 62nd birthday and who is best known for the American Ninja movies ( I loved them as a kid ) which - as bad as they are watching them as an adult - are the cusp of his cinematic oeuvre. The best of the rest are the Bounty Hunters movies, not so much for Michael Dudikoff´s performance but because of the much underrated Lisa Howard.

It´s back to science fiction as Sigourney Weaver turns 67, best known for the Alien movies which have had a lot of comic adaptions since Dark Horse secured the rights. She also appeared in the brilliant Galaxy Quest where she perfectly - and literally - filled out the part of eye candy as the blonde sexbomb Gwen DeMarco. I´ll have to re - watch that movie one of these days but I think her best scenes were cut out and ended up in the extras.

German artist Gottfried Helnwein celebrates his 68th birthday who is an outspoken comic fan and whose art has been greatly influenced by Donald Duck. He even did a cover for the german underground comic U - Comix.

Somehow the whole entertainment block seems stuck in the 80s as another movie icon from that time, Chevy Chase, turns 73 who was in all the big National Lampoon movies. By the way, as I´m always talking about giving credit to those unsung movie vixens the name of the hot lingerie vendor from National Lampoon´s Christmas Vacation is Nicolette Scorsese.

Time for another video testing the knowledge of Today´s youth and I guess there is a whole generation who only know Chevy Chase as the old guy from Community. What I think would have worked better is if they had shown them scenes from the actual movies instead of just the movie poster with the title omitted. I mean I have seen probably over thousand movies and I wouldn´t recognize most of them just by seeing the poster.

We´re staying with 80s comedy as Paul Hogan celebrates his 77th birthday. He´s best known for the Crocodile Dundee movies of which the first one is still the best - not only because of Hogan´s ex - wife Linda Kozlowski´s mindblowing bathing suit and her exposed buttocks. I wrote a post with more GIFs on her birthday which I reposted at the beginning of the year .

As strange coincidences go in that post I also mentioned Vickie Reigle, the uncredited Busenwunder waitress with the extra large double whoppers in Cannonball Run which was produced by Raymond Chow who turns 89.

Besides the Cannonball Run movies Raymond Chow´s forte is in martial arts movies and he has produced all the big names from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Cynthia Rothrock, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

Today I just want to give a quick shout out ( yeah, like that has ever worked before ) to Linda Kozlowski, who celebrates her 59th birthday.

She has left the movie business because of the roles she was offered but back when she was still looking hot she starred in the ever so popular movie series of CROCODILE DUNDEE opposite ex - husband Paul Hogan.

Yeah, leave it to the germans to come up with a subtitle that makes no sense whatsoever. First of all they always have to attach some stupid subtitle to any movie and then it must make absolutely no sense. WTF is " Crocodile Dundee - a kissable crocodile" supposed to mean ? The main character is not a crocodile, that´s just his nickname in the movie, duh.

But let´s get back to celebrity birthday babe Linda Kozlowski. Rather than for her acting abilities she´s most famous for sporting a very revealing swimsuit in the first CROCODILE DUNDEE movie which is still the best.

And I´m not only saying that because of the famous scene in which Linda revealed which incredible ass - ets she had " down under ", so to speak.

And I´m not talking about some of the lame rap videos that we have Today. Something went terribly wrong with rap videos along the way.

But like I said, as wonderful as Miss Kozlowski´s exposed derriere is, the first CROCODILE DUNDEE is a great movie in itself that was nominated for 3 Oscars and 3 Golden Globes of which Paul Hogan won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy / Musical. It also was nominated by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, the BAFTA Awards and won a BMI Film & TV Award and the Goldene Leinwand ( Golden Screen Award ) in 1987.

The sequel wasn´t as good but I want to mention it because the poster that was selected for display in movie theaters was not the first version.

This was the first draft : as you can see the color of Linda´s clothes were changed as to better display her figure and instead of being in the middle of the city Paul Hogan is now towering majestically above the skyline.

All the posters were done by movie poster veteran Dan Gouzee who did hundreds of classic movie posters like the original CLASH OF THE TITANS or the James Bond flicks MOONRAKER and A VIEW TO A KILL. Especially that last one was very popular in its time ( in great part due to featured model / singer / performance artist Grace Jones ) and I remember that I was just one of the many teenagers who had it mounted on his wall.

He also did the posters for SUPERMAN II and SUPERMAN IV. The first is not so well known because usually they go with the photo movie poster.

For me the new Superman movies were always a big deal and you could read all the latest news in the SUPERMAN BATMAN comics from Ehapa.

There were always some extra stuff in the comics like articles, posters, games or prize competitions, sometimes even cash prizes or tv sets.

Back then I was a semi regular reader which means that I always bought an issue when George Perez or Jose Luis Garcia Lopez did the interior art.

Which doesn´t mean that I didn´t buy other issues now and then because sometimes I did buy it just because of some crazy story but every time George or Jose Luis did an issue I was all over it. The names of artists were not always given but I think I started noticing that the same names came up in all the stories I especially liked. And I began looking for that around the time when they had started doing that on a regular basis.

Since the name of the title was SUPERMAN BATMAN there was also a lot of Jim Aparo stuff in the books from issues of THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD,

BATMAN or DETECTIVE COMICS and everything in between. Although sometimes it´s hard to find out from which series the covers where and I suspect there are some that were exclusively done for the german issues.

Looking at the SUPERMAN II poster I realize that I forgot that Valerie Perrine was in it. That´s one thing they botched in SUPERMAN RETURNS.

Many people don´t know it but centerfold Valerie Perrine was also in one of the best known scenes from the first CANNONBALL RUN movie ( I´m not sure who did the movie poster for that one but Dan Gouzee did the poster for the sequel ) and the reason for that is that she´s uncredited.

The most remembered scenes from that movie involve the Lamborghini Babes played by Tara Buckman and cult siren Adrienne Barbeau. I have written about Adrienne before who was in such cult classics like THE FOG, SWAMP THING, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and - arguably - CREEPSHOW.

Now I don´t think I have to explain the Lamborghini Babes whose main trick to avoid getting hassled by the cops is flashing some cleavage.

Which doesn´t work on this cop played by Valerie Perrine.

Speaking about Cannonball Run, one of my pet pevees on this blog is celebrating all the brave actresses who turn unsufferable dreck into bearable entertainment by taking their clothes off or at least show what their Mama gave them and who don´t get enough recognition for that.

Now if you have seen Cannonball Run you will remember the hot waitress with the extra - large double whoppers in the opening scene whose name is not in the opening credits, in the end credits or on any internet page ( and believe me fella, I´ve looked ). Well, just recently I found a clip with some scenes of Farrah Fawcett from the movie and her scene is also in there. So far I just called her The Busenwunder Waitress but now I can tell you that her real name is Vickie Reigle. Now in Germany Vickie is not really a good name for a woman - just ask german singer Nikki who had to suffer a lot of dirty jokes because of her name ( what rhymes with" Nikki ? " ). So to be actually called Vickie - not a good thing in Germany.

There are quite a lot of tangents in this post but before closing the subject of birthday babe Linda Kozlowski for Today I want to include a video with her famous thong swimsuit scene from CROCODILE DUNDEE.

I always wanted to do a post on HONEY WEST but since I never was sure if it was a comic series based on a tv show or a tv show based on a pulp novel series or a pulp novel series based on a comic I never did a post.

To tell the truth, I´m still not sure but at least I know for sure that there was a tv show with actress Anne Francis. Last year I posted episode 3 titled The Abominable Snowman - which is also the name of a Doctor Who serial and a film from Britain´s Hammer Studios starring Peter Cushing to which we may or may not come in upcoming Hammer movie discussions. Anyway, since I skipped over it here is episode 2 The Owl And The Eye.

It´s been a while since I posted a cosplay video but I just had to post this one with Ardella´s Power Girl cosplay . Okay, one reason for that is that she really puts a lot of effort into filling out the costume ( I won´t even pretend that I´m not meaning this literal here, who am I kidding ? ).

The other one is that the optimist in me had hoped the whole cosplay bashing was a thing of the past but it seems it still continues . Even as someone who has been a comic fan for decades I still have problems with these kind of trench warfare but before I get all exited and launch a long rant I´m posting this link to a video where Ardella explains the real problems with sexy cosplay instead ( which sadly is how other people respond to it ). Be that as it may that should never prevent people from having fun - which is what cosplaying is all about - so here´s the video.

And I couldn´t possibly talk about the problems in the cosplay community without mentioning hasian cosplay ambassador extraordinaire Yaya Han.

I still haven´t given up on doing a post about my favorite costumes by Yaya Han ( like Chun Li ) even if I have problems keeping it professional and not let myself get distracted by her stunning physical attributes. I always have to remind myself that she is a real person, not just somebody to fantasize about without end - watching a few episodes of Heroes of Cosplay helps with that - but then I also would like to see her in a movie since she clearly has the talent and body ( 40D opai ! ) to become a star.

Nevertheless I have just found too many videos with her I want to post that it´s impossible to cram it all into one post even if I do someday miraculously get around to do it. So here´s a new one with Yaya as Aion .

And speaking about favorite costumes, if Yaya needs any ideas as who to cosplay next how about this one ? Surely she has the skills to pull it off !

Since I don´t have any videos for Today´s other celebrity birthdays and I´m not sure if I can safely put a video from The Voice Kids in this post here is another one with the sexy Hyuna. I know she has her fans among the readers and I like to include her in the posts when I mention Yaya.

The more things change the more things stay the same, as the french say, so it should not surprise you that in the first post of 2017 I am still dealing with stuff I had planned to do back in 2016 but did not get around to do.

Now if you are a regular reader of the blog you know that I have not been totally inactive these past few days and that indeed there HAVE been new posts but they have disappeared from the blog after being finished.

Well, the reason for that is simple : those were cult siren re - posts which I wrote in advance and which will be on the blog at the proper date. As I have mentioned a few times I don´t always feel in the mood to talk about comics and rather than delivering an uninspired and probably boring post I write one of these. Also, it helps to get more regular content on the blog as they should be quick to write. I´m saying quick because that is not always the case. Anyway, there are five celebrity birthdays where I did an updated version for this year in advance. There is one where I just went over last year´s post because there really was nothing new to add and the last one - well, since I already did posts on that particular celebrity for a few years I will decide if it warrants a new post when the time comes. I also found a few new clips of a real life Power Girl that I want to include in the next few posts but I want to do a few animated GIFs and because of the video size I have to make them frame by frame so that is on the back burner. In any case, I have most of the cult siren posts for this month covered - unless something unexpected comes up which so far always happened - and I´m trying to not overdo it with the hot sexbombs. The biggest problem will be to do the posts in - between on a regular basis.

Because lately I have tried to get out of bed earlier and do the posts in the daytime but as you can see from the lack of posts since December that has not worked out so far. I really have no idea how to improve that as I also have not been feeling too well since Christmas. Speaking about Christmas, that is another thing that fell totally flat and I´m not meaning just The Big Christmas Contest which did not happen. All year long I am on the lookout for good material for different posts and after collecting a lot of stuff in a special CHRISTMAS folder I did not even get to do one proper Christmas post. Okay, over the last 10 years I have done enough Christmas posts but still it would have been nice to do something special this year.

That is also one of the reasons why I haven´t done a look back on 2016 - there is not much to add. Although there may be a post in the next few weeks about what 2017 holds in store for us because quite frankly the comics that have excited me most are those coming in 2017 starting with the new BATMAN & THE OUTSIDERS hardcover at the end of February.

The monthly titles I still read can be counted on the fingers of one hand and I am slowly but surely leaving the big two behind wrapping up my trade reading list. At Marvel I am now officially done with DAREDEVIL so the only title I´m following is SILVER SURFER - for the moment. It is THE best Doctor Who comic without Doctor Who in it and as long as we don´t get Mike Allred on a proper Doctor Who book this is as good as it gets.

Which doesn´t mean that I won´t be buying any Marvel books this year, quite the contrary. But it´s not going to be new titles. What I have on my list are trades that contain old material especially a few Epic Collections.

I know that I was not the biggest fan of the Epic Collections when the format started and there still has not been any change in the narrow gutters. But at least you can open the books up all the way and so far none of the pages have come out. Which may be the right moment to do a bit of bargain book pimping. This is more for my german readers than for anybody else as amazon Germany offers AMAZING SPIDER - MAN : COSMIC ADVENTURES and MOON KNIGHT : SHADOWS OF THE MOON for 26 EUROS.

The first collection contains all of Spider - Man´s ACTS OF VENGEANCE crossovers so if you want to read those stories and don´t want to cough up 100 shekels for the omnibus hardcover here is your chance. The art is the usual mix of Erik Larsen, Sal Buscema and Alex Saviuk from that time with a bit of Gil Kane thrown in for good measure. The final piece of resistance however is the MOON KNIGHT Epic Collection. Most of the 19 issues are drawn by Bill Sienkiewicz and you can see him evolve from a great Neal Adams clone to the artist he would become on NEW MUTANTS.

Both of these books clock in at over 500 pages and do I have to mention that they usually go for around 40 bucks ? There a five copies left of each.

Speaking of NEW MUTANTS, the first of the Epic Collections coming out this year I want to mention is NEW MUTANTS - RENEWAL which collects MARVEL GRAPHIC COLLECTION 4, which introduced the team and the first 12 issues of the ongoing title by Claremont, Bob McLeod and Sal Buscema.

Since I just recently completed my NEW MUTANTS CLASSIC trades I will probably not buy this myself but I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Forget the All - New, All - Different Marvel NOW stuff which is oh - so relevant and oh - so political correct. THIS is the best teen team book Marvel has ever made and there is nothing past, present or in the future coming out from Disney that comes even close. This is the gold standard that all the following titles aspired to be and failed miserably and there will never been teen mutant angst, adventure, romance or camaraderie on this level of excellency again. Chris Claremont was at the height of his game and a phenomenon onto himself writing all the mutant titles back then and the continuity was still tight like you wouldn´t believe. With the final issues of this collection Sal Buscema takes over the pencils ( well, his name is going to come up a lot when you talk about these books since he drew the entire Marvel universe at one time or another ) but the biggest chunk is glorious Bob McLeod art. He´s one of the veteran´s who doesn´t get much work lately - probably because people think his style doesn´t fit the grim and gritty realism of the Marvel NOW and DC REBIRTH worlds - but he is one of the best artists out there and I have always enjoyed his work, be it on Marvel´s merry mutants or DC´s post - Crisis Man of Tomorrow.

Back to the Epic Collections, the NEW MUTANT trade comes out on March the 21st which is one full week before the next humdinger : EXCALIBUR - THE SWORD IS DRAWN by Chris Claremont ( I told you he wrote all the mutant titles back then, didn´t I ? ) and the often underrated Alan Davis.

Now there might be some readers out there who would veto this and tell me that he did some issues of the Frank Cho Hulk abomination but while that may be true he was not the title´s first choice as regular artist. Say what you want but among all the announcements of new flashy Disney titles to dazzle the comic book reading audience the name of Alan Davis doesn´t come up very much. He is not their first choice when it comes to big series and apart from some short mini series like the recent INFINITY ENTITY by Jim Starlin fans have to search his work with a magnifying glass.

Which is one of the reasons why I´m so thrilled that EXCALIBUR finally is available to a new generation. There have been some trades but they are all out of print and if you can find one it always goes for ridiculous prices.

It is one of the cruelest jokes of fate that the title never found the large audience it deserved just because it was named EXCALIBUR instead of X - CALIBUR but for those few that didn´t let that small distinction deter them the reward has been incalculable. If you are one of the fortunate few who have discovered the series it is one of your most cherished treasures - for all else it is the best comic series you never read. Now I could go on praising the book for hours but that would be boring and in the end words really fall short to bring across the complete Airwolf - ness that is EXCALIBUR. Luckily I did a post on Alan Davis´ birthday this year with the complete EXCALIBUR SPECIAL EDITION so you can read that to wet your appetite. Apart from that special the Epic Collection has the first 11 issues of the ongoing series ( which means it stops just before The Cross Time Caper starts ) plus material from other Marvel publications.

Man, back when I did the Alan Davis birthday post I wrote that maybe this could prompt Disney to do if not an omnibus or a hardcover at least an Epic Collection and now it will happen. Now this is either an incredible coincidence or only a matter of time since they are putting out a lot of these and sooner or later there have to be some that appeal to me. But I still wonder if my constant demand to reprint certain runs has not had some kind of influence. Case in point : THOR - IN MORTAL FLESH which comes out in August and collects THOR issues 401 to 418 and ANNUAL 14.

How many posts have I written about the THOR run by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz ? How often have I mentioned that this run undeservedly gets shoved to the side when people talk about great runs on THOR because it had the misfortune to follow on the heels of Walter Simonson´s iconic THOR epos ? Heck, all the posts that I wrote about how the Eric Masterson Thor was MY Thor that is how the whole THORSDAY series started. Like with the NEW MUTANTS Epic Collection I already have all - or most of it since I am not always sure with my THOR issues - in single issue form. But I still might get this because it would look so nice on the shelf next to THOR - WAR OF THE PANTHEONS. Ah, what the heck, I will probably also buy the EXCALIBUR collection just so I don´t have to unpack my precious floppies.

Once again it is time to wrap things up for Today and while I didn´t even get started on the long road that led me to THORSDAY WITH ERIK LARSEN I did manage to write about Thor so this does qualify as a THORSDAY post.

Since Tomorrow is a holiday AND somebody in my family celebrates her birthday I don´t know if I can do a FLASH FRIDAY post so the next post - which will be post number 799 - might be the Linda Kozlowski re - post.

It seems that I have been trying to do this post forever as something has always come up since this post was originally scheduled to appear on the blog - seven weeks ago. Today I just want to give a quick shout out ( yeah, like that has ever worked before ) to Linda Kozlowski, who celebrates her 59th birthday.

And I´m not only saying that because of the famous scene in which Linda revealed which incredible ass - ets she had " down under ", so to speak.

Daimn, baby got some serious back ! Man, can you imagine how hot it would have been if she would have starred in one of those rap videos ?

And I´m not talking about some of the lame rap videos that we have Today. Something went terribly wrong with rap videos along the way.

When I saw my first rap videos - and this was way back when Mtv was still playing music videos 24 hours a day - there´d be a song about crossing the street to buy some ice cream and there would be at least a dozen scantily clad, super hot girls in it shaking their behinds, dancing very suggestive.

Then there was that time when the guys in rap videos would talk about having intercourse and with how many women and the video would be about flowers, ponies and rainbows. Something suggestive like a train going through a tunnel would be the absolute limit. Thankfully this was just a passing trend and we are back to rap videos with plenty of hot babes in it. And just in time to benefit from the whole twerking craze.

Today I wasn´t feeling well so I thought I would not do a post but for some reason I couldn´t stop thinking about Nick Knatterton. At first I just re - read the post I had written but then I replaced a video that had been deleted from YouTube and then I found the black and white movie Nick Knatterton´s Abenteuer - Der Raub der Gloria Nylon from 1959 and then one thing led to another. As it always happens. So in the end I decided before I go and add the new stuff to do a re - post of the original version.

WORLD`S GREATEST COMICS : NICK KNATTERTON

Today I want to write a bit about one of the biggest german cult comics of all times, which is Manfred Schmidt´s masterpiece Nick Knatterton .

Which is no hyperbole on my part, I assure you of that. Nick Knatterton is one of the best known german comics of my generation because it was one of the many comics that was published in a magazine, QUICK.

Yes, back then magazines often included comic strips to attract younger readers although to be fair : with it´s stabs at the politics of its time and the often quite exaggerated physique of the sexy female characters in the strip it was probably enjoyed by adults as well. The black and white comic strip ran in two weekly installments in 11 to 38 parts from 1950 to 1959.

You know, people always say that we are now living in a new golden age of comics with all the adaptions being the big blockbuster movies but you don´t see that many comic strips in magazines now. Maybe I´m biased here but I remember that when I was a kid comics were in magazines, newspapers, the local school paper - everywhere. And you didn´t have to go to a special comic shop to get your comics. You could buy them at the stationary shop or the corner shop or the gas station and even if you lived in a tiny town there was a Mom and Pops store where they sold comics.

The condition of the comics was not as pristine as the copies you might get bagged and boarded in Todays comic shops and you could forget about reading consecutive issues but nobody cared about that since comics were a disposable read and more episodic in nature with little or no changes from issue to issue. Marvel Comics was one of the first companies to break the mold with the first stories that built upon another, continuity evolving from issue to issue, the hero getting older and changing and plotlines that went on for years with repercussions for the characters.

It was the reason for Marvel´s huge success turning them into the second big american comic company when it started. But let´s not dwell too much on that before I start to think about the mess Disney has turned it into.

At this point I should probably explain what the comic Nick Knatterton ( what a magnificent sounding german name ) is all about for my readers outside of Germany before I go into too much detail about its genesis and how immersed it is, not only in pop culture but in german culture period.

By the way, if I´m referring to Nick Knatterton as a strip I´m talking about the art of comic it is. Because unlike most american strips that have only three panels ( one for the recap, one to move the story forward and the last one for the cliffhanger ) Nick Knatterton´s weekly strips had many panels and took up at least half a page. This is why when the german newspaper BILD included it in its CLASSIC COMIC LIBRARY they printed the comic sideways so they would not have to reduce it in size.

Nick Knattertton is the name of the main character, a master detective in the vein of Sherlock Holmes, indeed it´s one of the big inspirations for him. Not only in the way he is clothed but also in the way that he is the embodiment of a competent and effective private detective. He is not extraordinarily physically strong ( although he keeps in good shape ) and does not possess many fancy gadgets ( some of them would make James Bond envious and show Manfred Schmidt´s great knack for coming up with brilliant contraptions and gimmicks ), but his mental capabilities, his power of deduction, his senses, his memory and knowledge of various topics are incredible to the point of caricature. As an example, Knatterton was able to pinpoint his location after being thrown tied and blindfolded into the back of a van, thanks to memorizing the entire map of the city and feeling the van's momentum with his body when turning corners.

DEDUCTION : LIVING MEN DO WEAR PLAID

As for a visual inspiration he looks a lot like Hans Albers in the german classic DER MANN DER SHERLOCK HOLMES WAR ( The Man Who Was Sherlock Holmes ) which is no big surprise since the movie came out in 1937, when Schmidt came up with the first version of the character.

To my shame I must confess that I have never seen the movie although I have seen most of Heinz Rühmann´s movies and some of Hans Albers movies like GROSSE FREIHEIT NUMMER SIEBEN ( Big Freedom Number 7 ).

But I know the basic plot : Hans Albers plays Morris Flynn, a luckless detective who has the brilliant idea to impersonate Sherlock Holmes with his assistant Macky McPherson - played by Heinz Rühmann - taking the role of Doctor Watson to get hired. Of course it works - especially after they tell everybody that they are NOT Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson - they get hired to solve a case and while they manage to do that they are accused of impersonating the famous detective and his trusty sidekick.

But then Sir Arthur Conan Doyle reveals himself in the court room who has followed the case rather amused and explains that Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson are fictional characters that he invented. Then follows the usual Happy End but because of protest by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle´s heirs the scene where he protests couldn´t be shown on television until 1970.

Which I guess led to the ending not making much sense. I tried to find a video of the full movie on YouTube - for those who have not seen it like me - but I only found this one in eight parts ( german with english sub ).

But back to Nick Knatterton. Like I said, as a character he was inspired by Sherlock Holmes but as far as looks are concerned he was molded after Hans Albers as Morris Flynn who did wear tweed but had a different hat.

If you have seen the brilliant new adaption of Sherlock Holmes by the BBC you know how much people like the original hat but Nick Knatterton wore a beret like Hans Albers. They both smoked pipe like Holmes though.

Another source for the character was Superman and since his birth Nick Knatterton has always been compared to him for some strange reason.

DEDUCTION : NICK KNATTERTON`S SECRET ORIGIN BACKFIRED

That is something you read in almost every article about Nick Knatterton ( there will be some links to a few of them in the link section further down ) and which I don´t understand. But that´s the german press for you : some things are repeated constantly until they are taken for true. And while Nick Knatterton has nothing in common with Superman except maybe a strict code of honor and his attitude towards women ( Nick has no super powers and no secret identity ) a Superman comic was what prompted Manfred Schmidt to come up with the comic in the first place.

" This was a picture story where bubbles filled with text came out of the acting characters mouth, nose and ears or head, depending on if they were saying, hearing, smelling or thinking something. Helixes around the head were a sign of fading consciousness, stars for an earlier blow to the chin or other delicate parts of the body. A course of action that would fill many pages in a novel was here compressed into a small panel, thus the reader was able to skip 95 percent of the necessary reading. "

Initially Manfred Schmidt wanted to make a parody to dispel people´s interest in this baloonfilled formed trash literature aimed at illiterates. But his laudible intention to ridicule the comics backfired completely and turned into one of those happy accidents for the history books. Even more so he created one of the first strips for adults and set his own standards.
" Because of Nick Knatterton the germans began to get an appetite for comics in earnest and devoured more and more of the stuff. " the artist once complained, tongue - in - cheek, about the success of his hero.

After World War II comics were not very widespread in Germany. When publishers tried to establish the unaccustomed form of representation they mostly catered to a young audience. Nick Knatterton was the first comic in Germany for an adult readership. Eckart Sackmann, author about Nick Knatterton : " Something like this had not be seen here. This was new, this was funny - and also intelligent, if you knew how to read it. Nick Knatterton was a sensation. " No matter in which setting the master detective ended up - he not only encountered bad guys, blondes and brilliants but also many ( embosomed ) cliches : wise guys riding Vespa motorcycles and singing Capri fishermen in Italy, roughneck cowboys and proud indians in America, weird lords and swirling mists in England.

Over the years this parody of comic and crime fiction became more and more a parody of german reality in the 50s. Readers of QUICK could find much of what the detective underwent while solving his cases in the editorial section. Schmidt hit the nerve of the german " We are somebody again society " in a humorous way and anticipated something that would be rediscovered much later by the german satire publication PARDON.

Favorite targets of his potshots :and low blows were politics and the authorities as well as the police, military and secret services.

Nick Knatterton´s recipe for success was taking the comic genre in itself completely ironical. Furthermore the strips looked like technical user manuals than picture stories : sectional drawings of secret lairs and disguises, detailed explanations about the workings of technical devices or zoomed in panels could be found in almost every episode. Aside from that caption boxes often explained the course of action although they could be deducted from the pictures in most cases - or caption boxes contained ironic or in some cases information that made no sense.

After more than 350 episodes the strip was closed in 1959 because after almost ten years creator Manfred Schmidt didn´t want to subject himself anymore to the constant pressure of producing content. In following years he wrote and illustrated travel reports for QUICK, later on he directed travel movies and commercials. Nick Knatterton stayed present since various companies used the detective as a vehicle for advertising and in the 80s fifteen animated shorts were produced for the WDR tv station.

But we will come to the movie adaptions and the animated series later.

DEDUCTION : SCANDAL ON THE MUNICH TRAMWAY

Here I want to make a quick break and talk a bit about Nick Knatterton outside of comics. Because like I said, Nick Knatterton became a big part of german culture. There is a " Nick - Knatterton - Honor - Cap " from the German Detective Association and ten motives were made for Munich´s tramway tickets . Although there was a big hallabaloo because a local politician took offense with how women were drawn on the tickets.

About ten years readers followed their " german Sherlock Holmes " on his hunt for gangsters between back alleys and high finance every week. Nothing could cloud his keen wit - except from buxom beauties.

While he certainly enjoys the female form - he is often distracted by femme fatales like Virginia Peng or Mi - Tse Meyer although he rather looks than touches - he has no significant other. " Justice is my bride. "

His catch phrase : " Conclusion " or " I conclude " ( " Kombiniere " or " Ich kombiniere " in german ) which was then followed by the conclusion itself quickly became a part the language. He´s still Germany´s best known detective and there are many articles about him like this one about an art exhibition in Hannover celebrating Manfred Schmidt´s 100th birthday .

It´s also covered by this article that has nice pictures of Knatterton paraphernalia like a Faschings mask ( Fasching or Fasnacht is the german version of Halloween only with lots of beer instead of candy ),

Now this is something that I probably have to explain for the younger people because this is something we used to do when I was a kid.

DEDUCTION : THE MOVING TOOLSHOP

A fretsaw is a tool we used to make things and you hold it like this.

You buy it at the hardware store and it comes in a little toolbox like this.

Now when I was a little boy kids used to do this a lot and there were tv shows like ZUGESCHAUT UND MITGEBAUT which was one of the few things my father let us watch without fighting because he also wanted to see it.

Okay, what you do with the fretsaw saw pattern is you put in on top of a piece of wood, then you take the fretsaw and cut the wood following the pattern. And this way you can build toys like mobiles or figurines.

DEDUCTION : THE DIRECTOR NEVER RINGS TWICE

Now it is time to talk about the adaptions of Nick Knatterton to movies and cartoons, and this is the part where I found out a lot of things.

The first was that there had been a Nick Knatterton movie made in 1959 called NICK KNATTERTONS ABENTEUER - DER RAUB DER GLORIA NYLON

( The Kidnapping of Miss Nylon ) with Karl Lieffen as Nick Knatterton,

Susanne Cramer as Gloria Nylon,

Maria Sebaldt as Virginia Peng

and Günter Pfitzman as Max and Gert Fröbe as Hugo.

This is another movie I haven´t seen yet and while it´s probably not the greatest comic book movie ever it seems to be a rather entertaining and funny one judging by the great reviews I´ve read on the internet so far.

There was also another movie produced in 2002 called simply NICK KNATTERTON - THE MOVIE but the movie company went bankrupt and because the movie is part of the assets it has never been shown.

And judging by the way how german cinema mugged such properties like HUI BUH, WICKIE or JERRY COTTON in a dark alley I´m not sure that´s a bad thing. You can see a trailer here to judge for yourself but it looks rather bland to me. At least they got the part of Virginia Peng right.

Another movie that never got made - at least according to this post - was a cartoon by the producers of the WERNER movies around the year 2000.

DEDUCTION : FIFTEEN TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION

But there were 15 cartoon shorts produced in the 80s for the WDR ( West German Radio ) and they are indeed still available on DVD. And to show you how old the cartoons really are here´s the picture of a VHS tape.

Now the cartoons are the reason why I started this post in the first place, which was instigated - once again - by a comment from Comic Bits Online blog mastermind Terry Hooper about german comic book documentaries.

Or rather the total lack thereof. You see, the case is : there are no german documentaries about comics. What you see on german tv are either documentaries from Amerika or France ( which means you are probably watching arte ). Apart from that you get short clips from the news or a report on comics from tv but those are filled with the usual prejudices about comics. Despite any hopes of success I went on YouTube to look for videos about some classic german comics - which is how I discovered a Nick Knatterton cartoon existed. I know. I shouldn´t be allowed to call myself a comic fan. Anyway, the first video I found was episode 5, MIEZEN MACHER UND MONETEN which has the first appearance of asian femme fatale Mi - Tse Meyer and the part where he finds Virginia Peng naked in the sauna ( sorry, no full frontal nudity on this one guys ).

DEDUCTION : LAST SEEN WEARING . . . NOTHING

One of the reasons why the cartoon was so successful is that like in the comic there are a lot of scantily clad women in it like underworld boss Virginia Peng, probably Nick Knatterton´s arch villain and main foil.

She can often be found at the ALIBI BAR, a seedy bar where the scum of the underworld meets to make deals and while she is alternating between capturing Nick or blowing him up she rather enjoys using her booming body to distract Nick and escape the grip of justice again and again.

Like I have said, there is no frontal nudity in episode 5 which doesn´t mean there is none at all. The series is filled with all kinds of gangsters, shady artists, starlets who want to get famous fast or any other kind of woman that isn´t above using her womanly wiles to achieve her goals.

It´s not like it´s especially explicit or graphic but it´s also not shying away from nudity since most readers of the original comic were adults.

When it´s there it´s enbedded in the story like in episode 7 - BARGELD, BETTEN UND BRILLIANTED where Nick only gets a quick partial glance at some nude pictures and is immediatelly able to recognize Viginia Peng and Mi - Tse Meyer from memory. Which is not as easy as it sounds since he did see Virginia´s butt but had to guess the form of Mi - Tse´s breasts.

DEDUCTION : LINKS ( AND VIDEOS ) COME AS THE END

And I guess this is all I can say on the subject. I know there are some audio dramas but I haven´t heard one yet so I can´t comment on that. So I guess this means it´s time to wrap up things and acknowledge the many websites that have made this post possible so I can watch all those Nick Knatterton cartoons as well as THE MAN WHO WAS SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Nick Knatterton is not only popular in Germany. I found this long french article and I want to include it even if I have no idea what it´s about.

Today swimsuit siren Janet Jones Gretzky celebrates her 56th birthday so it´s time to re - post her entry like I did last year. The initial plan was to re - post the entire post and pimp it to the nines with some animated GIFs.

But I guess that it´s true what they say about the best laid plans of men and mice because after adding all the GIFs the strain was too big and the page did not load completely anymore. So I had to cut a lot of stuff and pictures. Thankfully I had saved the original post which I restored and as there was too much I had to cut for this version this has turned into the re - posted version which is mainly about Janet Jones. In the end I had to make three new posts : one for Janet Jones, one for Leslie Easterbrook and one for Becky Mullen which concentrates on the part about them although it incorporates stuff about the others. I´m not sure to which extent until I have finished them but you can find the original post here .

The post about Janet Jones started as a way to give props to one of the unsung heroines that transform otherwise unwatchable b - movies into bearable entertainment. It was also a possibility for me to talk about the POLICE ACADEMY movie franchise and a whole lot of other stuff. Janet is of course best known for appearing in POLICE ACADEMY 5 - ASSIGNMENT MIAMI BEACH in a stunning white swimsuit presenting her best assets and she´s one of the reasons people still watch the movie. Or at least wait for the parts with her in them to be over before zapping to something else.

Nowadays nobody really watches the complete movies anymore because thanks to a seemingly neverending number of sequels Hollywood has managed to completely ruin the franchise. I remember seeing the first one in the theater and coming out pretty overwhelmed because at that time it was really a novel concept. And I still think the first part holds up pretty well. Not that it is the big cinematographic gem but it is funny and entertaining if you haven´t seen the gags repeated in the other sequels. It sure launched a few careers since it brought Steve Guttenberg a big career boost and gave Bubba Smith and Michael Winslow their big break.

Although I have to confess I´m not sure what Michael Winslow is doing right now. I know he did some really bad german movies starring Thomas Gottschalk and written by Thomas Gottschalk ( who else would cast Thomas Gottschalk in a movie who didn´t owe him a favor ? ) but also better stuff like SPACEBALLS and ROBOT CHICKEN. Steve Guttenberg was pretty big in the 80s and 90s but to the current generation he´s probably best known for playing corrupt town mayor Woody Goodman on VERONICA MARS with the lovely Kristen Bell in the lead role of plucky successor to Nancy Drew, Veronica Mars. I guess I just appeared on all search engines because I mentioned Kristen Bell. Speaking about VERONICA MARS, Charisma Carpenter also has a part on the show who is of course best known for playing Cordelia on BUFFY and later on the spin off ANGEL.

Besides VERONICA MARS Charisma Carpenter was also in episode 11 of season 5 of BURN NOTICE where she showed that she still has it.

Which brings us to Enrico Colantoni, who plays ex - sheriff / ex - private eye / new sheriff Keith Mars and he also was on an episode of BONES which is the new series of David Boreananz who plays FBI agent Seely Booth and who also played Angel first on BUFFY and then on ANGEL. And Kim Catrall - who later on had more SEX AND THE CITY - also appeared in the first POLICE ACADEMY movie. Like I said, it was pretty good but with each sequel the quality has gotten worse and worse and the only good parts were the ones with hot babes like Janet Jones who is the only reason anybody can suffer through these pieces.

The other reason is Sexbombe Leslie Easterbrook who plays megabusty police officer Debbi Callahan and had her best scene in POLICE ACADEMY 4 - CITIZENS ON PATROL where she was in a pool with a wet t - shirt .

There have been some requests for HQ GIFs of the scene but these are the best I could find. If you find any in better quality please let me know.

Leslie Easterbrook´s secondbest clip is in POLICE ACADEMY 5 when she´s on the plane and two boys stare at her cleavage thinking her fast asleep. If you pay attention you see how she first yells at them. But then when they try to check her out again you can see her flashing a proud grin and pushing her boobs up a bit so they can get a good eyeful of her melons.

Which shows what a sense of humor Callahan has and that despite everything she´s still proud of her quite distracting breasts .

She probably got that from Leslie Easterbrook, the voluptuous actress who portrays Callahan and appears in most of the POLICE ACADEMY movies, who seems like the kind of actress I’d love to have lunch with. She knows exactly what kind of movies she’s in, and plays the part with a vicious commitment unseen in most comedies of this ilk. She’s perfectly O.K. with being objectified and in interviews seems amused and tickled at some of the things she’s had to do. Pragmatic, flirty, professional and practical, Easterbrook is one of the stars of the POLICE ACADEMY series and may well be one of the women who influenced my fixation on confident blondes with big breasts that kick ass like Power Girl.

Leslie´s Callahan was kind of empowering for women, she was strong, intelligent, kick - ass tough as nails, independent and secure in her sexuality. Physically she was superior to most men who came across as rather stupid and one - minded most often suffering - or inflicting upon others - heavy injury while being distracted by her centerfold curves.

Now back to Janet Jones Gretzky who was a few times on the cover

and inside of PLAYBOY magazine and yes, she is that famous ice hockey player´s wife. Man, that guy had really excellent taste in women.

As her appearances in the pages of PLAYBOY have proven she´s one hot masssita and since she looks absolutely boobielicious in a swimsuit she takes over Leslie Easterbrook´s part as eye candy - at least partially. In an X - Men movie I would cast Janet as Dazzler.

Or she could play my favorite X - Girl Tabitha Smith a.k.a. Boom Boom ( because of her big boom booms ) since they could be twin sisters.

And so you can get idea what that would look like here are some scenes from POLICE ACADEMY 5 - ASSIGNMENT MIAMI BEACH with Janet Jones in a white swimsuit or just watch the movie. If you do don´t be surprised to see Rene Auberjonois who played Odo on STAR TREK - DEEP SPACE 9.

Janet Jones, whose film credits include BEASTMASTER, STAYING ALIVE, THE FLAMINGO KID, A CHORUS LINE, AMERICAN ANTHEM and A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN also did a workout video where she wears a white suit.

White really is her colour. I guess I would have bought her workout tape and I wouldn´t have regretted it from the short clips I was able to watch.

Janet really shows her best parts ( like her perfectly sculpted ass !!! ) and in some instances there is some nipplage visible through the thin fabric.

The tape is available through amazon so there still must be some demand for it. I´m not sure who can play it since the only way to get something equipped with a VCR is one of these combo machines that have a DVD player and those are going out of style as everything is Blue Ray now.

Speaking about hot PLAYBOY covergirls / centerfolds : Pamela Anderson hasn´t made a workout tape ( her most famous tape is more kind of a home video ) but she was on an episode of MARRIED WITH CHILDREN with Becky Mullen of which I found some GIFs while doing the research.

It´s the episode where Al is having these dream sequences with first Becky, then with Pamela and then with both fighting over him but each time it´s about to get interesting Kelly - of course - wakes him up.

I really can´t decide who´s hotter in the episode, Pamela or Becky. I mean Pamela is Pamela, my very first candidate for the SEARCH FOR POWER GIRL series but Becky is nobody you would throw out of bed either. The scene when she takes off the business suit is just extremely sexy. WOW !

Becky appeared in a few erotic movies like SINFUL INTRIGUE, which is extremely difficult to find because there seem to be at least ten movies with this name and you want to get the right one. In the movie she´s a hot babe who gets taken advantage of by her pervy husband who makes her do some slutty hardcore stuff with which she is not comfortable.

Basically he treats her like a prostitute which is not okay. Even if she has the measurements to be the centerfold of a certain publication for men I already mentioned twice in this post you should treat her with respect. But her husband is not even trying, I mean no flowers, no presents, no nice dinner, just " Slut up, wife ! " and then it´s " Wham, bang, not even Thank you, Ma´am ! " What a dork. On top of that he cheats on her with every other woman he comes across like his nymphomanic hasian porn masseuse Mai - Ling ( really, like there are no other names for asian women, but that´s Hollywood for you ) played by ultrahot Chona Jason, who gives his schlong a massage - one of the best scenes of the movie.

Oh, there is one decent guy in the movie who has the hots for Becky Mullen - her neighbour - but of course she keeps him at a distance and only does it with him out of pity when he´s ill. Just like in real life.

The guy who treats her like a prostitute gets to do her every which way day in and day out the whole year while the nice guy finishes last.

There´s some kind of murder story involved but the important thing is that Becky Mullen gets to strut her stuff and wears some kinky outfits. If you have a chance you should watch the movie, it´s quite entertaining and the story doesn´t distract too much from the erotic parts of it. The movie also has an all star cast with a lot of hot babes like erotic movie veterans Lorissa McComas in a lesbian scene and Griffin Drew ( who joins Chona Jason turning her sex massage into a threeway endurance test ! )

Now, all of this might not be interesting but the reason why I´m even mentioning it at all is that besides having parts on almost every tv show from RENEGADE to CYBIL to MADtv to PACIFIC BLUE to HUDSON STREET to HIGH TIDE to BLACK SCORPION and appearing in Andy Sidaris´ HARD HUNTED movie she also played the part of Sally, the Farmer´s Daughter.

Not on Playboy Late Night or in an erotic movie but on the first season of GLOW, Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling one of the few shows with female wrestlers shown on german tv. At that time as a wrestling fan you took what you could get and I´m not sure if the show was really that serious.

Although there was this one episode where one of the female wrestlers had an accident and sprained or dislocated her elbow and they kept repeating that footage over and over during the show. Which was really freaking me out. There were some weird characters on the show and I remember having a thing for Palestina who had quite a big rack.

This is the clip with the best quality I could find on YouTube where she goes up against Olympia. Man, I totally forgot that she never wore a bra.

I think GLOW aired around the time when the legendary CATCH UP show was on RTL presented by Joe Williams and Horst Brack der Bestrafer ( Horst Brack the Punisher, obviously named after the MARVEL character ).

While the wrestling matches ( NWA, CWA and WCW ) were interesting the best parts were the banter between straight man Joe Williams and heel Horst Brack. And of course the highlights of the shows was the interview section BRACK´s PRANGER ( Brack´s pillory ) where Horst Brack either buttered up his guests or trashed them depending on whether he liked them or not. But Horst Brack wasn´t just like most people all talk and even participated in a few wrestling matches. I tried to find the legendary fight against Rene Lassartesse but the only video I could find was this one : Horst Brack & Rolo Brazil versus Rene Lasartesse & Indio Guajaro.

Horst Brack a.k.a. Rochus Hahn a.k.a. Robi is also a prolific comic writer who wrote such german cult comics like MENSCHENBLUT, DR. DIPPERZ ( the german version of Dr. House only this one really IS insane ), HORST, LUNA, ARSINOE or ALRAUNE. One of THE coolest guys in german comics.

I remember that every time at the INTERNATIONALER COMIC SALON ERLANGEN he was nominated for best writer or best comic with his newest publication from SCHWARZER TURM and most of the times won.

Since I never got to do them in previous re - posts I want to include a few other celebrity birthdays and maybe I can cover a few more next year. In 2016 the whole celebrity birthday thing has gotten a bit out of hand and so this year I´m trying to include only those where I have bookmarked a video as with the stunning Sarah Shahi who turns 37 and whom you might know from Life or Person of Interest which I think is currently on hiatus.

Next we have singing siren Sabrina Setlur who celebrates her 43rd birthday which takes me back to the days when there were 2 music video channels I watched and german rap bands. To american readers this is maybe news but there are also rappers here in Germany and Sabrina Setlur started as Schwester S with the Rödelheim Hartreim Projekt and I remember staying up late at night so I could tape the remix of Folge Dem Stern - because there was more Sabrina Setlur in that one. One scene in particular ended up as a loop on many of my music video / erotic movie clips mix tapes.

Ah, the mammaries .... I mean memories this brings back. Just the other day I was looking for some episodes of Samurai Jack because a reviewer on YouTube was talking about it without end like it was the be - all and end - all of animation when I came across Samurai Champloo. George Foreman turns 68 Today and oddly enough I DO have a video for the occasion although initially I was looking for videos with Muhammad Ali.

The next birthday takes me - once again - back to my younger days as Walter Hill celebrates his 75th anniversary. He is responsible for a lot of stuff I watched be it as the director of movies like The Warriors, 48 Hours, Streets Of Fire, Red Heat or Tresspass or as a producer like with Aliens. I think he also had a soft spot for the classic EC horror comics since he produced not only the Tales From The Crypt tv series but various EC Comics adaptions : Two - Fisted Tales, Demon Knight and Ritual starring Jennifer Grey best known for her role in the cult movie Dirty Dancing.

I know you expected to finally get the often advertised THORSDAY WITH ERIK LARSEN post - or at least the story why it was not on the blog when it should have been months ago - but there are a few things in regards to my latest posts that I have to write about first before I can get to that.

The reason why I did the whole NICK KNATTERTON re - post was that I finally found the movie Die Abenteuer des Nick Knatterton - Der Raub der Gloria Nylon ( The Adventures of Nick Knatterton - The kidnapping of Gloria Nylon ) on YouTube. Of course I found out that the movie has actually been released on DVD and Blue Ray AFTER I finished the posts.

You can even get them from amazon. Now I have finally had time to watch the movie and I don´t know if the picture quality is as weird in the DVDs and Blue Rays as in the video I got from YouTube or if that is the bad Super 8 version that is mentioned in the customer reviews as part of the extras. It is kind of wonky and the background seems to move in a lot of shots.

While the movie itself manages to retain a lot of the things that made the comic successful the producers apparently thought they had to dumb it down a bit in an effort to appeal to a broader audience instead of the adult readership it was intended for. While the costumes and casting is spot on - especially where Knatterton´s characteristic nose is concerned - it is a shame that actors of the caliber of Günter Pfitzman and Gert Fröbe don´t get to show what they are capable of. Another missed opportunity comes with Maria Sebaldt who plays the seductive gang leader Virginia Peng and who´s corrupting curves are criminally underutilised. She clearly deserved more screen time with a few hot outfits like a tiny bikini or a see - through nightie. Here the producers of the film were more chaste as the original comic where that was one of the main appeals for the reader.

All things considered I think the movie is interesting for fans of Nick Knatterton and old black and white oddities and I recommend watching the YouTube video before buying it. And I would not wait too long with that because the Elvis video I had included in the post - Viva Las Vegas with Ann - Margret - has already been deleted and I had to replace it.

Speaking about waiting too long, I hope all readers interested in getting Epic Collection Moon Knight - Shadows of the Moon or Amazing Spider - Man : Cosmic Adventures did so because both of them are now at 42 EUROS which is two bucks more than you pay at your regular comic book store. So far I have not had the time to read them but as expected the Moon Knight trade is all Bill Sienkiewicz greatness. As for the Spider - Man trade there is far more Gil Kane than I expected as well as work by such greats like Todd McFarlane, Mike Zeck and even Steve Ditko. Now as I said, the regular amazon price is 42 EUROS but if you still want to get the trades you can get them from the new and used books section also for 26 EUROS.

Now you are probably asking yourself : if I can get them from the new and used books section for the same price why were you pimping them so heavily before ? There are two reasons. Firstly, books you order from the new and used books section can take up to four weeks until they arrive while you get bargain books after a few weekdays just like the regular books. This might not make much difference for some people but I am one of those customers who cannot wait until his order arrives. I am really nervous and I find it difficult to concentrate on other stuff - which you might have noticed through some of my posts - in the meantime. So if I order something I prefer to have it sooner than later. The second reason is that while it does not necessarily have to be so this is still the new and used books section and one thing experience has taught me is that what some people consider to be " new " regular comic fans might see as " used " while what some people describe as " used " might be more along the lines of what your local comic book shop might label as " poor condition ". So the bargain books are in a much better state - generally speaking.

Of course there have been exceptions and most of the books I ordered from other dealers through amazon have arrived in pristine condition but there have also been cases where even the low price I paid for these books were too much because they would have ended up in the dollar bin or the trash can. Okay, I don´t want to unnecessarily discourage readers but I want to point out my reasoning and also remind you of the dangers.

That said since both trades are in the new books and not the used books part it should be okay to order them. I also want to mention another Epic Collection, or better one of THE best Epic Collections EVER in the bargain book section Avengers - Under Siege. I know that I always tell you this or that is the best Epic Collection but that is because they have some really great stuff. And it doesn´t get any better than this. One of the best, if not the best - period, Avenger stories of all times by one of the most epic creative teams to chronicle the exploits of Earth´s Mightiest Heroes. I have written about this story ad nauseum and there will be another post on it as soon as I get to my NUMBER 1 JOHN BUSCEMA AVENGERS COVER OF ALL TIME post. And if you still don´t know how Airwolf the combo of Roger Stern, John Buscema and Tom Palmer is you have probably missed all my previous posts on Big John´s best covers for the Allmighty Assemblers.

Currently it is at 29 bucks in the bargain book section which may or may not go down a few bucks in the next days but if you don´t want to wait you can get it from the new books section for 25 which is not a bad price for a trade with 14 issues of AVENGERS, one crossover issue of ALPHA FLIGHT and an AVENGERS ANNUAL that usually goes for 40 bucks. Older comic collectors out there might already have all the issues but like me they might want to get it in pristine condition and shining color in a nice package that sits readily on the shelf to re - read whenever you want. And all the younger or newer Marvel fans who are wading through the ALL NEW, ALL DIFFERENT and Disney NOW stuff it might be interesting to see what the Avengers really are supposed to be. This is the gold standard.

Back to the post from last week in which I pimped the Epic Collections, I was talking about all the books I´m excited about in 2017 but because I got so wrapped up I did not get to mention a few Marvel omnibus books.

I know, for a guy who always keeps an eye on the price tag and moans about how expensive and unaffordable comics Today are I have managed to buy quite a few of these omnibus. In fact I have currently 13 in my possession. The thing is I didn´t pay the regular cover price for 12 of these because otherwise I would not have been able to afford them. And the one where I did pay the full cover price is one where it is reasonable because the hefty book clocks in at almost 1,200 pages. A little bit above 1,200 pages is the ALPHA FLIGHT BY JOHN BYRNE OMNIBUS HARDCOVER which is scheduled to be available in shops around the 14th of February.

Now my brother might say that I always buy the same comics over and over again - which is true to some extent - but while I have most of the issues of John Byrne´s ALPHA FLIGHT run I don´t have the complete run in the original american version. I have some issues in english ( in fact the first american comic I ever bought from a railroad station newsstand - or rather the international press newsstand - is issue 20 ), volumess 2 and 3 of ALPHA FLIGHT CLASSIC but the rest are spanish Vertice translations.

So not only would this be the first book that contains all of John Byrne´s issues for ALPHA FLIGHT that is more than just old issues glued together with a cheap cardboard cover. It would also contain five issues of X - MEN as well as two issues and an annual of THE INCREDIBLE HULK and various other series where Canada´s first superhero team made an appearance.

With a regular price of 100 bucks - 84 with the amazon pre order price guarantee - I will probably have to wait until it is available for a reasonable price at the new and used books section though. Which might not be such a bad thing because one month later, on March the 14th the omnibus I have waiting for a long time comes out : SHANG - CHI, MASTER OF KUNG - FU, volume 3. It´s on baby, this is 100 percent full on martial Mike Zeck !

So far I haven´t gotten any the omnibus because I´m not that big a fan of Paul Gulacy´s work and I already read some of his MASTER OF KUNG - FU issues when they were re - published in Spain decades ago. I´m geared much more towards the great Mike Zeck but he didn´t draw much of the material in the second volume and in those few issues he really hadn´t hit his stride. Which is where the third volume starts and with issues 71 to 101 it has the bulk of Mike Zeck´s output up to his last issue. The late, great Gene Day did half of the double sized 100th issue and took over the penciling reigns with issue 102 and that will be the final MOKF omnibus. So volume 3 is the one I definitely am going to buy even though I probably will also have to wait a while until it is at a fairly reasonable price - for me.

Once again it´s time to wrap things up for the day but after all this talk about books that haven´t come out yet I wanted to pimp a book which you can get right now. Sorry, this is strictly for my readers in Germany. When I talked about all the books coming out in 2017 that got me giddy like a little asian school girl the first book I mentioned was the hardcover edition of BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS by Mike W. Barr and Jim Aparo which comes out at the end of February and contains the first 13 issues of the book as well as their first story from THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD 200 and their crossover issue with THE NEW TEEN TITANS. Well, as I said, I am not a person which has patience among their virtues so I got issue 98 of the official DC graphic novel collection by Eaglemoss, which is BATMAN UND DIE OUTSIDER. With only the first 4 issues and the short story from THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD 200 it is one of the thinnest books from that line but totally worth it. Since this series is no longer available through comic book shops you will have to look for it at your local newsstands.

We start our luckily very short video block with another teens reaction video in honor of Mel C´s 43rd birthday. My, how time flies. Not only has it been 20 years since the Spice Girls but look at them react kids all grown up. By the way, I´m totally calling dibs on the hottie in the green t - shirt.

Initially I didn´t want to re - post one of my favorite tv sexbombs of all times, nubian über sex goddess Traci Bingham ( or Traci Banghim or Traci Banghimhard like I like to call her ) on her 49th birthday and just mention her in the FLASH FRIDAY post. Well, if that´s true he was probably the only one who didn´t get any as buxom blonde Pamela Anderson paints a different picture of the set of Baywatch in an article from 2003 . Pam admitted having steamy sex liaisons with all of her hunky lifeguard co - stars and often enjoyed some extra - curricular activities with her cast mates in their trailers." One last bit of Baywatch trivia : Michael Newman, called Newmie on the show was a real lifeguard, he was the inspiration for the show created by his childhood pal and fellow lifeguard Greg Bonnan and also was David Hasselhoff´s body double or leg double because he had chicken legs.

But aside from putting some of the hottest women on tv screens all over the world BAYWATCH also taught everybody the basics about CPR along with 25 other life lessons - according to the BuzzFeed community.

One last thing about Pamela Anderson : she is always portrayed as the stereotypical dumb blonde by the media but she managed to turn her popularity as a universal sex fantasy into a very lucrative career and many other actresses who were no less sexy and definitely more talented never achieved the level of success Pamela did. Not even Traci Bingham and she´s build like a porn star - in fact none of the other cast members of BAYWATCH did. Carmen Electra is the only one who was anywhere near the success level of Pam and she also was often in Playboy. A coincidence ?

Back to Traci Bingham I always hoped they would cast her as Storm in the next X- Men movie since there were rumors that Halle Berry wouldn´t return to the role. I guess I´m probably the only who would cast Janet Jackson as Storm but in my opinion she got the best body in showbiz.

Especially her incredibly round derriere is awesome and could go head to head ( or butt to butt ) with the likes of Beyonce. Sadly, Janet doesn´t seem to think so but if you have seen her ultra raunchy live performance of her hit ALL NIGHT ( DON´T STOP ) at Jay Leno where she had one of her best almost wardrobe malfunctions EVER you know it´s 100 % totally true.

During that performance Janet had some problems with keeping her pants on as it seems that she miscalculated the weight of the cable box thingie.

Janet was already wearing her jeans way low but the added weight of it plus the chains she put on her jeans were pulling her pants down showing lots of butt cleavage ! Also her constant grinding and hip shaking didn´t help much either. But Janet was a real trooper and kept going even if the audience got to see more than she initially intended to show. Throughout the entire performance she kept pulling up her jeans to cover up her juicy perfectly round cheeks and at the end she almost managed to get it under control but at the beginning you can see that she really has no reason to be ashamed in that department. She didn´t completely loose her pants - sigh - but it slid waay down to give a good view of her almost uncovered bubble butt and you even could see her hot bum cleft for short periods.

Speaking of having perfect chocolate bubblebutts Traci Bingham sure could give Janet a run for her money in that department. Daimn, baby got back !

Okay, back to casting Janet Jackson as Storm in an X - Men movie : let´s say I´m okay with Hollywood thinking she´s not right for that but how about casting her as Storm´s lost sister ? Come on, work with me here.

With all the useless changes you have done in comic movies so far, how about doing some good ? We could have Janet AND Traci in a movie.

Speaking about birthday cult siren Traci Bingham, for a long time I was hoping that they would cast her as the next Storm, preferably donning the black " swimsuit with leather boots " outfit which she would totally rock

or maybe even the yellow bikini she wore in the Savage Land story line.

Or maybe something even skimpier, in this case less is really more.

Boy, that John Byrne guy really knew how to draw some hot babes which was one of the reasons why I got hooked so easily by the series. Subzero wasn´t old enough to buy Playboy so comic book massitaas were my porn.

And sometimes it was even kinky sado maso porn without my knowing.

Especially the issues with the Hellfire Club although I wasn´t so sure at that time what the big brouhaha about Jean Grey´s outfit was since you could see more of her when she was in a bikini. Yes, the full appreciation for the Emma Peel inspired corsage and leather boots came years later.

Okay, back to Traci Bingham - she is after all the celebrity birthday babe of Today - and my dashed dreams of ever seeing her in an X - Men movie as Storm in a yellow bikini. Here she is sporting a yellow two parter :

Oh, if only we could have seen Traci Bingham going all the way on the big screen ( I know she went full frontal for Playboy ). I mean in the comics Storm always wanted to swim nude so it would not be out of character.

Or imagine Janet Jackson´s bare buttocks frollicking in the sand as she plays Storm relaxing at the X - Men beach party in Acapulco or Jamaica.

I also know somebody who could play the part of southern belle Rogue.

Alas, but so far that has not come to pass. And now that Halle Berry will probably not reprise her role of Storm in the next X - Men movies because they are constantly rebooting the franchise I´m looking at it with - like the germans say - one crying eye and one laughing eye. The crying one because once again we won´t get to see blow up sex doll Traci Bingham showing her naked hardbody getting it on with Janet Janet in a lesbian love fest or Halle Berry doing the full monty like in Password Swordfish.

Man, the only luck Halle Berry has with comic book based movies is bad luck. Catwoman totally flopped although she had the best Catwoman costume in the entire history of Batman related movie or tv adaptions.

And in X - Men she never got to do much which is a shame if you have an Oscar winning actress among your cast. It´s no wonder she was never satisfied with her part and now we can probably forget seeing her do the horizontal Monster´s Ball boogie with Hugh Jackman in an X - Men movie.

But for those hoping to see Halle let it all hang out there might still be hope as there is another comic adaption for which Halle would be perfect.

And because it´s an adult title Halle can even use her stripper moves.

Wait, you want to know why I said the thing about the laughing eye ? What is the upside to Halle Berry leaving the X - Men movies because of the rebooting ? Well, we get a totally new X - Men cast and so far we already have sexbomb Olivia Munn as Psylocke which I call spot on casting.

Their choice for Storm did not convince me but on the other hand she didn´t have much to do so far so it´s difficult to have a valid opinion.

Who knows, the way Disney is trying to shoehorn the latest events from the Marvel NOW stories into the movies we might get to see Storm have wild revenge sex with Logan after her break up with the Black Panther.

Well, it looks like I wasn´t entirely successful in doing an entirely comic related post as I couldn´t resist the temptation of posting hot pics of showbiz Üeber MILFs Janet Jackson and Halle Berry. Even I´m only human.

At least I managed to do a Traci Bingham post this year. Who knows ? Maybe next year I will mention Traci Bingham briefly and then go to the comic part for the rest of the post. Hey, it could happen. Anyway, once again I say : Happy birthday Traci Banghim and many happy returns.

Once again I´m late with the FLASH FRIDAY but this time I have a good excuse, I mean reason. In fact there are various good reasons for this.

The first and most important reason was to make this post possible. You see, up to THE FLASH 128, the issue I posted last week, I had all issues prepared in advance. Which is one of the reasons why the FLASH FRIDAY posts - at least for a while - were the only posts that came out regularly.

The only problem had been the special posts which interrupted the series and finding the time to write the posts. So I went to the website where I found the other issues but I could not get issue 128 of THE FLASH there.

What to do ? Now some people might say that now that the original Wally West Flash has returned in the DC REBIRTH universe there is no more need for these FLASH FRIDAY posts. Which is only partially true. Yes, one of my crazy ideas when I started this series was that if enough people got on the Wally West is the best Flash ever bandwagon that could generate enough buzz on the internet for DC to realize what a great character they are wasting. I am not sure if I really made a difference here. But the thing is that I also wanted to make people aware of the great run Wally West as the Flash had - the stories, the artwork, the character, the world building.

Now some might argue that too has become obsolete as the success of the tv series has finally prompted DC to reprint more Flash material which includes the FLASH run by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar and a separate line for Mark Waid´s run. Which means that I may finally be able to close one of the gaps in my comic collection - FLASH issue 70 - in May if only in trade form. Issue 1 is included in the THE FLASH - A CELEBRATION OF 75 YEARS hardcover which I initially bought as a birthday present for my brother ( but he told me he has no interest in the character ) so I don´t know if I will still be on the lookout for the issue in single form. Anyway, while together with the SHOWCASE editions and the FLASH BY GEOFF JOHNS omnibus books this might now be the time that most of the FLASH lore is available in collected editions I do not feel that my work is done.

Last but not least one of the reasons for the series was to make people aware of Paul Ryan´s work so I will at least try to continue until I have posted all of his issues of THE FLASH. After that I don´t know. Maybe I will continue in numeric order or start again with number 1. As for Paul Ryan, there is that epic FANTASTIC FOUR run where I have only started to show the tip of the iceberg. Even before Paul Ryan passed away I had started to collect material for a DEATH IN COMICS : THE DEATH OF REED RICHARDS post and although I have not written the post yet because it is macabre it would be sad to let all that work go to waste. And it would be a way to keep featuring one of my favorite artists and prove not all comics that came out in the 90s were as bad as their reputation at the same time.

Anyway, now that my resolve to continue with the FLASH issues by Paul Ryan had been invigorated the question was what to do ? I could use the meager material I had on the rest of the issues to write up a summary - or a few of them. But so far I have always posted entire issues and I wanted to continue in that vein. To make a long story short ( or at least shorter ), I found another source for the issue and hopefully it will be smooth sailings from now on even if I have to reduce each page to post them.

Okay, that was the first reason why this post is late. The second one has to do with superstition so I don´t know if all my readers will agree on the validity of it. When I had finally finished preparing all the pages and stuff and bells and whistles I realized that it was already very late. Now I have been trying to go to bed earlier and also get up earlier and do more work during the day - and so far failing miserably at that - so that was another argument to wait one day with the post. As was that I would be posting on Friday, the 13th. Now I´m not sure if I really am that superstitious or cautious just in case but I decided it would be best not to tempt fate.

And finally reason number three is that I wanted to make some animated GIFs for the celebrity birthday section which was supposed to reduce the babe factor on the blog ( I am conscientious that people have commented that I need to dial things down in that regards ) but which - like always - has taken up more time than anticipated. But I think it was worth it. In any case, now I have finished with the preparations, I got all my ducks lined up, from all the FLASH pages of this issue to the celebrity birthdays and the corresponding animated GIFs and even all the videos. If nothing unexpected comes up at the last minute all I have to do is post the thing.

Now this is part two of Hell to Pay and you might go back to last weeks post and read that first if you have missed it. This story not only has Jay Garrick, my favorite second world war speedster, and the complete JLA with Zapp ! Superman and Kyle Rayner but also the Rogues ( of whom you might have seen the redneck version of Captain Boomerang in the Suicide Squad movie ) who have turned into demons ( I think ) after the fallout of the UNDERWORLD UNLEASHED crossover event. Yep, Flash´s Rogues kicked the bucket in that one but you just can´t keep a good villain down. Neron was ultimately punked by the Trickster and couldn´t get the pure soul he was after but he always has a plan b and now he has set his sights on the scarlet speedster. But enough recap, let´s follow the story in progress.

So there you have it : Joe Quesada totally swiped the idea for BRAND NEW DAY from Mark Waid. Although he totally botched the story since he used it to undo 25 years of spider continuity. If you want to see how this kind of dilemma gets solved more elegantly by a good writer you will have to wait until our next FLASH FRIDAY because I don´t want to spoil things.

What I always found a bit strange is the lengths to which Joe Quesada went to eradicate every positive developments had happened in Peter Parker´s life going as far as bringing a possible future offspring of Peter and Mary Jane into the story only to tell people that this would not be happening in the future. Without commenting on the offspring Peter and Mary Jane already had in the present. Yes, most people forgot about it but it happened during the Clone Saga : they had a girl which was switched with a dead fetus and they were told that it was stillborn. Which is the story of Mayday Parker a.k.a. Spider - Girl. It seems everyone but me has totally forgotten this and if I could write one Spider - Man story that was what I would write. There would be a mysterious vigilante with spider powers and Peter would find out that this is his daughter. Although after the whole Marvel universe was destroyed in SECRET WARS III and then recreated by the Silver Surfer - and the whole Spider - Verse mischmasch - I don´t know if there still is a 616 Spider - Girl out there. Or any Spider - Girl. Or any trace of the 616 universe. Thank God the ALL - NEW, ALL - DIFFERENT Disney NOW universe has made things so much easier for us.

In any case, if you haven´t done so already your assignment is to go to your local comic shop or the internet and get EVERY issue you can of the one, true, MC2 Spider - Girl. This has my utmost recommendation !

This post has been on my agenda for quite some time but for one reason or another I have not been able to do it. Even Today I spent most of the time not feeling in the mood to write a post. But since another FLASH FRIDAY with Paul Ryan post is in the works - and I do not have enough material to properly honor Edgar Allan Poe´s birthday - I will try to do this.

Now longtime readers know that I already mentioned the plan of doing this post a few times in previous posts without giving specific details and since I also do not like those people who drop hints but never deliver the payoff I thought it important to delve into the genesis of this post first.

The whole thing started last year at the 8th of December which was Erik Larsen´s 54th birthday and also a Thursday. At first I was not sure if I should continue with part two of THORSDAY WITH JACK KIRBY : THOR 173 or do a Savage Dragon birthday post for Erik. And then as a Doctor Who fan I stupidly asked myself : why not do both ? I knew that Erik Larsen had done some issues of THOR when Dan Jurgens was writing his Superman with a hammer stories so I went looking for those. But I could not find much from those issues except for two covers and a double page spread of Thor and The Warriors Three doing their best Beatles impression. So that was not going to be an option. Then I remembered that there IS a Thor in Erik Larsen´s brilliant SAVAGE DRAGON series so I could still do a THORSDAY post even if the Thor would not be the Thor from Marvel Comics like in all the other posts. Which would actually be a plus because usually there is always a DC post followed by a Marvel post, followed by a DC post and so on on the blog rarely interrupted by posts about artists or the occassional cult siren. And that way I could have an iMAGE post between two Marvel posts or two DC posts if needs be. So now that I knew what kind of post I wanted to make the only thing left was find some pages from SAVAGE DRAGON with Erik Larsen´s version of the God of Thunder. Which was not easy to do because the biggest part of my SAVAGE DRAGON comic book collection is in a place where I just can´t easily reach it at the moment.

So I mostly had to rely on stuff I had on the laptop and the internet. There were one or two pages I had where the red - bearded, twisted Thor that Erik Larsen had envisioned appeared but for the most part that was it.

So I thought about putting all the pages from the different issues into one post but after putting them all into one folder I noticed that most of the pages were from the same issue. And since I didn´t have the necessary resources to do an apt overview / history of Thor within the pages of SAVAGE DRAGON I decided to give it one more try and see if I could not find more pages from that issue. Which to my surprise was pretty easy.

Which should have been the first warning sign. But I - like a stoopid fool - was happy as if I had just won a holiday on a deserted island with Yaya Han and kept going. Because I managed to get this done on Sunday I thought that I had enough time to go to the Sammlerecke in Esslingen and get the latest issues of SAVAGE DRAGON to celebrate Erik Larsen´s 54th birthday in style. The plan was to first do the post and then spend the rest of the day catching up on what was going on in the Dragonverse. I was so hoping for more crazy sex Shenanigans with Malcolm Dragon and Angel Dragon.

I don´t recall why I didn´t manage to go to the Sammlerecke Esslingen before Thursday but in order to follow through with my plan I didn´t sleep on the night before Thursday and thought I could just soldier on, get the new SAVAGE DRAGON issues, get a few hours sleep and then do the post and read the comics for the rest of the day. If push came to shove I could read just the first issue and the rest later. But things were not that easy.

Ever since my knee operation the long trek to Esslingen has become more and more taxing especially if I have not had the necessary minimum of eight hours of rest so my knee works properly. Additionally the lack of sleep had a negative effect on my concentration which led to me taking the wrong subway and having to make a detour that took one hour. So when I finally got back home with the new comics I was so tired that I could not write the post. The next day there was the monthly paperwork to do for the job agency but I was so burnt out from Thursday that I just could not get out of bed and for the next days I tried to do that but things just kept preventing me from doing that including the internet connection being on the fritz. In the end I also had to work through the night to get everything ready to hand it in under the wire which only delayed this post further. But that was not the end of my problems.

Just a few weeks ago it looked like I could finally do the post but being the perfectionist I am I tried one last time if I could not find any original art from Erik Larsen´s THOR issues. Well, as a cruel joke of fate I did not find that many original art but stumbled upon all three issues Erik Larsen had done for Dan Jurgen´s SuperThor. So I was once again faced with a dilemma and since I could not fit all three issues into one post which meant that I would have to do a THORSDAY WITH ERIK LARSEN series anyway I was back to my original plan of starting with an issue of SAVAGE DRAGON that featured his version of Thor. Who is more like the Thor in the norse mythology : with red hair, a beard and a bad temper. Anyway, we are finally starting the series and - unless something else comes up as usual - next week we will dive into Erik Larsen´s THOR issues for Marvel Comics. Which as bad as things were back then at least took place in a recognizable Marvel universe where Thor is still a guy ( even though Dan Jurgens had to go back to the unnecessary crutch of giving Superman his Clark Kent alter ego .... I mean Thor a new alter ego with Jake Olson - not related to the Olsen Twins ) and Jane Foster part of the supporting cast.

You might think that Today´s entertainment block might have something to do with Thor or Savage Dragon but for some reasons it goes in a totally different direction. The only connection that occurs to me is that our first birthday babe, Jodie Sweetin, who turns 35 would be a hot Angel Dragon.

One year ago I had no idea who she was since I had not seen that many episodes of Full House but thanks to all the brouhaha about how she puts the fuller part in the new show Fuller House and parent groups dissing the reboot because of references to sex and drugs - and because of Jodie Sweetin´s überdeveloped chest which is totally inappropriate for family viewing - I am aware of this. One of these days I have to start watching the episodes if there is really so much inappropriate boobage in them.

Apropos inappropriate boobage, Joe Staton has his 69th anniversary who was the artist who first defined the look of The Green Lantern Corps for me since he drew most of the stories in Grüne Leuchte Hefte - the Green Lantern comics by Ehapa. Fun fact : Green Lantern was one of the only DC titles german publisher Williams Verlag had in it´s repertoire although it was called Grüne Laterne ( it is a word much nearer to the english word Lantern than Leuchte which is therefore still used by comic afficionados from my generation ). Anyway, back to Joe Staton, he also drew a lot of Earth - 2 stories involving the Justice Society of America, the Huntress but most importantly Power Girl. And we all know the story of how artist Wally Wood made her breasts bigger in each issues to see how far he could go. At this point it has gone into the realm of fiction or legend but I don´t think it really matters since DC is not using the real Power Girl anyway.

For those of you who remember the good old times when the Huntress was the daughter of Batman and Catwoman and BFF with Power Girl - or those comic book newbies who want to know more about them - Diane Darcy from HELENA WAYNE HUNTRESS has numerous posts on Joe Staton, too many to post them all here, so I´m just going to mention the ones I came across during my research for this post which is The Best Of The Huntress which has the Huntress back up stories from Wonder Woman issues 274 , 275 , 276 , 284 and 285 and The Best Of Power Girl : Showcase Presents Power Girl 97 - 99 Review . Speaking about huge power girls, if there ever was a real life blow up sex doll born to playing a whorehouse matron in a musical it´s the aptly named singing double D sexbomb Dolly Parton who celebrates her 71st birthday.

She is famous for being the original singer of I Will Always Love You which Whitney Houston covered in The Bodyguard and which became a favorite on casting shows since then. She also holds the Guiness Book world record for a woman with the biggest breasts in a non r - rated movie ( which have been reported to be anything from 38CC up to 48E !!! ) in Nine To Five.

It´s a testament to her personality that she managed to retain a clean andwholesome and image despite looking like every guy´s dream girl.

Dolly always patterns her look after the town tramp but still had a very successful career during which she kept her clothes on for the most part.

I think another big factor is that she lives in America because in Germany a blonde with such huge knockers would most definitely have ended up in the adult movie industry like her cousin Julia Parton a.k.a. Nina Alexander.

People always wonder what convinced Sylvester Stallone to take on the role in Rhinestone and while he has said in interviews that it was because his agent told him if he´s not going to do it Arnold Schwarzenegger would do it I bet there were two big reasons provided by co star Dolly Parton.

Now back when I had my boobblog Dolly Parton would have been a prime candidate for my Search For Power Girl series but country music is only now starting to become popular in Germany so I have really no idea how big of a super star she is. For her video I wanted to play it safe and chose one from a talk show since all her music videos I had bookmarked were deleted by YouTube. Although her appearance on the Late Night with Jay Leno show I posted last year has been deleted and I had to re - post it.

Now another reason why I didn´t want to post a music video of Dolly was that I wanted to keep that option to give a shoutout to Robert Palmer. As usual things did not work out as planned because I was again trying to kill two birds with one stone and so was looking for the version of Simply Irresistible Rob Morrow had done in an episode of Northern Exposure. I did not find that clip but instead a full episode. And because they are deleted so fast I had to put it on the blog as quickly as possible. I will post a Robert Palmer video some other day and don´t worry, while the title is in spanish the video has the original english audio. Although it has subtitles which is distracting no matter if you can understand the language or not.

So far we have had gods of thunder and demigods, super heroes, savage dragons and cops, young Power Girls, older Power Girls, cosplay Power Girls and the real comic book Power Girl, cult tv series and rebooted cult tv series so the only things missing are cartoon and horror. Which as unlikely as it sounds comes courtesy of Edgar Allan Poe. Since she´s celebrating her 43rd birthday Today I wanted to re - post my entry about television cult siren Tiffani Amber Thiessen ( Thyssen ? ).

Word is Tiffani was at times tagteamed by actors and even the producer and Elizabeth was especially needy about becoming her substitute in those marathon sex sessions where she was used like a blow up sex doll by all male actors. I don´t know anything about the movie besides some clips I´ve seen but it has Tiffani in lingerie so I´m already sold. What more do you need ?

I was literally in underwear for the first three years of Beverly Hills, 90210. I finally had to go to the producers and say : " Look, I´m here to do a job, not to be naked the entire time. "

The last few days I had some problems with the stomach and if that was not enough I have been feeling a bit under the weather ( which is very cold in Germany ) so I couldn´t make the promised FLASH FRIDAY post although I had already prepared all the necessary material. It´s true, I have done a few posts after they were scheduled to appear but since it was already Sunday when I finished my last post´s link section I decided it was too late and opted to go for another series I have neglected far too long.

Yes, if you check the blog archive you will see that I posted issue 2 way back on September the 21st so you might want to re - read that post. In this issue we have Batman teaming up with Blue Beetle and it´s one of the most entertaining issues. When Jamie Reyes was first introduced I was not happy - which had a lot to do with how the DC guys got rid of the previous Blue Beetle. But after a few issues the character won me over and they really paid tribute to the legacy of Ted Kord in the book. It turned into a really great read and if you want to know more check out the post I did on the series. This version has my highest recommendation. I don´t know how things are with the NEW 52 version of Blue Beetle but it´s not like that version really counts in the big scheme of thing. And after the whole DC REBIRTH initiative it probably won´t matter anyway.

I don´t want to come off like I think I know everything but I didn´t like the whole NEW 52 from the beginning since I never understood why DC deemed it necessary and now that it´s hopefully over it seems like it was their version of New Coke. I mean, just the other day I was reading my brother´s newest issues of JUSTICE LEAGUE and they were full of quotes about how great the DC REBIRTH titles are and all the great ideas they have about bringing Green Arrow back to his roots as a urban vigilante with a social consciousness and Dick Grayson as Nightwing and so on.

Pardon me, but is that not how they are SUPPOSED to be written ? But like with New Coke DC has been feeding the fans just cheap crap and now that they are back to the original concepts because they finally realized they had to do something if they didn´t want to devaluate the stable of intellectual property forever critics are raving as if those are novel ideas.

Back to the issue of THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD at hand, for me as a Legion of Super - Heroes fan it is a special delight that the main villains in this issue are The Fatal Five. Although things really kick into high gear with more Legionaries than you can throw a stick at - okay, not that many since that happened in INFINITE CRISIS : LEGION OF THREE WORLDS ( which I posted here : issue 1 / issue 2 / issue 3 / issue 4 / issue 5 ) - but you get the idea of what takes place in issue 5. In any case, back to our story :

Instead of the eagerly awaited second THORSDAY WITH ERIK LARSEN post we must take a break to pay homage to one of my all time favorite artists.

That´s right, comic icon Sal Buscema who has drawn every character in the Marvel universe since the Bronze Age celebrates his 81st birthday Today and since I did a short overview of his career in my last post about him we are combining two things to get an even more Airwolf post.

I have to admit : I had a total brainfart when I had the idea of combining a Sal Buscema birthday post with a THORSDAY post. Here I was desperately trying to come up with any issues of THOR that were done by Uncle Sal. Well, it didn´t take me long to remember that he did the art on several issues of Walter Simonson´s epic THOR run which undeservedly get a short thrift most of the time. As I have been collecting material for a plethora of Thor posts for years there were a lot of pictures to choose from but after doing my initial selection thing naturally starting drifting to issues 373 and 374 which happened during the MUTANT MASSACRE. You know, the brutal slaughter of most of the Morlocks by Gambit´s handpicked little gang of cutthroats, psychos and serial killers. Hmm, I wonder why some people don´t like Gambit. Anyway, in the issue Thor meets the original X - Men and although for them a lot of time has passed since they last saw him for him it is like it was just Yesterday. Yup, for gods time passes differently.

This post also makes up a bit for the fact that I couldn´t make a special Edgar Allen Poe post this year but I won´t say more about this because I don´t want to spoil things for those who have not read the story. As it would have been too long to post both issues I had to leave out a lot of stuff like what´s happening in Asgard or Thor catching up with a couple of green skinned friends but if this wets your appetite go and read the full issues. The THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON OMNIBUS hardcover is currently out of print and if you can find a copy it will probably sell for ridiculous prices but there are enough versions of the trades in circulation so it should not be difficult to find this. Or you can always look for these issues in dollar bins since they are not rare. No matter what dealers may tell you. But enough with the introduction already and let´s get to the action now.

As usual I am a bit late with the post which was caused by me trying to buy comics from the central train station newsstand in Ludwigsburg.

I don´t know why I even bother because most of the cases I come up empty. Now my german readers probably know this because there have been enough commercials on tv but Hachette is publishing a new Marvel hardcover collection while still doing the black graphic novel collection.

The new line are red hardcovers and so far I have no idea what kind of collection this will be. In the commercial they say that each new book will focus on one hero but I don´t know how different this will be from the other line. In any case, even though I already have the fantastic Ultron story by Kurt Busiek and George Perez as part of my Avengers Assemble hardcovers for 4 EUROS I was willing to chance it. That way I could see what´s in these books and if I don´t like it it will make a cheap present.

But as always they did not have it and once again I must turn to the internet although the only shop where I have seen it so far is the one in Sachsenheim. Maybe this is also a collection that is only available through newsstands which sucks if you can´t find it at the newsstands. And then people say that comics don´t sell in Germany. First you have to find them.

Today´s entertainment block starts with Ellen Degeneres who celebrates her 59th birthday and since her show is not on german tv I have to rely clips I find on the internet. Because I had already posted Mariah Carey´s breast appearances in a previous post I thought I would have to include a video where Ellen has found a funny commercial from Japan. Although it is basically the upbra of which I also posted two videos. So the product is not that weird it is more the way it is presented. In any case that is what I wanted to post but then I found this video of another racktastic visit by Mariah Carey but it has been split into three parts. Speaking of Mariah, just the other day I was zapping through the channels when I came upon the reality show Mariah´s World. How did I not know that was a thing ?

Keeping with the subject of celebrities about whom I don´t know much, ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky turns 65 but since I never was a big ice hockey fan ( I have no idea if they showed any of the matches he was in on german tv ) the only thing I know about him is that he has an excellent taste in women since he married cult siren Janet Jones who celebrated her 56th birthday on the 10th of this month. Today´s birthdays seem to fall under the category 10 Things I Don´t Know which is not to say that I don´t know who Scott Glenn is. He turns 76 and he has been in too many movies to mention them all here. What I mean is that apparently he plays Matt Murdock´s gruff mentor Stick on the Netflix Daredevil series which I still haven´t seen. So I can´t say much about this. As a result I picked The Challenge which co stars the great Toshiro Mifune.

As a funny aside, the aikido - based action scenes were choreographed by Stephen Segal before he started his acting career. Which some people might say would have been for the better if he had never started in that direction but then we never would have gotten Baywatch hardbody Erika Eleniak´s mega sexy striptease in Under Siege ( as he put it in the script ) which is without question the pinnacle of her entire cineastic oeuvre.

Now you are probably asking yourself how I am going to make the smooth segueway from striptease to science fiction but one of Erika Eleniak´s first roles was in the sci fi classic E.T. - the Extra - Terrestial which brings us to our next birthday candidate Philip Jose Farmer. I think so far only his Riverworld has been adapted and I really hope Hollywood botched it up.

Also no longer with us to celebrate his anniversary is Paul Newman who I always got mixed up with Steve McQueen. Probably because when I was growing up you got either one or the other in all the good movies. Of course now I don´t confuse Paul Newman with other actors because he´s the one in the movie Cool Hand Luke ( known as Der Unbeugsame - The Unbending in Germany which is the same title The Natural with Robert Redford got here ) with real life Power Girl Joy Harmon´s famous car wash scene. Never underestimate the effect giant, wet boobs that are pressed tightly against glass can have on the memory. Just ask Simona Ventura .

And since such a short animated GIF - no matter how good the quality - is ill suited to adequately show the full dimensions of Miss Harmon´s over - proportionate developed talents here is the best version of the scene.

Now while Philip Jose Farmer revolutionized science fiction with his 1952 short story The Lovers as it was the first known science fiction tale to portray sex between a human and a non - humanoid alien nobody put those kind of scenes better into pop art than Roger Vadim in Barbarella.

When ace pilot James Rhodes garbs himself in the solar - charged, steel - mesh armor, created by Tony Stark, inventor extraordinaire, he becomes the world´s greatest human fighting machine .... the invincible Iron Man.

Another week we have to post pone the FLASH FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN post to pay homage to one of the great creators whose mind - blowing work has had a big impact on comics not once, not two but three times.

So far I have not written a birthday post for Frank Miller because I had all my Frank miller art scattered around various folders. But after last year´s anniversary I have made a special folder where I kept all the Frank Miller stuff with a special subfolder for his Daredevil pieces to be prepared.

Now so far I have written a few posts about Daredevil but I have not written much about Frank Miller´s Daredevil run. Because it is not my favorite Daredevil period. Sacrilege, I know. Of course his input in the series is what cemented his version as the definite coda, the blueprint all later versions followed - at least the good ones - and you possibly cannot find a better complete package where the mood, storytelling and art is concerned. And as every comic fan worth his salt I have read all of the issues. But that does not mean it is the version I really enjoy the most.

Just like with the UNCANNY X - MEN, where I won´t deny that the run by Chris Claremont and John Byrne is the gold standard. BUT if you ask me what my favorite run of that series is - something for what I was willing to shill out the 100 EUROS and more the Artist´s Editions cost over here in Germany - I would probably say it´s the run by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri with the period when John Romita Jr. drew the book as a close second. I don´t know if it has something to do with nostalgia as there are people who will try to brainwash you into thinking you always like the first version you experience of a comic the most. Which I always found a bit faulty because - like let´s say for the X - Men - the definition of the first version you experience is not that easy. Is it the really, for good very first time you ever read a comic from that series ? In my case that would have been the X - TEAM which was the back up feature of HULK by Williams.

Which didn´t grab me because that was the Stan Lee and Jack Kirby stuff. So it must have been the first issue of the all new team with Storm and Colossus and Nightcrawler and Wolverine. That would have been a spanish issue by Vertice but then it makes no sense that I rate the John Romita Jr issues higher on my personal preference list. I mean I just keep buying those issues again and again. And I vividly recall the first spanish issue of John Romita´s run of UNCANNY X - MEN I ever bought which was not a X- MEN issue in Spain at all. Much rather it was issue 16 of LAS GUERRAS SECRETAS because they continued SECRET WARS with SECRET WARS and just kept on with the numbering. But they did not only publish the main series, they also got the license for all the tie - in issues which is how a lot of books series that were not published in Spain ( or at least were not that far ahead in their numbering ) found their way to spanish audiences like UNCANNY X - MEN 196. I think I have lost count how many times I have bought this issue. I got at least two spanish copies, one the normal issue with the left hand corner cut off for whatever reason and one as part of a GUERRAS SECRETAS trade ( which are just five issues glued together with a cheap cardbox cover ), as part of a german pocketbook, as part of a pocketbook from PANINI UK, as a X - MEN CLASSICS reprint ( for some reason the series was canceled a few issues before they could fill the gap in my X - Men collection ) and it´s also in my SECRET WARS II omnibus.

Which by the way is more evidence that the runs by John Romita Jr and Marc Silvestri are higher on my favorite list : I have a SECRET WARS II omnibus and an INFERNO PROLOGUE omnibus but so far none from John Byrne´s tenure on the book. It´s true, I have a MARVEL MASTERWORKS with The Dark Phoenix Saga but just because you already have something does not mean you won´t buy it again. A few months ago I bought the Epic Collection X - MEN : THE GIFT ( at a big discount at amazon´s bargain books section ) although I already have all the issues in pocketbook form.

So back to favorite runs and the whole reason for this tangent, just like my favorite run on UNCANNY X - MEN is by Marc Silvestri my favorite run of DAREDEVIL - for which I would go so far as to buy an Artist´s Edition - is the John Romita Jr run. And yes, both of these were published around the same time which is when I first started buying american comics at train station newsstands so that could be a factor although I´m not convinced it has that big of an impact. Longtime readers already should know that, as I have written numerous posts on the subject ( and there will be more as soon as I can continue with my LIKE A BOOK OUT OF HELL series ) and even wrote a special post to pimp the Epic Collection DAREDEVIL : A TOUCH OF THYPHOID . Which for me is one of the best they have published so far and you still can get it from amazon for 24 EUROS shipping included.

All that said since most of the Frank Miller material I have is from Daredevil I decided to make this the topic of Today´s post. I mainly want to feature Frank Miller the artist and not only Frank Miller the writer so I excluded all material from BORN AGAIN since that could be part of a future post. After selecting the pieces I liked best I realized most were from issue 181 which is only natural since it´s one of best from his run and in comics in general. Since it is a double sized issue - and I wanted to include some original art - I cannot put all the pages in this post but surely there will be others.

The series was named after the red light district of St. Pauli in Hamburg and was a sequel to The King of St. Pauli. It follows the lives of strippers, prostitutes and their pimps but they are all portrayed like regular people not like in american tv series where people from this walk of life are always portrayed as bad people. I remember an episode of a series about beach cops on bikes ( that sounds as action packed as it was ) with people from the porn industry and they also made them killers because all people in adult entertainment are horrible people. Anyway, I watched every episode of Die Rote Meile because they had a very easy concept : one strip in every episode which was not interrupted by commercials. I don´t know if they could do that Today as they put commercials into everything.

Even if they did not go totally topless - sometimes they had pasties on - I was glued to the tv watching such hot sexbombs like Yasmina Filali above.

Daimn, that girl really has the prototype of the heart shaped ass. Now longtime readers know that one of my pet peeves is giving credit to the unsung actresses who upgrade movies and tv shows by getting naked on camera and there were sure some among them on Die Rote Meile as I found out when I tried to find the names of my favorite strippers. Yes, only the " real " actors are mentioned in the cast meaning those with a speaking part which tells you which place some women still occupy in Today´s society. So if anybody out there knows the name of the living blow up sex doll with the huge melons below put it in the comments.

Anyway, one of the best strippers of the regular cast is Sylvia Leifheit who has a secret identity in the series as she plays the typical devoted wife by day, secret stripper by night. Sylvia made me realize two things : firstly, while I usually don´t go for skinny chicks she is just oozing so much sex appeal that I would do her in a minute. And second, hair color can really make a difference because her character in the series is actually a blonde and despite having the same figure as a blonde she´s kind of a - meh - looking girl while as Luna with the black wig she´s a real firecracker !

A few years back I got the complete first season of Die Rote Meile on DVD at amazon at a pretty decent price and I´m glad I seized the opportunity because it really goes for ridiculous prices now. I can really recommend this show and Sylvia Leifheit alone is worth the price of admission.
