Time jumping Tuesday with Dave Gibbons

Today is Dave Gibbons´ 71st birthday and I have finally accumulated enough original art for a full blown BLACK AND WHITE post on his best known work, the 12 issue series WATCHMEN with writer Alan Moore.


I know that nowadays it´s always billed as a graphic novel - like any other comicbook series once it has a certain amount of success or gets adapted into a tv series or a movie - but I just can´t call something that is not a graphic novel a graphic novel. Also since DC Comics - like all of the other major ( or even minor ) comicbook publishers - has never sent me any review copies I don´t feel obligated to spread their retroactive continuity.


Now as longtime readers know I have always found WATCHMEN to be a bit overrated. For all its good parts I think the creators had it easy in that they didn´t need to factor in a pre - existing continuity. They could tell their story and break all the toys without caring what other creators would have to deal with. In this aspect I always found Marvel Comics 12 issue series SQUADRON SUPREME by the late Mark Gruenwald better. It also tackled the problems super heroes face in the real world but they used pre - existing characters which were later used by other creators.


Like the characters of WATCHMEN were in BEFORE WATCHMEN and just recently in DOOMSDAY CLOCK. But that is not Today´s topic. Anyway, beyond this personal preference I can´t deny that WATCHMEN is one of the technically best made comics ever. It was planned meticulously, executed flawlessly and it has so many layers upon layers and meanings upon meanings that you can read it a dozen times and still find new things you hadn´t seen before or old thing you had already forgotten about.


Now there have been enough articles, essays and in fact whole books about WATCHMEN, the hidden meaning, the obvious meaning etc. so I won´t bore you with any attempts to dig out something nobody thought of before. Personally I have been thinking about getting a new edition of the comic since my old copy of the trade paperback - still not a graphic novel - is pretty old and battered but I´m not sure which edition to buy especially since there seems to be an ARTIFACT EDITION available now.


I´m also thinking about getting the BEFORE WATCHMEN omnibus since I only have gotten the BEFORE WATCHMEN : DR. MANHATTAN mini series by Adam Hughes ( back when he was still drawing stuff that was worth to spend money on ) and the DOLLAR BILL one shot by Steve Rude. I know that for some it is sacrilege to read these comics since Alan Moore does not approve but with such a cash cow like WATCHMEN it was only a matter of time before DC Comics wnet back to the well. And I have already sinned by reading DOOMSDAY CLOCK. And I also said I liked SQUADRON SUPREME better. So it´s already too late for me. Plus the creative tems behind the BEFORE WATCHMEN books reads like a Who´s Who of comics creators.


Speaking of sacrilege, am I the only one who hasn´t seen the WATCHMEN tv show ? The fifth season of Marvel´s Agents Of S. H. I. E. L. D. has just come out in Germany so I´m going to binge watch that for the rest of the week. And WATCHMEN will have to wait until it also is released on DVD and BlueRay. One last thing about the adaptions of WATCHMEN : just two days ago I re - watched the german version of the movie which is heavily cut and which makes watching the extra content a weird experience.

Because a lot of the scenes that were cut in the german version keep popping up in the bonus section, mostly because they are that important. But hey, when has something like this ever stopped the german FSK ?

Keisha Knight Pulliam, our little Rudy Huxtable has grown up in all the right places. Now is it just me or is every countries version of Splash better than the one from Germany ?


From what I have seen from France, Spain and America it´s just one long parade of hot celebrity sexbombs in bikinis who get wet while in Germany most female contestants are eliminated after the first two episodes. I´m not entirely sure but I would wager they don´t understand the purpose of the program. I mean how can you even think it´s fair to have the bottom contenders in a swimming contest to decide who stays ? Of course the men will win and this way you can guarantee there are no women left.

But most importantly in 1984 Jean Paul Belmondo was in a movie with the wardrobe malfunction prone queen of explicit nude scenes, french blow up sex doll Sophie " Tits Out " Marceau whom longtime readers remember as my choice for Justice League Europe liaison Catherine Colbert in the first part of my CASTING THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MOVIE series.


The french sexbomb is best known in the US for appearing in the Bond flick THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, and outside for taking her clothes of in such classics like MES NUITS SONT PLUS BELLES QUE VOS JOURS ( my nights are more beautiful than your days ) or DESCENT AUX ENFERS ( Descentintohell ) - where she appeared in nude scenes with Claude Brasseur who played her father in the romantic hit comedies LA BOUM and LA BOUM 2 which caused all kind of outrage at this perceived incest.


Her first nude scene was in HAPPY EASTER with Jean Paul Belmondo which I have to confess to have lying somewhere and still haven´t watched. She was 18 at the time she made the movie and paid the movie studio Gaumont money to get out of her contract to be able to do nude scenes.


What a trooper. In the movie she´s Jean Paul´s lover but when his wife returns a bit early from her vacation he says she´s his daughter from his ex. Sophie also starred in the horror movie NE TE RETOURNE PAS ( don´t turn around ) opposite MonicaBellucci which is like a dream sandwich.


I put her in the finale of the Hollywood Edition of Casting The JLA Movie series as Wonder Woman but now I´m tending more towards Big Barda.


In the original FOURTH WORLD comics by Jack Kirby - and this definitely changed in the NEW 52 - Big Barda was built like a brick shithouse with the personality of a lady trucker, the muscles of a female bodybuilder, the hot measurements of a playmate of the year and the cupsize of a porn star.


She got that from her mother Big Breeda, the fiercest female warrior on Apokolips who - nomen est omen - was therefore selected by Darkseid himself to breed the next race of warriors. I don´t know if it was because she spurned his advances or if he just thought she would produce the best offspring but it is implied that they used her like a blow up sex doll !


All for the next generation of Akopolips´ finest of course. Now with Big Barda the melons didn´t fall far from the tree and when she began to develop, especially in certain parts of her anatomy that had to do with procreation Darkseid decided to let her follow in her mother´s footsteps and - like mother like daughter - personally introduce Big Barda to the breeding pens to continue the family tradition. So as soon as she got wind of Darkseid´s perverted plans for her Big Barda decided to ditch Apokolips and hitched the next ride to Earth. According to Big Barda she managed to do that before Darkseid had a chance to break her in but maybe she was so eager to join Mister Miracle because she had tasted the Darkseed.

Originally I cast Maria Grazia Cucinotta, the italian mega MILF with the giant 39D ( !!! ) melons as Big Barda but keeping in mind her history I may cast her as Big Breeda. Not only to get Maria to do nude scenes that way but also because then I could cast Monica Bellucci as Big Barda and give the Wonder Woman role to british 90s pornsuperstarSarahLouiseYoung .


Coming back to Sophie Marceau, not only does she drop her clothes very often she also shows great cleavage like in THEMUSKETEERSREVENGE ( or The daughter of D´Artagnan like it´s called in Germany ) that has one of my favorite scenes with her. D´Artagnan´s daughter ( Sophie Marceau ) is captured by the villain of the movie to be sold off to a brothel, but only " to the sleaziest one where they waste the whores very quick " as she says. The guy who has to sell her bitches starts complaining that at the price he has to get for her he´ll never get rid of her. At which point the bad woman tells him that in this case he should be glad, ripping open Sophie´s shirt and revealing her gorgeous breasts which shuts him up.


I still have not bought THE MUSKETEER`S REVENGE because for some reason it´s only available on DVD in Germany and priced very high. One might think it could be because of the nude scene but most of Sophie´s movies include some and the majority of them are not very expensive.


Writing this section is always a nice reminder of things that I planned to do and still have not been able to do and I really should get some of her movies. There is always so much to do that some things are put on the backburner for too long. One of these days I should get LA BOUM and the sequel to re - watch, once for the nostalgia but also because it has been really a long time since I first saw them and I don´t remember much of it.

I was probably too young to appreciate Sophie´s emerging teenage sexual appeal or more concerned about comics and I had completely forgotten her astonishing impression of Cyd Charisse from Singing In The Rain.


Which I have just re - watched two days ago. After writing about her repeatedly in the last few days I decided to get both Singin´ In The Rain and An American In Paris ( which is my favorite musical ) so I can watch them again. And as I could not fit everything about Cyd Charisse in those post´s bonus section I decided to give Cyd her own cult siren entry .

Anyway, back to Ruth Moschner, despite playing Secret Agent DD on Freitag Nacht News for the longest time she was very secretive about her breastsize and the only thing she admitted was that it used to be more.

Now I have found a site that claims that Ruth Moschner is a B cup at best which is hard to believe when you have seen her titanic teutonic twin torpedoes in action. Well, if the website is right Ruth Moscher´s real measurements are 87 - 65 - 92 which for readers in the US are 34 - 26 - 36.

Unlike Ruth Moschner Simone Thomalla who celebrates her 55th birthday has posed nude in PLAYBOY and she also showcased her physical attributes in various movies and the neverending crime show Tatort although she is most famous for participating in the ALS ice bucket challenge. She wore a very thin white shirt and as was to be expected her boobs were completely exposed.
