It´s back to comics with our next birthday from September the 9th as Kevin Maguire celebrated his 58th anniversary. He is of course best know for his contribution to what some people call the Bwa - ha - ha League even if that ignores the mind control, deaths and other real life aspects.
While this was one of my favorite periods of the Justice League I don´t think I have written an extensive post about it yet - as longtime readers know focus more on Bart Sear´s Justice League Europe since they had Power Girl on the team - so the only post I wrote specifically for Kevin Maguire is a special FLASH FRIDAY with the female Flash from Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe. Those readers that already were around last year ( and to whom all of this might seem very familiar but you try writing a blog for so long and not repeat yourself ) might remember that back then I pimped the hell out of the omnibus and not only because you could still get it at amazon Germany for 23 bucks including handling and shipping which is a steal for a 75 dollar hardcover. Now I am not saying it is an indispensable work in the history of comics but you have a veritable list of comicdoms Who´s Who of artists working on this and in fact for some of them who are not longer with us it was their last comic work. The overall story by Stan Lee is also very entertaining and at 23 bucks you could´t go wrong.
Well, Stan Lee sadly is no longer with us which may be one of the factors why you pay 81 EUROS at amazon right now even if you can get a copy at your local comic book store for 71 EUROS. Coming back to Kevin Maguire there will be a post about his tenure on the Justice League I don´t know yet if it will be one of my popular Deja Vue posts about his famous and often copied cover for the first issue of Justice League of America ( we also did our version of it for the first - and at the moment only - cover of Power Freaks ) or some complete issues of Justice League Classified which I came across while cleaning up the laptop. What I DO know is that someway, somehow Power Girl is going to be featured in it.
Speaking about the best Power Girl of all times in Justice League Europe, in 2016 I finally managed to do another post about Darick Robertson in which I mentioned the BREAKDOWNS storyline that introduced Power Girl´s famous coconut bra costume. And Ijust want to say that I still have not given up on a YayaHan Power Girl coconut bra cosplay ( with the tiniest coconut shells you can find although compared to her huge 40D oppai all coconut shells probably look small no matter how big they are ) as she has already shown that she does a terrific Power Girl cosplay and she certainly has no problem filling out the magical cleavage window.
